Unable to configure WinRM on domain user

Q: Unable to configure WinRM on domain user

Hi everyone,
I'm unable to configure WinRM on a domain computer. I have a simple domain with

1) Windows server 2012
2) A client running Windows 7

If I try to run WinRM on the local Administrator, everything works fine, but if I switch to a domain user, than problems occured.

For example, if i run winrm quickconfig in powershell as the domain Administrator, then I get:

WinRM already is set up to receive requests on this machine.
WSManFault
Message = WinRM cannot process the request. The following error occured while using Negotiate authentication: An unknown security error occurred.
Possible causes are:
-The user name or password specified are invalid.
-Kerberos is used when no authentication method and no user name are specified.
-Kerberos accepts domain user names, but not local user names.
-The Service Principal Name (SPN) for the remote computer name and port does not exist.
-The client and remote computers are in different domains and there is no trust between the two domains.
After checking for the above issues, try the following:
-Check the Event Viewer for events related to authentication.
-Change the authentication method; add the destination computer to the WinRM TrustedHosts configuration setting or use
HTTPS transport.
Note that computers in the TrustedHosts list might not be authenticated.
-For more information about WinRM configuration, run the following command: winrm help config.

Error number: -2144108387 0x8033809D
An unknown security error occurred.

When i run it as local admin, everything goes well.

So, what am I missing?

Preferred Solution: Unable to configure WinRM on domain user

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I can open https://ata.domain.com from the DC without any issue and the Port required for the communication is open.
There is no error in Application or system logs on DC or ATA server.
Center error logs in ATA is also not pointing to any error.

hi,

Is it possible to give the domain users the option of adjusting the settings of Modems using telephon.cpl in Control Panel themselves? Currently if a normal users runs Telephone and Modem Settings in Control Panel then under Modems the buttons are greyed out. How can I as admin activate those buttons for them so they can call the modem properties and adjust them for their own needs?

thanx

Edit: edit: I have already checked the User/Group Policies using mmc but have not found any option to activate them.

Hi,
I am trying to connect remotely to WinRM to enumerate Win32_Computersystem over HTTP.
I have my HTTP listener set on the windows 2008 machine
Initially i was using a local user to connect , but the connection failed.
The issue was with UAC,to resolve this i added the registrykey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\system\LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy with
value set to 1 .
When i use a domain user, i am unable to connect to the same.
I queried the SPN via setspn -l <hostname> and found the following results,
WSMAN/<shortname>
WSMAN/<fully qualified domain name>
Is there any other configuration that needs to be done?

Hello everyone,

We are running into a somewhat peculiar issue that I have been unable to find any information about and I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.

Several of our Windows 7 laptops (We're working on moving to W10) have become unable to change the password for a domain account from the Change a Password screen after hitting CTRL ALT DEL. Usually when someone would select to change their password,
it would take them to the text boxes with the domain\username pre-populated, I'm sure you are familiar.

Recently, when following the same steps, an account selection screen comes up with the option to use a smart card or simply type in the username. While we are working on implementing smart cards, they are not yet in use and in fact should not even
show any options for them yet. After opting to type in a user account, rather than populating the username field with domain\username, the field remains blank with grey text saying "provider\user name" instead. If the user types in their domain\username
and attempts to change the password, they get a generic error stating it is unable to change the password.

Users are still able to use a co-workers machine to change their password from the same screen by substituting the username. Most of the affected machines are from users that work in the same team, even though those same users can change their passwords
elsewhere just fine. It appears to be isolated to specific ... Read more

I wrote a PS script to get MAC address of remote Win 8.1 computers and it's working fine on my test lab, but not on the actual production computers. The problem is that on real computers, I get WinRM error, and looks like WinRM QuickConfig is fixing the
issue.
Now trying to use PSExec to run WinRM QuickConfig on a list of remote computers, before I run the PS script, I get Windows Admin Share not configured error.
I found some info about enabling WinRM and/or PS Remote through GPO, but my target computers are spread all across the domain and we don't want to enable WinRM and/or PS Remote domain wide.
The famous LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy and disabling UAC didn't work either (although if it did, I'd need to use GPO)
Does anyone know a better and more solid solution other than above stuff? I'm looking to include something in my PS script or run another script before this to enable stuff that I need to get MAC address and rename PC to MAC address.

User cannot access their domain this is what they get when they do ipconfig/all:

Hostname:computer1

Default gateway:
IP Address:169.254.0.50
Description:Netgear Fast Ethernet Adapter
Physical Address:00-a0-cc-5f-73-91
what is the problem, is it because the APIPA is a class B and the DNS is a class A. Does the APIPA cause the DNS to not work?

A:A user's computer is unable to access their domain.

Can they ping the DNS server? The gateway is not defined. Where is the DNS in relation to the network? What type of network connection? Can they get to the internet? More info please.

