V570 'unauthorized battery'

Q: V570 'unauthorized battery'

Recently purchased a V570 laptop lightly used, preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium, with original battery. Energy Management program icon in tray said 'no battery installed',when it was ! I downloaded a different version of Energy Management (after deleting the other)--with theintention and hope of using the 'Power Management Options' utility that I have with myother laptop, a G580.The download was successful, save for the fan dust extractor missing (ggrrrr)...but thebattery-life option setting (59%) WILL NOT HOLD, and in 'battery info' it says 'unauthorizedbattery'.... when it is definitely the original battery. Now I'm not even sure it's charging,as the previously indicated charge of 100% is now is now showing 99% .I want to get a battery power-saving setting ! What's going on here?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

Hi. I was wondering if the default Energy Management battery setting of 50% can be changed on the Lenovo V570. I keep the laptop plugged in almost all of the time, and the popup suggests using the setting that keeps the battery at 50% all the time. That's fine in terms of not over stressing the battery, but if I need to unplug the laptop, I'd rather have a fuller charge than only 50%. I'd read that ThinkPads can be set to 90% or other settings. Is that possible with the V570?

A:Battery setting on V570?

ThinkPad Power Manager has more settings in it than Energy Management.  The older versions of Energy Management were set to 80% for battery lifetime.

About the only thing I know to do would be to change the setting to battery runtime and charge the battery to 80 or 90% and then change the setting back to battery lifetime.  Your battery should only degrade naturally about 1% a day.  Not very elegant, but it works.

I experimented with various versions of Energy Management in a U160 and they all worked okay except for the newest one.  (It said I had an illegal battery).

Keep in mind that the Hotkeys utility is incorporated into Energy Management, so changing the version might mess up the hotkeys.  If you do change the version, you have to make sure to uninstall the old version first or you'll end up with two Energy Management icons in the taskbar and neither one will work.  (I did that too.)

Hello all, I have a Lenovo V570 that is I believe 4 years old. Everything on it works great still, except for one thing. If the power cord comes out so the computer is on battery power, if the screen moves even just a little bit, the computer shuts down. If it is not on battery power though, I can move the screen as much as I want without it shutting down. I had opened the laptop to see if something was messed up but couldn't see anything obvious. Anybody seen an issue like this before? Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you!

I bought this Z710 new but I get a message saying "The battery is unauthorized". Also the battery indicator stays at "0% available (plugged in, not charging)." If I unplug the power cord, the laptop powers off cold. It has always been this way. This is a problem for me because I want to upgrade my BIOS but I can't because I get an error stating "Battry is too low (0 < 30 ). Please charge your battery to 30%." when I try. How do I get this laptop to start interacting with its battery? I have already tried taking it out and putting it in again and rebooting.

A:Unauthorized battery. May pose a threat to safety

Hello, anyone? Is this a manufacturer's defect? As I said, the battery appears not to work at all. The laptop must remain plugged in always to work, and the battery never charges even slightly when plugged in. The error message "Unauthorized battery. May pose a threat to safety" appears after Windows has loaded and the various operating system tasks are starting. Is there a workaround?

First, you guys are great as I had an issue back in 08 which you helped me with. You provide a wonderful service and all of us really appreciate what you do! Anyway, I don't know what I picked up on my computer but it looks like classic signs of some kind of hijack virus. Here are the symptoms: 1) I received a notification from McAfee Security Center on my computer that an outside request to access my contact list was attempted. Has happened 3 or 4 times over the last several days. 2) When I boot up I get warnings from both Ad-Watch and McAfee Security that attempts to change my registry are occurring. Here are the details: "attempt to alter a protected object"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, software\microsoft\current\version\policies\explorer, value: BindDirectlyToPropertyStorage, data:0, new data:0. Second change is to Google Toolbar Notifier. Third change is to McAfee Registry. 3) I am receiving notifications from McAfee Security Center that my "computer is not protected". When I open it indicates that both the Computer & Files section and Email & IM sections are unprotected. This oddly enough only happens late at night like it is set to disable McAfee at a certain time each day. Just a guess. 4) Of course the computer is crazy slow in some cases and when I open my Task Manager, I am using 98% of my memory. This computer has 6GB of RAM and it should never be that high. It looks like much of the memory is being used by IE ... Read more

