Q: A least six different and frequent BSOD errors


Since I finished building a desktop (the specifications of which you can find in my profile) in May this year, I've been experiencing BSODs. The first appeared approximately two weeks after building completed, and from thereon after I have encountered one or two a week with no single action seeming to cause one.

I reinstalled Windows 7 within the last week and the BSODs have become far more frequent. You can find several .dmp files in the attached zip file and they represent BSODs from August 5th to today (August 8th).

Using the BlueScreenView software, it looks like a USB problem. For example, one .dmp file lists the file 'EtronXHCI.sys' as being associated with the problem; another lists AsrAppCharger.sys (ASRock USB charing post-shutdown software/driver) and VBoxUSBMon.sys. Furthermore, a BSOD a few minutes ago seen Windows 7 boot with the attached 'USB3.PNG' window.

The only thing I can do that almost always brings about a BSOD is install an operating system to a VirtualBox machine. This happened at least three times while attempting to install Windows Server 2012 to one.

So far I have unplugged the case USB from the motherboard, uninstalled ASRock XFast USB software, and updated all drivers with DriverPack Solution. Of course, none of this has aided the problems as I continue to experience BSODs - one of which happened during my first attempt to post this message.

I should also add that I have tested memory using memtest86 (no errors) and that my video card was added approximately two months after the initial build, which is why I doubt it is behind the issues.

While not a computer hardware or Windows 7 expert, I'm very computer literate and work as a computer network technician, so I'm able to get technical as needs be to solve this.

USB issues

Have you tried to make your way to Device Manager, expand all the USB related devices and then right click them one by one, and select Properties, Driver-tab, Uninstall Driver. Then Reboot.

Also make sure that Windows Update has no hidden updates, and is basically fully updated, including your device drivers such as the USB related ones.

Hi there,

A couple of days ago my computer started freezing and becoming unresponsive, then coming up with application errors titled 'steamwebhelper.exe - Application Error' or 'chrome.exe - Application Error'. After this the screen either goes completely black and I have to turn it off from the power button (Ctrl+Alt+Delete doesn't work), or I get BSOD, with a message saying 'A process or thread crucial to system operations has unexpectedly ended.' After this I go to turn the computer back on and it comes up with a message saying 'Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key'. I assume this is the computer trying to boot from the CDROM Drive, and I can get around it by pressing Backspace/F8 at startup and changing the boot priorities. I've ran a ChkDsk, a memory check and even done a system restore and it still continues, any help would be appreciated.

Dear All,

I have been experiencing frequent BSOD crashes on my desktop since 2 weeks ago, with different BSOD error messages every time. The BSOD errors may come when my computer is on idle mode, when I am surfing the net, or when I am playing games (which pretty much means at all possible times)

Even when running the SysnativeFileCollectionApp, I experienced 2 BSOD, and had to collect the data in Safe mode.

Hi, this is my first post.  You do a great job here from what I can see    I hope this is the correct forum for BSOD help and support.
My Toshiba Satellite is only two months old and I have been getting BSOD errors for ages.  My system spec is:
Windows 8.1
Toshiba Satellite C55D-A-15H (Laptop)
Processor AMD A6-5200 APU APU with Radeon HD Graphics 2.00 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00GB  (7.44  GB available)
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
I have updated drivers on numerous occasions, restored my laptop in recovery twice, have run Malwarebytes and have no virus.  I have also run your Tweaking Computers Repair (All in One) many times but am still getting BSOD's daily. 
I am unable to open or read the dump files as it will not let me open them - it says I do not have permission, but this my own personal laptop and I am the Administrator - nor can I zip them???  I have Bluescreen View downloaded and this shows the dump errors but does not give a full dump file.  I am going to try and attach a doc from Bluescreen for your information.

Hi Everyone,

I have a weird BSOD problem which I cannot solve for a while.

