Hi there, I've just purchased a X230 from a friend. I had not noticed the moment I took it, but the wifi LED is not working on my laptop. The wifi is working well but not the led. My X230 is working under Debian/GNU Linux, but it does not work with Windows too. I have tried to install a WWAN module from a X220 and got the Unauthorized network card error. Maybe something went wrong at that moment I don't know. I have just updated the BIOS to the 2.62 version but no change. Any idea ?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Please notice that x230's wireless network status LED indicator is combined to one which is different from older ThinkPads. There's only one indicator looks like a WIFI icon for all wireless communications - WLAN/WWAN/Bluetooth/WiMAX, which means any one of them is on, the indicator is on, and all of them are shutdown, the indicator becomes off. So, if you are familiar with older ThinkPads, you may be confused.
Read other 2 answersHi, I have an X230 running windows 10 64 bit. I have a problem where the wifi stops working randomly and the only solution seems to be restarting the computer. I have seen many similar forum posts regarding various lenovo models and I have tried the suggested solutions including updating the driver and turning off the power managment's ability to shut off the wifi module. None of them have seemed to work. It appears that there are newer drivers available but windows insists that it has the newest and best driver and even if I uninstall and delete the older drivers, windows defaults back to them.I switched out the wifi module with a newer, supposedly oem module which is on the lenovo whitelist for this model (intel ultimate-n 6300agn) and I have the same behaviour. Thanks

Read other answersSo the past couple of days I have noticed that the touch screen on my laptop hasn't been working like it use to. I'll be writing notes or homework in tablet mode or I'll be swiping in normal mode and about half of my writing, taps or swipes won't be recognized. It's really frustrating especially since it causes me to miss some notes in class. I have tried restarting it and that hasn't helped. I did factory reset it a few weeks ago, but I made sure to fix all my settings and calibrate everything after I did that. The touch screen was also working perfectly fine just last week. It just started happening after booting up one day. Does anyone know what I could do to fix this? I would send it in, but my warranty expired a few months ago.

Read other answersHi everyoneI'm in a bit of a pickle. My old keyboard on my x230 (running win10 pro) was utterly worn out so I decided to replace it which is easy enough. However now the mouse buttons for the trackpoint are not working. The trackpad and the trackpoint itself along with the rest of the board work "flawlessly" but not the three buttons for the trackpoint. I'v tried removing and reinstalling the Synaptic drivers, both the newest version and an older one recomended on a different forum. I have triple double checked the board connection is firmly attached and that all the settings in both BIOS and the synaptic panel are set as normal but still no luck. Any help or advice to solve this would be greatly appriciated.

Read other answersHi,I am suspecting a hardware failure, but wanted to check the forums first anyway.I have an X230 Tablet running Windows 8.1 Update. Fingerprint software 6.0. Was working fine (i.e. swipe to power on and log on to Windows and the Lenovo Password Mgr) until this morning. No more green light on the sensor, no function. Windows says that the fingerprint sensor is not available. It was still showing up in Device Manager, I uninstalled it as part of some troubleshooting and it's not being detected anymore now.Any ideas other than hardware? Thanks,SA.
It sounds like hardware failure but try one more thing:
Reboot into BIOS setup (by pressing F1 at the ThinkPad logo screen).
Go to the security -> fingerprint menu.
There's an option about clearing the fingerprint sensor storage (or something like that).
What happens?
Hi everyone, Last night I updates the camera and smart card drivers from Lenvo website. Immediately after the update, the camera simply stopped working. I have tried multiple things since then, including uninstalling and re-installing the driver multiple times, trying to change the driver defaul USB Video Device, etc. But now I can't even see the camera listed in the Device Manager even after checking the Show Hidden Devices option. Let me know if someone has any idea what to do about this. Thanks!

I have a Yoga 2 Pro and the WiFi card seems to disappear completely and I can't get it back without removing all the batteries and leaving it a while. It's not like it needs a driver update, it totally disappears as if it's not even installed and won't show up in any OS or even under the "rfkill list command". It appears to be completely failing. Thing is I've swapped it out and it seems to be some part of the operation that mounts it that isn't working. I notice that it installs into the power board and not the motherboard. Would swapping this fix it? Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi there! I would lik e to inquire on how can I fix my laptop. I can't connect to the wifi network. Plus I can't upgrade the driver because the driver isn't showing in device manager. Plus, my track pad is also not working. Help please. Thank you in Advance
Hi First of all there is an option in Device Manager; VIEW; Show hidden devices The faint entries are hidden, like my Zyxel G202 because it is disconnected. Also.... As an adminstrator, in a Command Prompt Window, typegetmacThis will list MAC addresses for those items that are present, and may not be connected.A good number would be 3,1 x Ethernet1 x Wi-Fi1 x Bluetoothand then typeipconfigand in the long list look for named devices have a matching MAC address.Along with Device manager this is a way to determine the number of devices. additionally type netsh wlan show driversnetsh wlan show interfaces and report the results please.