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of your problem.  Unfortunately, due to the ease in which laptops can be stolen, the BIOS passwords can not be cleared like they can on a desktop model.  There is no master password or back door in which to enter the BIOS and clear the passwords so the only alternative would be to replace the motherboard.  Keep in mind passwords are case sensitive and you may have used both upper and lower case letters.

I have a V570, running windows 7, that up till now hasn't given me any issues. It was acting up some last night, so I decided to reboot it. After it shut down, the screen stayed black, and nothing loaded up. Shut it down using the power button, and tried restarting it. Power button light comes on, the three little lights on left front corner are lit, but that's it. Screen stays black, and nothing else happens. I've tried the power reset trick, no difference. Even tried unplugging the memory cards and hard drive, as I saw that on another forum, no change there either. Any ideas what to look for or try next?

Hi everyone, I have a battery issue with my V570 ideapad. While running on battery, when I pick up the computer by the corner, it suddenly shuts down. It seems that the battery is disconnected by a torque on the computer. This problem does not occur while I am plugged in. I have opened up the computer and looked at the connections, but I could not fix the problem. I have also tried to tape the battery on the chassis so it would not move, but the computer still shuts down when picked up.  Does anybody knows how to fix this problem?

A:V570 shuts down when picked up

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

I assume that your shut down problem on battery is only when you do a one hand carry?  If so, does the problem occur when you do a two hand carry?

A one hand carry is never a good idea as with some laptops the internal components can flex due to the hanging weight.  I've worked on some laptops that were flexed so much that components were popping off the motherboard.

Hey Gang:I have a four 1/2 year old V570 with 6GB of memory.  It runs kind of slow with a few windows open and was considering additional memory.  I don't know if an extra 2GB will move the needle handling wise.  Money is tight to go with a new laptop so I did a search on adding more memory and found this post that claims that they were able to use 16GB of memory in a V570.  Anyone here who actually knows something about this process, I not being very technocentric, and can comment on it's accuracy?  Here is what the guy posted he did to be successful adding the 16GB to his V570: I needed a laptop with 16gb of ram for some virtualization so I recently picked up a refurb V570 hoping that it would take 2x8gb sodimms.  There was a sale on Corsair ram last week so I ordered a pair and I installed it a couple days ago.  Memtest ran overnight (>12 hours) without any errors and I was able to boot Win7 without any issues.  I've been able to create a vm guest with 16gb of ram (overcommit) and run other apps so everything looks good. Ram used:  Corsair CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9 8GB 1X8GB DDR3-1333MHZ CL9-9-9-24 204PIN SODIMM Memory Kit Would be great if this worked and my V570 didn't spontaneously combust.  Thanks for any help.

A:V570 memory upgrade

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Although the specifications for your model state that 8 gigs is the maximum memory that can be installed other V570 owners have found out differently.  I'm sure you have seen the thread I posted below, but it does show that a 16 gig upgrade can be done in your model.  This discrepancy between the specifications and what can be actually done is not uncommon with computers.  One can only assume that when the specifications were written that either the 8 gig modules were hard to find or the writers of the specifications didn't realize the full potential of the chipset installed.

As for spontaneous combustion, I don't think that is a worry.  If your computer doesn't like the memory upgrade it will either not boot up or you will get blue screens in Windows.  If you are still uncomfortable with the upgrade then do a little more searching on the Internet to see what experience others had.

