I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey all,
I'm having an issue with my ASUS F5GL laptop. If I try to launch a game like Counter-Strike: Source, Garry's Mod or Just Cause 2, not long after actually leaving the menu and beginning to play (anywhere between 2-5min), the whole laptop just silently crashes. I checked ALL the logs, and there is nothing in there, except something recorded at boot, saying the computer was not cleanly shutdown. When it does crash, a second before it crashes, a weird thin horizontal line appears in a random location on the screen, going all the way across the screen. This was happening under Windows Vista, but I just bought and did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium, and it's still happening. I have updated my drivers and it still happens. Laptop info is below (caution, large block of text)

Hi. I've recently been trying to play Metal Gear Solid 5 but every time I boot it up my PC either crashes as soon as the splash screens are done or after a few minutes. It's been crashing while playing other games as well but it's been much rarer. It's not a BSOD crash and it doesn't produce any crash dumps so I'm leaning towards it being a problem with either the PSU, the motherboard or one of the graphics cards. Any help with finding the cause of this would be appreciated.
The PSU model is fd-psu-newt2-800, the graphics cards are both Nvidia GTX760s and the motherboard is a ASUS Sabertooth Z77

Hi all,

Had a problem lately where my graphic card driver stopped responding and crashed. Comp restart, run game, crash again. Bad cycle. To be precise this happened after i first initiated 'Dark Souls 2' - I haven't got to play after then.

I manage to find minidump file and have attached it here. For some reason i cant copy or even delete the latest dump file so I have posted the older file here.

Here are my system information:

Processor: Intel i5 3470
Board: Asrock B75-Pro3-M
Graphic card: Leadtek GTX 660ti
Graphic card Driver: Nvidia 335.23

The system was 1 year old without any problem, and I did not overclock the system.

Appreciate your help folks!

A:Crash when running games

Your graphics driver is out of date.
Update it on the What's New | GeForce website.
These instructions should help:

NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems

However this dump files dates back to the 6th of may and you state on your original post that the driver version is 335.23, if so are you still getting crashes after a driver update?

I recommend running it for around 30 minutes

Hey, I've posted here before and thought the problem was gone, but apparently I was wrong. The installing new graphic driver solution did not work as well as I hope, the problem is still here. Errors are becoming more frequent during my gameplay and once again I am here to seek help.

I only play two games on this desktop, which are modern warfare 2 and left 4 dead 2.
Let me once again describe my trouble playing these 2 games:
During my gameplay, the frame would suddenly freeze up and the sound would loop repeatedly. I often wait during this sound looping/frame freezing occurrence to hope that the game would return to normal, but that is really rare. Since the game is unable to run properly, I am required to go to task manager and end the game's task. As mentioned in my previous post regarding this problem, I searched on Google a and tried numerous solutions but it was no help. As I read one of the post I got from Google, I'm beginning to wonder if this is really a graphic driver problem, or perhaps it is a hardware problem like fault memory?

That is just a theory and I hope someone here can point me in the right direction to solve this annoying case.

Assistance would be much appreciated!
Please let me know if you need more information or files.

Maybe this should be moved because it has more to do with my GPU. My main GPU appears in Device Manager, but when I play games they don't use/find my main GPU.
-Original Post-
Hey, my computer got stuck going into sleep mode. I seem to have lost a podcast file, but, otherwise, things seems to be okay. My main problem is now my games are running slower (same settings). I think, the games are using the MoBo's integrated graphics, but I don't know how to check if that's the case. I checked both Display Adapters and Windows tells me they are working properly.
EDIT: I am on the setup menu of a game and my GPU isn't an option. Seems like a problem.

Hello everyone,

[tl;dr]DX9 games consistently crash and cause a system freeze an indeterminate amount of time after loading. (Average 3 minutes) This issue even occurs during clean boots. Furmark, ɣ-cruncher, AIDA64 stress tests all last 12 hours without issue. Memtest and disk error check pass with no issues. DX10 games (eg. LotRO) play without encountering the issue.

