playlist dilemma

Q: playlist dilemma

Hi,

Anyone know a good app for making playlists to put on an mp3 player? I have tried Windoze Media and Itunes and neither will put a playlist on my player. Winamp will do it but for some odd reason, sometimes my player won't acknowledge it. The triforce is with you!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello. Recently, my iTunes library crashed deleting all my library information and playlists from its file system, yet strangely preserved my music files. Fortunately, however, I used a program called iTunes Exporter to convert my Top Rated playlists which were sorted by order of date added. Right now I still have the .m3u playlist of the songs in the order that they were in the Auto Playlist.

Upon this crash, I have decided to make the jump to Windows Media Player 11. I have transferred all my songs onto WMP 11, and have also transferred the two playlists. There, however, still is a problem remaining. I want to be able to make an Auto Playlist that will automatically add my Top Rated songs and sort them in Descending order of its Date Added, but most importantly, be able to continue on in the Auto Playlist from the list of already sorted 4000+ songs I have in my prior playlist.

Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I thank you for your time in advance.

On playlist.com, the playlist will not load in Firefox (just a grey square box), but it will load in Internet Explorer. Their FAQ said it probably has to do with my security settings.

I have NoScript addon, but I have it turned off for that site. I also have Adblocker. Neither of these seems to interfere as I disabled them and it still wouldnt work.

Is there a security setting in Firefox where I can lower all security barriers to a certain site?

Friends: I am trying to set up a Playlist of songs which can be played only from their URLs. I set up the URL Playlist in RealPlayer but the songs can only be played if clicked manually one at a time. This not what I want. What I want is the songs to be played one after the other automatically directly from their URLs. Any pointers how to do this? Or is there a better media player more suited for this? Windows XP Pro. I've known about the existence of playlists, but I've never used the function.  In fact, I'm not even sure that that the playlist function can be used like I THINK it can be used or that I hope it can be used.  So, I want to find out what exactly a playlist is and IF it can be used like I'm hoping it can be used.

Since I no longer have a cassette player, but still have tons of great music on my cassettes that I don't have on CDs, I started recreating that music collection on my Flash Drive via the YouTube downloading route.

I already have many YouTubes downloaded and organized in folders as per music genre, decade and artist.  Here is what I'm wondering:  For example --- in my Huey Lewis & the News folder I have 3 sub folders, one each for 3 different albums.  NOW ... is there such a thing as that with the playlist function I can fix it so that by double clicking on one VLC icon in that sub folder, it will play ALL of the songs in that sub folder in the order that I had the songs on the cassette?  You know ... instead of having to double click on each song's VLC icon as I have to do currently?  Yeah, as it stands right now, I cannot have an entire album play from a folder without having to manually start each next song when the previous one ends.

CAN this be done with the playlist function.  And of course, I want it to be permanent, activated by the double clicking of an icon.  I don't want to have to set u... Read more

I have a playlist in iTunes for the majority of my alternative songs, however the playlist is about 400 songs long, so when i add new songs to the playlist, they are added to the bottom of the list and I have to drag each indivual song to the top. My question is, how do I set my iTunes so when i add a song to a playlist its added to the top, not the bottom of the list?

Double click on the playlist icon to have the playlist in a separate window, then drag the song over and you can position it wherever you like.

I recently had to redo my library and noticed a problem with a previous playlist. It shows that some songs cannot be found. They have not been moved or been modified. I looked in the file with notepad and noticed that all the songs that aren't being found are missing a part of the file location address (I don't know what it would actually be called). Basically it shows this: <media src="Country\George Strait\ when it should be this: <media src="..\Country\George Strait\ All its missing is the ..\ This seems to be missing randomly. When I add that part back in and save the file it shows it is found in WMP. This gets annoying in a large playlist and library. Has this already been addressed? Is there anything on my end that may be causing this? The files haven't been moved, renamed or used in any other program.

Hi Tysle! Sorry to hear you are having problems with YouTube but they have been making changes and that may be the reason why you see things changed in what you are viewing. As for the triangular button you ask about, it is meant to be a Speed Boost button! Sorry if this is in the wrong board.

Today I was going through one of my Windows Media Player playlists, and I went into Library and sorted it by Name. Previously, it was ordered by the date I'd added the songs (which is the way I wanted to keep it).