The main strange thing about this is that I get BSOD only after cold boot.
So it acts like this:

1. start PC.
2. Get to Windows Logo Screen
4. Restart
5. Get to menu where I can try to repair or Start NormallyIf I Choose Repair, it will fail to repair and will try to restoreIf I Choose Start Normally, it will start OK, no BSOD, can work normally, games, browse internet, everything is normal.6. Shutdown PC
7. Next time when I start is all over again i.e. Go to Step 1

I have this problem for a while, so what I tried:
1. Another Windows 7
2. Another HDD
3. Only HDD connected
4. Changed RAM
5. Tried with built in GPU

Result is the same as above everytime.

Please suggest what could be the cause.

I wonder if someone might be able to help me with BSOD errors that I've been getting for the last 2 months. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, and I'm having no luck figuring out what problem is.

The crashes are pretty random, constant, and the error codes (dump file attached), are inconsistent. Occasionally the comptuer will just freeze rather than BSOD, but that's not too frequent. I often get numerous crashes right when turning on the computer, but after 3-5 attempts, I can usually get it to fully boot, and stay on long enough to work on. But then it'll BSOD later.

The only thing I've noticed with the BlueScreenView results is that under the "caused by driver" category, I see ntoskrnl.exe more often than anything else. I've googled this, but haven't yet found any solution.

The Bug Check Strings are all over the place... nothing jumps out as being seen too often.

Sofar here is what I've tried.

Thoroughly scanned my computer for possible viruses or malaware - no issues found

Cleaned the dust out of my computer and fans - no improvement

Scanned my HD for bad sectors - no issues found

Installed all relevant windows updates - no improvement

Removed new USB 3.0 PCIe Expansion Card (this was the ony new hardware I added in the last

several months) - removing the card made no improvements

updated my video card driver - no improvement

updated my motherboard drivers - no improvement

I've run into quite a jam here. I got a blue screen error a couple days ago while playing League of Legends that I believe was titled IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL, though it could have been something else. Anyway, I rebooted, ran a full system scan using Avast! antivirus (with nothing found), ran a LOLclient fix, and also played some Dark Souls to see if it was an overheating problem. Dark Souls ran fine, so I don't believe it's overheating. I discovered my NVIDIA card driver was out of date, so I went ahead and updated that with no errors. I ran League again, and the problem persisted. At this point I'm afraid I either have some corrupted system files or a very sneaky virus. I've blue screened multiple times following the first incident with errors including "File possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum." and even "A disc read error ocurred" at startup.Sometimes I will blue screen before I even get to the login screen, and sometimes my monitor simply displays nothing, or just the mouse. I'd like to single out the problem before wiping my drive, and I don't have a system reboot disc. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Attached are the kernel files of one of the recent BSOD's, though I'm not sure which as I've blue screened a couple times after collecting the files.

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Let us know the results.

Also, in the next time, if the problem persists, upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

I have just gotten my first BSOD after I thought I solved my issues (bad ram). It has occurred after frequent bad stub errors, leading me to believe they are linked. I have tried to solve bad stub errors using sfc/scannow, returning corrupt files that couldn't be fixed. I have run AVG scan and Malware-bytes scan to see if some malicious program had altered files both returned nothing. I have only recently started having bad stub errors that occur on windows applications and 3rd party applications. I don't think my SSD or HDD is failing as my OS install is on the SSD and everything else is on the HDD, and the errors have happened with programs installed on SSD and with ones installed on HDD, therefore not linking it specifically to my hard drive or SSD (as far as to my understanding of the issue). It would be greatly appreciated if someone could look at my dump file to help determine the cause of my BSOD and to what I think will be the cause of bad stub errors. My windows 10 installation was upgraded to from windows 7, and I have installed all updates pushed to me by Microsoft. Lastly if it helps at all I had just stopped playing a game, so the computer had swung from high load to almost no load.

The most recent were related to pci.sys (your pinnacle software). I would remove it

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

BSOD happens unpredictably, more often when doing something graphic intensive but not always.

The audio usually loops for a few seconds until the machine reboots.

A:Frequent BSOD with various errors and odd noises.

It looks like memory corruption.

Test your RAM using Memtest86+. Let it run until 6-8 passes have completed or errors have been found.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Enable Driver Verifier. Enabling this should hopefully crash your system and then point to the faulty driver that is causing problems. However before you do, it is advised that you create a system restore point and backup first.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

You might also want to isolate each stick of RAM and see if your computer crashes with each individual stick.