After dealing with this issue for an unknown amount of time, I decided to start with a fresh install of Windows and proceed from there. I initially assumed the issue was due to the system configuration, so I continued by customizing Windows and running Windows Updates, installing drivers, and installing any necessary programs and games. After the installations completed, I decided to run stress tests. Furmark ran at max settings for 12 hours with no issues (no artifacts, no graphical issues, no overheating). AIDA64 ran for 12 hours with no issues. ɣ-Cruncher ran for 8 hours using 7 GiB of RAM with no issues. Memtest comp... Read more

Ok so, I was browsing the web when my laptop suddenly restarted - on restart was greeted by a small blue square saying something like..."there is a problem, check newly installed hardware or software etc." and a line saying starting memory dump...100, i figured it for a virus at first so i restarted.

Used CCleaner to check programs opening on startup and found a few .exe's which i didnt recognise - coming from AppData/Local/Temp etc. So ran a full malware check with MalwareBytes AntiMalware - returned one of the files and removed it and i deleted the rest. Turned on in the morning and the same blue screen greets me, I restart again, safe mode, and check for viruses - nothing.

So I let the blue screen continue, dumps the memory and restarts. Seems to be working fine then after 20mins of browsing - blue screen again and crash. Backing my computer up now an... Read more

There's something I ask you to clarify, how come you have both via audio and creative labs? Perhaps removed your creative card but still having its drivers left? If so uninstall all Creative software and drivers and sweep its remnants with the Driver Sweeper:

This issue has been aggravating me for a while and I really want it to be taken care of. Since I bought this computer, mostly all my games have been crashing on me, and I'd say about 90% of the games I play just randomly crash or gives me the blue screen of death, most often the blue screen of death.

Here are my specifications as I'm sure that someone will be asking for it:

4 Gb of OCZ RAM
i5 750 2.7GHz
XFX Radeon HD 5870
MSI P55-GD65 mobo
1 Tb of HDD memory...

Running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, using Corsair H50 liquid cooling as my main source of cooling and a Silverstone Strider 1000W PSU. GPU is always updated to its latest, BIOS has never been updated (still at 1.1 or something, I've seen the site and there's an option about updating it to 1.7 but I've heard bad things about updating BIOS), and my CPU is usually 29 ?C, sometimes spiking to something like 38 ?C for a few seconds when I'm gaming. I know a virus isn't causing this because I've wiped my hard drive a few times already.

If you guys need anymore information, please ask...

Hello all.
I am new to these forums and need some help. Many of the other posts are of BSOD's, but mine is different. Outside of games my computer performs and runs perfectly fine and same with games, until recently.

Just recently (no, i have not installed ANYTHING) my computer started crashing during games only. It's wierd because normally people get BSOD, but in my case i get repeating sound and still image. Even if i let it sit there for a while it still doesnt give me a blue screen. I am forced to reboot using my reset button. At first it was only with CoD2, which i thought it was specific only to that game, but the other day i was playing EQ2 and the sound froze and image froze. The sound, lets say of me slashing, keeps repeating.

I have the latest drivers for my Graphics card and for my sound card and dont know why this started happening. The wierd thing is that i havent installed anything. Ive diagnosed my HD and nothing comes up, ive scanned my comp and its clean, ive yet to check the ram but willdo tonight. I hope its not the ram, and its compatible w/my Mobo (checked before i bought it). Ill try updating as many drivers as possible, but again... it shouldnt be this because it ran perfectly earlier with these drivers.

Ive had a chipset problem on my mobo a long time ago, but doubt it was this because that was about 2 months ago and games have been running fine afterwards (of course, until now). Also, Ive had SP2 from the getgo, so it shouldnt b... Read more

I recently put together my first computer and everything has been going wonderfully, up until I started playing games.
The other night I was playing an online FPS and the computer suddenly crashed and I got a blue screen with an error message that dissapeared too fast for me to read.
However I've gone and attached the minidump file in my post.
The problem has returned 4 times already and I'm starting to get worried, I'm not quite sure what to do.
It only happens when I play games though, which is different from the other posts I've read...

If anyone could help me out, I'd very much appreciate it! ;3

Though the comp seems to crash the most during games, it has also crashed while using the internet, and on the desktop with nothing but programs and windows open. It doesn't always give me BSOD, sometimes it just freezes and system manager cannot be called up. One time it even cut out the sound of the game after stuttering for a second. A minute later the rest of it froze.

I used Blue Screen View and it seems to source ntoskrnl.exe as the main culprit though others like blbdrive.sys and win32k.sys have also showed up.

