No updates and freezing. :-(

Q: No updates and freezing. :-(

Hi people.
I'm using a fairly new Acer Aspire PC with Win 10 and am experiencing a number of issues.

1. It will not update, it downloads them but fails to install. It frequently asks to retry but fails every time, sometimes running for over an hour with the install trying to update. I get various error messages, and have even sent them to Microsoft Help, but they weren't very helpful.

2. It freezes quite often, when online and streaming/watching tv/films etc. and also when browsing. The cursor will not move with the mouse, and Ctrl Alt Delete will not bring up the Task Window to close the program either, so I have to shut it down with the On/Off button.

3. Sticky Notes has disappeared! I've got an icon on the taskbar, but clicking it opens a "Can't open this App" window which directs me to MS website for the new App Launcher, which then opens the original "Can't open this App." window!

SysInfo below. Help gratefully received, thanks in advance.

Preferred Solution: No updates and freezing. :-(

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: No updates and freezing. :-(

Go to \Windows folder and delete the SoftwareDistribution folder. This folder holds the downloaded updates. If your update is repeatedly retrying to install without success, maybe they are corrupted. So delete all of them and let Windows download fresh ones.

I have been having constant problems with Windows 7 freezing after updates. I have found 3 updates: K971033, K977074, and K980182 that could be potential problems, so I am avoiding installing these; but I use Webroot Internet Security and ever since their newest version, Webroot Internet Security Compete was released, the program absolutely will not install or run on my computer.
Webroot tech support is top-notch, they have tried numerous times to resolve this problem; however, the issue is still not resolved, so I have to use the older version of Webroot; which I have confidence in, but I wonder about the security of my computer, when at the same time, my computer is having these freezing issues that may or may not be related to Windows updates.
Webroot is going to do a remote tech support session with me tomorrow, September 23; but I am still trying to figure out if this is a Windows problem, or a problem with my Webroot software. I have nothing bad to say about their tech support; but they are seemingly baffled by this, and I am beyond fed up.
At this point, I have had to perform complete Windows 7 reinstalls too many times to count, at times as many as 3 in less than 24 hours.
Thanks for any advice, or other Windows updates to not install.

Well I followed all the advice and installed 8 important and recommended updates one at a time and then rebooted when instructed to do so. Unfortunately. my computer restarted and then got stuck at the desktop and would not unfreeze. I managed to turn it off at the tower and then left it for 10 minutes, rebooted and tried again. In all I tried 4 times and it froze solid each time. I then managed to do a system restore to before I downloaded and installed the updates and then scheduled a disc check at the next restart and it
found and repaired some files. It would appear to be working ok now but I daren't install the updates again. Any advice please, I guess that I must be doing something wrong but I really don't know what! Thanks again in advance.

A:OS freezing after installing updates

I have managed to install the updates and the computer no longer freezes and I Just thought it might help others who may have had the same problem, to tell what I did ! I did a disc clean, defrag, removed some programmes I no longer use and then removed Google updater and google desktop from my start menu. Having done all that I then did a disc check and then I installed the updates 1 by 1,restarting the computer after each installation. I have also just installed Firefox 3 with no problems so far. I shall now take a week to recover!!

Same here, I?ll be reading say a page in a forum and then try to back out and it just freezes. The only way to get out after that is to start task manager and close IE7 completely and start over.

For me this issue is happening on a completely fresh OS reformat with Vista/SP1 32 Bit install with all of the latest updates as of Friday.

