BSOD - Windows 7 on USB device connection

Q: BSOD - Windows 7 on USB device connection

Win 7 Home Premium running On Dell Studio 1558 laptop (Intel i5 with 4G Ram).

About 50% of the time when I plug a usb device in (happens with different devices, different ports) I get a total system crash - not truly a BSOD here since it just looks like something is writing to graphics memory (odd patterns/colors on screen, etc). When I pull the USB device - the system reboots and comes up as normal (and sometimes will take the device that was just inserted fine!). Zip file with dump and perfmon attached (I hope)

Preferred Solution: BSOD - Windows 7 on USB device connection

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi -

The 2 BSODs both name Acronis as the probable cause -

snapman.sys Sat Aug 15 04:42:00 2009 (4A8674D8) - Acronis Snapshots Manager

Remove Acronis.

I would also recommend that you update ATI video drivers -

atikmdag.sys Wed Nov 18 14:14:44 2009 (4B0447A4)

ATI video --> http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

Remove McAfee Internet Security --> http://jcgriff2.com/A-V_Removal_Tool...e_Removal.html

If BSODs persist, run the Driver Verifier

Hi! I'm running Windows 2000 and my internet connection hangs when I play a file in Windows Media Player or plug in a USB device. When I stop playing the file or unplug the device, it immediately returns back to normal.

Any ideas what causes this or how to fix it?

A:Internet connection hangs when USB device plugged-in or Windows Media Player

Sounds like a resource problem perhaps a few system specifications would help diagnose and a possible solution i.e. free harddrive space and memory installed.

Hi All,

I've been searching in the internet for almost a week now to fix my BSOD - "Thread Stuck in Device Driver". I have already reinstalled my Windows 10, 2 times now but still encountering the same error. Tried also to reinstall the AMD graphics driver by using 'Display Driver Uninstaller' then reinstalling it, but still the same. Also tried to run "sfc /scannow" but windows didn't find anything.
This only happens when playing Dota 2, while waiting for the game to start. I'm browsing/watching youtube using Chrome.

I have attached the minidump for the BSOD. I hope someone could help me.

Thank you very much!

After installing Windows 7 (using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Pro disc) on my Inspiron 24 3455 desktop I need to install drivers (video, network....). I have put them onto 3 different external hard drives. I then copy them onto the computer without any problems. Once I restart I get a BSOD stating that my BIOS may not be AHCI compatible. This only happens when I insert any of these fine working external hard drives. If I don't hook-up an external hard drive I can restart the computer without any problems but I need drivers for my wired internet connection to work and many other drivers.
No, I don't have a disc with the necessary drivers but will burn them onto one if this doesn't get resolved.
Any thoughts on why the computer crashes after numerous clean installs after hooking up an innocent external hard drive?
I burned a CD and copied drivers from the CD to the desktop. After installing the Chipset driver I received the same BSOD.
Thank you for looking.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8000 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. In March the PC started to BSOD every time a USB storage device was connected to it. Other USB devices like mouse or keyboard did not cause this problem. It happens with two different external hard drives and 7 different USB flash drives regardless of which USB port is used.

I tried to do a restore but the we only had two restore points, both after we started having this problem.

We have backed up all our data to another PC via network connection, before reinstalling Windows I thought perhaps someone on this forum would have some suggestions. I already went through the tutorial and tried the uninstalling the grayed out USB devices, four times with no change.

I have downloaded and run the SF utility as described, results are zipped up in the attached.

I also include a photo of the BSOD.

Hello all. I really need your technical help. I keep getting BSOD's and not sure why.

I hope you can help me identify why and fix it. It just happens randomly.

I have followed the steps here about how to post a thread here.

I have attached my SF_Diagnostic_Tool scan.

Should I attach the minidump file too or is that included in that scan results?

Hope someone can help.

Thanks my kindest.

Edit: I had several BSOD's with different outputs on the screen for the past week.
I then reformated my PC from my Recovery Option and thought it was sorted.
I downloaded some drivers from Packard Bell site and installed them.
I thought it was sorted but been getting them now.
I'm currently running Windows in Safe Mode w/ Networking.
I'll attach a photo I took of the previous BSOD's on my iPhone.

