Getting Free Email on the Internet with no service provider

Q: Getting Free Email on the Internet with no service provider

Say a person does not want to pay a service provider anything. Is it possable
for that person to get an email address and use it. I thought that Juno had
a free email service that allowed someone to use e-mail without paying
a service provider but I am not sure. If it is so, is there any information
for that. Is there any other service that would provide absolutely free
email.
thank you,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We currently use aPlus to host our website and provide email services. For the past few months, we have been experiencing problems where we will send email (via Outlook) and everything looked good on our end only to find out the recipient did not receive the email. aPlus kept asking for the email header and I kept telling them sent mails don't have headers.

Has any one experience such a problem? This is causing us major problems.

Since they are so unresponsive, can someone recommend a web/email service provider?

Mikey,

You really need to define what "good secure email" means to you.   Clearly you don't wish to use any of "the big, free services" but beyond that it's very difficult for anyone to advise you accurately without knowing just how "tight" you want the security to be.

I've been using Gmail for several years since it was invite only. I love the interface and up-time.

However, I'm getting fed up with their data mining of my emails. I just don't like it anymore seeing every other Adsense had containing targeted info from my emails (call me paranoid).

Anyways, any good alternatives out there? I'm referring especially to the gmail interface and speed which I enjoy.

I've tried virtually every free alternative under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...mail_providers and most feel outdated compared to Gmail.

Was considering setting up my own email server, (rather renting one) but I haven't found a provider that provides such a neat interface as google.

So, other alternatives are paid route and I've been looking at Apple's MobileMe (officially 99$ per year, but I can find it for 45$ per year which is reasonable for 20gb of space).

It seems smooth and "professional", it's also nice getting an email with a nice short domain (@me.com).

Anyone have any experience in this area?

Note: for MobileMe, I don't user Address book, an iPhone, or any of the calender stuff. Same goes for my current Gmail accounts. Purely email usage.

I don`t want to change my ISP which is BT. I have been using BT Yahoo with Windows Mail more or less satisfactorily for some time but I have a new computer and have upgraded to Windows 7. I don`t like Windows Live Mail and am having trouble connecting this service to my present free BT Yahoo Account. In addition BT is severing connection with Yahoo and it is not at all clear what the result will be.

Windows Live Mail is refusing to send emails because of a problem with SSL connections. It doesn`t seem to make any difference whether I tick the boxes or not because SOME emails need SSL and some don`t.

My own feeling is best way out is to get a paid Yahoo account but I am not sure what will happen to my BT emails if I do that. I have copies of all the ones that matter on the backup Vista hard drive we took out of the computer so that is not too much of a problem provided I copy any recent emails that matter.

Could I still use the BT email address ? Most of the info on the web is for people who want to leave BT broadband. I share this connection with my husband and have no wish to change the ISP.

Can anyone explain my options ? I have just about got my head round the difference between an ISP, and Email Service Provider and an Email "Client" . I am interested in the Yahoo Paid Account because it would enable me to forward emails off the web based site and this seems more secure to me.

After a storm a couple of days ago, we lost all internet service. I contacted my ISP (over and over...) and have been told that their remote checks reveal that we ARE geting service.

All the lights on the cable modem are on. The operator was able to 'refresh' it remotely.

We have tried connecting two different laptops directly to the modem (bypassing the WIFI) with an ethernet cable, and neither was able to access the internet. We have tried with 5 wireless devices (after reconnecting the wireless router) and cannot access the internet; however, the wireless network DOES show up.

A windows 8 diagnostic indicated that the computer was getting no IP address.

The ISP is adamant that this is OUR problem. I will be happy to provide more details, but I am not a techie and don't know where to start. Can anyone please help?? My thought is that the modem is not working properly...

Thanks!

A:I have No Internet Service though my Provider says I do

Sure does sound like a modem problem.

Have you tried a long power cycle (unplug the modem for 30 minutes, then plug it back in) or a hard reset (see the modem manual)?  Do you own the modem or is it provided by the ISP?  If the ISP owns the modem, then insist they replace it.

I recently received a new wireless modem/router from my provider in Germany (I am an expat). My Vpn no longer works really, very slow which leads me to believe, (as well as picking up on a few things online) that "Telekom" provider has done something somehow to block or seriously slow down VPNs.

We need a bit more information.

Is it wireless or do you connect with a cable to your router.

What version of windows are you using.

Is this a laptop or desktop with a built in wireless card or are you using a dongle.

Please provide the make and model of the PC.

Apart from that you have started this thread in the section for introducing yourself, it should be in Storage and Networking.