Hello all!

One of my PCs is having pretty frequent BSODs (a few times a day), can happen with just the desktop and no programs open or whilst playing games.

I originally thought this was a memory issue so did a memtest, got 9 passes so stopped it after that. HDD appears to be fine too (this is also all new hardware, purchased in november '14).
The most common errors it pops up with are Kernel security check failure and IRQ_not_less_or_equal.

The OS is Windows 10, however this also happened on 8.1 initially (I don't expect 10 to be stable, I'm happy to deal with it if something just isn't compatible - but would like to check if there's something I can do first! ). My other 2 PCs run W10 like a dream but they're all different hardware.

I built my own computer for the first time about a month ago and everything has been fine, but a few days ago I got my first BSOD and it has been excessive since then. I can't seem to pinpoint what I'm doing when it happens, because it can happen while doing anything from playing a game, surfing on chrome, or just sitting there. I tried to have a go at analyzing the event logs and I redownloaded and reinstalled my graphics driver but it did not help. I then found there was a newer BIOS version for my motherboard, so I updated that and there were no BSOD's for the entire day and I thought I fixed the problem. But then I got a new mouse, tried to install the drivers and now the crashes have started again. I get a BSOD on startup when I try to run driver verifier and it always get BSOD before I can finish a full scan with my anti-virus (microsoft security essentials). I also ran check disk and it reported no problems or bad sectors. I'll attach the minidump files here and I'm going to run a memtest, any help is appreciated. Let me know if you need any more info.

I am trying to fix a computer for a relative, but cannot seem to figure out the cause of these BSOD's, they are frequent, with the computer running typically for less than 5 minutes before crashing out, once or twice for longer since I've received it. I removed expired versions of norton internet security and another norton program as well as a basic virus scan with malwarebytes. The laptop also passed a single full pass from memtest.

The good news is that all your dump reports were consistent. The bad news is that they indicate a driver as the problem. The driver is a Microsoft Driver and is actually not the cause, however. This consistency leads me to believe that it is a driver problem. Use Driver Verfier to help us find out which one.

I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

What I have done so far

1. Upgraded Power supply to cooler master thunder 600watt.
2. Replaced RAM
3. Removed Dust from the CPU

This could be a separate issue altogether but I have been unable to install the majority of windows updates (120 updates mainly consisting of windows 7 updates, security updates and .net framework updates.)

This build ran brilliant to start, until about 6 months ago I began getting frequent blue screens. I exhausted everything I knew to do(updated my chipset drivers, VGA driver, network card driver, updated my bios, dusted this thing out 100%, replaced power supply from 500watt to 750 watt)I've been monitoring fan speeds, and cpu temp (about 40 celcius at idle peaks at about 60 when stressed)

ive reformatted fresh today reinstalled the above drivers and still have the same issue

Hi all,

I've been getting a lot of BSODs in the past couple of months with errors like "PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA", though this is one of many. It's particularly prevalent when playing graphically intensive games like Guild Wars 2, which is almost guaranteed to trigger it.

Initially, I thought it was a faulty NVidia 560 GTX card, so I brought it back to the shop and reinstalled my old ATI 6770. The crashes stopped for a few weeks just after I swapped out the cards, but recently have started up again. They occur at least once a day, often two or three times.

Every component I have is less than 12 months old except for the hard drives. There doesn't seem to be any overheating. I ran Memtest86 overnight on two occasions with no errors. I have changed Anti Virus software (from Comodo Firewall & Avast to Zone Alarm), updated all drivers as far as I can tell, and eventually had Windows 7 reinstalled - all to no avail.

'Who Crashed' indicates a different cause virtually every time I run it, usually blaming a third party driver but isn't able to indicate which one.

It's driving me mad at this stage as I have no clue what is the cause of the BSODs. I've attached the info from the Diagnostic Tool if anyone out there can help me.