Recently my computer has begun to crash in the middle of games (Counter strike and League of Legends). The crash happens abruptly while playing, the screen tears the image completely where nothing on the screen is now identifiable, just shreds of the image/colors/pixels. The PC then stops all tasks and continues to run with the frozen image on the screen with no sound or anything running. I have to hard reset and hold the power button. The computer runs fine right after, a slow boot up at most. I know my CMOS battery is dying due to the clock on my computer losing time. Is could that be a problem linked to this?

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hey, I'm not sure what's happening. I built a gaming rig and it's been playing Steam games just fine, but when I play non-steam games it crashes. I used a blue screen viewer and uploaded a screenshot of it so my friend could see it, but he couldn't figure it out. I'll put it here to see if anyone can help me with it.

A:BSOD when running some games, not when running other games

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. If empty (or non existent) please look in the following folders. C:\windows (the dmp should be called memory.dmp), and C:\windows\LiveKernelReports\Watchdog.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump... Read more

Hey guys,

So i've had this build for a few months now. It is my first build. Here are the specs:
Intel Core i5-4690K
Zotac GTX 970
8GB Ram
Asus Z-97-A mobo
Windows 8.1

When i'm playing big games such as BF4 or GTA V, it likes to crash midway through the game constantly. I can play BF4 for a while before it crashes back to the desktop and i cannot play GTA for more than 10 minutes before it does the same. Sometimes these games even causes a BSODr. As well as, Crysis 3 just completely crashes and freezes my computer after a very short time of playing,

Also sometimes when i'm rendering a video in Sony Vegas Pro 13, i get a BSOD too.

I think it may be to do with my graphics card but i just can't quite put my finger on it. My GPU drivers are all updated.

Any ideas?

Edit, here is the DM file thing. ATIF-21_12_2015_160428_80.zip

Ever since I installed new RAM, which was 2 sticks of Silicon Power 8x2 RAM, my games have been crashing, and occasionally, I will get a blue screen of death. I tried using my original RAM, but it only uses 4gb out of 8gb, and some of my games won't launch. I tried ordering 2 sticks of 4gb RAM, but the problem keeps occurring. I have also tried to switch around my RAM in every combination, to no avail. I'm out of ideas, and I need some help.

Hi! Recently (past month or two) My computer has had sudden crashes during certain games (Warframe, HOTS) while during others (DayZ) it can run without any interruption for hours. It's become more frequent (still the same games) recently and has become quite the problem. At first I wasn't sure if it was hardware or software related. I tried re-installing my drivers but nothing changed. Thought it may have been DirectX related but I read up on how to re-install it and wasn't sure I knew how to handle that process properly without messing anything up further. Ran a sfc /scannow a few times. I had corrupted files pop up but was told it was most likely not the cause of any crashes as the corruption was due to a recent windows update and my problem has been going on for months. Some important things to note:- I've been playing HOTS for over a year with no problems until around 2 months ago when it started crashing my computer.- Warframe is a game I've picked up recently (Past week or so) and had no problems initially (first day or 2) but it's gotten to the point where it'll crash within the first 10 mins of me launching the game.- I've closed all running programs with both games to make sure there weren't any conflicting programs and still crashed. (also can play DayZ with anything open and have no problems)- I've verified both. Warframe had errors I re-installed multiple times through both steam and their site but still crash. HOTS came up with no errors when I did a rep... Read more

Hello, I'm new here and have signed up and posted after a few days of frustration (this has been happening for at least a few weeks, I just haven't been able to do anything about it until I just got fed up and scoured the internet). 95% of what I read on the internet says that it must be an overheating problem. But I can play wow for 20 hours straight if I wanted and it wouldn't crash my computer. Then I looked at the details in the "The system has recovered from a serious error" report, googled some of them, and was led to this site. I will list the error reports, and what info I can about my system. Any help would be so greatly appreciated. I'm such a noob and desperately need help. I've also noticed a few other strange things, such as some programs (itunes, adobe flash player, ect.) not being able to be installed, and windows updater seems to have completely dissapeared. Whether this is related, or otherwise, I'm not sure but thought it may be helpful.

This computer is brand new and just over a week old, and when playing a game, upon either tabbing out, or back into the game after having been tabbed out, I sometimes get BSOD. For example, I was playing Metro 2033, then I tabbed out and open Chrome to look up something, then when I tabbed back into the game, I was greeted with a BSOD. Using BluescreenViewer to see the minidump files, the issues seem to be caused by win32k.sys and ntoskrnl.exe. Just wanna figure out why this is happening and I'm worried if it's my hardware. To my knowledge all drivers are properly updated.