Yesterday I left my v570 on and went to do something else. When I returned a hour later it was power off and the little orange led on the power supply was blinking.  My laptop now does not want to power on, and the power supply blinks every time I plug it in. I have tested another power supply and it does the same. I have removed the battery and attempted to power up, same result. I have given it time to cool down or the likes with no luck. Does anybody have any ideas for me or do I need to scrap this and move on ? Thanks

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of the issue you are having.  Unfortunately the blinking light is not an error code so it is difficult to pin point where the problem maybe.  Try doing a reset by doing the following.....
1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 4. Re-install the battery and plug in the charger / adapter and try powering up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

I have a Lenovo V570. Since yesterday, at startup I error message that says "01011001 keyboard stuck key" briefly flashes on the screen and then the boot sequence continues. Quite often when I am at a log on screen, I get a series of asterisks, apparently indicating spurious entry of some key. It is sometimes difficult to delete all the spurious entries in order to enter the correct info. I opened a spreadsheet and the lower case u kept repeating. What was interesting was that the cursor bounced around on its own and entered u's in various cells. I've also noticed that the finger pad locks up until I press either the escape or control key. I've run a couple virus scans with negative results and also did a system restore to two weeks ago (long before the problem started) but the problem continues. I've also googled the error code but didn't come up with anything. I don't think anything got spilled in it. It was working fine several days ago and sat in my laptop bag next to my desk. It just suddenly started doing this out of the blue. Anyone have any idea what this means and how do I fix it?

Starting from this morning, when I type, especially if I type very quickly or a lot, my keyboard will start adding random back slashes (\) into my words. And often if I open notepad or other text areas (address bar, instant message windows, etc), it'll start a long line of back slashes and won't stop until I press the backslash key, and even then sometimes it only stops it for a few seconds before it starts back up again. There are also times (like this moment), where everything is normal. I have a V570 1066ARU. According to the store, this is an IdeaPad laptop, but when I look for drivers (to see if I could maybe uninstall my keyboard and reinstall), it was just under Lenovo rather than ThinkPad or IdeaPad. With the drivers, I am not very experienced, and nothing specifically said keyboard, so I may have missed something. I have tried taking the key off, and it still happened. I have cleaned under the key, I have restarted my computer many times and have done multiple virus and spyware checks (including a bootscan). I'm running out of ideas on how to fix this. I start college in the fall and I definitely cannot afford a new laptop and I doubt I'd be able to get this fixed anywhere. The worst part is that when the key randomly presses itself, I can't use my trackpad until it stops. So, really, any ideas on how I could fix this? Or is it just broken? Everything else still works fine.

My 2011 V570 has been temperamental for a while now.  Painfully slow, occasionally unresponsive, "aw snaps," desktop manager fails, unable to load shockwave flash, error lenovo service bridge and overall frustrating performance.  I'm going to attempt a factory reset by formatting the drive and reinstalling the software.  If anyone has done this and can advise that would be great.   I was also curious if I should be updating drivers, which ones and how to go about this process.Thanking anyone answering in advance and Happy New Year!

A:Any advice doing a factory reset on a V570?

Lenovo support is a waste of time.Their team is not competent to answer your questions and also they are careless..... I will not buy Lenovo again

Since you have not indicated the processor used I can't give you much detail. If you base it only on the specs you can only use 2 sticks or module with a max rating of 1333 Mhz each depending on the processor. As to the other specs details you have to locate the specs of the processor that you are using in the intel site. There you will know whether you can use 1600 Mhz plus other details. One thing for sure is that the max that you can use is 16 GB only if the processor allows it since you can't find a 16 GB module in the market to achieve 32 GB per processor spec.

I have a lenovo v570 had it for 3 years i need a longer charger the charger that came with it has a short reach i have my laptop on while i sleep and watch shows. the charger i use bends so it bent my charger socket got that fixed but to avoid it happening again i need a longer cord whats a good charger that has a longer reach

A:help finding better charger lenovo v570

It's not a good idea to use a different manufacturer's adapter if you can help it. Why not lengthen the AC cord instead?