Hi All,
Im facing a wierd problem regarding "users management" in a domain.
User profile on node was created by running login script from the domain (Domain Win2000 and Node Win XP) when node was connected to domain.
When i delete the user account thru "Document and Settings" or thru "User Profiles in advanced tab in System Properties", it does not delete user account completely.
Even though after i delete the user account it does not show up anywhere, but when i try to login with deleted user name it let me login and then create it at appropriate location.(No matter the node is conected to domain or not)

I tried the whole procedure with disconnected node as well connected.
It's not working out.
Is there any other location where XP stores the login info (i kno a little about sam log file, but don't know wht to do with that)
Also tried deleting thru Registry Keys. No go.

I'll really appreciate if any of you guys could help me out with this problem.
In case u have any clue please email it to me at "[email protected]" or try to chat with me at "[email protected]" or [email protected]"

Thanking in anticipation

I set up a local user account on a company laptop that was to be used for employees who needed a lap top temporarily. I later added the laptop to the domain so that users could also use their company credentials. However after putting the computer on the domain, the local guest user account doesn't work. I went in as an admin and played with the account, it is still there and nothing has been disabled. When logging in I insert the computer-name/guest and it claims the password or domain is wrong? I just set the password and the local computer domain name is right here in front of me nothing has been inserted wrong. Is this an issue that need's to be addressed in group policy (which I need to go to someone else for) or can I solve this on the local machine? Microsoft really needs to patch these domain issues or they need to give Windows Seven log in options the flexibility XP had. Just saying

A:Laptop unable to log into local user after I added it to the domain

Hi there,

To log on locally try Computer Name\User Name. If still didn't help try creating a new User Name from Computer Management (see attached image) and see if it helps. I have switched back and forth many times between domain and local and I never experienced an issue logging on either way.

We have several user profiles that we would like to delete when setting up Windows 7 images so that old users do not have their folders stored on the new images. However, after manually deleting the folders under C:\Users and then
locating their keys in the registry and deleting those, the users' folders return immediately after any of our computers that we try this on gets rebooted.

Is there another step that we're missing? I've been searching around online and have been unable to locate any solutions. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think the right way to delete a profile would be Right click on My computer -> Properties -> Advanced System settings -> Advanced -> user profiles -> settings. Here you can select the required profile and then delete it.Janaki Hariharan

Hello,
Currently we are in the middle of a migration project. We are migrating users from child domains to the root domain of one organization.
The user accounts are migrated with powershell using Move-ADObject cmdlet. This works as expected. The SIDHistory attribute is updated correctly.
Recently we received complaints from some *migrated* users - they lost their default/custom file associations. This happens only on Windows 8/Windows 8.1.
What happens:

the user is migrated and logs onher profile loads and everything's preserved (as expected)the user clicks on a .jpeg file (previously associated with program XYZ)OS asks the user to choose a program to open the file withthe user chooses a default program XYZ and the file openswhen the user clicks on a .jpeg file again - OS asks to choose a program again
i.e. the settings are not preserved.

Our investigation shows that it is connected with the UserChoice registry key and the HASH value under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.SomeExt

According to this blog
the HASH is calculated based on user's SID. But after the migration the user has new SID and the HASH becomes invalid and we hit this:
"However In Win 8, the registry changes are verified by a hash (unique per user and app)  that detects tampering by apps. In the absence of a valid hash, we ignore the default in the registry."

fns should read dns in title...
I am about to loose my website space which my internet provider supplied including my domaine name & the associated linking. I just cannot figure out how to setup another "supplier". Our phone company (Bell) decided to terminate that service. I have a site that gives me the linking from my domain name to my "real" email address. But with all the technical issues associated with the linking etc I'm lost! Is there somewhere I can go to learn the ins & outs of changing dns so my domain name gets linked correctly and ends up in my mailbox. The variables associated with this just blows my mind. I've used a domaine name for 20 years or more but never had to "mess" very much with it... Help please!

A:How to configure web site domain name linking & fns etc!

Yeah it can be tricky to setup email forwarding right. Have a look at FreeDNS - http://freedns.afraid.org/. That service may help you.

Also check out this article on how to use outlook.com to host your domain email
http://betanews.com/2013/08/26/how-to-use-outlook-com-as-a-free-custom-domain-email-host/

There's google apps, it used to be free, but now costs $5/mth, which still isn't too bad

And just doing a quick google, I found this site which has some more suggestions.

Tried to unjoin and rejoin to the domain no luck.

This is a Windows 7 machine for a Linux guru that doesn't want to be bothered pressing more buttons than is necessary, if you get my drift.

So my question is, after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del...how do I dictate to Windows that the preferred used is "HisDomainAccount" on our company domain, as opposed to the local admin account?

If I'm not being clear, please let me know and I will try to explain a little better.