Before Format
After Format

PS. I also ran that windows file check but it said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

I ran that Memtest program last night but it didnt find any errors after 8 passes.

Could these BSOD's be because of an old driver somewhere?

A:BSOD -A Device Driver Attempting to Corrupt the System Windows 7

Hi EyeBallPaul.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup program before you upload another zip.

Also .....

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Another interesting event of tomorrow:

The AVGIDSAgent service did not shut down properly after receiving a preshutdown control.
But I am not seeing AVG installed. Have you uninstalled AVG within last 24 hours and installed Avast then?

Let us know. Because the answer to this question will be very vital.

Over the last few weeks I've been getting BSODs with the following message while playing games. Its infrequent, but regular enough to be worrying (perhaps once every 3-4 sessions). Sometimes it can go for hours without one and sometimes it happens within 5 minutes of opening the program.

Hardware specs are Nvidia Geforce GTX 460, i5-5200, 8GB RAM, 520w PSU. Most of it is about a year or two old. Have checked memory and updated drivers to latest version. Dump files attached. Thanks very much for any help.

I had to wait a lot before a new crash but this time it was big.

Two BSOD in less than two minutes and now strangely I don't have any internet connection (the troubleshoot center says it's because of "the diagnostic policy service is not running") and the windows firewall is down and is impossible to run again (Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings, Error code 0x8007042c).

I'm uploading the two dmp files with this post using another computer.

I thank you in advance for any help !

Looking for help on ad-hoc wi-fi network between Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop running Win 7 Ultimate and Nokia N79 running Symbian S60v3

I want to view live tv on my phone. A USB TV tuner card is connected to laptop which is in turn connected to Satellite DTH receiver. I can see TV in my laptop in Win Media Center and dedicated app provided by USB TV card maker.

I know basics - I have to connect phone and laptop via ad hoc wi fi connection. Run VLC player, select source and use rtsp:// protocol with .sdp extension.

I do all this but yet get unable to connect on real player in phone.

Pls share details about configuration settings of ad hoc connection ipv4 settings etc.

What am i missing?

A:Ad Hoc Connection between Lap and Mobile Device

At best I'll be of minimal help here, as there is so much I do not know about the phone and the special apps you are using.

For the ad-hoc wireless I recommend to get it working unsecured before trying to add encryption. You can leave it as a dynamic connection and then each device will be assigned an APIPA (169.254.x.y). This is a pain, however, because it takes a while for the two devices to get talking to each other and you don't immediately know the IP addresses in case you need to do some troubleshooting. So, I recommend assigning static IPs--suggest on one machine and on the other. Mask

When you think that the network should be working open a Command prompt on the laptop and

ping (assuming the phone was assigned that IP)

If you get replies you know you at least have one way communication.

If you have a non-Windows firewall or security suite on the laptop you may have to configure it for the desired access.

Ok, here is they story. I got a new laptop and while it was on the docking station accidentally unplugged the cord. The computer froze and i shut it down and turned it back on, alright. Now I go to connect to my dial up provider and in the white action log box in the upper left hand corner I get the message..."the connection device assigned to this phone number or connection was now found". I can not sign onto the internet now . I do not know what happened here. I assume its something modem oriented...I don't know how to fix it or where to go to fix it. Please, all help is appreciated and detailed steps would help because I am a noob.

I Purchased A Usb Connected Second Video Device So I Could Avoid Having To Open The “box” And Deal With Inserting An Additional Pci Card.

The Manual That Came With The Usb Device Says That If Your Computer Has An Integrated Video On The Motherboard That There Is A Utility In Its Software That Always Sets It As The Primary Display Monitor.

It Further Says That There Is Also A Utility That Disables This “always Primary Monitor” Feature, And It Can Be Run By Clicking On The “safely Remove Hardware” Icon In The Task Bar.

