BSOD impossible to fix by myself?

Q: BSOD impossible to fix by myself?

It's been almost a week, I've had BSOD came up randomly once throughout the day, then the second day, it happened multiple times. I tried calling Microsoft support for help by speaking to their agents and after following their troubleshooting process, my laptop became worse to the point where I couldn't even get past the login screen and my correct password was seen as an incorrect password. I tried system restore, rebooting in safe mode, and a factory reset and the problem persisted. I asked Microsoft Support what to do next and they said my only option was a clean installation of Windows which required another PC and USB Drive. Haven't been using my PC for days until now.

I then called MSI and they told me the same thing, otherwise I had to go get it sent to a technician or mail it to them to get it fixed. Two days ago, I then did the clean installation of Windows as suggested using the creation media tool, downloaded all of the necessary drivers for the model of my laptop and there was no BSOD error while I was getting my PC up to date. I tried rebooting to see if BSOD would come up again and it seemed fixed. Today (first time using my laptop since I did the clean installation and downloading and installing necessary drivers), I downloaded Discord successfully and then tried downloading Firefox through Internet Explorer (what I'm using right now) within several minutes after starting my laptop, and before I was able to download Firefox from their website, the BSOD came up. Right now, I didn't bother taking that risk again of downloading Firefox (while I still have Discord app running in the background currently), but I'm sure the BSOD will still come up again eventually. I tried calling Microsoft Support again, and they tried getting me to pay for some repair service which I refused.

My question is, is it still possible for me to repair it by myself with this website's help or am I forced to send it in for a professional to repair?

My specs:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 158 Stepping 10

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

The Bluescreens i get are completely at Random, sometimes my computer crashes before i can even log on, other times it can run for a day without a crash.
but lately ive only been getting the before-log on crash.

Attatched are the two folders i could get before it crashed. it seems to not like when i try fixing my computer.

The newest stuff is in minidump.rar i think.
i couldnt click fast enough to get a brand new one.

My Computer's about a year or two old, its been not used for months because of the bluescreens.
Its A Acer Gateway DX4831
it has 1TB of HDD and 6GB of ram, it Runs on windows 7 home premium and i have done two clean reinstalls already.
if was running on something different at first, it was still windows 7, the bluescreens started happening ages ago so i cant really determine what could of started them.
but i do remember the fact that it started with one blue screen every once in awhile, then they started to build up.
Im not very educated in fixing computers, so if i am told to do something i might need instructions on how to do so.
it is a 64 bit
what else..Its never been anything other than a acer gateway, and its been under a week since the last clean reinstall.
ive tried numerous amounts of things. During the clean reinstall i would constantly get bluescreens
I will post updates if anything happens.

the only things i could get [i apologize]

When I boot into windows 7 I see this:
STOP:0x0000007b (0x80786b50,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) and safe modes do not work.
I do not have a disk drive but I do have f3 recovery (don't know if you need the disk of recovery) and I do have access to another pc.
I can only go to startup repair options (because startup repair could not find the problem) I have access to cmd but not system restore because I turned off system restore.
I posted this a few days ago with a different title and all I got was a link that did not help me at all.

Hi all

I have had this problem for a couple of months and it is driving me crazy . The problem has also evolved somewhat. It started with what seemed like power issues and so I bought a brand new 530W PSU. Since then I have done a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro SP1- twice. Updated the BIOS. Updated all the drivers I could find that were slightly old. I have swapped out the graphics card; swapped out the RAM (DDR3); swapped out the mobo for identical model. I have even bought a new SSD and installed W7ProSP1 on that. It now starts nice and fast - but still unstable. I get 3 types of failure:

1. BSODs. dumps show various errors - not all the same.
2. Lock-up / Freeze - have to power off/on (no logs/dumps).
3. Random resets where the system acts as though the reset button was pressed. (no logs/dumps).

I am at a complete loss. Seems that the only thing I haven't swapped out is the CPU.

I have followed the instructions for attachements - please note that the system froze twice and I had to power off/on and re-run the program. Worked third time around. I have attached relevant files. I have also attached a screenshot of various system stats to give a better idea of my setup.

I really hope that someone here specializes in the impossible. This has cost me a fortune in time and money - and hair I REALLY need some help here. I have done everything I know how to and I am still lost.

TIA guys.

I have a relatively new Dell XPS 410 running Windows XP Media Center Edition. I am extremely exasperated over a problem that seems unfixable. Every time I start the computer, I get a pop-up appearing right before the user log on screen. It says "Fixed" and will not let me exit out, so I can only perss "OK" to bypass it. The log on screen is normal and any user can be selected to log on. But, when selcted to log on, it loads personal settings, flashes the desktop and immediately logs off and saves the settings. I can not get to the desktop, so I can not scan for viruses or delete files. I really don't want to hear the computer is forever inoperable. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi! I'm new here -- noticed that a few people had the same problem I'm having with IE Pop-Ups, so I thought I'd look for some help. Spyware scans and pop-up stoppers couldn't cut it and my virus scanner finds nothing wrong.

Though I can only check back here every now and then, and not on the weekends (I apologize in advanced for slow replies), I was hoping that someone might have some ideas on where to go to fix this!

Hey guys it's me again with my annoying and those that seem to be impossible-to-fix-problems.

