PC running really slow Hijackthis Log

Q: PC running really slow Hijackthis Log

Computer running very slow, it act like something is running in the background all the time but I don't really know what it could be.
at one time I did have a blue screen after I deleted internet temp files there was so many files to delete, I think I over worked my computer, later on I did get the computer to working again
I ran adaware and spybot they found nothing. I deleted all temp files, removed some data thinking the hard drive was too full. uninstalled some programs I don't use anylonger, and after all that the computer still runs very very slow all the time.

Do I have too many processes running could this be the problem and if so witch one do I delete?
Thank You for your help

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Good morning. I need some help--- My pc has been so slow when it comes to downloading pages into my browser, IE7. I am using Peoplepc for dialup and have Panda software. Panda finds no viruses. The slowness came before I downloaded IE7--- thought it would be faster, but no! Today it takes literally minutes to simply go to yahoo.com! Or anything! So I thought I'd better do a hujack this, and as you guys, the experts, for some help! I was wondering if a BHO is the problem--- I see one listed under the google toolbar helper and it has No Name. Could that be the problem? I am not a newbie, yet not an expert either, I'm kinda inbetween, so if you see a problem, please help me out. I sure would appreciate it! I just can't sit here waiting 5 minutes or more for these webpages to load--- I'm pulling out my hair and my husband is starting to complain about the PC too. Thanks, you guys! ~Molly

Just started having problems this morning when I turned on the PC. The first 5 minutes runs smooth and then everything starts to freeze up and run slow. I am in safe mode now and everything is running smoothly and I was able to run virus scans and I found 1 trojan and removed it. Here is my log, can anyone point out anything else that shouldn't be here (other than BitTorrent, I use this for business purposes and I know it could cause problems.)

A:Computer running VERY VERY SLOW... HIJACKTHIS LOG... plz help

I'm having the same problem you are zz. Go to your system info and see how much RAM is being recognized by your computer. Also, go into your BIOS on startup and see what it reads on "system memory". I am currently having the same problem. Talked to Dell and they are sending me a new motherboard and techinician but I don't know if that's the problem. I was sent two new stick's of memory but that wasn't the problem. It's showing I only have 64 instead of 256.

I had lovgate.x and downloader-er viruses so I don't know if it's still having an effect on that or not.

If anyone can help us with this problem it'd be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully someone can help. I have been given my sisters laptop to check over as i'm the most technical minded in the family (but still very basic knowledge). I had AVG Free and Zone alarm installed but I think my sister had removed them. I have reinstalled both, ran the scans, installed and ran adaware se and spybot search and destroy with no major issues. The main problem is that everything is running extremely slow. From starting up to running IE (which is the most the machine really does) it takes much longer than it used to to work.

I have attached a HijackThis log below. I would be grateful for any help.

Hi everybody, I've got win xp, recently it is running very slowly especially when I try to get on the internet. I am attaching hicjackthis log, are there any obvious problems, I have a hunch that there are some programs which I don't use which slow down the system. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello there and welcome to Bleeping Computer's security forum. My name is David, I will be helping you with your log today. It is a good idea to print off these instructions. There is a possibility some of the instructions will need to be carried out where internet access is not available.A print out of the instructions would be a good reference to make sure you don't yet lost. Also, it is important that you complete the instructions in the right order, and that you don't miss out any steps. If you have any queries about the process or just general questions, just ask. Please set your system to show all files. Click Start, open My Computer, select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file typesUncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.Click Yes to confirm.I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to create "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause false al... Read more

My computer has been running slow for a few days. I haven't installed anything new but I do download files all the time.

When I browse folders on my harddrive, the flashlight often comes up and it takes awhile to view files. Also, there is a problem watching video (audio/video is out of sync) in Windows Media Player and VLC. The other thing I've never seen before is when I open a program (like Hijack This) I sometimes get a message saying something like ""This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy" and there's a button to "switch to" the program.

I've restored my computer to a point a month ago, ran adware/spyware, defragmented my harddrive, checked the Device Manager and there are no conflicts.

My computer:
Dell Dimension 4700

Hi

My Packard Bell desktop (2.6GHz 704RAM) is running very slow all of a sudden the last couple of weeks. When I say slow, its taking a minute or more to open browser page (although can surf ok then), but programs are hanging and there is somethign badly wrong somewhere..

I did not install any new software or any hardware, it just became slow all of a sudden.

