Internet explorer ceases to function. Log files

Q: Internet explorer ceases to function. Log files

Internet explorer starts fine when windows first loads. After a variable amount of time, when reopened, it will pop up but will not navigate anywhere, no statusbar as such. Eventually to the point of freezing the computer. I have a DDS log and GMER log.DDSDDS (Ver_10-10-10.03) - NTFSx86 Run by Mike at 14:00:30.51 on Wed 10/20/2010Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18702Microsoft Windows XP Professional I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Windows XPSP/2.
What causes Internet Explorer to stop loading web sites? This happened to me last evening, I restated three times and the third time everything was back to normal. I have a virus scanner, malware, and spyware programs loaded and manually run daily with clear results. If any found they are either quarantined or removed. In event viewer there was nothing un-toward showing, and my email (Outlook Express) worked perfectly so I don't think it was my server. Any suggestions please?

A:When Internet Explorer ceases to load?

Does it happen with other browsers? If you need another, give Firefox a try.

I recently upgraded my Sony Vaio VGN-730E/B from Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit to Windows 7 Professional 64bit. According to the Microsoft Tool for upgrading to Windows 7 and the specs for the notebook upgrading to Windows 7 64bit is possible.

I have tracked down and modded drivers for Nvidia GeForce 8400M GT, Wireless Card, Ethernet Adapter, Motherboard, Synaptic Touchpad...
- which is the problem, the touchpad driver invalidates my keyboard...
- if I don't install the driver, they scroll function of the touchpad doesn't work

Also, I am unable to find a driver for my keyboard or peripheral buttons on the laptop...
It's not a big deal, but my eject button for my DVD Rom device doesn't function...

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

A:Install Symantic Touchpad Driver and keyboard ceases to function

Hello Malone and welcome to Seven Forums.

Did you use the Sony eSupport to get your updated drivers?

Sony eSupport - Computers - Notebook - Select Your Model

After installing the touchpad driver go into control panel > mouse > function tab to make sure the scroll feature is enabled. Also check the hardware tab and double-click Alps pointing device > driver tab to make sure you have the latest driver there as well.

From control panel you can also check the keyboard > hardware tab > double-click PS/2 keyboard > driver tab to make sure there isn't a newer keyboard driver.

The control panel will also get you to device manager which will let you check the status of your DVD/CD ROM and see if an updated driver is available. But since the eject button on the DVD tray is also a partly mechanical device it's possible that some dirt may have gotten into the mechanism and is keeping it from working. Perhaps a quick blast of compressed air around the button?

File Explorer - Ceases to respond, and churns sometimes . . .

I don't think I'm clicking too fast, or on too many things, because it usually works how I want.

Maybe it was doing a Win Defender scan, and the auto-pause takes 15 seconds to kick in?

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

I just updated to 8.1, so maybe it won't happen now.

A:File Explorer - Ceases to respond, and churns

Maybe run the

sfc /scannow

&

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

&

sfc /scannow AGAIN

commands in elevated command prompts.

I?ll try to be succinct here, while including as many details as possible.

The issue I?m having began about a year ago. Usually, my internet works without any problems. However, approximately once a week, when I attempt to open an internet link in a new tab or window, it opens as a completely blank page (eg. It says ?New Tab? and that?s it). All subsequent attempts after the first one produce the same result. I can still open programs local to my computer, navigate through folders, etc.

If I choose a link from my favourites, it attempts to connect to the url for 30-45s, then gives a message that a connection can?t be made. The control panel detects no issues with my network, nor does the tray icon indicate that anything is wrong or disconnected. Another PC in the house, also on the same network, can continue to browse while mine is experiencing the issue. My PS3 and cell phones are also able to connect without any problems.

I usually reboot my PC at this point, which ?solves? the problem until it happens again in 5-7 days. If I leave it alone, my PC invariably reboots by itself. In either case, it will almost always produce a minidump file (all of which I have saved) after rebooting, along with the ?system has recovered from a serious error? message.

A possibly-related issue is that, on occasion, I?ll also receive the ?insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service? error message when trying to log in to Windows, preventing me from going any further... Read more

Despite my wireless adapter still being lit up, my connection to the internet randomly stops after a period of time and only a reboot can bring it back. After a random period of time, internet access to my computer ceases and only a reboot can bring it back; it states "limited access" and I have no connection. All my drivers are fully updated and I have already tried flushing DNS. If I try to restart or shut down using the start menu when this happens, a BSOD occurs stating driver power state failure. When I used driver verifier, it says A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught and creates a BSOD. After the internet cuts off, I can no longer access network and sharing center (attempting causes explorer.exe to stop working). Bluescreen view states that ntoskrnl.exe are the cause of the power state failures. No problem arises when I use safe mode with networking. My computer specs are:

Ram:4 GB
System Type:64-BIt Operating System
Graphics Driver:Nvidia Geforce 210
Audio:Nvidia High definition Audio

My Wireless Adapter:Belkin F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter #9.