The Manual States That The “usb Device’ Setup Must Designate The Monitor Connected To It Must Be Set As The “primary Monitor” For This Device To Work.

I Tried To Change The New “usb” Monitor To The “primary” In Windows Display Settings But When I Make The Changes And Do The “re-start” Windows Requires To Effect The Changes, The Original Monitor Always Appears As The Primary Again, As Indicated Above, In The Manual For The “usb Device”

When I Click On The “safely Remove Hardware” Icon In The Task Bar, I Do Not See Anything That Refers To Disabling The “on Board Primary Monitor”.

Going To Windows Device Manager And Clicking On Monitors, I Can See The Original Primary Monitor And The New “usb Monitor” And They Both Show As “device Op... Read more

I am really frustrated at the moment, I can't seem to get away from this problem I keep having. Last august I build my super computer. It worked fine, for the most part until this summer when I decided to take it apart and figure out some problems I was having, I ended up reloaded windows on it and starting fresh. I currently use the Logitech bluetooth keyboard as my main keyboard. The keyboard worked fine with the supplied bluetooth dongle, however a few months ago I noticed it was slugglish and eventually it stopped working so I then used a cheap bluetooth dongle I got for like a dollar. This worked fine with my keyboard until about a month or two ago when the keyboard stopped working. At first I thought it was the keyboard but after a restart it would work fine. Eventually, I decided to remove the device and re add it. When I did this, my computer went to the BSOD with the error message IRQ Driver something, I am sorry i didn't write it down but I can get it if necessary.

I rebooted my computer but it would not come out of this and would immediately go to the BSOD right after the windows flag appeared. So then in safe mood I tried to restore the system to what it was before I installed the bluetooth, and this eventually worked. So then I went back and tried to add a device again and again BSOD but only this time system restore did not work and after many frustrating hours I decided to just reload windows again. I also purchased a ASUS USB bluetooth ... Read more

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32. To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\M... Read more

We are using the Microsoft "Windows Device Portal" REST API to do mobile app side-loading.
Everything in the REST API is working for us except for the "uninstall app" which is a "http rest delete" call.
So, to troubleshoot, I thought I would use Microsoft "Message Analyzer" to see if we could see the http traffic coming to and from the workstation to the mobile device over the USB.
I didn't want to install the Fiddler .net library and it looks like if you are on W10, then you can use the Microsoft-Windows-WinINet-Capture provider.
My steps:
0. Start "Microsoft Message Analyzer" in admin mode
1. click "New Session"
2. click "LiveTrace" button
3. Add providers:
    a. Microsoft-Windows-WinINet

5. click Start button

Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc Right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager are there any yellow flags? If so, these devices need drivers installed.
What is the make and model# of your laptop? Go to the manufacturers support/download drivers and type in your make and model# or service tag # and download the Chipset and Audio driver for your computer.

A:USB Imaging Device, windows was unable to locate driver for this device..whats this m

At some stage recently you have placed a new scanner/digital camera, or the likes of, in your computer. Windows hasn't been able to apply a driver to that device and so it asks you if you want to connect to the internet to try and find a matching driver on the microsoft web site. The problem is easily solved. If you still have the device connected and plan on using it, then grab the CD that came with it and follow the installation instructions on it. If you don't have it connected then go back to the 'my computer' 'properties' into 'device manager'. In there disable the imaging device that has the yellow ! next to it. And hopefully next time you restart, no more problem.

Hey all,

I've found a huge number of varied threads and websites that discuss similar issues to the one I'm seeing, but none of them match my symptoms exactly and none of the fixes I *have* tried have fixed a thing. Sorry for the excessively long write-up below, but I'm QA by trade and I'm trying to include as much useful information as I can for the serious troubleshooters.

I'll write a short description of what's happening, followed by some weird details I've noticed that I hope will help provide some clues.