Here's a 12 foot AC cord that should fit your adapter:

800-18-39B-BL-0012F CNC Tech | 1175-1505-ND | DigiKey

They are available, and you might even be able to find one locally. I believe that Digi-Key has offices all over the place, so you should be able to order it from them and have it delivered to you.

Hi I'm having some troubles connecting 2 external monitors to my v570 laptop. When I connect the first one through a hdmi to dvi cable it works good to exten the screen between both the laptop screen and the external. When I try to connect the second monitor through vga to vga it automatically disables the first monitor and enables the second monitor. It won't give me an option to enable both monitors plus the laptop screen. Can anyone give me some insight on what might be causing this issue.

Hi, when I botted my laptop I let the ee optimizer(an optimization program from lenovo) to optimize my laptop then I got BSOD with the following error;

STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFFFFF880009AA000,0X0000000000000000,,0XFFFFF800032766FA,0X0000000000000000)

I cant boot in safe mode . The only thing that I can boot is "launch startup repair". I ran repair,

Please help

Greetings, I have a V570 updated to W10. I started having some trouble with some drivers and errors, so decided to run Ccleaner to try reset to original state. After that i restored the computer erasing everything. Now i have W10 reinstalled and updated, but keep getting errors: MSASCuiL.exe - Application ErrorThe application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application.RAVCpl64.exe - Application ErrorThe application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application.MSASCuiL.exe - Application ErrorThe application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application. If i try to open Defender i get MSASCui.exe Application Error. Some apps i downloaded (Lenovo suport and updates) only run if i set it as administrator. These apps didnt find anything. If i check on Storage, C drive has like 20 gigas filled, but D Lenovo drive has 0.I have no antivirus installed and is like the 3rd time i restore to 0. I ran Lenovo Service Bridge and nothing found. Any ideas? could it be the D drive has erased? Is there a way to download whatever W10 needs of this original partitioned software, so it runs ok again?

I have a V570 Notbook with its original optical hard drive, which is giving some trouble.  I want to change to a solid state drive, which I have already purchased and can attach to a USB port.  Repeated attempts to clone to that disk have failed.  What is the best way for me to get my system, programs, and files over to that disk?  My OS is Widnows 7 Professional (64-bit).

I'm having a difficult time finding ANY update information relating to Windows 10 for my Lenovo V570. The V580 appears on several "update" and "download" pages on Lenovo's site.....but nothing for the 570. Has my laptop passed some sort of critical "age barrier" that I'm not aware of? This page, for exampe: http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/downloads/ds014924, is a place where you can download the Power Manager utility for your Lenovo laptop.........UNLESS you own the V570. The 580 is there, but NOT the 570.Did I not get the email announcing that my laptop is over the hill? (Yeah, I know, that page says for Win 7 computers....but Lenovo doesn't know what OS I'm running!!) To make matters worse, THIS page (and many other Lenovo pages) invite me to click a button to "Automatically scan your system and get the latest available updates". Problem is, when I CLICK the Start Scan button...I get an error that says "Your system is not supported for system updates". Again, I must have missed the email. To add insult to injury, there is, apparently no way to contact an actual Lenovo employee to ask the question: WHEN DID YOU STOP ALL SUPPORT FOR THE V570??? Disappoinging, Lenovo.....to say the least.

Hi there,I recently purchased a new Lenovo IdeaPad v570 from Best Buy. I have had problems with boot-up. The boot-up time is slow for a new computer (usually a minute) and I also have found things in the Event Log that don't look too good. Before this, I had also had problems with startup. It said it needed to do a Startup Repair, and would not go to login screen. I fixed it by going to safe boot, and going to reboot with last used settings that worked. Anyways, that hasn't happened for a while now. Here is my most current boot log, tell me if you find anything strange:Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance/Operational

A:Lenovo v570 Boot Up Problems?

Are you saying the only problem is that the system takes 1 minute to boot? If so, don't worry about it. And do yourself a favor - stop timing the boot and shut down times ;)