Hi, for the last week I have been putting together a low power, small form factor, miniITX windows 7 64 bit based HTPC. Unfortunately, while playing various types of movie files in either windows media center or windows media player, anywhere from immediately to 45 minutes into the playing of the media file either the video and audio will freeze, and a few seconds later, the system will power off with no warning messages and stay off until I turn it back on. The same thing has also happened a few times when simply browsing media in windows media center. Otherwise, it has not happened outside of playing media, such as doing routine tasks in the OS.

So, technically, I am not getting blue screens, but the windows log shows kernal power errors every time I reboot and look at the event viewer.

The hardware is as follows:

Hi guys,

I built a PC about 12 months ago and have had BSOD problems on and off since making it.

The first month of operation was fine. Then during the Battlefield 4 Beta, I started to get BSOD's (can't remember the error), and then in Guild Wars 2. I did some basic troubleshooting but ended up reinstalling windows. This fixed the problem for several months.

Now for the last 6 months I have had increasing amounts of BSOD's, culminating in tonight's new record of 5 in one hour.

They are most apparent in various hard to run video games, including but not limited to the Battlefield 4, Beta, and Release; Aion; Firefall; Dota 2; Star Citizen; Elite Dangerous; Guild Wars 2, ArcheAge. Some of these, like Battlefield 4, were prolific. Some of these rarely ever crashed.

I've also had two blue screens while using Adobe After Effects, one using Photoshop, and one using Blender. I don't use these programs enough at home to have a decent sample size of usage.

99% of the time, the computer never bluescreens in general usage, or in heavy CPU usage. Only heavy GPU usage, from what I can tell. There have been one or two during normal operation for sure, but much rarer than ingame/program.

I have spent what time I can in the last 10 or so months, trying to figure out what it could be. I have done everything from Testing Ram (memtest for 48 hours, passed everything, no fails) to trying hundreds of drivers for every component. Hi Rasket, I'll see if I can help you. first, your dump files list a whole bunch of drivers and Windows Updates. Almost every one is a different bug code. My experience with ones like this are either a bad install, bad memory or a bad overclock. So, first of all, if you are overclocking anything at all, set everything back to default levels. Next I would like you to reinstall your graphics drivers using this method

Also, accept the idea that some of the games you are playing just cause serious issues for many people. I have helped at least 6 people in the last 2 weeks who had similar issues with Archage. From everything I can gather, it appears to simply be a very badly encoded game. I have had 2 people with otherwise stable machines that would BSOD from trying to install it. BF4, is not quite so bad, but there are quite a few people, including myself, who have serious issues with it. It was patched and patched and every time it got worse. Strangely, many people have no problem with it, others it gives them fits. Finally I had to simply uninstall it. So, at least part of your problem may be the games you are playing.

Next I would like you to test your SSD for any Firmware updates and run Seatools for DOS on your other hard drive (SeaTools for DOS | Seagate) please run both the short and the long test. The instructions are at the bottom of the page.

Hey everyone,
I have this Acer laptop that i purchased 3 years back. It gives me BSODs very often, mostly when the computer is idle or when i attempt to open up chrome. Also i have done a clean installation of the Windows 7 Home Basic 32 bit a week back and started installing all drivers and it was working without any BSODs for 4 days which was unbelievable but as i started installing applications (the last ones i remember installing before BSODs were Winamp, OpenSubtitlesPlayer) its again started giving me these BSODs with the same error code everytime. Ive attached the DM log collector report below(COSMICGATE-PC). Also Im new to posting threads so let me know if any more information is required from my side.

Hello everyone.
I have a BSOD/Stop Error problem that I am at my wits end in trying to fix.
Basically, starting a few days ago and getting worse these last 2 days my computer is randomly (as in, at random times/intervals) yet frequently (as in within a few minutes of booting) BSOD'ding.
The crashes don't seem to be related to a single driver and as far as I can tell, during no specific task.
Recommended troubleshooting files are attached.
Here is my system run-down:
? Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255) - fully up-to-date and installed from disc on the 2nd of February on a freshly formatted 1TB HDD
?My system itself varies in age as it has been upgraded over time - between 2006 and now.
?CPU: AMD Athlon 6400+
?GPU: Nvidia 8800GT
?MoBo: I am not actually sure - this is because for the last month (since just before I installed Windows 7) I have been using an "old" Dell Motherboard (From an E521) while my "usual" motherboard is being repaired (Asus are pretty damned slow here in Europe...), I know it has an Nforce 400 chipset.
PSU: OCZ Stealth Xtream 700W.
Just as a note: All drivers are up-to-date.

