Preferred Solution: Comodo Cloud AV provokes " X the application was unable to start correctly"

I recommend trying the free service from Zip Cloud. It's currently our users' favorite backup and storage solution and will save you headaches down the line.

You can get it direct from this link http://goo.gl/rFYDxc. (This link will open the Zip Cloud homepage.)

A: Comodo Cloud AV provokes " X the application was unable to start correctly"

Are the programs digitally signed and the signers on Comodo's Trusted Vendors List? If not they'll be run inside the sandbox which would make a lot programs not function properly.
You'll know if they're being run inside the sandbox by a green outline around the border of the program's window.

Hi I recently discovered my computer was having problems after downloading the trial version of Corel Painter 12. When its finished installing, this message pops up, I've included pic of it as well. The same error message pops up when I try to run Bitfinder Antivirus that I purchased last night in hopes it would help. It downloads but gives me that Application error, "the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)" the bitdefender gives me the same error but says seccenter.exe- application error at the top then "the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)"I also ran the scan disk and it didnt fix it. Please help!!! also ran the scan now for windows 7 in administrator command prompt. it says system scan windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations. I dont know what to do

What is up Tenforums? It has been quite a long time since I came for some actual support :P. Some of you may know who I am from SevenForums from a looooong time ago. But anyway, as the title suggests, I've been constantly getting this error while trying to run some applications (specifically games) and this all started when I had to reinstall Windows 10 on my laptop (specs below) since I was running into issues such and infinite booting. Here is a list of things I have tried in order to fix this issue.
- I've Googled some specific DLLs that I need commonly to be present in System32 and SysWOW64 and I've copied, pasted and replaced them but to no avail. This was one of the most common fixes I found.
- I've tried reinstalling .NET framework 3.5 hoping that it might work, nope. I did manage to reinstall .NET 3.5 but the problem still persists. I didn't manage to reinstall .NET framework 4.6.1 and higher yet but I don't think it might be of any help.
- Installed some VC Redist runtimes from 2012, 2013 and 2015 as well. Nothing still.
- I tried to run the applications as administrator, again nothing.
- Ran SFC, and it found some errors that it was unable to fix. I'll attach the CBS Log in the next post if that is of any help.
That is all I have done till now and boy it was a really long winded process for nothing. I would really appreciate it if someone is able to help me fix my issue at this point. It seems quite hopeless to be honest. Thanks!

Help! This all started on my laptop running win 7 after I ran a check disc and the computer deleted and updated a ton of files. Whenever I start the computer, I get to the logon screen, click my name, plug in my password, and get the message in the thread title. At first I started getting a message that the task manager was unable to start correctly, then after doing some diagnostic tests that went away and this is what I have now.

I ran the "sfc /scannow" program from the command prompt several times, but each time got the message "windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations". I also ran a scan disc, hase tried system restore but the problem is still there. Any suggestions? I am able to run find in Safe Mode but of course am limited in what I can do.

After shutting down my laptop last night. I started it up today and I get ""The application was unable to start correctly(0xc000007b)" for every program and startup programs. Of course when I restart a few times sometimes things like bitdefender run but I can't actually open it or access its settings. I can't access device manager, system restore or any of those settings. And it won't let me use my wireless card. I can only do things in safe mode. When I try to system restore from safe mode. It fails when it starts up in normal windows mode. I dont know what happened to cause this problem. I didn't change any settings or download any new programs.

My PC is a 4 year old HP Pavilion 23 with Windows 8.1 OS. After using Bit-defender for years, I wasn't thrilled with their pricing so I downloaded Comodo Cloud AV Free Version. I began receiving frequent "pop ups" and various other complications. So I attempted to UNINSTALL the program and it will NOT UNINSTALL!
I went to their "Geek Guys" for help and they want $70+++ to "fix it". I believe the legal term for this tactic is FRAUD! What would be the best government agency to report them to?
I have down loaded and am currently a subscriber for $20 a year with TOTAL AV. Even their program was unsuccessful at UNINSTALLING Comodo. IF the is NO way to UNINSTALL it, is it going to adversely affect my PC in ANY way?

Any quick help would be greatly appreciated. I was trying to fix some BSOD's and windows update issues on a friend's pc. I thought i was successful until i kept getting "Setup has detected that .NET Framework 4 needs to be repaired. Do not restart your computer until the repair is complete."

After some research, I thought I could resolve the issue with the .net framework cleanup tool. After attempting that, now I get the "Application was unable to start properly (0xc0150004)" error message. The only program I've been able to start has been IE8. This also means I wasn't able to run the BSOD tool you guys provide for posting.

