Q: Peachtree Payroll Formulas

At our company we accrue vacation over 10 months (Jan to Oct each year). The std Peachtree vacation formula assumes a full calendar year. I need help constructing a Peachtree formula that will stop accruing vacation after October. I can set the amount per check. Something as simple as the following concept:

IF (payroll date > 10/31/08, 0, 3.08) which would accrue 3.08 hours each pay period with a date less than 10/31/08. I don't know the syntax within the Peachtree software to make this happen.

I have an unusual situation. In our office we have 3 computers net worked together. The oldest one was the book keepers original machine, she ran peachtree on it and prints statements and invoices to an Epson 5000+ dot matrix printer that was connected directly to it. When she would print and invoice from that computer the printer would sweep each line of text 4 times indicating that its print resolution was 360 x 360. The forms we print on are triplicates so the last copy was nice and dark from having been printed over 4 times. this is as it should be. We bought a dell machine and networked it to the old computer. On the Dell the Peachtree software was reloaded in along with all updates. All printing from the Dell to the epson was done through the network, via the old computer; which was no longer used except to connect to the epson. when printing it would still sweep each line 4 times.
Now the problem.
Due to an office move the epson is connected directly to the Dell machine, now when printing the epson sweeps each line once, this leaves the third copy difficult to read. I have changed the printers properties on the DEll so the resolution is 360 x 360. If I print anything from the old computer or from my E machine computer to the epson, it sweeps each line 4 times. If I print some thing from the Dell using any program other than peachtree it will sweep each line 4 times. ONLY when printing from peachtree on the DEll will it sweep once.

I can't seem to import files from PT Complete 2005 into PT 2011 trail version.

PT 2011 says it can't import .rpt files. It likes .csv but of course there are no .csv files in
PT. Or are there? Can't see any.

Doesn't seem to like database files either. But the data in them don't seem to be very relevant anyway.

QUESTION: when you successfully import data - how do you know?

Twice over the past five months, when reconciling my QuickBooks Pro 2007 account with my bank statement, I have found that the tax amounts for two previously-reconciled paychecks have changed. My accountant, to whom I send my account in a QuickBooks Portable File and who uses a QuickBooks payroll program, says they have not made any changes. By checking backup, I have narrowed the time when these changes occur to the time that the portable file is used for payroll processing. Manually correcting the changed amounts is not an option since they revert to the changed amounts at the next payroll processing period. This seems to be an issue with QuickBooks payroll processing software. Has anyone else had such an experience and, if so, found the cause and a solution? The checks in question had been printed and reconciled at the time the changes occurred and the net pay had been "locked" so these changes should not have occurred.

I am trying to find a way to have cells communicate to each other using formulas. This is for a salary planning spreadsheet. I need the the spreadsheet to calculate a new salary based on multiple user input. I want the user to be able to input a percentage increase and the new salary can be calculated or I want the user to be able to put in the actual dollar increase and calculate the new salary. I also need it to show what the percentage increase is if they input the dollar increase or show the dollar increase if they input the percentage increase. I have attached the spreadsheet with the formulas, but again I have no idea how to make this work. Please look at columns W,X,Y,Z. I also inserted comments to explain the formulas.

I a little rusty but I'm trying to create an excel payroll spreadsheet and I'm running into formula issues at every turn. I'm trying to insert a formula that takes my gross income (L3) and calculates federal income tax withholding including deductions and to show the total in Fed W/H box (M3)
I also need to calculate Suta at .8% up to $7000

Hi guys

I want to build an HR/Payroll system from scratch.
It needs to be similar to the one I use at the moment which is a website, it is a management information system that many people log in to, to enter and view data from.
For example
Manager A inputs shifts on to a rota for his team of 5 staff members.
The 5 staff members are able to log on to the site (as a basic view only role) which allows them to see what the manager has submitted for them for their monthly timesheet.
The data entered by Manager A and by Admin A about Employee A is able to be manipulated and presented in a pdf report. For example, if I want to know how many times Employee A has been off sick in the past year. Thankfully for me, Manager A has been putting Employee A's periods of sickness on the rota. The system lists these periods of sickness, and all their attributes, from the past 12 months, in a pdf report for me. It also does the same for holidays/annual leave. The system also gives me a pdf-able report of the employees training because Admin A has put on information about every course Employee A has done.

I can also, on my system role, upload documents for managers to view.

I can also export all timesheet entries by CSV so I can import it into another system (Sage).

I am not an experienced IT expert but I am willing to spend years learning how to do this.