Hello All,

I share an internet connection with 4 other people. We currently have Rogers Ultimate - 50 Mbs up/ 2 Mbs down. We use Rogers built in wireless/modem all in one. Some people are wireless others wired.

When there is no one on the network other than me, I can get speeds of 50 Mbs (speedtest.net)

But when more people connect it can drop to as low as 0-5 Mbs with no P2P/streams/downloads running on their computer.

I have a feeling that it could be an issue with the router. Is there a possibility that by them just being connected to the network, our bandwidth speeds drop? Does it matter the type of router we use?

When people do use P2P, streams etc will it use up all the bandwidth it possibly can or only what it needs? I am wondering because it feels like that when I run my P2P clients, my internet is the same weather its 20Mbs or 50Mbs.

Thanks for all the help!!!!

A:Internet Bandwidth Issue - router? service provider?

No, just being connected would not cause this, unless these people have viruses. P2P is a problem because most ISPs monitor it, and the ISP itself might be cutting you down for participating. But in general Im thinking either someone is hiding something, someone has a virus, or your ISP has caught on.

Now, here's the question. Will the owners of the website I visit be able to see that I am still the same person? If I were to manually change my IP, it would still show all the ip addresses that have been used under the one account. But, with the new provider will the new IP address still be linked with the old one?

I thought I would try to come into the current century and maybe switch my internet service provider from the one I signed up for in 1992 (wow, the Internet was available way back then . . . ?).

As I begin to shop around, I got to wondering, if I allow my current provider service to lapse, will I still have access to my current email address or will I need to change? I guess I've heard differing opinions on this. It seems unreasonable for my provider to maintain my account, since those inbound/outbound message (or maybe just the inbound ones) reside on the provider's server, until I access them, right? Alternately, it almost seems like more trouble to close that email account, than to just leave it, on the hopes that the customer might return one day.

Clearly, I don't want to continue to pay for two providers, and one just to maintain my existing email address. What's the definitive word on that?

A:Changing Internet Provider - Email Address Cancelled?

The definitive word is that it depends. AOL, for example, now allows you to keep your email address. With most ISPs, maybe all other ones, your email, web site, etc., are gone the day you stop paying.

I registered my domain with 123-reg which provided a free mailbox 2 years ago. Come renewal time, I am told that the mailboxes will no longer be free and need to pay ?12 per annum for 1GB. I understand that gmail and outlook used to offer a way of linking personal email addresses for free. So before I part with my cash, do any of you gurus know of any other free/cheaper service I could use to link my personal email addresses to?

I would like the service to provide IMAP, as that's how I sync my mail with Thunderbird and AppleMail. I did try Outlook, but I need to use their web interface for emails to be sent as my personal email address set as an alias. Through Thunderbird, it sends as the Outlook address.

On a slightly separate note....with IMAP, if I reach the capacity of my mailbox and purge some emails, will they remain in my offline email client?

Thanks in advance!

What is the best FREE alternative to Bigfoot's email-forwarding service? I have been having inordinate problems with Bigfoot recently i.e. I have not been receiving any! emails to my Bigfoot e.a.'s

I have read at this forum that www.pobox.com is recommended. But when I looked at https://www.pobox.com/signup, it only appears to offer a free TRIAL. Is pobox.com ever ENTIRELY free, at all?! I don't like free-trials - it's far too much hassle signing up with all that personal data/details, for the limited free usage that the user then gets!

I am looking into Gmail. But does anybody perhaps recommend www.mail.com, that I also found online. Or perhaps another free webmail/email-forwarding service, that I've yet to hear of!

I am not keen on Hotmail: I do not like having to log in "every 270days" as MSN Hotmail now seriously require the user to do - it's such a hassle, & I have recently forgotten to do so ... only to find that MSN had, indeed, therefore completely deactivated that email address!

Any ideas?

Sorry about posting in this forum, I see no suitable forum and therefore I may as well post in the busiest.
I am looking for an email provider which allows both filtering by keywords in the message body and also has email forwarding.
This is because I am trying to filter out spam emails from one email address however the email provider (hotmail) cannot filter by message body.

Therefore I will need to forward emails to this new email address (by another provider which I need suggestions of) and have these emails filtered by message body and forwarded back to the original email address. I know that all email incoming from this new email address will be filtered emails and hence can set a rule to redirect them to another folder.

I have tried yandex which is the only I have found which claims to offer these facilities but no emails appear to be appearing in the inbox.

I'd like to cancel an underutilized dedicated fax line.

