I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Download and Reinstall the drivers from here: WLAN Windows 10 64 Bit DriverWLAN Windows 10 32 Bit Driver: To determine which version of Windows 10 you have:Click "Start" > type in "Machine Name" a dialog box will pop up and under System Type will tell you whether you have 32 bit or 64 bit edition of Windows installed. Good luck.

Hi folks, We have several Lenovo X1 Carbon 20FB Windows 10 Pro laptops.  More than one of them experience WiFi connection issues. Specifically and consistently when we move from room to room on our floor.  Even if connect automatically is checked, when we get to the destination, we may get connected to the AP, but unable to access anything, until we disable/enable the WiFi adapter.  This happens everyday, everytime.  I've been in the habit of disconnecting before I move. All other WiFi devices, phones, do not experience this issue. Anyone hear about this?

Hello all, I'm posting this here hoping that someone can help me with my problem with my X1 carbon. Basic Information:X1 Carbon, 4th Gen, Type: 20FB, System: windows 10 home I recently reset my X1 carbon to factory setting, and no setting changes were made after that. After that, I keep experiencing Wifi connection problems. I'm not able to get a wireless connection to public wifi access points (More specifically, my school's web system). Most often it says "CONNECTED, NO INTERNET". NO INTERNET AT ALL. However, I can get connection when I am connected to my home wireless router. The system does not seem to have problems on home wifi networks. So I believe there is a hardware/software issue with my laptop Please note that I reported the issue to my school's IT department. They confirmed that it was not the wifi that was not working since all other devices, including my phone, worked perfectly well with the wifi. They checked my laptop and said that my laptop's internet speed was only one fifth of other devices under the same wifi, so it got bullied by other devices and constantly got 'kicked out'. PS. all my drivers are up to date. I've been tolerating this issue for a month. It's a real pain.  Any thoughts?  Thank you in advance

When my Carbon 5th is connected to 5 GHz Wifi it randomly resets (drops) after several hours (connection is being lost, Windows reports "Cannot connect to the network"). Sometimes it is possible to connect again manually, sometimes only reboot makes it work again. Connection to 2.4 GHz Wifi always works totally fine. I've seen several similar topics on Intel forums with the same issue, looks like it touches several Intel WiFi adapters. No solution have been found except using only old 2.4 GHz protocols or external WiFi adaptors. I tried different drivers and many parameter sets on my router - nothing solves this issue. It is very sad to have only 20mbps with 2.4 GHz while new standards offer more than 100mbps. Did you face this issue? Any ideas to solve it out?

Hello everyone. I have recently update my Y50-70 to Windows 10 Pro. My issue is that when i connect with Wi-fi to the internet i have about 15mbps while when i connect with ethernet i have around 35 mbps. My modem is 2 meters away from me and when i run the test with my Android phone through the same page for internet speed i get around 30mbps. I have the Broadcom 802.11ac network card. When i install the driver for this card from lenovo ( the WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek) driver) i cannot connect to any Wifi and sometimes i got a screen freeze so i forced reboot. I have tried to unistall the driver from device manager and then reboot my pc but i got the same result in speedtest.I called lenovo and they told me to wait until the driver is udated again (last update July of 2016) but they didn't know if the driver will be updated soon. Hi, I've just purchase a Lenovo Y700. I'd prefer to connect via ethernet to the business centre lan than via wifi. Unfortunately, when I switch the Y700 on, the ethernet connection lights flash for a few seconds, then a small red light below and to the left of the ethernet connector starts flashing and I seem to get forced over to wifi. If I go into network settings and disable the wifi, I still can't get the system to recognise the ethernet cable's plugged in. I've tested the cable and the lan socket on another PC. Both work. What do I need to do to fix this?

Some forum members have reported a variety of Wifi issues with their G505 laptops. Their reports range from showing "Connection is limited", to Wifi connections dropping repeatedly, to being unable to make a Wifi connection at all. I combined multiple threads in order to assist forum members with troubleshooting solutions.

If your G505 was upgraded to Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and then lost connectivity, or you recently purchased a G505 running Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and are unable to connect, try following the instructions posted by Vikramsbox to restore the connection through the Lenovo Communications Utility.

For non-Windows 8.0 or 8.1 users, start troubleshooting with the basics:

The most recent WLAN, BIOS, and Power Management drivers from Lenovo can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g505-no...
It is also good practice to verify your Wifi is activated by following the instructions from Neokenchi.
Check Power Management settings to ensure your laptop isn't turning off the Wifi as noted by Dannyk1.
Check to see that Airplane Mode is set to OFF by following the instructions provided by Shiv_K.