Hi,

I've been having trouble getting the latest Windows Updates to install on my ASUS laptop.  Previously they would install okay but the last few updates always hang about half way through the install and even if I leave my computer on all night still no full install the next morning.   I tried running an sfc/ scannow command but I very quickly get a failed message stating they could not perform the requested operation.  Normally I would just go on without the updates but for some reason my computer doesnt peform as fast when their are pending updates that need to be installed.  Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi CarlMcGee At what % of the scan does the SFC fails and throws you the error message? Also, which version of Windows are you using, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1? Follow the instructions below as well.MiniToolBoxDownload MiniToolBox and move the executable file to your Desktop;Execute MiniToolBox and check the following options:List Installed Programs;List Last 10 Event Viewer Errors;Once this is done, click on Go and wait for the scan to complete;Once the scan is complete, a log will open. Please copy/paste the content of the output log in your next reply;

I'm not sure if I'm in the correct forum or not.  I had received a notice from HP that there were updates for my printer so I tried to downloan them, but kept getting a fail message.  I contacted HP Support and the girl Ann said she could assist with this and there would be no charge.   I allosed her to patch into my computer and she changed several settings on my computer so that I would be able to get the updates.  She also changed my printer from USB to Wireless for me. Since that time I have been having issues with my computer freezing up and in order to get logged onto my computer I have to keep rebooting system.  It will freeze up when I'm trying to check my email and I have once again reboot system in order to get onto my computer.  I was not having any issues like this until after she made the changes on my computer. My warranty is up on this computer I contacted HP and tried to explain to them what is going on but and now since my computer is out of warranty they will not assist me.  One of their reps messed up my computer they should be willing to get it back working the correct way, but they won't unless I pay them.

I have an older H323 and a newer M93, both desktops will, at random times, freeze up.  It appears to be after a Windows 10 update but I can't be sure.  The only way to restore operation is to do a hard shutdown.  This is a big issue for the H323 due to being at a remote installation 1500 miles away.  [Of interest is the fact that when the H323 goes offline and I can't remote into it, when another Windows Update is pushed, it comes back to life.] >>  I see multiple complaints in the forum similar to this unresolved issue on a number of different Lenovo systems, so it does not appear to be BIOS, graphics card, ethernet card or related to any specific hardware.  Both systems are configured to not hibernate. They go into a coma and won't respond to a hardware reset... the only way to revive them is to completely shut them down and then restore power.  This has been going on for the better part of this last 12 months. What is going on?

A:Lenovo desktops freezing after Windows 10 updates

Update: I found out that many other users of various PC makes are having similar issues with Creators Update. I have two Intel desktops (Executive Series) that have successfully upgraded to 1709 without this problem. Only the Lenovo PCs I own have this issue.

After changing out video and sound drivers my computer started getting BSODs and I then tried to reinstall the drivers. I used CCleaner and Driver sweeper after uninstall and then I reinstalled them. Now my computer locks up and becomes unresponsive but I now no longer get bsods. It crashes to the point where I get no mouse movement or key response. I checked the event viewer and received an Eventlog ID 6008 and all that would tell me is that the previous shut down was unexpected. I have been trying to work out the issue with the drivers causing bsods so I am afraid I may have made a mess of something important and have no clue what that is I have attached the logs requested for this type of post and was hoping someone could identify what if anything is causing these crashes. Hi!

Here's my post - after I installed all the Windows updates on 2/13, we starting getting intermittent freezing of the applications and operating system (Windows 7 32 bit). After a while, trying to open an application returns "not enough system resources to complete the requested operation." IE, etc. I also cannot shut down the computer. Once I do a hard re-start, it all comes back until it locks up again. I increased the virtual memory capacity. System restore fails each time after the updates on 2/13.

Any suggestions would be great!

thanks so much!

Hello,
So the night before last my computer did its routine Windows 10 updates (and this one must've been fairly sizeable as it used a lot of our internet and took a long time). After getting home yesterday, I launched my favourite game, Rise of the Tomb Raider, but got an error saying something about the graphics drivers. I assumed the Windows update had messed with my Radeon Crimson stuff (as has happened before), so I opened the AMD settings and updated the Radeon R7 graphics drivers. The game launched and all was well, until later in the day, when I minimised the game to put a DVD in, and the monitor suddenly said that there was no signal even though the computer was still running.
I didn't think much of this; it doesn't happen often, but my computer has been known to crash. But it happened about four more times throughout the evening. Usually about ten minutes into playing the game, it would freeze for a minute with the ambient audio files still playing, then 'no signal' on the monitor and the only fix was restarting by the power button.
I left my computer on all day today, with just Google Chrome and the control panel open, and it's still running ten hours later so it only happens when I've the game open.
I had a look in the reliability history thing, and it says that Windows crashed due to a 'hardware error'.