I have upgraded my CPU from Core 2 Duo 2.6mhz, to Core 2 Quad Q9500, and I had to upgrade the BIOS for my motherboard before that
MB type: GA-EP35-DS4

Everything worked fine for that, except when I run a game, it takes it about 10 to 12 minutes before it just crash and close itself (with no any error message), currently with:
Deus Ex: HR, Starcraft 2, Minecraft
I only get the error reporter for the games (if they had one) and no useful information I can get from them
I suspected the heat issue, so I bought a new cooler, the heat now in sticking on 37, no more
but still I am having this issue

My configuration are:MB: GA-EP35-DS4
CPU Intel C2Q, Q9500
8 GB RAM (Kingston) (2gb x 4 sticks)
Nvidia GTS 450 (As GPU)
Nvidia 9500 GT (As physix)
320GB HDD WD (for system)
500 watts power supply
Now I am thinking about the power supply, but the thing is everything was OK before, and I did not face any power issues before, all the problems started after I upgraded my bios and CPU

I checked the heat status and voltage status with CPU-Z stuff, but I am not fimiliar with the correct voltage values for RAM and CPU

Any suggestions about the issue?

PS: And the windows was on my computer since Jul 2009, and I would love to keep it from that date, I would not prefer re-installation unless there is no other option)

A:BSOD Crash when in Modern 2016 games such as Fallout 4, and more

The 6/30 9:05PM dump points to xusb22.sys dated 10/30/2015. This belongs to the Microsoft Xbox 360 Common Controller for Windows Driver.
There is an updated driver 6/26/2016 from MS in the upcoming Redstone release scheduled for August 4th I believe.

I don't know if this driver is the actual cause of a problem as normally MS files are not. Usually something else is the actual culprit. In this case I wonder since the XBOX support is still fairly new. Also I don't see anything in any of the dumps I've looked at that point to anything else.

Nothing else useful in the dumps I looked at. Give Driver Verifier a try, see if that flushes out any driver problems:

Driver Verifier is a diagnostic tool built into Windows 10, it is designed to verify both native Microsoft drivers and third party drivers. Driver Verifier's verification process involves putting heavy stress on drivers with the intention of making bad, outdated, incompatible or misbehaving drivers fail. The required result is a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) which will generate a crash dump for debugging purposes.
Machines exposed to Driver Verifier will run very sluggishly due to the stress being applied to the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable in Windows 10

It is not advised to run Driver Verifier for more than 48 hours at a time. Disable Driver Verifier after 48 hours or after receiving a BSOD, whichever happens soonest.

Always create a Restore Point prior to enabling Driver Verifier.

Ok, here's the story. I am a gamer. I play some games on my computer. Not a ton, but a few.

And most of the time the games work great, no story needed here.

However, I've noticed an odd crash that happens when I play more intense games, ones that I have downloaded.
The 3 games that the crash happens when I play are Mine craft, Guild Wars 2, and Edge Of Space, a beta game. The only thing I can find in common with these games is
#1 I bought them all
#2 They all had to be downloaded
#3 The all have large over worlds

That's honestly it. Now let me tell you what the crash itself does.

First, the computer screen goes ALL black. The monitor is still on, but the monitor light says it's sleeping, and nothing I can do can wake it back up. Also, usually if there was any sound playing when the crash happened, the sound that had just played in the last few seconds will repeat on a short loop for about 4-8 seconds, before the sound stops with a dull whine.

No keys do anything, moving the mouse does nothing, turning the monitor on and off does nothing.
The only thing that will fix this Is holding down the power button and turning it back on, or just unplugging the computer itself.

I highly doubt this is a virus, as the games are all coming from pretty trustworthy websites, and I have a safe computer. Also, this crash only happens when I play these games.

Also, something that might be very important, Rune scape DOES NOT crash, or if it does it happens very rar... Read more

A:Why does my computer crash when playing games?

Hi and Welcome to TSG!