I am manually creating a payroll spreadsheet for our company (excel template). I want to add a column that tracks YTD so at the end of the year I can look at how much we spend on payroll. Example I would like cell "I5" to add what is in cell ($60) plus the new week total in cell "H5" ($150) to show a total of $210 in I5....I also want to keep a running total same type deal for the taxes.

I have googled and saw maybe a macro is needed but have not idea how to create this.

I've searched high and low and still haven't been able to find the proper formula. I have a spreadsheet where I calculate ER SS tax for each EE for each pay period. I need a formula that is going to look at the YTD earnings and the wage base limit (106800) each week before calculating the formula. So what would a formula be to calculate 6.2% of wages this week taking into consideration that YTD wages are less than 106800, and when they do go over 106800, make the calculation 0, but keep prior week's taxes what they were. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I use Excel to prepare payroll for my staff. I have 12 workbooks, one for each month. Each workbook has 3 spreadsheets (departments). Each spreadsheet has 4 tables, one below the other depending how many weeks the month has. Each table has headings for name of employee, rate, social security... and so forth.

I am looking for a way to compile all these workbooks in a way such that I get a total (cumulative) for the entire year for every employee his/her total gross pay, social securities, and the count (no. of weeks worked) - all this into a single table, preferably new workbook.

If this can be done through Excel or Access, please help me. If not, can someone recommend me a payroll program where I prepare payroll, customize social securities, pay date, deductions, additions, hours/day pay by class and get monthly or annual reports such as I am asking.

I am the new bookkeeper for a small company. Our local withholding rate has recently changed from 1.0% to 1.7%. I have changed this in the employee defaults, but it still is calculating the 1.0% in each paycheck. Even if I go into an individual employee record, the tax rate is still 1.0%, (after I've changed the defaults.) And, if I change the rate in the individual employee record, the change still doesn't 'take' in the payroll window. It does show the new rate in the employee record, but it's like Quickbooks isn't applying the changes through into the payroll module.

I've followed the Qbks help files, but it just says to change the defaults if the rate change applies to all/most employees. I'm not super familiar with Qbks yet, so maybe it's something easy that I'm missing.

It's been two years since I used QuickPayroll, which is included in QuickBooks, but what I remember is you have to go into the basic format designed to provide information to all payroll records.

I also found that Tech Support was VERY helpful. Have you tried calling them? Really patient with some of my stupid questions.

In attempting to run payroll yesterday, a window appeared stating "Payroll processing is not permitted when a run is already open in another period." Looking back into July, I found a Payroll Posting Log listed as "Incomplete" and the time on it was about one minute prior to the posting log that was actually posted. So I don't know what happened, maybe a momentary loss of power or wireless signal? The problem is, I can't find a way to access it in order to delete it or cancel it. I had to calculate payroll by hand, which means none of the withholdings, benefits, gross & net pay, etc., are updated.

Help! We no longer have support from Deltek, and can't afford to upgrade to Vision. If I can't access Payroll, one of the most important aspects of the program is gone.
(I have Windows XP Professional, Version 5.1.2600 w/SP2).

I have been advised by Intuit that QB 2009 Pro will function in Windows 7 but payroll will not...has anyone experienced this problem? It's the only thing stopping me from the upgrade to 7.

The only version of QuickBooks that is compatible with Windows 7 is QuickBooks 2010. To fix the compatibility issue, Intuit’s Technical support suggests to upgrade to QuickBooks 2010. I have QB 2009 - we had a payroll tax subscription that calculated taxes and we filed our own reports. Suddenly it no longer works and I want to go back to manually calculating the taxes, inputting them and printing the checks. I used to be able to do this.

For 2 days I've been round and round with their tech support and I'm almost to tears every time I try to explain for the nth time and go thru the attempts to update for the nth time.

What is happening is that when I click Employees, pay unscheduled paycheck, then click an employee, it is telling me QB doesn't have all the info it needs and I then get stuck in a loop of screens asking me to verify the NM UI and withholding rates. I can never go past that to get into the paycheck creation screen.

One helpful soul tried to tell me that I would now have to do them through the WRITE CHECK screen. Is this correct? Or is there something else I can do to try to get back to doing it manually? That's going to be a pain if it's true.

I'm an accountant more or less, so I am familiar with all the accounts involved and rates and such.

UPDATE: For anyone else going thru this #@#%. FINALLY got a tech who actually helped. I had to go into each employee record, edit the tax info on that employee, remove the state taxes on the "Other" tab, and I was able to get into the create paycheck screen. Thanks to all the 91+ people who looked at my problem so fast!