At first, when I clicked the Name column two more times, it reverted back to its original order, but when I went back to it, it had reverted back to ABC order again (by Artist).

I tried sorting it by Date Added, but it's not accurate and the majority of songs seem to be added on one day (which isn't true - I also don't recall anything special happening on that particular day which could have affected it), and a lot of the songs don't have any dates at all.

Also, the playlist seems to have been saved. Is there any way I can restore the original order?

Thanks in advance.

I would like to import all my music which is on WMP on a windows 8.1 pc, to a new windows10 pc.
I do have WMP which comes pre installed, but I've not been able to find a way to /import/copy to the new win's 10.
The 8.1 (old one) has a dvd/cd player and i copied all my albums and other cd's to the WMP, but my new one (10) doesn't have cd player/recorder optical drive built in, just usb ports.
Is there a way to import my music from WMP on 8.1 to WMP on 10.
Or failing that is it worth buying a usb plug in optical drive and copy the actual cd's.
The 8.1 is getting a bit old (like me) and I'm copying all my important stuff to new pc, thats why I bought it.
I would be very grateful if anyone knows about this and what would be my best course of action. Thank you.

It doesn't have any files in it it just sites there and makes my computer screwy because it tries to find it when it updates my files. It no longer exists in my documents but wmp won't let me delete it. Any ideas? Like is there a refresh or anything like that. I have tried the update library but it doesn't do it.

It must be me...
I fondly imagined that, having patiently built a set of folders (Artist\Album\Track) on myh PDA's CF card that WMP would display the folder name as its playlist 'title' and just play the tracks therein. What *actually* happens is that EVERY track is munged into one huge playlist, making having a playlist pointless.

Can anyone advise how I can set up WMP so that I can select a folder name and have just the tracks under it played? I am more than happy to switch to another (free) MP3 player provided it can do the above *and* uses my collection of WMP skins (I have a rather nice iPod one) or comes with same or can use WMP skins.

I'm hoping that someone out there can help me with this. I recently purchased a non iPod mp3 player. It's a SanDisk Sansa m240. It was cheap and it's really all I need for what I'm going to use it for. Anyway, getting more to the point... using Windows Media Player to create playlists for it is a pain and WinAmp has turned out to be even worse.

Here's what I'm looking for: Software that looks at filenames and not id3 tags. Software that lets me create a playlist and then move the files associated with that playlist to my mp3 player in the form of a playlist. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Media Player only sees the tags, so it's tough searching through my music collection for the songs that I want and some of which doesn't even seem to be there. I can drag and drop files to my mp3 player, but then I'm forced to listen to them in alphabetical order from A to Z. I'd prefer to have band x in a playlist titled band x, and these songs in a playlist titled playlist x.

Is there some freeware out there that I'm not finding that's exactly what I'm looking for? Or if Media Player is my best option then can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

EDIT: Either I'm doing something wrong or well... I don't know if there's an or, I've just gotta be doing something wrong. I used Windows Media Player to create a few playlists. Then went to the sync screen and used the program ... Read more

Today i just downloaded the wmp 11 to give it a try, everything is pretty good except one thing that i would perfer to be like wmp 10, is the playlist. When i was using wmp 10, i didnt have to do anything and it saves a temp playlist for me by itself. For instance, i drag the song#1 and song#2 to the playlist on the right hand side, after i close the wmp and open it again it'll still have those 2 songs there on the list. But right now, everything is gone after i restart the program, i'll have to drag all the songs in again. Are there any way to change the setting to make it not erase anything from the list after a restart?

Thanks !!~

Hi, is there a piece of software or media player out there capable of backing up or syncing music playlists? I'm not exactly looking to backup the music files themselves, just the playlist names and a track record of what is inside them? I like to keep my settings in the cloud just in case of a HDD failure.

A:Playlist backup/sync?

Your question is deceptively simple. Most playlists are just text files with the names and locations of songs. So, in theory, you should just be able to copy the playlist to the appropriate back-up medium -- a CD-R, an external hard drive, etc. -- and copy it back. As long as nothing has changed, it should work. There's a good definition of playlists at Wikipedia. The sections on Computers and Types of Playlist Files might be helpful. What application or device are your playlists being used for?

A:need to print a song playlist , how?