I've tried startup repair more than a couple times. Also tried system restore from the windows recovery environment and it said it was unable to complete. 50% of the time, when trying to get into the recovery environment or just the regular system, I get an "irql_less_or_not_eual" blue screen.

When i originally started working on the pc i cleaned a bunch of viruses off (or so i thought). I have a sneaking suspicion that this issue was caused by a virus with a sneaky backdoor and is masquerading as some .net files.

the system was built by my friend and has: Asus p5ql pro MOBO, Intel core 2 duo, currently 4gigs mem (2x2gb corsair), NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS and a WD HD.

I hope I've given some good starting information.

Thanks

cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly (0x0000142). Click ok to close the application

Anyone know why it happened?

I got this error when I tried to restart to install an update. However, in windows update, it showed I had nothing to update. There was the little yellow shield by the shut down button to indicate it was installing an update when I would shutdown.

I rebooted fine, and CMD works fine. Is it possible windows thought it had to install something, and the installer had already installed the update (I went onto windows update earlier myself to install the windows and silverlight updates) and it bugged because maybe it had to use cmd to execute the update or something?

A:cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly

It seems to be happening again, but only when I shutdown when explorer is open. I tried and tested his multiple times. It has only happened after the new silverlight update and kb 30247777 (sorry if the number is wrong) update.

What is causing this?

The same thing happens in safe mode.

I tried sfc/scannow, chkdsk, and the Windows repair, all to no avail.

Since last night, or earlier I don't know, I've been receiving a message every time I open up folders on my Task Bar, Paint, Calculator, or Sticky Notes from the Start Menu. It basically says
ApplicationName.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application.

I could still open up folders by going from another route such as control panel or from my desktop, but if I try to open it up where I pinned it on the Task Bar, that message hops up. This happens to other applications and I've been trying to ask my brother but he just said i was screwed but decided to ask his wife if she can help, but she got pissed and yelled that I should ask by myself, and now there's a tension. So I asking my family is kind of out of the question now...

I just got this computer 2-3 months ago and this happens. I didn't install anything else besides Minecraft Mods (Don't judge me) and a game that's popular but I stopped the download halfway knowing I wouldn't really play it anyways.

Error 0X0000005 is "access denied" which implies somehow the ownership got messed up. Probably the Program Files folder. With all the installs things may be confused. Try right clicking on Program Files folder and clicking Take Ownership. If the selection is not there see this:

Take Ownership Shortcut

Naturally before doing anything make a restore point and/or back up Registry (google ERUNT) and/or do an image backup of your system if you have an external drive to store the image.

Hello,

I have this infamous error. I already googled a lot, but solutions worked. I'm trying to run opencpn.exe program, and get this error. This program worked before. Tried reinstalling, but nothing changed (even with different version of the program).
Therefore, error must be somewhere else.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

What I tried:

chkdsk C: /r (no errors found)
sfc /scannow (found some errors, but unable to fix)
reinstalling Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 C++ Redistributable x86 (Control Panel shows that I also have 2005 and 2008 versions, x64).
reinstalling .net framework 3.5 and 4.0
fixing registry with CCleaner

I have turned off Windows Restore, but anyways, I wouldn't know when to restore to, since last I checked that program was more than few months ago.

Problem still persists. I don't want to reinstall Windows just for this one thing.

Could someone please help me out?

Hi guys.

Now I know there have been MANY threads in relation to this ridiculous error but I have gone through all of them and tried all things. At least I think I have.

I have run Windows Repair Environment.
I have repaired/reinstalled C++, framework, DirectX.
I have downloaded the correct DLL files and gone into safe mode and place them in the Wendows/System32 files manually.
Even done the ChKDsk thing and it came up clean.

I have a fresh install of Windows as I recently had my HDD fail. I'm now running on a Samsung EVO 840 512GB SSD. However I had this issue before the migration took place.

I have no idea where to go from here. I am LOST! I would greatly appreciate your help with this one.

I think we need a lot more data to be able to have any hope of proper diagnosis - and I also think you may have made mistakes with your handling of the dll problems you mention.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

I just installed Windows 8.1 on a second hard-drive so that I can dual-boot between Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

I reinstalled all of my programs, games, etc and everything is absolutely amazing. Windows 8.1 is actually really fast!

Anyways... Everything is working great except 1 thing! I have a standalone .exe (requires no installation, so there's no direct connection to an OS via registry or anything) that will NOT open on Windows 8.1

If I attempt to open it on my Windows 8.1, I get the error "The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)"

but on my Windows 7, it works just fine..