The issue occurs like this:

For roughly an hour or so of use my machine seems to have no problems at all. At some seemingly random point that has no obvious trigger, my Chrome browser tabs will stop loading pages and refreshing will also just loop. Windows generally just stops working properly a this point. If I mess around with Windows to open Task Manager or anything else, I will eventually receive a small window that's titled "Microsoft Windows" and reads "This program is not responding", and then it gives me the option to either wait for the program to respond or close it. If I choose to wait, I will eventually get a super-fast BSOD and the system will reboot itself. When it comes back up it will give me a generic "Reboot and select proper boot device" message. I will have to hard shutdown the machine, boot it back up, and select "Run Windows Normally" in order to get Windows up and ... Read more

I have bought a new system mainframe and I can't transfer my old scsi port into the new system. I have my printer on the parallel port and I wondered if it's possible to connect the scanner through a USB port, or whether I need to purchase a new scsi card....

A:Widowview Scanner Connection Device ?

Welcome to TSG

It would be better to just get a new card if you can’t get the old one to work. A Tekram DC315U is more than sufficient for any scanner and sells for about $25 in the US. It is for a standard mini 50 pin SCSI connector.

A USB to SCSI adapter wouldn’t work as well and would probably be pricier. You can’t just get an adapter cord with SCSI on one end and USB on the other if that is what you were asking.

Is there a way to monitor all device's internet connection into a log ? (computer, laptop, tablets and phone ... all in one)

Deeper explanation :

because I do not like AT&T DSL 5M internet provider, but that is the only company in this area that has it.

anyway, I am getting sick of disconnecting and reconnecting ... not sure if that DSL is fluctuating ... or along the DSL lines thru houses/business re-wiring DSL ... or etc etc etc ...

how can I know whether is it guaranteed disconnected/Reconnected by computer or DSL or etc ?

I was playing a 8 ball tournament online and lost one match dues disconnecting (no, hack/cheat involved because I played on mobile)

only thing I noticed is that AT&T cellular data still connected forever without getting disconnected ... but I can not use data plan because of the limited bandwidth/data usage.

so, I tried nearly everything I can think of and researched hard ... and tested it ... I still can not find an issue, even DSL guy came here to check it out ... nothing's wrong here ... BS ... there is something, somewhere that is causing disconnecting and reconnecting ...

already did flush dns, clear cache, etc etc ...

I just need networking monitor log because I am can not watch all 6 devices and test it when disconnecting occurs ... I thought that is a great idea to pinpoint even further down, for example : laptop #2, tablet #1 and this computer gets disconnecting reconnecting when ... Read more

This isn't exactly a Windows7 problem, but I don't know where else to ask it.

I've purchased a small (single 2TB) network assessable storage unit - a Western Digital MyBookLive. I'm having trouble connecting the MBL device to the LAN. My LAN config is consists of an Actiontec GT701-WG router/DSL modem/ WiFi access point, a LinkSys 5-port ethernet switch, a Win7 desktop PC ethernet-connected to the router through the switch, a wireless-connected XP desktop PC, and a wireless-connected Vista laptop.

The NAS device supports UPnP so I can connect it directly to the router or any of 3 computers on the LAN - a Win7 desktop, a Vista laptop, and an XP desktop. The device is visible (but not necessarily usable) in each of thse cases. However, if I connect the NAS device to the switch nothing sees it. I've tried multiple ports on the switch (including ports that work for the PC) and multiple ethernet cables. Nothing works.

The NAS device supports 10M/100M/GB ethernet. The router and switch switch support 10/100MB (although the router reports it has a 10MB connection to my PC so maybe one of these devices doesn't actually support 100MB). When directly connected a PC or laptop the NAS device's ethernet status LED is green. When directly connected to the router it shows yellow. (I may have those colors reversed.) When connected to the switch the status LED is off. I suspect the color is an indication of the connection speed, and no speed has been determined whe... Read more

At first we thought the our wi-fi router was dying, so we bought another one, set it up the same way, and then experienced the same problem which is the connection will drop, we'll have to reboot the wireless router and then we can connect....and we keep having to do this with the 2 laptops we have. Our 1 PC that is connected via ethernet to the same wireless router has never had any problems. SO I am not on my 3rd wireless router now, this time a D-link WBR-2310 and am just sick and tired of having to keep rebooting the router every time the connection drops.