Help?

This has been going on for about a month.  A little worse the past 2-3 days.  I can't think of any changes to my system that coincide with the onset.

She's dragging and freezing up even when all I am running is Chrome.  Even when CPU is at <5% load and there is >1G of free ram.  I have nearly 50% of hard drive free.

I can't install some critical Windows security updates. (Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86- WON'T INSTALL

Windows Firewall seems to have disappeared (the icon is missing from Control Panel along with a couple of other icons)

Some programs won't load or install at all.    Most common error message is that msi.dll is missing / can't be found.

I've defragged, cleaned up junk, ran Malwarebytes, Ad-Aware, Avast AV, etc.

Some files can't be scanned with Avast - something about corrupt or damaged sector ?

I tried a system restore, but it seemed to be frozen as well.

Hope this is enough info.   Thanks in advance for any help.

Microsoft Windows XP Professional

My remote access window is still connected, but he cannot see me moving the mouse and I am unable to get anything to function.

We tried running Ad Aware, Malwarebytes, HiJack This and between them, there were just a few items found and removed. We removed all of the updates through Add/Remove Programs for the date in question. After rebooting, it still freezes. Most recently I tried a System Restore and it failed to complete. See if you can System Restore to before Net Framework 4 was installed and then Hide it when it is again offered in Updates.

But be aware that some programs will need it and may not prompt you of this leaving you to guess why they are not installing or performing correctly. For this reason I always install it.

So you might want to reinstall it using its standalone installer since it may not have uninstalled correctly anyway.

I find it odd that when I do a Windows Update in Windows 7, the Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) updates are also found. But if I do a Windows Update in XP Mode, the MSE updates are not found. I don't suppose this is controllable? I'd like the Windows Update to find MSE updates.

A:MSE updates flagged in Win 7 updates but not XP Mode updates

In XP you have to go into the "Add/Remove" programs and check off the "Show updates" box at the top to reveal the MS updates installed.

I recently built my first PC three days ago...
Specs:
i7 bloomfield 960 processor
4x4 vengeance ram
crosair hx850 PSU
evga x58 ftw3 mobo
hd 6870 radeon graphics xfx

When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both... (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.

any advice would be appreciated if not I will bring to a repair shop and have them sort it out.

A:Newly built computer random freezing and freezing on starting windows

Hello Skytri and welcome to Seven Forums. My usual disclaimer: I'm not at expert at anything.

I'm wondering if there isn't a RAM problem. Perhaps one of the sticks wasn't seated properly, etc. You could open Resource Monitor > Memory tab and make sure all RAM is being recognized. Make sure Installed = 16384MB and the Available + Cached + Hardware Reserved is the same amount. (You are using 16GB total, correct?)

Resource Monitor

If Memtest freezes you could try a quick check for a bad RAM module. Install one stick in Slot # 1 (or whichever slot the mobo manual says to use.) Run the computer to test for freezes. Test each of the remaining sticks one at a time. If all 4 sticks work you might want to go through these troubleshooting guides. They are time consuming but many people have been able to isolate their computer problems.

Hi there!
I have a usb soundcard which worked perfectly a while ago, but since some time this strange bug is causing trouble. Sound suddenly stops, and the VU meter in control panel stays at the same position - as if the sampling point of audio is stuck. Problem is
temporarily solved by disabling then re-enabling the soundcard.
I tried looking in the logbooks for relating events but I can't find any event which may cause this, as there is nothing happening at the same time as an audio freeze - or there must be a big delay of writing events to logbook.
I don't know what kind of data you need to help me solve this, but I'm happy to supply it!

