OMNI 120 screen displays split, with left portion on the rig...

Q: OMNI 120 screen displays split, with left portion on the rig...

Turned the computer on this morning, and the display is showing as split, with the left side of the screen showing on the right and the right side of the screen showing on the left, with a black line in the middle. This doesn't show this way when I remote into the system, only on the internal monitor. I tried changing the resolution, with no effect. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Well the subject pretty much says it.....when I drag a window to the right it behaves properly and snaps to half the monitor, however when I drag the 2nd window to the left it will not activate. Any ideas?

Hi there, I have been reading many posts on this forum, and apparently I am not the only one with this problem: My HP Envy 6-1010sa left hinge has decided to go askew and it's making the left bottom edge of my screen to spit, as I open/close the screen. I have not read about any solutionsfrom HP on my fellow-commentators, so I'm not sure what to do. As everyone else, my warranty has just expired, the laptop is only approx. 1.5 years old. The laptop works totally fine, and the screen is fine too and normally I am really happy with this laptop! But I am really worried now, I don't want the screen to get damaged even more! Can anyone, from HP please, tell me how to fix this? The hinge is not broken I think, it just seems out of position and I cant get it back in position and it's pulling the screen apart. I'm based in Amsterdam, is there a HP repair department in Amsterdam where I can go to? It seems like such an easy thing to repair, I just want a professional to look at it and I can't afford a whole new screen/whole new laptop! Many thanks for you help in advance! Here is an image that someone else posted, mine looks exactly the same! (how odd) Thanks, Susanne

I built my own computer, keeping the CD-ROM drive, cd-rw drive, and hard drive. I had to reformat my old hard drive to get it to work. I installed XP Pro, and partitioned it into two parts, one 10 GBs, the other 20 GB. Windows installed on the 10 GB portion, and the 20 GB portion is empty. I would like to transfer all the files from the 10 GB portion to the 20 GB portion, but every time I try, it says I cannot because the system files are in use. I would also like to transfer all files from a hard drive in a really old computer that I am giving to a relative so I don?t lose all those files, the old old hard drive is 7 gb, and runs windows 98. I would like to transfer the entire drive, including all system and personal files so I have two OSs on the new computer, to the 10 GB portion of the newer hard drive

System specs on new computer:
VA-20 motherboard
2700+ Semperon CPU
512 ddr pc2700 ram

specs on old computer:
900mhz Celeron
128mb upgraded to 256mb pc100
hp manufacturer
30 GB samsung hard drive
bought in 2001

Specs on old old computer
333mhz PII(I think)
64 MB ram
packard bell manufacturer
7 GB fujitsu hard drive
bought in 1998

both hard drives are IDE

A:Transferring all files from one portion to another portion of partitioned hard drive

If you have not loaded a lot of programs yet ,
I suggest the easiest way is reload the xp to the 2nd partition
that will get you dual boot.
as you add programs ghost them to the 2nd OS
the copying of the other drive is little simpler
get seagate harddrive utility connect up the 2nd drive as slave
copy to the drive letter of your 2nd partition
no OS is running on 2nd drive you should be OK
ps watch out on startup XP may not like the file struction of this drive get ready to abort chkdsk ,you don't want this to run
as the other drive is probubly DOS file system

The monitor displays garbled pixels in a vertical column about 200 pixels wide down the whole height of the screen just left of center. It comes and goes but mostly it is getting worse. The desktop computer it is attached to is new but the previous computer had the same problem. The warranty just expired in August and I want to know where I can get it fixed or is it something I have to fix myself? I am not a service technician but it looks to me like there is something loose. Sometimes, if I press on the monitor it starts working properly. Once I even banged the monitor and it started to display properly. I do a lot of video editing which is partly the reason I purchased the monitor because it has a high resolution. It would be expensive to replace. I can't seem to find any authorized repair center. The place a bought it from (London Drugs computer department) says they don't handle repairs but since it is out of warranty they won't handle it. I'm getting frustrated because I can't actually seem to contact anyone at HP. There are no phone numbers anywhere on the HP Support Center.

Hi all,
I don't know if it is when I updated my video driver or if it was a Windows update, or what. I have a dual monitor setup but now all of a sudden, my desktop icons can only display in about the upper left 2/3 of the main monitor. There is space for 6 vertically and 10 horizontally. I can move them around in that space but they won't go anywhere else on either screen.
Any ideas?