Both of our laptops on Windows XP, SPK 2 and both configured to use the Intel-Pro-Set wireless configuration utility as we thought maybe the windows management option was the problem.

The Wireless router is set to Broadcast our SSID and is using the "Enable the WPA wireless security" option with TKIP. We have "Enable extended Range mode" selected. DHCP Server is turned on.
So what can I do??? Obviously it can't be the router as this our 3rd one.
Please help.

About a month ago I have suddenly stopped getting internet connection to my phone from only my internet (wifi). Other devices can connect to my wifi network and my phone can connect to different wifi networks. My phone does connect to the wifi (It says connect to Edimax...) but no data comes in.The problem is not that I have inputted the wrong password. I have tried resetting the phone (factory reset), no progress. I have called my ISP (they don't know how to help). I don't know what else I can do. Please if you can, help me.

I encountered a problem with my internet connection and I believe it may have to do with DNS. I can't access the internet at all on my laptop, neither Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Firefox work. I ran a diagnostics test and received this message: "The remore device or resource won't accept the connection." More details state that "the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not set up to accept connections on port 'The World Wide Web service (HTTP).' I've searched through many forums and tried countless possible solutions:

Resetting my computer
Power cycling the modem
Resetting Internet browser settings
Flushing the DNS via cmd
Releasing and renewing the IP address (Note: cmd is unable to renew the IP because it fails to connect to the DHCP server)
Disabling Windows Firewall
Checking for proxy settings that may be checked

I'm using a wired connection that goes directly to the modem, no router. An interesting thing to note is that I am able to connect to the internet via mobile hotspot on my Android phone. I've already contacted my ISP (Comcast) and they believe it's a computer related issue but through my trials, this doesn't seem to be the case. It looks like a DNS issue.

Oh, here is my ipconfig (I couldn't include it in the original post because I'm using my phone and the length of post ate up lots of memory)

I had been using the IE well until yesterday I cannot open any web page. I'm sure the network works fine, because I can receive/send email using outlook. I thought maybe the IE had some problem, so removed the IE 7, downloaded IE 8 using another PC, then installed the IE 8, but it still cannot open any web page. I checked the Network Connections, found "Unavailable - device missing" under MSN Connection manager.

What should I do to solve this problem?

I set up ICS on my laptop so that I can use my Xbox 360 in the living room. Everything runs fine, however when I run a network diagnostic test on the 360 it tells me that it only has "moderate" connectivity to the NAT.

When I have the 360 hooked up directly to the router setting up the DMZ for the 360 is no problem. However, when the 360 is set up in the living room and running off of the ICS I can't set it up as a DMZ because my router only allows a DMZ to be set up as a hardcoded 192.168.1.xxx format. Since the address assigned to the 360 does not follow the 192.168.1.xxx format I need to be able to assign the DMZ to an address that doesn't maintain the 192.168.1.xxx convention. Is there any way of doing this either by reconfiguring my WRT54G router in some way or by some other networking trickery?

Thanks in advance.

If yes, what happend and when for it to stop working as expected ? - What is your operating system used ?- Do you have network device drivers installed ?- Do you use any 3rd party security application (with firewall capability) ?  Looking forward to your reply.

I truly have searched many threads with a variety of search terms and cannot zero in on the exact problem or a potential solution. Here is a concise description:

Old 2002 Dell Dimension 4500 which could not update to Service Pack 2 on Xp Pro. Reformatted and reinstalled operating system. Desktop appears and all functions seem normal except can not connect to Internet. There is an Ethernet connection to the motherboard, and the connection to the net is working (main computer on which I write this is connected via DSL to the net). Device drivers have been installed from CD backup disk, as well as downloaded from Dell support. Have repeated process twice, with same result.

Device Manager does not show an internet connection box; Other devices show four lines, all with yellow question marks. Typing ipconfig /all in the cmd window produces nothing--no error, no listing.

SIW profile program says, under "Network Service", that there is an Ethernet Controller. Clicking on this shows a description with one line saying: Status: "0x01802400 has problem".