The above is a bit confusing. Is this computer joined to a work domain or is it not?

If this is a domain computer, the user will have to use the classic log on screen (Ctrl+Alt+Delete), not the Welcome Screen. If he wants to switch to logging in to the Local computer account and not the domain, he'll have to "Switch User" then log in with the format of Computername\User Name

I know you can lock down an AD account to log into a specific machine but can you lock down a machine to only accept certain user logins? We have some mission critical machines that only have the specific rights with certain ID's but the users keep insiting on logging onto them as their own ID thus making the app not work properly and the machine go whacky. I want to set it up to deny logins other than using the specified ID's they have been given already (and not their own user accounts).

Is there any way to do this other than limiting EVERY user account (since I only need this limit on like 2 PC's per site I have).

Thanks for any help. (yes I know about runas types of solutions I really would like to keep these PC's as clean as we can and not have other user profiles on them at all).

TIA.

A:Lockdown user login on a domain machine to a specific user.

So I would assume these computers are attached to the domain, so their domain logins allow them to login to the computer.

Couldn't you use a combination of the local policies
Deny logon locally
Logon Locally

Both of them allow you to add a user or group to those local policy. I would think that if you deny the everyone group in the domain then set the users who are allowed to login in the other policy, that might work. I am not sure though. I would have to test it.

In the Active Directory they are (of course) separated into OUs and Groups.

So I was wondering is it possible to create two default user profiles and somehow link them to a OU or Group in Active directory?

As of today, in our domain environment consisting of Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 Enterprise machines, we are experiencing the "User Profile service failed the sign-in - User profile cannot be loaded" error message whenever a user tries to login.
This only affects users new to the particular machine. If they have signed on before and already have a cached account the computer logs them in with no issue. This is occurring on both Win8.1 and Win7 machines. We are an academic institution so this is becoming
a huge problem in our labs. Students generally use different computers so this is popping up very frequently. I have a solution for the issue. It appears that on the non-working machines that the "Default" user profile is corrupt. I have discovered
that if I find a machine, Win8.1 or Win7, doesn't matter, that is allowing first time users to logon I can copy the "Default" user profile and replace the corrupt one. I must first permanently delete the corrupt profile before copying over the new
one. I am doing this over the network by navigating the C:\users\ folder. Even this way is becoming cumbersome though as we have over 1000 computer in labs. I have googled and googled and I keep seeing the same answers offering various solutions, none which
are any more practical than my method. I cannot find information on a cause or a reason of why this would just crop up out of nowhere. I suspect maybe a Windows update but I cannot verify that yet. ... Read more

Dell Dimension 5150, WinXP Home SP2

Good morning, all.

I suppose the title of this post could be something like, "Why can't XP be more like Win98?"

But seriously: I have in front of me a File View of “My Computer“.
In Documents and Settings, it shows me that there are apparently four “accounts”: Administrator, All Users, Default User, and me - “k”.

In each one of these there is, in differing combinations, things like “My Documents”, “My Music”, “Favorites”….. And, in some there are what appear to be “administrative” privileges (Local Settings). The confusion this is causing while transferring documents and files from the old machine is getting up my nose! (This is a piecemeal exercise as the old PC is still working as the “office” - word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)

There is one owner, one user and one administrator of this PC - me.

Is there some way that I can reconfigure all this so that there is but one “account”, for example the “Administrator” or “All Users”, with just a simple boot-up without password, and get rid of everything else?

(I did try deleting all accounts but the Administrator Account, and locked myself out of the thing. A bit of messing around in Safe Mode with System Restore got me back in, but I don’t want to do that again!)

Regards,
kb-r

Hi, i was wondering if there is a way to have the automatic updates to prompt only one user account for download and install.

I have the updates set for download only, and im looking for a way to make it so only I can install them and avoid all other users including those that have admin right from installing.

Some computers need the employee to be an admin, but i dont want them to see or be able to install updates. I just want my admin account to be able to do so.

I found the non-administrator notification setting and the shutdown notification option in gpedit.misc which will work for those workstations with no other admin. But was hoping i could configure my options a bit more and be selective by user.

What I have in mind:
Once the user successfully login to PC using the NT login given, he will just click/run a program that will automatically configure his skype account and thunderbird email account, without going to the manual process of inputting the user/pass details and etc.

Note: The program will be linked to a database where the needed information for Skype and Thunderbird Email is stored and that the program will just fetch the data from the database.

Can anyone help/give me idea or sample script/scripting commands for this?

System Restore is not an option because in following the Symantec instructions to remove the trojan I reset the restore date. Can you please help me get my system back to its original configuration?

Thanks! Nica

A:Unable to Configure Windows Firewall

You may not have removed the trojan.cachecachekit completely. IMO I would follow the instructions here http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=15968. Also read this http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=59099.