After trying those steps, if you still experience a Wifi issue with your G505, other troubleshooting steps have been noted in this thread. This includes a whitelist of accepted replacement WLAN cards posted by Topmahof and a 3rd party driver which resolved wifi issues fo... Read more

Hello Lenovo forum, I have a problem. NO WIFI (even after install drivers/reboot) Last week I bought this laptop: https://www.expert.nl/lenovo-ideapad-310-15isk-80sm017smhAll good, only thing I didn't like was Windows 10 OS.So I bought a serial for Windows 8.1, downloaded the .ISO on Microsoft website, installed it on USB-drive and installed a fresh Windows 8.1. So all CLEAN.Like always first thing is to start with install Drivers of course. So I downloaded Everest and put it on USB-stick. (Easy program to show which hardware)I already checked on (this computer>manage>device manager) and saw there same; Realtek pci family controller for Network.(Now I wanted to check it before posting this but since I just deleted all drivers 10 min. ago, since didn't work, I no see any visible.) But I'm pretty sure it was Realtek PCI Family Controller. So I downloaded the drivers from the Realtek website, and installed it. Rebooted, but still same problem.Anyway I saw also that Motherboard says: "Unknown" on Everest so I think I need drivers for that also but don't know which ones? Same for some USB drivers but I think this is included with Motherboard. The problem is that I just can't choose any Wifi.In Manager the only option is: Flight mode: On/Off (=Off)Bluetooth: On/Off (=Off) I don't see Wifi.I'm trying for hours + yesterday so hope find solution here, otherwise I will install Windows 7 and try that. Thanks in advance!

Lenovo Gen 4(20FC) Carbon loses audio after Lenovo System Update We have several of the Gen 4 X1 Carbons here at work and they work fine until Lenovo system updates gets run. We have had 4 people run the system updates and now the system has no audio. If you click the audio icon in the try, windows begins diagnosing the system. If you try to install a different driver, it fails with code 1. No matter if you uninstall, reinstall, different versions of the driver....nothing seems to restore the audio. I finally did a system restore to before lenovo system update was run and the audio returned to working. It seems to be a software problem but I would really like to know if there is some way to get it working without having to restore every time someone runs lenovo system update.

Hello,    I am looking to replace my aging Lenovo T420S and Lenovo x1 Carbon 1st generation. They have both served me well and I am happy with both.  I like the touch of Carbon but don?t use it that often. The machine will be perosnla machine but will be used for personal and business/work use. I saw the T460S and x1 Yoga yesterday at our IT department. I like the built quality of Lenovo T460S including keyboard but found X1 Yoga to be fragile. I couldn?t get my hands on X1 Carbon 4th generation and found out that it doesn?t have touch anymore. The weight difference is minimal between the three machines and I personally like the weight, feel and ruggedness of Lenovo T460S. Bottom line is does anyone have experience with these three machines? I can afford to replace only one machine now and it will be fully loaded (i7, 16GB and 1Tb PCIe-NVME drive). Is x1 Yoga rugged and reliable? The difference between X1 Carbon 4th Gen and T460S seems minimal. Thank You!Subhash

I purchased this new less than two months ago. Today, with no prior issues, I cannot see or connect to any wireless network. It worked fine as of yesterday. There is no network icon now. When I go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Change adapter settings, I see a red X next to Bluetooth Network Connection, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi (each with the red X). Wi-Fi says 'Not connected'. I right-click Wi-Fi 'Connect / Disconnect' and no networks appear. When I click 'View your network properties' the status of every device shows 'Not operational'. In Device Manager, the Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8265 Properties says the device is working properly. It's running driver version 20.70.0.5 as of 6/25/2018. A couple days ago I got a message about some Lenovo update that was performed automatically and required a reboot - I don't know what that was for. Until today, this was absolutely the best laptop I've ever had. But with no connectivity, it's almost useless to me. Any suggestions? Is this a hardware component failure? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hey guys, I bought a X1 Carbon model 20FBCTO1WW from the US. I got it from the US but am currently in the UK. Wifi tethering from my mobile doesn't work. I looked up solutions online and found a couple of people facing the same issue with the 20A7 models. They reported issues with the Intel network card. Mine is Intel Dual Band Wireless - AC 8260. Anyone facing the same issues / have any advice to give? Thanks!

Hello and welcome,

What channel is your phone using?  IIRC US hardware doesn't support all the channels that may be available elsewhere in the world.

I'm having trouble finding a list of supported channels for the UK so I can't verify that this might be the issue.

Something to check.