Hi - I keep on getting random BSOD while watching Netflix, Youtube, or just simply browsing (although it's more frequent on Netflix / Youtube). This has been going on ever since my PC was built, but I just kept on ignoring them. However I want to get rid of the problem because it is interrupting my work.

I wish i could provide more details, but the errors I am getting seem pretty random. My SF zip file that is attached on this thread contains dmp files from January to this date, and it can be seen that the errors are different.

Hi all. I am having some issues with my PC, and it would be great if someone could help me out.

Crashes almost always occur while browsing firefox- and they seem to occur more frequently when I have a ton of tabs open. I can run Mass Effect 3, Diablo 3, and Witcher 2, and KoA: Amalaur at max settings with no issues. (Ok, that's not really true- I can't run Witcher 2 at the "uber" setting). The only time I experienced BSODs in a game was Batman: Arkham City.

CPU temps are low, I've turned all overclocking off. The GPU is factory overclocked, but I have tried underclocking with MSI afterburner to stock speeds w/ no luck. I've run memtest 3 times through on each memory dimm card (I isolated them and tested separately). I know that some ram can pass through memtest but still be corrupted. That's fine- it's the cheapest component to replace, really. But I just want to make sure it's not some stupid driver issue that I can't identify. I would really appreciate it if anyone here has a moment to take a look. Thanks!

So I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium on an Acer Aspire 5349. I've been having a bunch of issues with it since the install.

Firstly, When I boot, it takes me to the "Disk Check" screen and tells me that one of my disks needs to be checked for consistency. However, the disk in question isn't something like "C:" or "D:" it's "\\?\volume{c4afec15-cb60-11e4-9583-806e6f6e6963}". The disk check also automatically cancels. It doesn't prompt me with the usual " Press any button to stop the disk check" option, just straight to " Disk check has been cancelled"

When I eventually get to the desktop, I get the screen " Windows detected a hard disk problem ". I look at the details and I'm told that my C:\ drive has been reporting failures. When I check the status of the disk via the Disk Management tool I'm told that all my partitions are healthy.

When I actually use the laptop, it's very slow and frequently freezes. It takes a while to catch back up and sometimes these freezes lead to a BSOD. The BSOD message was KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. I checked the event viewer and it also seemed that before certain crashes I would have driver controller error on an IDE Port. I've attached a picture of the disk check screen, event viewer, and memory dump. This has all started since installing EA's Origin in order to play SimCity and Battlefield 3, the later crashes with a BSOD Stop 0x0000001 within about 1 minute of starting, SimCity will give me up to an hour before BSOD'ing.
It's 50:50 whether it's a BSOD or a 'SimCity has stopped working...'

On top of this, I now have randomly applications including Spotify and Chrome just crashing - Chrome has crashed twice in the time it has taken me to write this post.

My hunch is a memory leak somewhere, Memtest completed about 6-7 passes last night with no errors.

Dear Seven Forums,
I'm looking for help regarding my pc that I built 3 months ago.

I am having random crashes of all types:

- 99% of the games crash to desktop after 10-15 minutes (Overwatch,Eu4,Hoi4, CIV V is OK,Witcher 3)
- can't use chrome / firefox for more than 1-2 minutes because of either 'Oops.. something went wrong' or the applications close without error.
- Randomly appearing crashes of antimalware-service and explorer.exe

and of course many blue screens while 'browsing' ,playing

What I've also noticed that I can go playing EU4,Warthunder 3-4 hours without issues and then suddenly keep BSODing the next 4-5 restarts.
I've filled out the PC specs in my profile.
What I've already tried:
-I've reinstalled Win7 3 times and reinstalled Win10 2 times. All of the fresh installs resulted in blue screens.
- I've also tried adjusting BIOS settings like setting tad higher RAM voltage, CPU voltage, running the PCIE in 8x or 4x Mode, and using XMP settings. The recent 3-4 blue screens happened with all the BIOS settings reverted using 'Restore default settings'.
- I've been using 2x4 2400Mhz Kingston DDR4 Rams the first 2 months, but replaced them with the Corsair ones in hopes of solving the BSODs (I've done a clean install + BIOS reset after replacing the RAM)
-edit: I've also tried disabling hardware acceleration in hopes of solving the chrome crashes

Looking for tips to finally be able to identify the faulty driver/hardware

If you have installed any driver with Driver Booster 3, please remove them as it may cause trouble.