Does anyone know if there is a FREE service that will:

1. Allow people to send me faxes to either a local (my local area) or a toll free number and

2. Forward the fax to me by email (POP3 preferable but web based would be OK).

I've Googled and there are tons of fax services, some pay, some claim to be free.

I wouldn't mind an ad supported service as long as it's on my end and not on the sender's end.

I prefer actual user reviews to internet ads. I'd need a reliable service that isn't going to fold next week.

Hi,

I want to use the IPTV technology to transmit some channels. Therefore I consider to become full service provider. For my purpose I see possibilities in the market.

However I am not computer engineer, so, it is quite difficult to make some more progress

Can someone suggest me something about this, maybe there are companies that can help a lot, like selling a complete servers for service providers.

Second question is can I transmit by using servers about 5Mbps to downloaders ( the users should not notice it too much in the sense they should have enough bandwidth for other things , e.g. when someone has 30 Mbps for downloading) .

A:Service Provider

You want to look at companies that sell dedicated servers. Basically, you rent the server, put whatever applications you want on it, and they provide the data center and Tier I Internet connection. Optionally, you can go with a colocation provider. It's very similar, except you provide the servers, which you put in a partial rack (meaning you're buying rackmount servers) or cage at their data center. This does require you to be close to the data center, since they won't touch your servers for any reason unless you pay them (it's know as "remote hands"), and then only to reset, power cycle, or plug/unplug something. If you rent a server, it data center could be located anywhere in the world since you will only access it remotely.

The big cost is going to be bandwidth. IPTV is a very bandwidth-intensive service, and in either case, you pay for every data packet received or transmitted from the server. The total bandwidth required is equal the number of concurrent downloaders. If ten people are downloading at 5Mbps, you are feeding 50Mbps. If a hundred people are downloading at 5Mbps, you are feeding at 500Mbps.

I am looking for a good ISP in the UK. I am on NTL at the moment and their dial up service is very very slow. I do not want the expense of broadband. All the ISPs I look at require a BT line. Are there any good ISPs out there that offer a (12.99 per month approx) dial up service through NTL?

Thanks

Simon

Hello, All:

I am looking for a free email provider that is independant from my current one in case I have to move out of their service area. I do not want to do any captchas every time I want to send an email or to receive one. That gets old very quickly. I also do not want one that is always down or slow.

Does anyone know of one? I have to get one or I will be yelled at.

A:Free E-mail Provider

You have all sorts of choices for a reliable E-mail provider: Yahoo, MSN, or Google all have Email services at no cost. Gmail also has free POP functionality that works with Outlook Express or Thunderbird.

What free web site provider do people think is the best, and why? (In terms of features like counters and guestbooks, space, minimizing pop-up advertising, legal affairs, etc.)

A:What's the best free web site provider?

I have a Tripod account from a couple of years back - and I have had no real problems from them.

I dislike the way that a popup banner appears when you access the homepage - but then again - the webspace is free, so how can i complain?!

Hi All,
Can somebody please advise why Limelight Networks would be continuously uploading data to my PC?
So far, the company has used nearly 2 Gb of my bandwidth, and there doesn't appear to be anything to show for it.
This has only been occuring since my update to Windows 10 from Win 7 Ultimate.
Thanks.

A:Ongoing upload from a service provider to my PC

You might want to;
1. Go to settings
2. Go to update and security
3. Go to advanced options
4.Go to choose how updates are delivered
5. Shut off updates from more than one place
6. Make sure only PCs on my local network is checked and not PCs on the internet

This should help you.

Hi,TL;DR;As much as I love Lenovo computers, and use them for professional use for the past 5-6 years and buy them for all my employees, I won?t ever buy a Lenovo in Israel (and of course wont suggest it anymore) as long as the service provider stays "CPM computer services" , as they are simply useless, and I actually lost money because of their inability to give service. The longer version:I want to make a complaint about your Israel warranty service provider  - CPM computer services.I bought a 520S ideapad (with i7 processor) from an official local supplier (KSP israel) which I'm familiar with and trust, after a few weeks the laptop stopped booting and I couldn't start it (happens, I know, I didn?t panic..)As the computer was a few weeks old I've contacted the official service provider CPM which picked up the computer after a few days, and sent me an email that the computer was received.Since that moment I haven't heard from them for almost a month, until I contacted them just to hear they are still "working on it"I've been calling them each week since then, to find out they don?t know what is the problem - so finally I've convinced them to supply me a new computer, so they offered me a new idea pad with a worse spec than the one I had, and couldn't understand why I rejected their "generous" offer. After a week or so, they decided to give me a full refund, which I'm still waiting for after another month (3'rd month without a computer).the bo...
