KeePass Vs Sticky Password Free: Which (Offline) password manager do you prefer?

Q: KeePass Vs Sticky Password Free: Which (Offline) password manager do you prefer?

Which free offline password manager would you prefer (without cloud)?

I already use sticky password premium. Sticky password has improved its windows extensions with new graphical identifier for input fields. This has made it very easy to use and autofill works for all sites now.

But i want to know if KeePass is better, being a open-source & free. Does it's autofill works with every site?

Please share & help me decide.

Hi Everyone,

I have just had a new hard drive installed, after failure of the old one, and would not recommend it - its hellish!

I backed up my Keepass Password Manager, on an external disk, thinking I could just install it back on the new hard drive but no such luck!  As they are encrypted I now have no passwords.

Do I have to download a new one and would I then be able to download it?  Where is a safe place to download it from?

Also can I load my backup of "LizIanPC" back to a new hard drive and do I start in the Backup Centre or in the external hard drive.  I have not had the courage to try it yet - being a rather an elderly 'non-techie' .

Would be most grateful for any advice.

A:Keepass Password Manager - Can I get my Backup back?

You can download KeePass from its home site here: http://keepass.info/.  KeePass comes in 2.xx and 1.xx versions which are not interchangeable.  Make sure you download the same version as you had before.  After you install KeePass you can copy your database and settings over.

Can anybody recommend a really good free password manager? I tried Roboform recently, but it was more annoying than helpful. The Autofill on the Google Toolbar used to be perfect for me, but since I upgraded to IE 8 and Windows 7, it doesn't take care of my passwords anymore.

Any suggestions?

I am looking for a good password manager for my 7 yr old son. I have created his own personal home page with all his sites. Looking for one that will autofill the login information for him without him having to do anything, for his game playing sites. I have tried FireFox and IE built in passwor d manager and they work OK but not for certain sites that you click on the login link and a popup window appears for login credentials. I think one of them was Club Penguin or Millsberry

I just purchased a modest Toshiba laptop to replace my five year old HP laptop. Being new to W10, I am not impressed with and do not trust the use of a PIN rather than a sophisticated password.

The USB reader I bought for the Toshiba is an Eikon using Authentec driver. I dislike the apparent limitation of Windows Hello to only associate the fingerprint reader with the PIN. But my real issue is that this prevents my using the FP reader to also open my password program.

On my HP laptop, I have this capability with SimplePass. I actually attempted to install HP's SimplePass on the Toshiba, but it would not install.

Unless I'm overlooking a way to do this with W10, I'm looking for a utility that will store password(s) for use by the FP reader both for logon and accessing, at the minimum, my password program.

I do not wish to change the password for my password program to the Hello PIN just to achieve the dual function.

Any enlightenment and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Cyber criminals have started targeting the password managers that protect an individual's most sensitive credentials by using a keylogger to steal the master password in certain cases, according to research from data-protection company IBM Trusteer.
The research found that a configuration file, which attackers use to tailor the Citadel trojan for specific campaigns, had been modified to start up a keylogger when the user opened either Password Safe or KeePass, two open-source password managers. While malware has previously targeted the credentials stored in the password managers included in popular Web browsers, third-party password managers have typically not been targeted.
While the current impact of the attack is low, the implications of the attacker’s focus is that password managers will soon come under more widespread assault, Dana Tamir, director of enterprise security for IBM Trusteer, told Ars Technica.
“Once the malware captures this master key, then they can use that master key to exercise complete control over the machine and any of the user’s online accounts,” she said.

Hi,

If I enable Bitlocker with TPM (i.e. no passcode required on boot-up), and I have the Local Administrator account enabled on the machine (with my normal user account as a standard account), would it be possible for someone with a Hirens Boot CD blank/reset the Local Administrator account password and then gain access to the PC/Laptop using a tool such as this: Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor

Should I be enabling the PIN/Password protection on BitLocker, or does BitLocker prevent these sorts of tools from being used?

Thanks,

Gary

A:Bitlocker with TPM and Offline Password Editor

No. If the boot order is changed then it will prompt for your bitlocker password (the really long 25 digit one).

Secondly even if your bios was set to boot USB first the drive is encrypted so you couldn't do anything with it anyway without unlocking it first. I don't think Hirens has bitlocker support (only TrueCrypt) but even if you have bitlocker support you still need to unlock the drive.

Some boot USBs can unlock bitlocker drives automatically (like Adding BitLocker support to Windows PE - KnowledgeBase - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase) but you would have to make a conscious decision to do this and leave the USB where you saved the keys plugged in.

Everything else went exactly as described in the walkthrough, and then I get near the end...frustrating...Has anyone experienced this same prob? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

A:NT Offline Password & Reg Editor question

Hi -

Sorry. . . TSF Forum rules forbid help with password issues.

As you know, HKLM\SAM contains user information - including passwords.

I suggest that you use the OEM recovery DVDs, the recovery partition or order a new set of OEM DVDs to re-install Vista. If you cannot obtain an OEM version, you will need to purchase a full retail copy of Vista.

For some reason I thought it was a good idea to change my domain on both laptops that use active directory for login. I do not have the admin password so I have to reset it.

-One laptop has a CD ROM
-One laptop only has USB ports

I fixed one laptop with NT Offline Password Recovery because it has a CD ROM.

---

My problem is the other laptop only has USB ports; I tried booting from the flash drive with the same iso as the CD. This just makes the tool only see the flash drive as a file system and doesnt recognize my windows partition.
I also tried to trick my flash drive into thinking it was a floppy drive, and created the floppy image. I got a boot error because there is no floppy installed on this computer's bios.

Does anyone have experience with this issue? Or maybe have an alternate solution?

It is a downloadable program (preferably free) that you register an account to and whenever you login with your account and Password it will give you your Username and Password to whatever you fill in.

A:Password Manager

There are a few places where PW are stored. Since I'm not sure which one you are referring to, I will list them

1) For Windows Stored Application Passwords - Go To Your Control Panel, then Go into "Users". Choose a Username, then after you have selected a user, on the left side is a menu. Select "Manage My Network Passwords"

2) For Internet Explorer Passwords, Go to your Control Panel, then Select Internet Options. Then Select the Content Tab, then click on AutoComplete.

3) Or If it is a PW that is saved by a Cookie, delete your cookies. Go to your Control Panel, then Select Internet Options. General Tab, then click Delete Cookies.

Were one of those options what you needed?

OK- This is really driving me BONKERS! Something happened to my Password Manager. The passwords which used to come in automatically does not anymore! I have to put it in manually which my Password Manager used to control.

I'm using WINDOWS XP and my browser is Netscape 7.0(I also used Internet Explorer 6.0 to make sure it wasn't a browser problem and I got the same results).
In tools it shows that password manager is logged out. In the managed passwords section it shows all my passwords are still there. Out of 15 passwords 2 comes in automatically.

Someone has indicated to me that Password Manager is corrupted and has to be reloaded. Is that what I have to do? If so how do I do that? Also why is Password Manager shows I'm logged out? How can I log back in? I have tried every way possible to log back in but it doesn't give me that option. In preferences Managed Stored Passwords is checked so I know that is correct.

Any help would be appreciated!