To diagnose I have tried the following and made no difference:

1. Full Scan with Malwarebytes (showed up 2 threats which I removed)
2. Full Scan with Sbybot (didnt show up anything)
3. Full Scan with CCleaner
4. Ran TCP/IP Optimiser
5. Ran Defrag (did not require it)
6. Deleted all Temp folder files
7. System restored to date before problem happened
8. Ran Disc Check on C drive (fixed 2 bad sectors)
9. Checked Device Manager for Hardware issues (none)
10. Ran MSConfig (disabled couple of startup items which were using memory)
11. In Task Manager two programs were showing high memory and CPU usage: (a)SVCHOST.exe (got a .bat file on web which fixed this)
(b)AVP.exe (was using up to 98% CPU. Web search tells its aparentely related to Kaspersky, which is installed. Tried disabling Application Integrity Control but didnt help)
12. Ran Registry Booster (showed up lots of problems but wanted me to buy software to remove, looked like scam so I didnt)
13. Used HijackThis to take scan and generate log file (I am attaching this)

I would really appreciate anyones input on th... Read more

A:Laptop running slow, can anyone see anything that needs correcting? (Hijackthis log)

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Yes, there are some signs of adware in the log. However, HijackThis is not sufficient and therefore not the initial analysis tool in this forum.

We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link given below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a
Quote:

Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? First Steps

link at the top of each page.

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...lp-305963.html

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here...Normally I never have any troubles with my computer and when i have, i use ad-aware to scan and solve the problem...

Now, since yesterday, it looks like my bandwith gets "stolen"...Because internet was working slowly, I installed DU-meter to check if there was bandwidth use through my computer. I noticed that sometimes, even after closing ALL applications, internet windows,... there is an upload traffic of 58-160 kbps (7-20 KB/s) and a similiar download traffic...
I'm using a normal router => ethernet connection (no wireless)

I made a hijackthis log and found/removed some threats, scanned with ad-aware, windows defender, Malwarebyte's anti-malware and AVG free antivirus, (safe mode, restore points OFF) cleared some more threads with them, but the problem is still there...For the rest there are NO problems whatsoever, only my abnormal bandwith usage...

Here is the hijackthis log:

Thanks for any help. I have a dell desktop that runs horribly. Extended boot times taking up to 5 mins, constant hard drive access, even when relatively dormant. Brought in to Best Buy for assessment & repair. Paperwork indicated multiple virus and trojan infection removed. Run AVG 2011, windows firewall and scan weekly with MalwareBytes and SpybotS&D. Performance of system improved for week after BestBuy services, but has reverted back to previous lousy performance. Suspect children accessing game site that may be compromising system, but scans not showing any viruses or trojans. See large number (15-20) of "mshta" processes running after system has been on for an afternoon. HiJackThis logs follow. Can anyone assist in interpreting this information and make recommendations as to possible remediation?

The computer that i am running is deadly slow. i got attacked by pop ups a few weeks ago and ever since then, my computer has been running very very slowly to the extent where it is freezing every few moments. I downloaded spybot (adaware didn't download) and ran that and removed everything it showed. However the computer is still running horribly slow. the little computer icon shows 27 million bytes sent and only 9 million recieved and even when the internet is on but not active the computer is still sending lots of information. I dont run kazaa or anthing like that.

I also ran CWshreder and got ris of everything it showed as well as spywareblaster

The internet is very slow to run and a simple task like typing this out has made it freeze four times.
It runs windows 98, 32mb ram and my hijack this log is shown below. Before you think that the problem is ram the computer was running fine at a normal speed without freezing before the spyware arrived. If somebody knows how i can return my computer to normal speed i would be very grateful.

There is nothing bad in your log.....but you should run your A/V at all times.

My computer has been freezing up without much of anything running. I usually only have firefox open with facebook and this mostly happens in the battery saving power option. This did not happen when I first bought the laptop. I usually have to put my laptop on the highest power setting to avoid problems. My laptop doesn't seem to freeze as frequently after AVG put a file into the virus vault but it still happens. Can this just be my from the speed lost due to the lower power setting?
When I run hijackthis, a window opens stating that, "For some reason your system denied write access to the host file." I don't get this when I run hijackthis in safe mode. There are a lot of 023 entries that have @, unknown owner, and (file missing), and I have read that it is unusual for a legit file to contain these. Any way that I can get hijackthis to write to a host file? I'll post a hijackthis log upon request.

System:
Asus N35SV-A1 Windows 7 64-bit SP1.

A:Computer running slow, hijackthis problems

I found the reason for the hijackthis warning. I wasn't running it as an administrator. The shortcut on my desktop doesn't list that option.

A:Machine Running Slow - Hijackthis Log Attached

Our apology for the delay in responding. The workload on this forum is intense, and sometimes it is not possible to respond to every inquiry. The version of HijackThis you are running is Beta, a product that is normally in its final stages of testing. Often, a Beta version of a product may contain minor bugs, so let?s work with final version 1.99.1 instead.Use Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to remove HijackThis v2. Then, do a search and also delete any Folders or Files the program created.Next, install HijackThis v1.99.1:http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HJTsetup.exeIt installs to its own foder (C:\Program Files\HijackThis), makes an entry in the Start Menu, and also provides a Desktop shortcut: Click on the link Select: SaveSave the program to the Desktop Double click HJTsetup.exeFollow the promptsNext, when HijackThis opens, select: Do a system scan and save a log file. When the scan is finished, please provide the contents of the HijackThis log in your reply.