Another profile program, Belarc Advisor reports, under "Communications:, the following line: "Network Card MAC 00:00:00:00:00:00".

I am really stuck on how to proceed and solve this problem. Hopefully, with this diagnostic information, some of you more knowledgeable people can help me.

Any advice?
Many thanks, Ken

A:No Networking Connection in Device Manager

I would logically guess that either no drivers are installed for the network adapter, the incorrect drivers are installed or the network adapter itself is not functioning.

I would lean toward you're not having istalled all the motherboard drivers and devices because you have so many question marks in your device manager, which doesn't preclude having a dead network adapter because I don't know if a MAC address would be reported by BELARC regardless of identification of the device or not. If it is supposed to, the "flat line" of zeros probably means its dead, if not, drivers.

Hoping this is the best place to post this.

I recently purchased a gadget called a HD HomeRun Prime from a company called Silicon Dust, Model HDHR3-CC (www.hdhomerun.com). They are located in Plesanton, CA. It is supposed to stream live TV at 1080i to “any screen on your home network” , i.e., “Smart” TVs, computers, media players, game consoles, laptops, Blu-Ray players, Android devices, etc. It has three digital tuners and connects to my Verizon FiOS cable with an Ethernet cable going back to the Wi-Fi router. There is a slot for a Motorola “M-Card” (CableCARD) which I have obtained, installed and activated. Verizon charges $4.99/mo. to rent this card. This is supposed to give you the ability to stream the live TV to three devices (wirelessly) without having to rent additional set-top boxes from Verizon at $11.99/mo. The product literature stated that it was “dlna certified” but did NOT mention that devices intended to be used with it also HAD to be dlna certified or compliant. The only requirement it places on TVs is that they be “Smart.” (See http://www.hdhomerun.com/company/about/ for a more detailed technical explanation.)

Soooooooooooo, I went out and bought two Vizio E241i-A1W TVs. They are “Smart” 1080p technology. The software supplied with the device is installed on an ACER NetBook running Windows 7. This is able to connect to the device, wirelessly through the Wi-Fi router and displays all of the channels (including premium) I am able to see on the TV... Read more

A:Vizio TV connection to HDHomeRun device

The two methods would be via app/software or DLNA.

DLNA support is a feature, and isn't supported on all models/brands. If it's supported, it should be listed in the specs. I didn't see it mentioned in the User Manual for your TV.

If Silicon Dust states it won't work, then it sounds like you are out of luck. If there was a work around, or even a solution that works on some models, they would be the ones to know.

I was looking for a supported TV list on their site, but couldn't find one.

Hi all, I've been dealing with this problem for a few weeks now, I moved into a new apartment, got my internet set up, and I've noticed my new PC doesn't get the same connection speeds as all the rest of my devices, or my roommates devices. I'm running Windows 10, I've tried both a wired and wireless connection, both limited to around ~20mbps, when I'm paying for 150mbps, and every other device, ie. my phone, PlayStation, my roommates PC, and his phone, all connect consistently over both wired and wireless at 130-150mbps. I've tried uninstalling my AV software (despite following all steps to uninstall, Norton still has files in my ProgramData I can't get rid of, and TSG SysInfo still detects it as my active, enabled AV), setting my TCP/IP stack and WINSOCK to default, as recommended in another forum I found, and updating my drivers. I've read to start up in Safe mode and check the connection speed from there, but I find that I can't get my browser to open in Safe mode to try, and I'm unaware how to check it otherwise. Any help would be appreciated, I'm losing my mind a little

I have had this camera for awhile now (Olympus Sp-800uz) and been plugging it in to my laptop (Sony Vaio) to upload photos regulary. But now when I plug it in after a minute or so it comes up with a message on the camera's display that there is no connection.
I tried plugging in my camera to a different computer and it worked fine so it's not the USB or device so I think there's something wrong with the laptop, but i can not decipher what.
I have tried using several different driver programns to try and find the problem but they have not been able to find anything.
Any ideas?

