P51 Display calibration

Q: P51 Display calibration

Hi everyone, I've seen a lot of discussion on this topic but still could not find a solution for my case. So, I have a basic FHD display on my P51 and no integrated Pantone calibration tool. Could you please advise my which is the best way to calibrate the display (also has an issue with yellow tint). Do I need to by external device or just download certain color profile or software? Many thanks!

Preferred Solution: P51 Display calibration

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm using Vista and it has suddenly started placing the top of my display windows above the view of my monitor. It does this with my desktop icons also. Every page opens with the top of the window not in view,I have to blindly drag my mouse to the top in hopes of getting hold of it to pull it down.
the same for my desktop icons. I pull them down and they snap back up to the top almost out of sight.
I've checked my monitor display settings according to them it is centered correctly.I've checked the display settings on my pc. I'm using a new pc but the monitor is not new. Up until yesterday it was working correctly. ?????

Thank you. It's toughing getting an answer on this via email from Dell. So trying here!Thank you again.

Hi, i need help on Envy 15 x360 display calibration to solve the blurry dialogue box fonts i see. Thanks

A:Display calibration issue

Hey @Acapella_Kafs, Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 15 360 Notebook and issues with the screen refreshing every 2 or 3 seconds.  Sometimes the refresh rate set to 59 Htz causes issues. Simply switching it to 60 Htz has worked in the past. Click the Windows key and type Adjust screen resolution. Click Advanced settings. Click the Monitor tab, and then, under Screen refresh rate, click the screen refresh rate. Restart the Notebook and see if that fixed it. If that does not help, here is a link to change the resolution you might have to select the advanced setting to make sure your driver is being used. This is for Windows 8 but will work the same for Windows 10. Please get back to me how this goes. Please click the Thumbs up below to thank me for my efforts!  Thanks.

Some screens in certain apps do not display properly in the following ways:

A) The window I'm looking at extends below the bottom edge of the monitor so not all controls are visible. Even when I drag the window to the upper limit, a part of the window is still unseen, and in some cases there's functions I can't get to.

B) Sometimes text shown in fields within a window is too big for its field -- vertically and/or horizontally. Text that is truncated to the right cannot be scrolled through to see the hidden text. The effect is similar to what you see in a browser window when you increase the font size beyond what the page was designed for -- but of course these aren't browser windows so those controls don't work.

These problems do not occur within the Windows universe. So Outlook Express displays properly, Windows Explorer is fine, everything under Control Panel displays fine. Some programs where this happens are: Avast Anti-Virus; the print control window for my Lexmark Z45; my Second Copy back-up program. My Corel WordPerfect and Quattro Pro spreadsheet that came installed with the machine are both fine.

I have an LG Flatron L1715S monitor and an Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controller that came stock in my Dell Dimension 2350. The monitor did not come with the Dell, but when I first got it, and for several years thereafter, everything displayed fine. I've searched on these forums and google and I'm beginning to think I can't fix this problem. Basically what happens is this. Everytime my computer goes into Sleep or Hibernate mode, it resets the color calibration. If I restart/shut off the computer, the settings are OK. But only if I use sleep or hibernate. It just won't have the settings I have calibrated. This means I am going back into the calibration settings and changing them again. I have already been in the color management box and have tried with those settings. I'm begging for help, this is a very anoying problem >.<. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I have just purchased a Lenovo G50-45 Laptop. I do a lot of image editiong where color rendition is important. I notice right out of the box that it's color display was very cold in color temperature. I tryed to adjust the color calibration through the interal display functions with very little success. I then used a Spyder Color calibration sensor and was able to get a little closer to a properly calibrated display but it is still very cool in color and frankly very unsatisfactory. Is there a fix? Hi,

I recently got windows 7 for my desktop, and I have this 22'' monitor which looks really nice when properly calibrated (gamma, reds, etc). My problem is that every time I do a calibration, and let the computer either go to sleep, lock, turn off, the calibration resets to this ugly looking thing. What's worse, every time the monitor is turn on and off the same problem. IF the UAC prompts me to allow or something same problem.

How do I prevent my computer from switching my calibration to something else?

I have on-board integrated graphics, so I don't have a NVIDIA/ATI control center thing. For my calibration I use the windows 7 calibrator ("Calibrate Display Color").

This is really a problem for me, and I will appreciate any assistance! Thanks!!

Sounds like a bad video driver.