How can I convert our company data from peachtree 7 to quickbooks 2002???

Not sure if this will work, but worth a look:

To convert prepare the COA and JE the Items in.
To convert to QB.
1. Prepare a new COA with as few entries as possible.
2. Name that file BASE.
3. Copy Base.qbw to Base01.qbw
4. To Base01 add the company data and set the preferences the way you want them.
5. Copy Base01.qbw to Test.qbw and to Base0i.qbw
6 To test add a couple of items to each module with some dollar values. Make some sub-accounts in the COA. Use numbers if you want.
7. Export the COA and each module that you wish to add data to.

Print out and read the Import - Export data in help. The reason we copy the files is so when we mess up we do not have to start at zero. The reason we export the data is to have a sample we can look at to prepare the data for import. The export and import data is text delimited and spreadsheet like Excel is the best tool for
manipulating the data. You will have to change the order of master account - subaccount as different accounting programs subtotal different.

When you have the data prepared in the spreadsheet export it as a delimited file. Use "all files" to find the import file. It is slick when it works. If you get the COA imported the way you want rename base0i.qbw to base1i.qbw for the reasons above.

Hi I am new to this forum

I am have a problem with Peachtree printing invoices and statements. When I try to print invoices and statements on some printers I get a message saying that there is no room to store printer setup parameters in form file. The printers that I have at home are HPpsc950 and Epson 2880. I can print to the Epson and when I try to print to the HP is when I get the error message. I have had this on other printers. Can anyone help.

Will Crystal reports v8.5 run with Peachtree Classic Accounting v12.Reports were written in DOS and now the user would like these reports to run from windows 98. Do we have to rewrite the report for windows? They do not use SQL and I'm not sure if they are using access, would you know where the data resides?

I have a Peachtree 2005 program installed in my computer. However since yesterday 11th Nov I have been unable to get into it.Whenever I click on the Peach icon to get into the program, a dialogue box shows up that says 'C:\PROGRA~1\PEACHT~1\Company\STATUS.DAT'.I haven't a clue as to what that means. one of my friend installed peachtree accounting software. 2 days backhis computer gets automatically off while doing one important company accounts. After that incident, when tried to open that company account, it shows a message

We are running peachtree DOS version 11 on windows XP (Pentium 4 1.4 mhz, 256 MB RAM) and DOS is running slower than our previous computer (Pentium 1 166mhz, 32 MB RAM). What is going on!?!?! How can this new computer run DOS slower than the old one? The windows operating system is faster, but when DOS is running, it acts like it is thinking so hard. Is there something I can do with the memory allocation to fix this problem? Please let me know.

Just need some assistance on how to back up Peachtree files to floppy disketts. The backup facility provided in the software does not do the trick.

We're trying to print invoices and payments within Peachtree accounting 8.0 It won't print to our HP 1200 laserjet and closes itself down. Peachtree says it's HP's fault and HP lays blame on Peachtree. Any help would be awesome.

While running Peachtree Complete we were unable to print checks. We recieve the following error message -

i/o Error in file Ceachw\macoweLu\eventlog.dat: Error in writing to the file. Select help for more options.

We have run a full scan disk and still are finding this problem present and we are unable to print. Can someone please help!

Sounds like you may have a "dead" spool file that's getting in the way when the program tries to create the new spool file. Not uncommon.

My battery went dead while I was using Peachtree Accounting. Now when I try to run Peachtree, it won't let me open the program, because it thinks I am already using it. I have uninstalled the program, and re-installed it, but it still thinks I am running the program. I suspect it might be a registry problem, but I am not sure.

Does anyone know if there is a way to set fixed decimal in Peachtree? eg I enter 12345, it places the decimal 123.45 for me. Also, if this is possible, is it company wide or user specific. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

We have used Peachtree since 2006 & recently added the FAS50 program which I am a beginner with. The FAS50 is an add on for fixed assets. The programs are made to work together. The problem is the new general ledgers added to Peachtree are not updating to the FAS side. I have tried the auto update & manual update but it tells me there isn't any new data. I need to find out why it isn't recognizing the new entries and how to fix it