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate. I need to use wireless keyboard. When I use bluetooth device it can detect my keyboard but it is unable to stablish the connection with keyboard. I can't understand what is the problem. The required driver is installed successfully. How can I fix this problem?

A:How to stablish connection with wireless device

This is not really a networking question. So you may want to move this to the appropriate forum.

But you say it is Bluetooth. Please post the make and model of your computer and the make and model of the keyboard.

Although there are Bluetooth keyboard most wireless keyboard use a USB receiver and not Bluetooth. So we need to know what make and model to make sure it is Bluetooth.

It has a wireless card in it but, I don't have a wireless access point. It is the only network device listed in the device manager. I have tried opening the bios but there is no way to enable/disable the integrated nic. I was not able to find any of the integrated devices in the bios. I tried flashing the bios to the newest version. That did not help any.

How do I get Vista to see the wired nic?

We have some symbol windows mobile-based handheld devices that we use in our business.  We connect these devices to our computers to copy files to.  This all worked fine until recently the devices come up as failed.
It appears in device manager with a yellow exclamation point.
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged.  (Code 19)
I've tried all the solutions I can find on the web and none of them work.
Uninstall the device in device manager and scan for changes.  It downloads the driver from windows-update and returns to code 19.
Tried hardware troubleshooter which basically seems to automate the process of uninstalling and scanning.
I've tried removing windows media player 12 feature and adding it back.
I've tried deleting USB controllers from Device Manager and rebooting, it re-detects them all and still gets code 19 on the device.
I've tried deleting upper and lower filter values in the registry which I found out later is mainly for CD/DVD devices, that didn't fix anything.
I've tried removing and re-installing Windows Mobile Device Center and driver pack and that did not fix it either.
Additionally Canon Powershot camera gives us similar results.  MTP USB Device failed.
This is so far happening on 3 of our workstations that we know of.
At first we thought it was due to windows updates but nothing recent has been installed that looks rela... Read more

Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums.

Do you have Kaspersky installed? Kaspersky Filter driver caused that any USB device could not connect.

It is suggested to have a look at the following registry. Make a backup of it and remove the Upperfilters setting:

“Upperfilters” = klfltdrv

If the issue persists, please find a working machine and compare the registry settings.

I am at wits end.  My Win 7 based PC will not connect to the internet (yellow exclamation point over the tray icon) but shows connected to the network.  I have a Win 8 based laptop and am using it without issue.  Occasionally, I also get the blue screen of death - I assume from a driver that starts up and craps out.  Apparently, my rescue disk is bad, so I don't have that option.
The internet connection works fine in Safe mode.
Appreciate any help!

My desktop computer with Windows 7 started giving me this message about a month ago, and I could not get internet access. I used my cell phone to google the issue. I tried all of the recommended fixes (checking proxy settings, etc) but it still did not work. I did a system restore and got back on the internet, BUT, it continues to happen again every day or so, and again I have to do a system restore. Could anyone tell me WHY this is happening and how to fix the problem? Thanks.

I thought this would be simple.
All I want to do is automatically launch Samsung KIES when I connect my phone.
The autoplay window opens when I connect the phone and shows the device, I can select 'view more autoplay options... ' from the list and open the control panel autoplay window where the device is listed. When I select the device I get the dropbox with various options to sync files, download immages etc. But there is no option to launch linked programs.
I know this can be done because my camera automatically launches lightroom when it is connected.
So how do I do this?

Just spent 3 hours searching for an answer.

A:automatically launch software on connection of device

Click Type the word: autoplay. Click the top result. In the window that pops up, scroll down to devices. For your phone, choose the action you want to happen every time.

A:Will the Pc1x1 connection limit the speed of this Device

It really depends on the drive(s) you are connecting to it. The PCIE-1x slot if (1.0) will have a single direction max rate of aprox 266MB/s and if (2.0) 532MB/s.

This will be fine for 7200rpm Hard Disks but if you were planning on one or more 500MB/s SSD's then the bus-width would limit you.

The devices only claim to be compatible with a PCI-E x1 (2.0) interface.