An easy way to get remove these drivers is by using a restore point prior the installation.

Please ensure that all overclocking is removed for RAM, CPU & GPU while troubleshooting.

This all kicked off when I installed EA's Origin to start playing SimCity 2013 - I believe I also updated the video card drivers shortly before this, now I can't play any games for more than 1 hour, and even applications like Chrome and Spotify will randomly crash.

I just joined BleepingComputer. I just hope that somebody on here can provide a little insight on what my problem is.

Alright the story is:

While I'm on my computer, usually on the internet: through Internet Explorer, Firefox, Voice Communication programs(Ventrilo), and my "addiction" World of Warcraft, I will get frequent errors. The errors have no explaination on what they are or even how to fix them. I get the old "_______ has encountered an error and must close, please excuse the inconvenience". Hello everyone,

I have a brand new amd 2600+ with : nvidia geforce 4 mx 440, and 80 gig hard drive, 512 mbs of RAM.

I kept having errors, i couldnt even run games it was getting so bad. I took off memory dumps (suggested), turned off "restart my computer if a serious error occurs", and turned off sending error reports (suggested).

It started out as restarting my game in the middle of action. Then taking off the "restart my computer if serious error occurs" stopped the frequent restarting. The memory dump disable stopped a big blue screen from coming up that said "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". Then the error reports would come up, and freeze my game, but disabling that stopped it. Now...the game just shuts out, brings me back to my desktop, and leaves me with the gaming settings (very bright colors).

Someone please help me fix this problem! If you have any idea what the "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error means, please tell me! If you have any idea what is causing the game to shut out, tell me! It isnt just this single game either, happens on all of my games. Thanks for viewing, but please help!

Let me start off by saying that I custom built this computer in June with all compatible parts.
Since June, I've been experiencing crashes. Three different professionals have had my PC in shop to diagnose and fix. Each diagnosis and "fix" did not solve the issue.

It's a modest build: AMD 4300 CPU, GeForce 950, MSI board, ddr3 ram, two case fans plus the CPU fan (all functional), HDD and SSD. Windows 7 professional 64 bit OS.

The motherboard has been replaced with a brand new one, the ram had been replaced 4 times, HDD has been replaced, psu and video card have all been tested, and Windows has been clean installed several times using several instillation discs.

Not, this last fix after the HDD had been replaced seemed to work for fine for 4 days while updating Windows. Then within the past two days, I've received stop errors 0x50, 0xFE, 0x1E, and 0x1A.

I haven't ran memtest again (for the hundredth time), but I did run chkdsk, malwarbytes, scannow, and Windows diagnostic. All came back clean. All drivers are up to date, including chipset. I have one Windows update that won't update regardless of how I try. Not sure if that's related.

I'm at a loss here. If anyone might have any insight, please do assist.

I've been plagued by blue screens the last 6 months. Possible causes may be the hard disc crash I had back then, the new hard discs that I installed, the fresh windows 7 installation or maybe even something totally different. However, I don't know how to tackle this problem.

Hello. I have been using hwinfo to monitor my PC, and it is reading WHEA errors. Checking in the event system viewer, they are all event ID 20, and event ID 5. The PC is barely a month old, and was originally using windows 8.1, and never had these errors. In fact, every error seems to have begun the exact date of my WIndows 10 installation. Any help and ideas exactly what is causing this would be greatly appreciated. I haven't had any BSOD just to clarify, just the error codes.

Everytime im browsing the internet with internet explorer 6 it crashes!! For no specific reason and at no specific time or website!!!!