I am an online student.. one of the classes I am taking is Peachtree Complete 2007. I have been trying to install the software that came with my book onto my laptop. I have followed all instructions to a "T" from out of the book, the internet, the disk, my instructor.. about turning off firewalls and antivirus.. I have "allowed" all of the needed files as exceptions on Windows Defender. I download Peachtree onto my computer.. once I do, and the shortcut comes up on my desktop, I will double click it and I get the following error message:
"You must use Peachtree Premium Accounting when using Terminal Services. Click the learn more button for information about upgrading your current version of Peachtree" When I click on OK it doesn't do anything at all. When I click on LEARN MORE it takes me to the peachtree website to download a patch because I am running Vista. I have tried all ways with the patch also.. I have RUN the patch, I have SAVED the patch. Once it's on my desktop I right click on it, and have hit OPEN and I've also tried RUN AS ADMIN.. it runs through it's process and then when it comes up it give me this error message: "Setup cannot detect a peachtree software on your computer. In order to update peachtree you must have a previous version of peachtree already installed" PLEASE HELP.. before I get behind in my classes!! There are 2 or 3 other people having these same issues. I am currently using Peachtree, a program that I am less then thrilled with (in general), especially its reporting capabilities. I am running the premium program and the reports that I can run are terribly disappointing.

I am unable to filter out and sort fields as I would like. For example, I am unable to report a/r and a/p by job. Also, I can create a report by customer but can't break that down in more detail by job and I am running multiple jobs for many of my clients.

Customer Support has been less then helpful and have told me "Peachtree can't do that" (for example - composing a report of expenses per job) several times, when in fact I can. I figured this out on my own, despite customer support telling me it is not possible.

Yea .... why bother entering job #'s if you can't use that information as a filter? Anyway .....

'Crystal Reporting' is a reporting module that allows greater reporting capabilities and something that I need to seriously consider getting but customer support has told me that this is complicated and difficult to run.

How difficult? I am not sure. But I have more faith in my ability then theirs as they have proven to be less then helpful up to now.

Does anyone have any experience or exposure with this? If so I would love to hear it, positive or negative.

A:Peachtree - Crystal Reporting

Crystal is OK. Runs fine against relational databases in Access db (local or network) as well as enormously complicated Oracle databases in a network environment. Crystal has a lot of very nice features, a lot of annoyances, and their small share of bugs, but generally is fine. Easier to use and more elaborate than the Access reporting method.

I think it's generally a solid performer with lots of output features and formats, and can do most of the stuff one normally needs in a small or large corporate environment.

What's a/p or a/r - accounts things? Like invoices and stuff? It actually doesn't matter what the subject is. Give it a relational database, setup the connection, tell it how your tables are related and you're good to go. You can make it as simple or complex as you wish.

Without knowing the structure of your database, what system you use and so on, I doubt you can really get much advice. Perhaps if you google for some materials from various university sites, you'll get an idea how it behaves. In a way it's amazingly simple to use (drag, drop, let Crystal do most of the work), yet there are moments where some details can drive you up a wall.

One major annoyance I find is that it only allows one level deep of subreports (which are sort of common routines), you cannot nest another subreport within a subreport. This flaw may not apply to your application at all.

On the other hands, I also find difficulty on creating new report by using Crystal Report on PeachTree.

I have a question regarding the Peachtree Complete Accounting software. Recently, I reconciled the checking account and posted to the period a check not entered under "adjustments" in the "account reconcilation" section. However, for some reason the check is listed as posted under the account reconcilation section, but the amount is not was never subtracted. I realized my mistake (that the check should have been entered under "payments") and tried to delete or correct the adjustment but unable to make this correction. Instead, I found out that the check only appears in the account reconcilation section, but doesn't appear in any other report for this period or any other period for that matter. However, the other adjustments I entered that were not a check (in other words I didn't give it a reference number) appear in all reports. This makes no sense to me. Can you please tell me how to correct this problem? I've been unable to find anyone to help me unless someone can charge me lots of $$$!

I have answered my own question. Go to General Journal Entries and under the correct period of transaction, choose the entered adjustment, then select delete. Then re-enter the transaction (check) correctly and the month will balance.

O/S: Windows 2000 Professional
Program: Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004

When trying to print a Financial Statement Report in Peachtree, I receive the following Error Message (exact wording):

"peachw.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created."

The report is an Income Statement that I created under an older version of Peachtree (Complete Accounting 6.0 Batch 01). It prints a separate yet similar report just fine though (the Balance Sheet).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the software? It may be a corrupt file somewhere.

If you have, lets see what's running at the same time:

Go to Run and type MSINFO32
On the left choose Software Enviroment, then Startup Programs. Copy/paste the list here.