I just bought a Lenovo X1 Yoga with OLED display. It is supposed to have very accurate colors (98% AdobeRGB, Delta-E at 0.55 or better with calibration), but when I tried calibrating it with my X-Rite i1Display Pro, I kept getting strange banding artifacts in the results (and yes, I did choose OLED display type before starting measurement in i1Profiler). Due to the strange banding artifacts, I had to go back to using the color profiles provided by Lenovo (they come in Native, Standard, Pro Photo, Movie Pro, Blue Light Cut for Office, Blue Light Cut for Reading). I use Pro Photo, which is AdobeRGB.  I've tried several times now, and I always get the weird banding artifacts. So does this mean X1 Yoga's OLED display cannot be calibrated with i1Display Pro?  When I compare X1 Yoga's colors with my Dell Ultrasharp U3011 (which is calibrated with i1Display Pro, and has 117% AdobeRGB color gamut, and 1.12 Delta-E after calibration), my U3011 is a bit cooler (a bit more blue, less yellow), while the X1 Yoga is warmer (less blue, more yellow).  So which is the more accurate one I can trust? Can the X1 Yoga OLED screen be calibrated without the banding artifacts? Has anyone tried calibrating the OLED display?

I've just got a new laptop with Windows 8, and noticed that all dark images have chunks of pixels around them - they aren't smooth at all. Most of the icons on the start screen also have bands of colours, instead of smooth gradients.

I tried to change my display settings in Color Calibration to try and fix this, but as soon as I change anything my display reverts back. Changing gamma won't work, and when I mess with the hues the screen snaps back to being grey, though it should have a tint.

I've turned off the adaptive brightness (as far as I can tell), and I can't find anything in Catalyst Control Centre that looks like it would be doing this - I assume I'm overlooking some preinstalled software or something like that?

I have a Lenovo laptop with AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics and Windows 8.1 installed. Not sure where the problem is here, so I didn't quite know what forum it belongs in.

Thanks!

I have an Inspiron 15 5567 and the display was driving me mad with completely wrong colours. There is not much I could do about the horrendous glare but at least I finally figured out how to calibrate the display and keep it that way.
Calibration with Spyder Pro and Display Cal managed to get the display of photos right in software using colour management but the colors of Windows 10 were all over the place, light green appeared yelllow, light grey was pink especially in scrollbars and buttons.
The screen showed accurate colours when picking the calibrated colour scheme (Settings-Display-Advanced Display Options - Color Profile) until I closed the dialogue and everything changed back to wrong colours.
At fault is the useless bloatware addon "True Color". As soon as "True Color" is disabled the display shows all colours as calibrated.
If you want to use this laptop for photo editing, disable "True Color", create a calibration for running on mains power and a calibration for running on battery. I am not endorsing Spyder or any other manufacturer, this approach should work with any colour calibrator.

Hello! So I just bought a new replacement battery from a different company (Batterheads-TechFuel) because my original notebook battery's life was done for(after 3 years). The new battery works perfectly fine and fits with my laptop, but it just won't calibrate. I tried various options, including using the Battery Calibration method from UEFI, manual calibration, calibration methods from Tech Fuel, and HP Support Assisstant. About a few days ago though, I realized my new battery says MO(that is a capitalized letter o)0(the number zero)6(MO06), where my original notebook battery says MO09. They are the same type of battery just for my notebook, but could this difference lead to calibration issues that I'm still currently having? Thank you for your time!

Hello, I've been dealing with this issue for quite a few months now and I thought it was about time I got it sorted out.

See I recently purchased a laptop, after previously owning a PC for 4 years. I still own my PC but only use it for editing images on Photoshop CS5. After a few days, I transferred some images I had edited on my PC onto my laptop to discover that the colours were completely different. My first thought was that the problem had to be the colour settings on my PC as my laptop had all the default colour settings from when I had purchased it.

After fiddling about with the Brightness & Contrast and Colour Adjustments on my monitor, I decided to give up. I'm unsure of whether this is an issue with the monitors settings or infact settings on my computer but it can be a bit annoying when I spend time editing an image to transfer to my laptop, to find out that the colours are all completely off. I am aware this isn't a Windows Vista problem, but I have a feeling it has to do with the calibration setting I have on a Windows Vista computer system.

I was wondering if anyone could help, any help would be much appreciated! And if you need to know any settings or information about the specific monitor or pc I am using, feel free to ask. Thank you!

(I am using Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 2)

My most reliable internet source is IE9. One day, I cleaned my keyboard without shutting down my computer. I was still on my email page. Now, whenever I click something, such as something on google, it usually selects an option 1 or 2 above or below. It doesn't select the correct one. Also, when i try to click something, i have to right click and press open. This is very Inconvenient. I ignored it for a while, but now I can't even register for certain programs. When it has those selecting options, it wouldn't let me open the options. When i finally did, selecting it only brought me back up to my name! Whenever i press backspace, it brings me to the previous page.

So when you use another browser, everything is normal ?

Someone with more knowledge may opine, but I would begin by resetting IE9. Go to Internet Options/Advanced/Reset and/or uninstall and reinstall IE9.