I have no spare wireless adapters. I have not tried and cannot easily try a direct hookup from my router to my PC. I have already tried moving my adapter to a different port.
This problem has been occurring for months and I have no restore point. Edit: Bluescreen view states 053015-19047-01.d... Read more

I'm using IE v5.5, Windows 95 and my search function seems to have been taken over by a search engine I'd never seen before. Instead of searching using the Search Assistant and previewing results from all selected search engines in the side preview pane; I just get results from one site (ixquick).

Can anyone help me get rid of ixquick and return to the regular function?

Dear Sirs,

My name is Clifford Griffin. I just happened on this site by accident.
I sure hope you can help me.

My operating system is Windows XP SP2.

I am currently running IE version 7. But you should know that I will
experience the Identical problem while running IE v6.0.2800... or IE
v6.0.2900...!

Since my IE does not work I am using Firefox to communicate with
you.

Most of the time when I try to access the browser I get a blank
window with the following error pop-up.

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Included in that message is a statement that says: "To see what data
this error report contains click here." Upon clicking here I see
the following error signature:

"AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.16441 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2945 Offset: 00012a5b"

There is also an extremely lengthy and detailed report entitled "Error
Report Contents" included, but it will not allow me to copy it.

Sometimes when I bring up the browser a window will appear just
as it should. But when I try to follow any link I get the same scenario
as explained above.

Can you help me?

Please let me know what further information you need.

Kindest Regards,

Clifford Griffin

A:Any version of Internet Explorer I try will not function.

Hi Clifford, welcome to TSF...

how long has the problem been present and have you tried a system restore to a date when all was well? Can you think of any downloads or any websites which were visited which may have triggered the problem?

Also, there is a chance of a malware infection so the following link may be helpful:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...sting-log.html

Finally, do you have a Windows XP installation disc?

My IE history function stopped working quite a while ago when I was using

When I select the "history" icon I get a list starting with History and containing only the file "index.dat". The only other item in the history list is
"desktop.ini". I have scanned the registry and it is OK. Is there any way to fix this without reinstalling IE?

Hi.
Try going to Control Panel - Add/Remove programs-
select IE 6 - click add/remove- select Repair IE.
You may have to reboot.
See if that helps.

Hello everyone!
Last night I installed Bitcomet (latest version). Well I'm done using it and I uninstalled it via programs and features. Then I rebooted. Now when I find a file on Internet explorer 7 (any kind of file really) that I want to save or open, nothing happens.

If I click on a file to download the usual Windows Prompt opens and asks me to Save/Open/Cancel and if I click Open or Save, nothing happens. This use to work fine before I installed BitComet.

I figured out the problem. When you install bit comment it ties itself to I.E. browser extension during the install. So it kinda becomes the download manager for I.E. So I need to figure out how to set this back to default since I uninstalled Bitcomet.
I set programs to default. I looked in file extensions and that looks normal. Crap this sucks!
Any ideas?

Raj

A:Internet Explorer Save/Open Function

You could try opening Internet Options in Control Panel. Click on the Programs tab and select Manage Add-Ons. It is possible that removing BitComet did not remove the reference within Internet Explorer.
Other than that may be worth checking your File Associations and make sure BitComet is not set as the default application for opening specific file extensions.

When I went to Edge settings, I tried to delete saved history etc.. I turns out I wound up deleting saved log-ins and passwords in Windows/Internet Explorer. I did not realize that they are interconnected, is there any to recover them?

I've never seen anything like this. Okay, here's the system rundown --- Running win 7 pro sp1 64 bit on a Dell xps 8000. Replaced hard drive one month ago, and I've used Seagate's diagnostic tool to check out hard drive, which didn't find any errors with the hard drive.

So, here's problem 1:
Computer was running great up until four days ago. It wouldn't wake up out of sleep properly. It would freeze. I would have to reboot to wake it up. It won't even let me LOG OFF correctly because when I go to log back on, I don't get the prompt to choose the user or enter my password. When I reboot --- that I can only do by shutting on and off the power, it's fine. The computer starts up fine in SAFE MODE, so I'm not detecting any issues there.

Problem 2:
Internet explorer 10 (got it with one of the updates two weeks ago) simply would HANG and not open. Even with I would click it once and open task manager to see what was happening, it showed multiple instances of explorer open. So, what I did was turn OFF Explorer 10 in the "turn windows features on or off" section. But when I when to turn them back on to see if it would reset, I not only lost the default windows icons from the start bar, Explorer refused to initialize when I tried to start it from "Programs" or from clicking the explorer.exe icon in both Programs (64 bit) and Programs (x86).