For the past few weeks I've been having occasional crashes while playing games or browsing the internet, and when I try to restart I get another blue screen before I can login to my computer. Today I've been getting multiple BSODs and having trouble starting up windows again, and startup repair can't fix whatever is wrong. If you need anymore info, I'll do my best to get it for you. Right, the cause appears to be from Symantec Anti Virus. I also know this because you said it blue screened before you can log in. I had exactly the same issue except I was using Bullguard.
Please remove Symantec AV and all other Symantec products, then install Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes from these links.

Note when installing Malwarebytes make sure you untick the box that starts a free trial of malwarebytes pro because the pro version is a real time scanner which could and most likely will conflict with MSE. The free version is an on demand scanner which should cause no conflicts

You also have fatal hardware bugchecks which can be caused by drivers as I have personally experienced.
Only do the following after you have uninstalled Symantec and the computer still crashes.

Please run some hardware stress tests to determine the faulty component (If it is hardware related which is most likely is)

Prime95 - This stresses the CPU.
Furmark - This stresses the GPU.
Memtest86 - This scans RAM for errors.

After trying for months to figure this problem out and nearly throwing the machine out the window I've found the issue for certain. It was the processor. I received the replacement a week ago and haven't had a problem since. Everything runs fast, cool, and without error. Thanks to all who helped out.


I?ve been having a problem where my computer will ?freeze? and just sit there. No errors, no BSOD, just frozen until I do a hard reset. Upon reboot there are no indications of any errors, there aren?t any errors in any of the system logs, and there aren?t any logs in the minidump folder for windows. I?ve left the machine on for more than an hour and it just sits there frozen.

System specs:
Windows XP SP2
Asus P5N-D
Nvidia 9800GT
2x 2gb Corsair XMS DDR2 Memory
Corsair HX620 Power Supply

I believe it to be one of the components causing the issue and would love some help on how to isolate the troublesome component. Here?s where I?m at.

I thought it was the video card so I swapped it out with an ATI 1950X. I got another lockup. I removed one of the sticks of RAM and placed it into another machine and that machine runs great. No errors or lock ups. Just to verify that the 9800gt was good I placed it in the same machine as the RAM and it also runs like a champ.

So now I?m stuck. I?ve been getting lockups in the machine for several months and they were getting progressively worse. Something isn't working... Read more

A:Frequent Crash / No errors

Put your memory back in and run Memtest86 from a boot floppy or cd if you don't have a floppy. Let it run for several hours on both sticks unless its obvious theres something wrong. If you get errors you might be able to RMA the ram, Corsair is really good about it, just copy down the error codes and go to there web site and make an RMA request. Sometimes bad ram gets out into the world and they know its coming back to them, so there really good about it. I once had two bad 512mb sticks or DDR they didn't even make anymore, so they sent me two 1gig sticks to replace them. Cool huh?

Oh, I forgot, you might want to go into the bios and set safe defaults and see what happens.

The Hardware Device Manager property pages have NO such setting as suggested above. I have repeatedly run DISKPERF -Y or DISKPERF -YD and re-booted. The problem always reappears the first time I run

the same kind of task. "chkdsk /R /X" reports all 3 drives clean. I have defragged all drives using SysinternalsSuite - Contig+PowerDefragmenter. The Microsoft events link is of no use whatever ! Would

defragging the page file make any difference? How about installing and running "Caschman 7.0" ?

Well the motherboard on my other computer is pretty much dead now, happened allot sooner than I expected too, and I haven't gotten very far in building my new computer, yet. (in fact I have none of the parts, yet.) So I am using my backup computer now, and I guess it is pretty old, a few years at least, but it is all I have for now. Herein lies the problem, my backup computer has been showing the 'Blue Screen of Death' 1-5 times per day, and freezing about as frequently. I only thought to bring the error codes here on the most resent occurrence, when I got two back to back, and the big problem is that if this computer dies, too, I have no computer to replace it with, at least not for a little while.
the entire message before the code is as follows:

This is a Windows ME computer, and the only non-standard parts are the RAM, which as far as I know are good and firmly in place, and the power supply.
It is a pretty old IBM, as I got it from a friend who had it for a few years, before he gave it to me.