I bought an X1 Carbon 6th Gen a month ago (20KH002KUS).  I'm having a problem with slow wifi.  Not sure if it's the hadware or windows 10 or something else.  Here are symptoms: - I can connect to wifi with no problems (doesn't drop the signal)- My speed is very slow.  I use speedtest.net to test the connection speed on both the X1 and from my Pixel phone (both the same distance from the router).  If the Pixel is showing the wifi speed at 150MBps, my X1 will be between 5 and 25MBps.  This same scenario holds true at work and at home (two different routers/networks)- There are lots of web pages on "Windows 10 slow wifi"...I tried a dozen different settings/tweaks and none work- If I disconnect from the wifi network on my X1 and then reconnect, it will sometimes get me up to the high speeds.  But it's temporary and the slow speeds return Anyone seen any similar problems?  I upgraded from a Windows 7 X1 First Gen and didn't have this problem. Mike

I have a problem on a brand new Thinkpad Carbon Gen 6. The wifi connects fine. When I test speed with Ookla internet speed test, I get 80 mbs down and 80 mbs up, same as with my Pixel, Tablet, and old laptop. But if I close the lid and leave the computer for an hour and come back, I get variable, but slower, results.. for example I might get 26 mbs down but still 80 mbs up or various combinations. It stays that way if I don't change anything. But if all I do is disconnect from the wifi network and reconnect, I'm back to 80 mbs up and 80 mbs down stably. Through all of this, the Pixel 2, sitting right next to the laptop, has no problems maintaining speed over the wifi during the same time period the Lenovo has the problem. Manually putting the computer to sleep and waking it up a minute or two later doesn't cause the problem. I uninstalled Intel Proset software, and that didn't fix it. Windows is up to date and I have the latest network card drivers installed. One thing I note is when I go to the dialog to configure the network adapter, there is no longer any tab for Power Mangement. When I go to the sleep settings, there are no choices for (eg) Link Power Management anymore. Is this because of the new Windows 10 version? Turning some of that stuff off used to help with flaky network behavior in the past, but now they're gone. Any suggestions welcome.

I am restarting this thread because the other threads on the same topic were marked as solved when in reality the solutions were workarounds and not solutions. (eg, replacing your wifi AP with a new version when all your other clinets have full wifi speed) After a sleep, the wifi speed drops to 20 both ways using lan speed test. If I turn off the wifi and turn it back on, speed goes back up to 150 down and 200 up. I have Intel Wireless Driver 20.70.3.3 update for 8265 from November 6th, 2018. Any solutions from anyone besides having to turn off the wifi and turn it back on? Just got this computer and love it but this is a painful thing to have to do every time after a wake from sleep.I should add that I have Unifi Ubiquiti AC Lite for wireless and a UNifi USG router and both have the latest firmware running. It's been the most reliable wireless AP I have ever had, and everything else in my house has great speeds without problems including an HP Spectre x360 2017, 2 ipads, a oneplus 3t, and iphone 6. I looked through all the release notes for the driver on the 8265 hardware on intel's web site going back to the beginning of this year, but I don't see that slow wifi after resume from sleep has been addressed. Interestingly a number of other issues after resume from sleep were addressed. I am setting my laptop to have lower threshold to hibernate. When I click on the Wifi icon (marked Turned OFF by the OS) nothing happens.  I can toggle airplane mode on and off by wifi will no longer toggl.  I have to restart the machine. The touchpoint, touchpad, and USB connect mouse continue to work during this time.

A:X1 Carbon 6th keyboard and wifi stop working

For whatever reason, it appears this machine will run longer successfully on battery.  When it is plugged in the error comes sooner.  Sometimes the error is there after reboot (either returns very fast or never went away, not sure).

When I first got this laptop I though I was dealing with some sort of compatibillity issue with my home router. But I have now done some travelling with the laptop, accessed several wifi networks, while having other wifi devices on hand, and it's only this X1 Carbon laptop that has these issues. The problem is the laptop will be OK for a while after boot, normal download/upload speeds via WiFi. But after a while, sometimes 15 minutes or sometimes after an hour or so, the download speed completely tanks, often unusably slow. My other devices connected to the same network stay totally fine. When the download speed gets really slow, the upload speed stays totally fine. Other devices on same wifi network stay totally fine as well. Rebooting the laptop often fixes it for a little while, but it eventually happens again. This issue happens without the laptop ever going to sleep. One second I'm getting 50 Mbps down and then all of a sudden less than 1 Mbps, near 0. Brand new laptop just got it last week. Windows 10. Everything is up to date.

Hi everyone. I just acquired a Gen 3 X1 Carbon. When I got it, it had Windows 10 on it. I do not like Windows 10 at all so I replaced it with Windows 8, which I will upgrade to 8.1. However... The wifi card is not functioning. I installed every possible wifi driver (but not Sierra) and the wifi card is not even showing up as a connected device in Device Manager (see the attached screenshot).  I also noticed that ALT + F4 is not functioning either. I installed every other driver I can think of. Please help!

I recently got Thinkpad x1 carbon 6th generation. Everything works great except for wifi. I get much slower speeds than rest of my devices at least 50% less speed than my ASUS laptop or pixel 2 xl. I uninstalled proset but no changes. I tried to update my intel drive but i get a message that it caant be installed. I am really frustrated with this. Does anyone have the same problem ? if so please let me know of any solutions. If this continues i plan on returning the laptop.