To this point I've done the full scan disk, and also run SCAN NOW. I also have anti malware software ... Read more

Hello

There is a problem in which Flash Player stops once during the operation of the business portal currently operating based on Flash Player, so please contact us.

As a result of the verification, it is confirmed that it is not related to Adobe's Flash Player and is related to the function of Shockwave Flash Object installed in Windows 10 Internet Explorer 11.

Therefore, I would like to know whether it is possible to delete and reinstall the Shockwave Flash Object function.
And I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade or downgrade only the version of the Shockwave Flash Object (or any other related function) while leaving the version of Internet Explorer.

Thank you.

Hi, i am new at this, so bear with me lol

We have just moved our XP computer into the living room, and connected it to a 58kb dial-up connection. We installed AVG 8 and everything was running fine

Now we've installed Windows Live OneCare Family safety on the machine so we can monitor my borther and sisters internet usage.

Now, the computer runs extremely slowely, Windows Explorer continually crashes, meaning we have great difficulty opening My Documents, and My Computer or anything that requires Explorer to open

As well as this, now the internet is majorly slow... even for bloomin dial-up, we used to get at least 9kbps, but now its shot down to between 2.5 and 1.5 kbps

AVG is now continuously scanning... even outside of scheduled scans, and constantly wants to update :S

And finally, i have now noticed that small files i dont use very frequently have begun to dissapear from the system!!! music files, images, word docs etc.

We have tried defragging it, scandisk, using AdAware SE Personal 2005, AVG Scans, and they all come up with negligeable results.

As well as this, now the pc wont install files for Trend Micro Online scans to run... so we cant even work it out that way :S

I have a suspicion this could be something to do with OneCare, or Multiple Viruses in the system that have somehow hidden themselves from AVG

PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello,
Our company website contains a collection firmware and executable for our customers to download. Customers running Chrome, Firefox, or early versions of the IE have no issues. Customers running IE11 and
Edge on Windows 10 report that .exe files download properly, but the firmware files with a custom extension do not. Instead, IE11 opens a new tab and the new window contains a little "X" icon. That's it. Nothing in the Download area.
Some of our more adventurous customers searched through there Temporary Internet folders and found the firmware files stored as .ICO files. When the files were copied out and renamed back to to the proper extension
(the main part of the name was correct), our product read the files just file. Any idea why are the files getting their extension changed to .ICO and why are they not appearing in the download area. This is affecting multiple customers.
Thanks!

Hello all,
I have an issue with a client that tries opening/ saving a document in IE 11,
This has happened two days in a row now, where everything is working normally, and then all of a sudden, when he tries opening, tries saving, or saving as, nothing happens anymore. It just blocks.
After killing the process through task manager, Everything works normally again, until the next time the error happens again,
Is there a way to debug this? some useful logs, or event viewer logs that can be activated on Windows 10 / IE 11 ?
Is there maybe a KB that needs to be installed, could it be cause by a recent KB installation?
How should i proceed on this issue?
Thanks

Hi all,
I work at a school as the network administrator. Occasionally we have students looking at *unsavoury* sites which haven't yet been blocked by the firewall. To have any course of action against these students, I have to trawl through temporary internet files and suchlike, but there is no easy way of proving which sites they have come from. What I need to know is if there is a freeware/shareware program which can read Index.dat files other than the one on the current computer. I have found software which can read my index.dat, but in order for it to read someone else's, I have to overwrite mine, and it would be much easier if I could point the program at the individual users network share.

If anyone can help me with this, or suggest an alternative, I'd be very grateful.

Hi

Please HELP, really urgent!!!!

i have a very simple php web application deployed on linux (centOS4) machine. It creates a file and stores the file in /tmp folder on my linux machine. The path for this file is specified in the href attribute of the link. Ideally when we click this link the download manager should pop up so that the file can be downloaded on client machine.
When i access this website remotely from my window xp machine on firefox it downloads the file properly but when i run on internet explorer (i have IE7 on my windows XP) and click the link, the download manager does'nt pop's up. possibly IE is not able to determine the linux file path.........so how do i work around this..........is there some specific way for specifying the linux file paths to be downloaded by IE?

I'm not sure if it's possible to get around it or if the firewall is even the problem but any help would be awesome.

A:Accessing Files via Internet Explorer FTP

you will have to set the firewall to forward requests for the ftp port (21) to the IP of the machine that the ftp server is on.

Just a warning that ftp is not the best way to share files and I would suggest going through ssh instead.

Hello

I've just carried out fresh install of Windows. During the process I moved the user profiles to another drive and I'm wondering if this has caused my problem. For some reason I can't download any files although I have no problem browsing. The error message I receive is as follows:

I've read somewhere that deleting the index.dat file would rectify the problem, but there is no index.dat file. Infact I can't file the Temporary Internet Files folder at all which is supposed to be located in D:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files