On a different note, this is a fairly new system. I've got an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Processor @3.2 GHz, 16GB of ram, a TB harddrive that's only about 30% full and dual GTX 560 Ti video cards. The strange thing is, nearly any game I play, even when I set the settings fairly low, I get a lot of pauses in the display. It seems to take forever to load games too. This has happened since the computer was first setup so I don't think it's that things are too cluttered.

Thanks for any help you might have! It's frustrating to have spent all this money on a new system and I'm not sure it's running even as well as my old one with a single GTX 9800 card!

2.       Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds

3.       Once done only insert the mouse, keyboard, and power cable

4.       Try and turn the computer on to see what happens.

Hello, I am trying to install Windows XP (because Windows 7 is damn slow) Corporate Edition 64-bit but after the Copying Windows Files setup portion, the setup wants to restart my computer, but after the motherboard logo, I just get the blacnk screen with white dash - if CD is inserted I get "Press any key to boot from CD....." and a white dash at the end with nothing happening. I've searched for a solution everywhere, but I didn't find my case. I have installed XP atleas 20 times on this computer, and I've never had such problem before. I thought it could be because of the 64-bit version, but after trying to install the 32-bit version I have got the same issue, which has never happened before. Windows 7 installs perfectly. I have: removed the CD from the drive; Updated the BIOS to the last version; Tried running in safe mode and nothing helped. My computer specs are: Processor: Intel Pentium DualCore @ 2.80 GHz, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, 650GB HDD SATA2, ATI HD 4770 512MB DDR5 Graphics Card, American Megatrends Inc. 0502 BIOS. I hope there's somebody out there to help me because I really want XP.

A:Black screen with white dash after first portion of Windows Setup?

Seems that Windows XP installation is not detecting or having problems with your SATA2 drive.

Try going to BIOS and Switching the SATA2 drive out of RAID mode if possible see if that helps.

Windows Xp has issues with SATA2 Drives.

Or you may need to slipstream your copy of Xp with sp2 or 3 if your cd is only SP1 for it to recognize and work with SATA drives. Also with SATA drives I believe Windows XP only recognizes 128GB 137GB SATA drives.

Hi! I'm at the end of my rope trying to solve this issue with the mouse/touch pad on my Toshiba Satellite running Windows 8.1
The mouse pointer doesn't work in the center portion of the screen. The mouse pointer doesn't disappear or anything; but if I try to click on something in the affected area nothing happens and I can't complete any tasks. If I'm able to move the item to an area of the screen where the mouse pointer does work (for example, minimizing my browser), then I can open up the item that I was previously unable to work with. This only happens in a section on the center of the screen and it happens with every single program, not just my web browser. So it's clearly an issue with using the mouse in this area of the screen; I just don't know what's causing it and how to resolve things. Oh, and I also can't alternatively use the touch screen to access things in this area of the screen either. It's like there's an entire area blocked off from accessing.
The mouse shows as working properly in Device Manager. Ideas on what to do or what could be causing this to happen?

Hello, originally my problem is that my internet browsers (Internet explorer, firefox) can not display any kind of pages because of some kind of virus. Also I had some kind of fake Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) asking me to download more fake AV's onto my computer but I knew well enough that it was fake so I close it. This also shows up in safe mode. MSE block me from opening things such as iexplorer.exe or sometimes it would say tskmanager is a virus and it wouldn't let me open anything. So eventually I google this up, and I read somewhere that told me to rename hotfix.exe to hotfix1.exe when I run %APPDATA% so the annoying MSE would stop showing up. It also told me to update my Malwarebyte which I still can not do because I still do not have access to the internet. By the way I am using another computer to type this. So again, I tried to do some more research to fix my internet problem and I found this site that told me to download KillGodzilla.exe and run it and reboot my computer, after that I should update my Malwarebyte but of course, I can't do that because after the WINDOWS loading screen, the blue log in screen doesn't show and displays a black screen which flickers sometimes, after a few minutes it would restart my computer. Also same thing for safe mode. Does anyone know what is going on? Did I screw up my computer to badly? Do I need to reset my BIOS? I am using Windows XP if that helps. My laptop screen has suddenly stopped working. Images display with no problem on external screen. I have tried all the suggestions from HP such as hard restart, resetting the BIOS etc but still does not work. I recently took the laptop apart to clean out the fan and it has worked fine since then, but the other night the screen was working. It shut down when the battery drained. On restart using mains adaptor the following morning, the screen was completely dead. I noticed that if you press on the plug on the screen connector cable where it connects to the motherboard, the screen flashes bright white and the whole laptop powers off suddenly. It will then only power up again if you first remove the battery then replace it. Any ideas why the screen has stopped working?