Thanks in advance :)

Hi all,

Have been having some frustrating issues with my system recently. It all started when my system started freezing with strange patterns showing up on the monitor. I thought it must have been my video card and took it back to the computer shop to test it. They agreed the video card was faulty and sent it off for warranty. In the mean time I purchased a new low-end card and the system worked fine for about a week.

I then started to get the same issues again. I returned the system again and was told there was nothing wrong with this card. They spun some crap about the card not being powerful enough to run photoshop (which is where I spend most of my time) and convinced me to upgrade to a higher-end card, which I did.

Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem and I continued to have problems. I returned the system yet again for a week or so. They tested it (with their HD and fresh install of vista) and said they didnt have any problems.

I picked the system up and used it without problems for around a week or so when the problems started to occur yet again. At the moment the system is freezing, freezing with a strange pattern on the screen (see attached jpgs) (looping audio), restarting, blue-screening (ecache.sys, IRQL not less or equal to, etc). It freezes during vista loading but sometimes makes it to the main OS environment.

I've tried reinstalling vista on a different drive and get exactly the same problems. It freezes and restarts during vista setup so... Read more

Hello,

I'm going to post two different scenarios that happens when my computer needs a hard restart
My computer freezes completely (literally no movement on the screen or anything, it's not slow it's frozen). And an extremely loud buzzing sound comes out of my headphones or speakers. The same thing as above except without the loud buzzing noise.

I saw that this happened to someone else who had both the speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time. However, scenario #2 just happened to me 10 minutes ago even though I only had my headphones plugged in.

I built this computer six months ago and it's the first computer I've ever built. I assume it's a driver issue but I can't really pinpoint the problem since no BSOD appears on the screen and I have no higher computer knowledge.

I'm attaching the zip file required.

Thanks,

A:Random Computer Freezing - Need to hard restart after freezing No BSOD

Wow, this sounds like the same thing that happened to a friend of mine when his hard drive was failing. Replaced the drive and the freezes went away. Even the buzzing noise.

Also you may need to look at what drivers you may have just install/updated.

Hoping you don't have any failing hardware "Motherboard, video card, etc". Those are expensive

Hello - I could do with some advice, I think.

Some basics first:

Dell Inspiron 1525 with 3GB RAM, running Vista

Recently I've had problems where my laptop has frozen during normal operation - nothing fancy, just surfing etc. It sometimes doesn't shut down properly either.

I have been using the radialpoint safecare software that Virgin Media supply in the UK as part of their broadband package. For a few months now the anti spy and anti virus s/w have failed to load, so I have relied on MSE. As I say, some problems have started to appear.

MSE told me that on 15/11/2010 i had a trojandownloader which was removed.

Some pals advised I would be better trying Malwarebytes or Avast. I tried the former and on scanning it stuck while looking at wklnhst.dat (something to do wth MS Works I think). I had to power off and on. It did a chkdsk which came up with a number of actions that looked like it was trying to fix something (sorry). I rand MBAM again and it got further then froze while looking at msvcr80.dll.

Power off/on again.

OK, then I tried avast, which seemed to get about 38% through then froze.
Power off/on again.

SOmeone suggested rkill would kill any trojan processes that might be causing a problem - t did knock off a couple of things (one by sun and another by ms). Malwarebytes again - crashed as before.

Struggling now!

Welcome any advice at all.

Cheers
Steve

Can you try running MBAM in Safe Mode?

You can get to safe mode via hitting F8 just after the BIOS Post screen/Dell Splash Logo.

Hello, I'm having an issue with my computer.

My computer has started to restart/freeze up on me. The thing is, it has graphical issues once it freezes/tries to reboot. I get all these lines through the screen, graphical glitches when trying to go through the BIOS, etc. The computer isn't too slow, it isn't acting strange, the only thing that is wrong is the obvious freezing/restarting with graphical lines and glitches once it freezes.

My video card has been going out for a long time(I share a computer with a few people and they seem to think the video card is ok, but I have always seen small glitches in graphics here and there), so I am thinking maybe this might be a problem, given the graphical glitches, the horizontal lines going through the screen once it freezes.