First of all, you have not told us what computer you have. This makes it very hard to provide any level of help for your situation. Please run the TSG System Information Utility and post the results back here in a reply. If your computer is a prebuilt system from a company such as Dell, HP etc please also provide us with the make and model #. If it is a Dell computer please also provide the service tag which will be located on a sticker on your computer. If you have made any changes to a prebuilt system please also list them (eg additional graphics card: added a GeForce 650 ti). For your situation we also need to know what PSU you have, please post the make, model # and wattage.

One possibility is that your computer is overheating as you suspected. There are a number of monitoring programs which will give you the temperature of various components in your computer. However, these can be unreliable. Unless its a program designed for your computer.

Another possibility is that you are overloading your computer and your power supply is insufficient. Please provide the voltages across the 3.3V, 5V and 12V rails. These can either be found in your BIOS or from monitoring software as mentioned above.

Generic Monitoring programs include SpeedFan, HWMonitor Pro, Pc-Wizard, Open Hardware Monitor, Real Temp and Core Temp.

As generic programs I recommend you use both SpeedFan and HWMonitor Pro. Attach screen shots of both programs to a reply. Attach two screen ... Read more

A while back, I upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 64bit.

Sense then my computer has crashed constantly while playing games. I can keep it on for hours working on Zbrush, 3ds max or photo shop, but with games I keep crashing. Sometimes its quick and vicious.Other times is slow and cruel. Letting me enjoy my favourite games for about four hours before dying before my very eyes.

I tried reformatting the computer, this did not work. I tried sending it in on service, they found nothing wrong with the hardware.

It is getting really annoying, not to mention depressing. if anyone here knows what I can do to solve this, I'd be very grateful.

Howdy folks! In the past few days, I have gotten many BSOD's while browsing the web, playing games, or talking to people on Teamspeak 3. Usually the
BSOD/crash hits me usually an hour in while I'm doing those things in a session. Before I did get BSOD's and crashes but they were few and spread out. I never responded to them because they happened very sparsely. Now that they are very constant, I need to do some action. I have went into safe mode right now and am typing this on another computer. Oh and this problem started Saturday, May 7th 2012.

As for the dmp files, I was a noob and didn't have the option for the BSOD crashes to save dmp files but now that that is enabled, I do have one dmp file that I can share.

Also I have noticed that sometimes that when the computer crashes, the sound becomes very distorted, the screen tears/fuzzes into a static-like image and then it just restarts. I either get this kind of crash or just a simple BSOD. Sometimes, the sound just distorts, I see a black screen and then the PC restarts. Not even a distorted image.

Both RTCORE64.sys (MSI) and asacpi.sys from 2005 and loaded in the only DMP file present.

Those need to be updated before we can do any underlying investigation.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: Asus tek computer inc. -support- drivers and download p7p55d le

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5K-VM

Scroll down to the utilities category, then scroll down to the "atk0110 driver for windowsxp/vista/windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).

Download and install it.

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the asacpi.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (not before).

Firefox Crash Report for Reference:

About a week ago I started getting this issue on Firefox: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ

The issue also causes games to crash such as Overwatch and Rocket League which causes a, " Overwatch stopped working in the graphics driver" issue, and can also on some instances cause BSoD.

I also tried to install Fortnite and ran into constant corruption errors and install loops, which is supposedly due to hardware errors or the HDD not being NTFS (Which both are).

I understood this to be a GPU error, however I ran the following tests to rule out any other possibilities:
Undertaken all windows updates both optional and mandatory (Updates are not automatic)
Updated GPU driver + rolled back to various drivers (From 388.13 to 384.94)
Uninstalled recently installed software in-case of conflict
Clean installations of Firefox and Chrome from various versions to beta
Command prompt "sfc /scannow" with no issues
Disabled and enabled hardware acceleration to test both
Ran software in safe-mode to see if it was an extension problem
Changed dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode to true in Firefox
Ran full virus checks on both C and F drives with the results at 100... Read more

Zip of dump files attached. This problem has been happening for approximately three months. I've not changed any hardware in that time. I've been using the same installation and same copy of Windows for approximately two years without issue.

Thanks very much for your help.

Counterfeit installations such as yours contains heavily modified code that causes the installation to behave it unexpected ways. Analysing BSOD's and determining their causes on these sorts of installations is very unreliable.

My recommendation is to start with a clean slate, and install a genuine version of Windows. This will minimise the problems you are experiencing, and make subsequent diagnosis of BSOD's far more reliable.