Hello everyone,

Beginning about a week ago I encountered a random BSOD and didn't think anything of it. Unfortunately they began to continue, increasing in frequency until as of this posting my laptop will not stay on for longer than 5 minutes in normal mode. (I get a more time in safe mode.)

The errors mainly include 0xf4 with the occasional 0x7a. Sometimes dumps are made but other times I get 0xf4 with a dump status 0xC0000010 and a 0x7a with a status 0xC000009C.

I have done some things to see if the error lies in my hardware. I have run memtest86+ ~7 or so times with no errors occurring. I have run chkdsk /f /r several times on C: to see if any bad sectors have appeared but that was also fruitless. I have checked to see if Windows Update has anything for me but it didn't. Outside of that I'm not sure what to do.

The two problems jumping out in your dumps are Driver Reference Table - WRkrn.sys & Driver Reference Table - tdx.sys
First one is AV related so may be worth trying to uninstall and run MSE as a test
Second one is a windows provided driver so i would run a SFC scan to check for any corrupt/missing files
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Although your AV would be my first suspect culprit

Win XP with Comodo Firewall, with Mcafee antivirus 8.7i, free Spyware Doctor and Malwarebytes, and Threatfire. EeePC laptop. I'm the average user, so I'm sorry for not knowing any terms I should be using.

My computer has a lot of errors when it starts. On the blue bar with the start button, I get the red icon with the balloon indicating that my antivirus is disabled when it's just loaded, and sometimes, my firewall is disabled as well (a circle with red border and red diagonal line across it appears after a while). Sometimes it takes me an hour of starting and restarting the computer before it gets it right.

And if I'm unlucky, my computer slows down and hangs. I have to pull the plug and the battery, and when I reboot, it's again another hour or so before my PC starts up correctly.

A virus and a spyware scan have turned up nothing. I've been using the programs for quite a while now, so I don't think it's because of conflicting programs (unless it is). My mouse once went berserk because I had too many security programs - removed two, had the registry cleaned (with Comodo System Cleaner, but the only thing I know about registry cleaners is that you need it for programs that don't uninstall cleanly) and it worked fine for a few weeks or so until the start-up errors. I have an external hard drive connected all the time, if that's going to be important.

Are these errors normal? Am I just being nitpicky about wanting my computer to start up correctly all the time? Hel... Read more

My computer is a Lenovo Ideapad Y570, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, Quad Core I7 2.2ghzm 8 gig factory ram, 500 gig primary drive and 750 gig secondary, both upgraded in less than a month.
I use my computer mainly for djing and music producing, so majority of programs have been shut down during start up to prevent issues. Recently i have been getting program crash errors that always point to a memory  hang up or crash. I ran the factory diagnostic program and it told me memory reached over 90% capacity and stayed there for over 3 minutes. I know my program uses extra resources but have never had it stress memory this bad. I am curious if a memory leak could possibly be the issue and how i can check for this. I used Passmark software to stress test  my memory and it found no memory errors.
In addition, i check on memory upgrades and found conflicting answers on upgrade space. According to the crucial website, i am at my max memory capacity, but the Lenovo Solution Center program, it says max usable capacity to be 16 gig. I dont want to spend money on memory upgrades if it is going to be unusable. My computer only has 2 ram slots.

Hi ,
I am getting frequent blue screen error with the error message "memory_management irql_not_less_or_equal"
I have ran a diagnostics on the RAM and HDD and both seem to be working fine , i have updated BIOS on the machine to the latest version , updated the drivers on the machine as well . 
I tried to analyse the .dmp files for the crash and i get a result which shows that the cause of the crash is ntoskrnl.exe+ a few numbers followed by it .

Frequently most often when I have two explorer windows are open, the windows lock up and I have to alt-ctr-del and the explorer windows are not responding. This is triggered when I get an error message to close windows explorer. After I close the non-responding windows everything fixes but it is frustrating. This is new and I am unsure why. I have posted a picture of the error information hoping it is helpful to narrowing down the problem.