When it hits the BIOS, it sometimes shows these same lines with the screen going mostly black.

System specs are:

CPU - Core 2 Duo, speed I don't remember.

Video Card - Geforce 7900 GT 512mb

Ram - 2GB DDR2

Motherboard - Asus, P5N-E SLI

I got this computer a few years back and I am not one to keep updated with specs or talk about them often, so I have forgotten the speed of the CPU and I do not know if I am missing information for you guys.

Solutions I have tried:

Overheating - I used air to filter out all dust/dirt that might be there to harm the computer, I have plenty of fans in there, etc.

Any and all help will be appreciated, Thank you.

A:Solved: Computer Freezing/freezing/graphical glitchs

If you're getting graphical 'glitches' while in bios, that's usually a good sign that your graphics card is having issues - however, I have seen this happen with faulty ram. I'd recommend reseating the cards (ensure your computer is off and unplugged whilst doing so) and see if that helps

Hello,
I'm hoping for a bit of help and advice on this issue before I go taking anything apart or delving into the insides of my laptop or taking it to a repair shop.
When I turn the laptop on I get the Acer screen and then the top left quarter of the screen goes black and the whole thing freezes (see the attachment). However when I plug the laptop into my TV screen via HDMI it's absolutely fine and starts up no problem. Even when I take the cable out once it has started up it works fine on just the laptop screen but it's something about the start-up that makes it freeze. I also shut it down, unplugged the HDMI and started it up again on just the laptop and it worked fine again so really confused about what is going on.
Has anyone come across something like this before? I've attached my computer specs below too.
Thanks

A:Computer Freezing; Slowing Down. But mostly freezing. I have my HiJackThis! Log File.

I don't see anything in your log or your description of your problem to come to the conclusion that your problem is malware related. When there is malware present there will always be other internet related symptoms like popups or a browser hijack etc...

I will advise you to uninstall Microsoft Anti-Spyware as the version you have is very old and no longer supported. It in now called Windows Defender.

Here are some routine maintenance practices that you should do on a regular basis to keep your machine running efficiently. Go through this now and see if it helps:

Disk Cleanup:

http://www.theeldergeek.com/disk_cleanup_utility.htm

Defrag your HD:

http://artsweb.bham.ac.uk/artsit/Info/Guides/GoodPractice/defrag-win2kxp.htm

Run chkdsk:

To use Chkdsk, click Start and My Computer. Right-click the hard drive you want to check, and click Properties. Select the Tools tab and click Check Now. Check both boxes. Click Start. You'll get a message that the computer must be rebooted to run a complete check. Click Yes and reboot. Chkdsk will take awhile, so run it when you don't need to use the computer for something else.

Remove unnecessary startups

This should be done through the System Configuration Utility. Go to Start > Run and type in msconfig.
Click OK or hit the Enter key.

Click on the "Startup" tab and remove the check by the items that you have determined are unnecessary. Click "Apply" then "Close"

You will be prompted to ... Read more

I have 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium on an HP Compaq CQ5210f. More system details at the bottom. This problem happened twice in mid April, and now twice again in early May, both within days of each other.

The only thing that remains consistent is that I'm playing a 3D game with audio on, the winamp program. Completely different games each and every time, though, some far more gentle on the video card than others. The screen would freeze up and so would the audio, and my keyboard/mouse don't respond at all. I resort to doing a hard reset with the computer power button.

Each time, when I log in again, explorer.exe is frozen. the taskbar appears, but nothing on the desktop, and after a couple seconds it all freezes up, with the busy mouse symbol when I highlight taskbar. I can still move mouse around though.

I can do ctrl+alt+delete at this point at least. Restarting explorer.exe doesn't work, so I try logging out in that menu, which does work, although slowly.

I've tried scanning for virus and also a system restore to earlier point, no difference.

The only solution so far has been to simply log in safe mode - which DOES work by the way - and create a new account from scratch.

Last time I cut/paste almost everything between old account and new, this time I will only do basics like save games and documents/music/video.