I've done a LOT of research on this and I've read just about every article linked to this issue online and nothing has worked.

Here's what I've done..

1. Re-installed Visual C++. I did for every year, i.e. 2005, 2008, 2010, etc.

2. Replace the 5 DLL's for Visual C++ while in Safe-Mode and then restart.. I was only able to replace 4 of them, the last one was giving me permission troubles for some reason. It was called "msvcr100_clr0400.dll"

3. Run a debugger (WinDbg) and use Application Verifier to try and pinpoint the problem. Tried this, but the program doesn't boot far enough to gather any information, and I can't really understand what WinDbg throws at me.

4. Use Dependency Walker to see if it points you to a DLL. When I use Dependency Walker, it has very minimal results.

I've looked up this error over and over and there's a 1000 "fixes" and none of them have worked for me.

Situation: Four years ago I purchased Windows 7 Home Premium Pack, which was a disk set with four licenses. I installed three of them on my wife's laptop, my laptop, and my desktop, all 32bit. I saved the 4th license for later.

Over the last year, many of my main software packages I've been using have dropped 32 bit in favor of 64. They are all related to Video editing. So I purchased a new 2TB hard drive and installed it in my desktop as a second boot drive. F12 on power up gives me the option to boot from my old 32bit drive or the new drive. I installed my final license on the new drive with a 64 bit version of Win7 Ultimate.

I then installed Adobe's Creative Suite CC, and it's programs seemed to work perfectly (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photo Shop, Etc.) But then I installed BlackMagic Design Resolve Lite and the problems began. When I double click on the icon, I get the error in the thread title: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)

At first I thought it was just a problem with this particular piece of software, but I received my new Autodesk 3d Studio Max yesterday, and when I try to start it, I get the same error. So I decided to check some other programs, and I found that Adobe Lightroom gives this error.

Now I don't use Resolve very much, so it wasn't a big deal, but I do use 3ds Max a lot, and Lightroom even more, so... Read more

A:HELP! The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)

First off, that 7b error i thought as I remember from earlier research almost always had to do with a hardware and/or driver issue.
Secondly, I don't know how you got a license key from Windows Home Prem 32bit to install Windows 7 ultimate 64bit system . That is never supposed to work.
Thirdly, maybe it was a wording bluder but you made reference to a 32bit drive and another drive you eluded to being 64bit. HDD's are not 32bit or 64bit, Maybe you were just referring to the OS software installed on them. I just tend to be more precise in my wording as word can easily mislead.

I hope someone can help.

I received an update for SmartFTP and updated. I have not used the application for months. After updating, I tried to run SmartFTP and up came the error message: The application was unable to start correctly 0x0000022

I checked other applications to see whether this affected all exe files. Other applications ran EXCEPT Corel Draw x8. I used Corel Draw a couple of weeks ago and it was OK.

I have uninstalled SmartFTP, restarted, reinstalled with the same problem.

I do not know whether this is related, but I was having a problem with Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition and ran a repair. VS Studio 2015 runs OK.

I am at a loss.

So a few days ago I installed some themes and other stuff like rain-meter and some torrents to my laptop, this evening the theme started acting up so I restarted my computers that is when I saw this message. Now I'm not sure what this is or how it happened but I need desperate help. I see that there are other people out there with a similar problem and the solution would be to do a system restore but the thing is my system restore doesn't work either. I am not a computer expert so please take it easy on me.
"System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed.

Recently, I've been unable to access my F: drive. When I double click on the drive I get en error that says "Application Not Found". I can, however right click on the drive and open it that way, it's just extremely annoying. It doesn't matter what device is set as the F: drive, be it a UBS drive, a virtual drive, or a CD/DVD drive, it gives me the same error. At first I thought maybe there was something wrong with my USB drive, but if I use the same USB drive as E:, G:, H: etc. it works perfectly fine. The problem seems to lie specifically with F: drive itself. I've run all my virus scans (Norton and Malwarebytes) as well as PC Tools Registry Mechanic and found nothing. I even restored my system to about a week ago with no results. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi JROC, Welcome to Seven Forums.

Connect your drive to the pc directly, open Disk Management, look for the drive, right click it and uninstall then reboot with it still connected.

For some reason, my "Recycle Bin" will not display the files within it with the correct filters while in the "Details" view.

For example, I have the "View" set to "Details", and the two columns I have showing are "Name" and "Type", with "Name" selected as the preferred sort order.

With those settings in place, the "Recycle Bin" is not displaying the files in the correct order.I am not sure of the order that it is displaying them, as I can't pick-up on any pattern.