A:Help with split screen.

What is the make and model of your machine? Looks like you have a motherboard to screen cable loose. Try moving the lip up and down or moving the laptop around, if the issue goes away or worsens then that will confirm that you have a loose cable. Take it to a repair shop. If it is still under warranty call Gateway for repairs.

Are you sure you did not drop it? Does anyone else have access to your laptop?

is there a program to split the monitor in half for like two people playing on one machine

A:split screen

Hi cole455 and welcome to TSF !

If you want two people to play the same game against one another on a single machine I'm afraid that's only possible if the game allows it (look for a player vs player split screen option).

If you want two people to use different applications at the same time on one single computer then take a look at this thread : http://www.techsupportforum.com/f255...pu-210421.html

I found this other related article but haven't heard of any freeware for XP lately :

If you only want to share the desktop space equally between two windows then look at this article : http://www.online-tech-tips.com/comp...in-windows-xp/. The application will have to run in windowed mode.

Depending on your video card, there'll be other options to customize your desktop in the advanced display properties.

I have looked everywhere in settings that I know that could possibly make it go back to normal but I can't see anything about a split screen.

Also, I am running on vga graphics instead of my graphics card because the drivers fail to work and everytime I try to update the driver I get a bsod on reboot. My graphics card is a 8600m gs.

The video chips are installed using something called pin grid array. little balls of solder are melted at each contact on the chip. what is happening is your heatsink is clogged and has gotten so hot it has remelted those balls of solder. Go to you tube and search fo solder reflow. you may be able to fix by putting the motherboard in the oven or use a heat gun. you Will also need to clean the heatsink and silicone anpossibly the thermal pads depending on make. get those on ebay.

A:split screen

L3xy Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about your display questions and wanted to help. 1) Split screen: Win10 has a function known as Aero-Snap in which when you have a window open, then open a second window -- and drag that window to the right or left edge of the disply, it immediately splits the display into two windows, each occupying half of the screen. 2) Second monitor: This depends on the output jacks on your PC.  If it has an HDMI, DVI, or VGA jack, you can connect a video cable to that and then to a monitor.  If there is no such jack, an option is something known as a USB-to-VGA adapter in which you can plug this into a USB port and the other end into a video cable connected to your monitor. These adapters also come as USB-to-DVI, have different resolution limits, and different prices.  You should Google to see samples to check out resolution limits and prices.Good LuckI am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.========================================================================If you feel my suggestions helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol to say thanks! If they helped resolve your issue, please click "Accept As Solution" to help others find similar information.

What is the current OS installed on the system? Was it working fine earlier? If the option was working fine earlier, then perform a system restore to restore the system to a point where it was working fine earlier.
Check this link for more info to achieve split screen - http://yhoo.it/2baherk
Also, try creating a local admin account and check if it works - http://bit.ly/1JoFhcw

So my Dad just got a new laptop, and it has this feature that allows you to use a second screen that you attach as a split screen (two screens displaying different things off one computer). I have also seen this on many newer model computers under the desktop settings. Can I do this on my older XP laptop? Does it pertain to just software, or hardware too? Do I just need to bite the bullet and get a new computer?

My father in law had me order him an HP Split 13 x2 PC from Best Buy.  I was going to set it up for him then take it to him  when I went to St. Louis for Christmas.  I unpacked it this weekend to begin the set up and the screen will not come on.  I had it plugged into the AC adapter and tried it plugged in and on battery.  I also tried it with the keyboard and without.  There seems to be power (wifi light and caps light come on), but nothing shows up on the screen.  I've tried powering off and on with the button on the back, but I feel a slight vibration from the screen, but nothing shows up.  Can you help?

Hi Eric90125,

I think the best thing to do would be to go to Best Buy and have them look at it. Not sure about the vibration in it.

Hope this goes well.