Can anyone please explain or help me understand why this is happening? I'd hate to have to keep restarting a new account... Read more

Ok so the computer started freezing after a factory recovery I had Dualboot of Vista HP 32bit and Ubuntu 10.04. Well I decided I didn't want Ubuntu 10.04 on my computer anymore so I went to Google and downloaded EasyBCD to rewrite the bootloader. After the rewrite I restarted the computer let the computer load up restarted the computer and put in the recovery disc. I did a Factory Recovery as I said. Well after that I noticed I don't see Gateway Splash screen where it says hit F1 F2 or whatever to enter setup. Didn't really pay any attention to that so I'm on my computer after the recovery and went away to do something. I came back to my computer after how ever long and noticed the computer was frozen. Well at least the keyboard of mouse would not work.

I don't think this is a blue screen of death problem, but hey it sucks to have a broken computer. Defragment the computer. load any CDs that came with your hardware. Did u update everything? (drivers and anything else that can be updated, just for updating sake). And just to be thorough, did u install any other software before it started freezing? Make sure your hard drive is not completely full. Test the memory by running Windows Memory Diagnostic just by typing it into search. I've read where it was recommended to turn off any IM service as it lowers security and slows down the system. As well, make sure you don't have a lot of things running at once, and make sure you don't have too many items running at startup. Windows defender > tools > startup programs (do this before installing new anti-virus protection, as that turns defender off. If u need to, temporarily turn defender back on just to list the startup programs), and see if too many programs are loading early and if you even want them to load at all. too many currently running and startup programs can slow down your system.

Check if you have a virus. If you don't have an anti-virus, recommend Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. Check and make sure device manager does not list any non-updated drivers. If your computer cannot handle some aspects of vista like its theme, high display settings, and windows features that take up a lot of resources, turn as much as you can off so that they do not slow yo... It even keeps dropping the wifi connection, despite the wifi being perfectly stable. Have I completely destroyed this system?  Below are screen shots of the Vantage window with the BIOS and product number.  I've never had such an issue like this after a full system restore.  Thanks!

As the title says, I have problems with Windows Update. I tried some fixes like: Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components, Reset_Windows_Update_History, MicrosoftFixit50362 (which is a Microsoft Installer Fixer that couldn't install PowerShell), MicrosoftFixit50202. But what I really need is installing .NET Framework 4. I tried forcing it to install, installing it step by step, but it couldn't go further than .NET Framework 3.5. I need that Framework, the other updates don't really matter. And the interesting thing is that my antivirus doesn't say that Windows is not up-to-date, which is not normal, in ESET Smart Security, if Windows is not up-to-date.

A:Windows Update stuck at Checking for Updates and can't install Updates manually

Hi antoniu200:

Many other Vista users have reported that Windows Update seems to get stuck at "Checking for updates..." for long periods of time, and this problem dates back to the August 2015 Patch Tuesday updates - see my screenshots in ScousaJAY's thread windows update just seems to hang while checking in the VistaForums. This month's December 2015 Patch Tuesday updates required a full hour on my machine before it finished the  "Checking for updates..." phase and finally presented a list of available updates, so you might want to try running a manual Windows Update and leaving your computer alone for an hour or so to see if it eventually runs to completion.

I have never posted on a forum before so apologies if I am doing this wrong. The problem started when I tried to plug in my (new) iphone to my Dell pc. The device was not detected so I tried to update my itunes software - update failed and I received a Windows 7 error. After searching through multiple forums and trying to download windows utility cleaner, etc - nothing has helped. Also, if I try to run the 'Check for Updates" link on my computer - if NEVER stops searching for updates and there for I cant update anything. Not sure where to start

A:Windows Check for updates keeps running-all installation/updates fail

Let's start with the easy stuff

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

I'm trying to add the latest updates on my Windows 8 (64-bit) laptop (Asus Q400A-BHI7N03) and the checking for updates... never completes. I've even tried leaving it over night with no success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Windows Update never finds updates (Checking for updates never ends)