I updated my Sprout Workspace to get the new 3D Capture application.  After installing I can now longer launch the app and I get the error message "Unable to configure Sprout for 3D Capture".   I did a complete reinstall of Windows 8.1 and went back to the original Sprout Workspace and 3D Capture and everything works fine.    Has anyone had this issue before and solved the problem?

A:Unable to configure Sprout for 3D Capture

I reverted to Sprout Workspace 1.04.4.3241 Rev B. Problem solved.  I went  to:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/Sprout-by-HP/7471144/model/7471145#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30... then paged down to software solutions and downloaded  and installed previous version 1.0.4.3241 Rev.B  (see the following )

I have an Asus wireless WL-520GU that I have a wired connection to my PC. Why, because I am using the wireless only to allow access to my webradio.

Problem is the web radio connects 50% of time. Other times to connect I need to manually configure on webradio to connect to connect to wireless. It works sometimes other times not. I haven't been be to get to point of securing the SSID. So probalby someone is stealing my bandwith.

Now to explain my setup, my modem is connected to my Linksys 2102 adapter (used for VOIP) which to connected to the Lan port on the router.

I can surf the web on the PC, but trying to establish a connection, the PC does not recognize a wireless device. I cannot even access the Asus web interface (192.168.1.1)

My default gateway is 192.168.0.1 that of the Linksys adapter,

How to enable SSID so I can lock it and I can access the wireless problem-free from the web radio (Aluratek) ?

Gooday all. I have a laptop set up for my entertainment area. I am using an HDMI cord from laptop to a screen and using the sound output to a set of surround sound speakers. This a pretty cheap set up,nothing fancy. I am trying to get all the speakers recognized by my Realtek Sound Management application. The Lasptop (http://speccy.piriform.com/results/J...8QITBgvOYgX6Ol) is only recognizing a 2 speaker stereo set up. How am I able to change this so as to be able to adjust settings to the 6 speakers of the system. Thanks in advance.

A:Unable to configure speakers on Laptop.

Looking at the Speccy, I don't see anything other than RealTek HD Audio. If the laptop has a RealTek HD Audio Manager, have you tried setting the speaker type there?

Aside from the audio issue, I notice you only have 2GB of RAM. The 64 bit OS does you no good with only 2GB of RAM, and can be an issue with only the 2GB which is bare minimum for a 64 bit OS. The main reason for using a 64 bit OS is to use more than 4GB of RAM, since a 32 bit OS cannot address 4 GB (or more) of RAM.

Hello all.

My Dell Inspiron 3520 was going quite slow for unknown reasons so I decided to 'refresh' it using Windows advanced start-up setting. Since that time I have been unable to install Windows updates. Well, I can 'install' them, but they won't 'configure'. Once installed and 'configured' 100% I get this error message advising following reboot : "Failure to configure updates. Reverting changes". The laptop then stays paralysed on that screen.

This only started to happen AFTER I "refreshed" my laptop, which was running Windows 8.1 pretty-much problem-free, though a bit slowly, until a week ago. For now I have found a temporary 'fix' by disabling automatic updates; otherwise the laptop is constantly stuck on the "failure to configure updates" error page (because, obviously, it's automatically attempting to install updates). I have done all the standard troubleshooting, including running MS Fix It, Dell Dr ('My Dell' found no hardware issues), MS Malware removal and Mcafee anti-malware. All reported "no issues". I have been in command prompt and found no issues I even tried to 'refresh' the laptop again two more times. I have also spoken to two Windows "technicians" and allowed one of them to remotely access my laptop. He found no issues or "violations".

Obviously, the temporary 'fix' of turning off auto-updates isn't a long term solution, and 'refreshing' the laptop hasn't helped (it actual... Read more

Hi

When I am in Internet Options, Advanced Tab, when I click on an item, it will highlight, but can't click to enable or disable. I am using Mozilla as my primary browser, but don't know if this has any relevance! One
of the main reasons is that I keep on getting an error message from Java (please see log below):-

Additionally, I also receive errors such as FDGO.exe, NTDLL.dll etc etc. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, so would much appreciate all and any help possible!

Uninstall your Java and any Java plug-ins, then reboot your computer. After that, go and try the same things again in your browser options. If everything works out fine, just reinstall your Java and any plugins you may want.

I constantlly get error_not_found 0x80070490 when trying to install updates.

The Microsoft website says its a CBS issue and that the resoloution is to run a repair installation of Vista. Thing is the software was pre-installed so i have no disc and i'm unsure how to run a restore without an OS disc and also without wiping everything accidentally.

HP say speak to Microsoft, Microsoft say speak to HP.

Any ideas how i fix this one before the PC flies out the window ?????

A:Unable to Configure / Install Vista Updates

Hi -

See if this tutorial helps --> http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88...all-vista.html

If no Vista recovery DVD, use the recovery partition - most systems = hit the F10 key during boot-up.