Hey guys, I bought this Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 about a month ago, and have had no problems with it until about 3 days ago when the wifi internet got really slow and would cut out with in a minute or two of working. I've tried browsing through this forum, but the solutions that seemed to work for others have not worked for me. If anyone has experienced this or knows of a solution please let me know. Thank you!

I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:
1. Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.
After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on. Any help is appreciated.
Hahaahahaha don't look at the other tab
Why are you booting into safe mode? I would connect a network cable to the wired network port, if possible for you. In regular windows, not safe mode, right click on the 802.11ac network controller and uninstall. Right click on the top device manager entry for the computer itself and select scan for new hardware.

A few days ago my internet suddenly stopped working. I plugged in the ethernet cord and everything worked fine. Checking the properties in the device manager showed the device was working properly, I also tried resetting it to make sure it was enabled but it did not work.
Upon troubleshooting, the "Windows Network Diagnostic" said the problems was that the Wireless adapter was not turned on. Using the switch on the front of the laptop as well as the function keys does nothing. Usually a graphic pops up showing if the WiFi is on or off, changinging transparent to show the WiFi is disabled. Now when I turn the switch on it always appears transparent, effectively going from off to off
So I know the computer reads both the function keys and the switch on the front but both methods never actually turns the adapter on. I just finished a system restore and nothing has changed
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Maybe the switch or adapter is defective. Some other ideas ...
Do you have an ASUS utility to also turn the wireless on/off? (I have an HP utility on one of my laptops that will individually control the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth if the physical switch is on.)
In Device Manager right click on the adapter - Properties - Advanced tab. Sometimes there is a Property in there that allows turning the adapter on/off.
If the card is easily accessible through a cover on the laptop's bottom remove and carefully and firmly replace the card several times to fix any potential looseness or corrosion problems.

Hi,
I have a PC connected to a smc router (smc networks wbr14-g2) I have my internet modem connected to this router so I can have a strong wifi connection (my internet modem is pretty far away).
I configured the wifi signal, I added a WEP key, etc. Now I can connect my smartphone easily and has a strong internet connection, but my PC doesn't, it recognizes the signal, it connects to it, but it tells me that I have no internet access.
It seems strange to me that my smartphone can connect to internet, even play netflix, but my PC can't.
Any tips?
I have windows 7 operating system.
Thanks

Just got a Dell Mini 1010, Win. Help!
Lets take a peek at your network environment:
Please Download and run this Xirrus WiFi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework.
To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here. For Vista and Windows 7, 8 you can use the Windows Snipping Tool

In looking at the SUPPORT PAGE for that model, this warning pops up. HP has not tested this product for upgrade to Windows 10 and will not be developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If the switch to Windows 10 was working and now it is not, it is common for a Windows 10 update to cause issues. It most likely is a driver issue, either way. Look for the Hardware ID for the WiFi adapter in Device manager and then use the manufacturer's driver for Windows 10.

AZHAGSTROM ,
Unfortunately, you will need a Windows 10 driver for the wireless card and there are no Windows 10 drivers for this computer through Dell.
Product not tested for Windows 10 upgrade
Dell is not testing or developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected.

I moved you to Networking from Web & Email.
Are you saying that you have internet access through the router when using ethernet but via Wi-Fi? And the wireless problem is with multiple devices that used to work?
Reset the router to factory settings and reconfigure it, but leave the wireless unsecured until you get success.
While connected by both wireless and ethernet ...
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)
Type the following command:
IPCONFIG /ALL
[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

So it's kinda of a weird issue but I promise you it's true. I have a WIFI connection and can happily get onto websites such as this one, Youtube and all the rest on my browser although in trying to solve this I found out I can't ping anything (I have windows 8, I just used cmd 'ping 4.2.2.2' and 'ping www.yahoo.com'. It says "request timed out." I also cannot connect to servers for example 'Steam' (Which you probably will have heard of). It always launches in offline mode meaning it can't connect to the steam servers(and no, the problem does not lie within steam. None of my games can connect to servers) Also, I share this WIFI and the person sharing it with me has the same problem. Any ideas ?