What do you mean by playlist? Are you simply wanting a text file of all the songs you have in a directory? If so, you can bring up a DOS prompt and use the DIR command to ouput the contents to text file. Bring up a DOS window by clicking START and then type CMD. When the DOS window comes up just type the directory containing the songs you want listed and then specify where you want the text output file to be.

In the DOS window you could type

dir c:\music /b > c:\music\songlist.txt

This will create a text file containing all the files in the directory C:\Music and will output the list to a textfile called Songlist.txt in the same directory.

P.S. this does not use Word it uses Notepad which you should already have.

If you prefer, you can also load all the songs into Winamp and use the generate HTML Playlist option.

I am working on a database that stores my mp3 collection. At the moment I have a form with the Windows Media player inserted and a combo box containing the list of songs. The user can browse through the songs from the combo box and the selected song will play.

I am looking for something more advanced where I can have a listbox for the songs. The user will select all the songs of their choice and this will then go into another listbox perhaps? so that a playlist can be made and the media player will play each one in turn. Hi,

I wasn't sure where to post this issue, so please feel free to move the thread to the correct section.

Basically, it's a minor, yet annoying, issue with Youtube...

Whenever I favourite videos, the videos do not save as the most recent videos I've favourited, in my favourites playlist... Instead they save as the oldest videos I've favourites, therefore meaning If I want to play a video I favourited yesterday for example, I need to travel back pages on pages of favourites to find it...

I understand if nobody can solve the issue, considering it is afterall, very minor and something Youtube based..

Thanks.

I have a problem with my iPod. I have a Volvo car and can connect the iPod to the radio as if it was a CD changer. It plays the first nine playlists as if they were CDs on the CD changer.
In order to play something else I need to rename the playlists so that others are in the first nine places. I can only do this using iTunes currently. Can I do the changes from the iPod or is it only possible from iTunes?.
Further is it possible to set up the playlist names in batches of nine so that each batch can be selected as required?.[/FONT]

A:Ipod Playlist Renaming

as far as I know, you'll have to decide what music you want to hear before you drive off, and then do the selections on itunes. Ipod, as you realize, will play everything into your ear that's on it by headphone, but your car radio resp. CD changer is limited. It basically thinks it's playing CDs (MP3 or 4 etc.) and will work in accordance within a limited number of folder and files that it can take, going by the respective preference layer in that they're stored on yur ipod (It treats ipod as a CD oras CDs wit the changer). Playlists in batches of nine will only work to the point where your Volvo has reached max.count. Say from x onwards it won't read beyond. I've got the same problem and short of getting a car radio with. say a USB input, BUT ALSO the same GB space as the ipod so that they are identical in capacity, I decided to make advance plans for the music I want to hear on the upcoming journey.

i have windows xp with windows media player 9. i have 134 mp3 songs in a folder that i am trying to save to a playlist in a specific order. i used software to reduce the song lengths to about 2 minutes and have added spoken quotes into and around the songs.i thought i could just reorder the songs by renaming them by inserting letters at the beginning of the song name to achieve the desired alphabetical order. so when they are in the folder they are listed in the correct order, then i drag them into a new WMP playlist.WMP proceeds to rename, reorder and destroy my desired sequence.i know i can start with a blank playlist and tediously drag the songs over individually and then save the playlist, but wmp while keeping the correct sequence will still rename the song to something else. is there a basic player that has a playlist that i can create that keeps the song named what i named it and the order the same and doesnt try to think too much ha.i tried winamp with no luck.

I asked on their website but I figure I may get more 'hits' here. I have a huge database (playlist) of MP3s I have created on well over 2 dozen CDs. Perhaps if I had given them all names this wouldn't have happened but that is water under the bridge. The application creates a hashed algorhythm name for each CD using means unknown to me. I can edit and modify the list as needed which I have done over the last few months. I experienced technical issues with my 98se OS and decided to upgrade to Win2k. Everything works fine now but it seems (at least with the first CD that I tried) that the name associated with that CD is now different. I believe somehow the OS is involved in the creation of the disk name and obviously that is now different. I would like to be able to still use the "OLD" name. The alternative is:
- slice my wrists
- go postal on J River
- Redo (reload) each CD figuring maybe an hours work per disk deleting the duplicate entries, renaming stuff, etc.

backing out win2k is a non option obviously