For example, it is displaying:

"File0002.jpg"
"File0003.jpg"
"File0004.jpg"
"File0001.mp3"
"File0001.jpg"

When I adjust it again so it displays them in the correct order, the next time I open the "Recycle Bin", the order has returned to the incorrect display.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

Hello, I am trying to repair my son's HP G60-235DX laptop which recently began getting error messages when attempting to open .exe files. I have researched other sites and this forum and tried the following:
Edit registry per link: Can't open .EXE files in Windows 7 or Windows Vista
Run chkdsk /f /r
Check memory for errors using system utilities
Nothing is working. When I try to open any .exe file, I get this error message.
I cannot open IE or Firefox, so cannot access internet to download any fix utilities.
I have created a bootable CD and tried to restore to a previous point in time, but get messages that restore failed to extract D:\Windows\inf\asp.net\000A\aspnet_perf2.ini from the restore point and that restore point was damaged or deleted during restore procedure. Now restore points don't appear as available any longer. I have checked the logs and find the 0xc000005 message appearing with faulting app firefox.exe and faulting module xul.dll as well as faulting app qp.exe and faulting module _cdplayer.dll, so it appears there may be an issue with dll's. The antivirus installed on laptop is AVG 2013, but I can't even open that to scan for virus or malware. I can boot to CD, but it doesn't appear that I can access anything on C: drive. BTW: I did try to revert to an earlier version of IE before 10, but it appears that either no earlier version is available to revert to or it is corrupt and won't open. Additional messages in log are: The SCRegSetValueEXW call failed for fai... Read more

I'm trying to run an application called MySQL Workbench which has been working perfectly fine up until last week which now displays the error message below.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail and talking to the Microsoft support helpline I'm passed from department to department with no resolution.

I need this to do my uni coursework, I'm at my wit's end

A:Windows 10 0xc00000e5 application unable to start correctly

I believe 0xc000005e means that the initialization of in this case most likely a prerequisite failed what would mean that one or more programs that are required are either corrupted or not proper installed.
I do also have MySQL Workbench, but I'm not 100% sure what programs are required. I reinstalled it a short time ago, but I installed Visual Studio before it what could be the reason why no prerequisite programs were extra installed (they were installed when Visual Studio was installed).

I suggest to remove the software from Microsoft, like
Microsoft .NET Framework,Microsoft SQL Server,Microsoft Visual C++
and MySQL Workbench, download a new installation and try to install again.

Hi all,

PC was running fine and shut down correctly. Came to switch it back on and get the above error message on just about every application I click on. No errors on booting up to the Desktop though. Same problem whether it is a shortcut or the actual .exe file. Seems not to affect the 64 bit applications but all 32 bit applications will not start. Even clicking a .pdf document gives this error. Also seems that some Windows stuff is not working properly. For example I can access the Device Manager by clicking its icon directly in the Control Panel but not by clicking it from a a link in a different Control Panel section (just does not respond to the click).

System is Windows 7 X64. Last Windows update ran 3 days ago so I don't think t has anything to do with that?

I ran Bit Defender Anti Virus (up to date virus definitions, paid for version) and it ran OK as it is a 64 bit app and it did not find anything on the virus front. I don't think is is a virus. Also ran C Cleaner a few times. I have not tried a system restore yet but nothing new has been installed, only a Steam update ran in the previous session.

Any ideas welcome, a reformat is too much to consider right now Please help!

PS: I Google'd this and others reported similar issues about a year back and it was attributed to a bad Windows update back then.

A:Error: the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005).

If it was my computer after checking for infection which you have done. I would use the restore point. Then I would run
sfc /scannow as per this tutorial by Brink.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

The problem does have the smell of a infection or a PUP.
You could also run Malwarebytes.

No security program finds 100% of everything 100% of the time.

Then check Windows Updates.
If it gives new updates install them one at a time and verify no problems.

P/S: What big case do you have?

A while back some applications where giving me this error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.", programs like google chrome and a video encoder called Zarx264gui but i had to reinstall windows because of some virus and when i installed those applications again they where working but now they are giving me the same error. I'm a noob when it's something related to computers and i'm completly lost, i made some research and in some forums the solution had something to do with symantec or .NET framework but i don't have anything installed from symantec and i have the latest .NET framework installed still i can't get rid of this annoying error. I don't know if this is relevant but there was a time when i updated the computer and installed service pack 1 for windows 7 those applications worked for a little while but the error appeared again. As i said i'm completly lost and don't know what to do, if you have any idea of what is causing this error, well you know what to do >.< .

Thanks in advance.