Hi,
I have an HP Deskjet5550 and am operating Windows Vista Ultimate (not by choice). I do a lot of color printing, and the output is far below the quality of the Monitor. I have attempted to upgrade drivers and software, because the internal driver supplied by Windows does not allow for calibration...or at least it is not working. But, HP does not offer any drivers other than what Vista supplies. I tried their diagnostic, but it said all was working fine.

The printer has been very reliable and maintenance free in terms of problems. It is very thrifty on cartridge use as well, and I am not really fond of the idea of getting rid of it. Other than buying a new printer which is compatible with Vista, do I have any options here?
Thanks in advance,

I'm looking for recomendations for guides on how to set monitor calibration so I see colors, gamma, contrast and brightness of images posted at web sites, as they are supposed to be viewed.
I have altered my settings over time to accomodate my eyes, but after the last update at TSG, I'm aware that my settings are not conducive to posting what I want to project as an image and what I'm seeing in other's images is often too dark.
I have an old guide from a Jasc PSP7 web page that helps correct to some degree, but it's a simplified guide that may not be as accurate as I want.
I have PSP8, but the help file states:
Paint Shop Pro’s monitor gamma setting adjusts how colors display in Paint Shop Pro. This setting does not affect how your monitor displays colors in other applications.Click to expand...

So, using it to view web sites won't help.

Any recomendations for setting up monitor calibration and or guides to follow?

Well, on my desktop the image appears perfect, even with the bumped up oranges. However, on a different computer or cell, the oranges appear to be way to increased and out of whack, causing my subjects to look like oompa loompas. A:Battery calibration?

Dell published an article on how to calibrate Li-ion and Ni-MH/NiCad laptop batteries. The article doesn't say anything about charging/discharging 2-4 times. I'd contact Dell again and ask for clarification.

On-the-Go articles | Dell

Maybe Dell has changed its mind on the proper procedure but I have a Dell Inspiron 1200 laptop from around 2006. It still has the original battery and still gives about 2 hours battery life. That may not sound like a lot of time but when brand new it only gave 2.5 hours. From the very beginning all I did was let the battery run down to the pre-determined percentage (all my laptops shut down at 5%) and then let it fully charge back up to 100%. This is he same procedure I've used on all my laptops (Dell, Sony, Acer, Lenovo, and a couple other machines from work.)

I have looked around and found I need to calibrate the battery. According to all the info I need to fully charge the battery and then leave it on AC for another 2.5 hours. Restart and press F2 to bring up diagnostics. Problem is diagnostics is a little different to the tutourials. My choices are Mem test, Hard drive test, Language, and exit. No mention of battery there or anywhere else. Hp support assistant simply checks the charge and tells me to calibrate. Even shows how(see previous)Bios is 1.6.0.0 if that makes any differenceThanks

On past systems I've used a Monaco Optix colorimeter for display calibration and profiling, however a recent email from their tech support tells me this won't be an option in the near future.

We still do not have support for Vista 64 bit operation. We do have a technically unsupported procedure for using Optix in a Vista 32 bit operating system, and you can find this on our webpage support pages for Optix.

I understand that you have an urgent need to do calibration in Vista 64 bit, but we don't have any ETA for this operating system and Optix compatibility.

My apologies that we don't have any better news for you at this time.

Anyone know of a colorimeter/calibration&profiling system that works with Vista 64?

I have a Vn7-591g and it is roughly 1years old.My problem is my laptop is shutting down without noticing low battery notification and without any warning since i have updated my windows 10 pro to November Build. First it was shutting down at 15% battery level without indication and then i have searched here and there and find calibration procedure like I tried the battery calibration procedures like Charging to 100% in shutdown and go into Safe mode and let it drain and recharge again, after doing that now it is shutting down at 30% or 25% battery level without noticing or warning. I have tried battery reset Pinhole thing also as suggested somwhere in this discussion. I noticed a thing when i have set my laptop power option on High Performance, at low battery it goes straight into hibernation but when i have plug the AC Adapter it shows battery level to 0% or 1% and charging. so is there problem in my Battery or Power Options or the problem is other???  Any help will be appreciate and please reply fast because i am sad with this problem. it is a one year old laptop roughly, i have bought new.

Hi, Try to monitor your battery using HWmonitorhttp://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html You should see the designed capacity, actual capacity and current capacity of the battery. You should see if there is some differences between windows and/or HWmonitor reads. But I suspect that you have some power option settings which could make the problem.Go in power options, you will see the plans, and then click on change plan settings for the plan which is currently active. Here you will have an option, change advanced power settings. Click it, and in this section you should have battery. Inside you will find various settings like critical level action, critical level. Be sure that the critical level is set to 5% (or 10%). It could be that this setting is set to a much higher percentage.  Also check the low level action, and low level percentage settings.