Well 3 months ago i bought an AMD 5600+ Dual Core and i had lots of problems since then, believing it was defective, i wrote to AMD support and requested an RMA. My replacement arrived today. It fixed LOTS of random crashes and my computer was able to boot up properly with both rams placed on in dual channel. I went to play on Soulstorm, it crashed, sometimes half way through a game or sometimes about 5 minutes into the game. I went on another game which is Company of Heroes, it crashed too.

The only reason i tested these 2 games was because they crashed most of the times when i had the defective processor.I thought it was the RAM but i thought it wouldn't make any sense because while waiting for my replacement to arrive, i put in my old AMD Athlon 3500+ and it worked fine with EVERY SINGLE games so it couldn't be the RAM and it can't be the replacement either. Not knowing what else to do, i took one stick of ram out, and guess what? It worked like a charm ! I really have no idea what's going on inside but if anyone had been through this or anyone who knows how to fix please help and....ermm if it works you'll be able to rest assured that a person on earth is grateful and just wants to kill you with hugs XD

Can anyone make sense of this? How did this copy come to be working on this computer?

I'm currently wanting to do a clean install but I can't because I can't workout what happened in the past

A:How is this even impossible?

Sounds like you may have an OEM System Builder versions of Windows 8. It is intended to be installed by someone or a company building a new computer that is to be resold. That particular version includes a personal use license which allows anyone to buy an OEM System Builder copy of the software and install it on a (new or old) PC that is intended for personal use. It should have come with an installation key.

I have a folder in my external terabyte that appeared some time ago. I can not delete it with any software. I tried to delete with DOS and it says all the same. The problem is that it will not let me downgrade it to a write-able format. It seems to be locked in READ ONLY status. I have attempted to take ownership of the drive and the files, but I can not get rid of it. When I first noticed it, it was random letters. When I tried to delete the file it turned into many many "Z's". When I ran the DOS delete protocol it changed into 6 "Z's"; with in that folder is a empty folder called "Update". Since then I have not been able to do anything about it. I don't know what to do. I even downloaded a program called Delete on Boot, and still no success. I have been coming here for about a year when I caught the Rogue Internet Security 2010. It was since then, 12/30/09 the day that i reformatted to yield to the virus's victory that the file first appeared in the external hard drive. I am wits end and I know someone out there can help me. How this file happend to get on my cpu...

I have tried...
safe mode method.
cmd-manual deleting method.
MoveOnBoot method.
I have even done all of those methods with the HD booted as a slave.

any suggestions plz reply.

A:Ive Tried. Impossible to Delete!

Here is a simple procedure

Sometimes you want to delete a file but when you do so an error message pops and tells you it cannot be done. Do successfully delete such a file do the following:

Open a Command Prompt window and leave it open.

Close all open programs.

You now need to close EXPLORER.EXE. The proper way to shutdown Explorer is to raise the "Shut Down Windows" dialog (select "Shut Down..." from the start menu), hold down CTRL+SHIFT+ALT and press the CANCEL button. Explorer will exit cleanly.

Note: The <CTRL+SHIFT+ALT> at the 'Shut Down Windows' dialog method of closing Explorer is built into Explorer. (It was specifically designed so that developers writing Shell Extensions could get Explorer to release their Shell Extension DLLs while debugging them).

Go back to the Command Prompt window and change to the directory where the undeletable file is located in. At the command prompt type DEL <filename> where <filename> is the file you wish to delete.

Go back to Task Manager, click File, New Task and enter EXPLORER.EXE to restart the GUI shell.

Close Task Manager.

(Tip modification submitted by James R. Twine who has a great utility called Delete FXP Files that can help you delete files and folders that simply won't go away).

I'm updating a Qosmio G50-12F PQG55E-04C02YFR
The BIOS Version is 2
Windows version : 7 Pro 64

I've replaced the 2 original 2GO RAM sticks by 2 4G0 compatible RAM sticks.

I've tried to update the BIOS from the Toshiba support site, but the only available version doesn't support my computer (message when I try to install it).

The current BIOS indicates 8GO.
CPUZ indicates only 4GO
Windows indicates 8GO installed, 4GO available.

I've already tried to put only one stick, then the other (all is normal with only one 4GO memory stick), I've checked the BIOS parameters as indicated in forums and configuration panel parameters too.

Has some one a clue?

Hello boys and girls. About one year ago, my 500GB Western Digital MyBook hard drive died when I unplugged it from my motherboard. It lived a long life. It was time for it to die. I figured maybe a power surge killed it since I didn't "Safely remove the hardware". The computer it died on was built by myself. It was an Asus motherboard and a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS. I was convinced that my data was lost, so I bought a 500GB Toshiba Canvio portable USB drive in the color black. I plugged it into a rear USB 2.0 port. It was recognized for about three seconds, and then Windows displayed a yellow popup from the bottom right corner of the taskbar saying "The device has malfunctioned". A new hard drive? Come on. I brought it downstairs to my dads Vista machine, and it worked just fine. I scratched my head, and for kicks, I tried my "dead" MyBook on the same machine. It worked! I could see all my data!

After this, I figured it was a bad motherboard. Since none of the ports on the computer were working with it. (Mind you, mice, flashdrives, printers, keyboards, hubs, etc. were all functioning fine on the system). It was ONLY mass storage USB devices that were not working. I waited about a year and built a new computer. New EVERYTHING. Windows 7 OS, Asus motherboard, and all that good stuff. I was so excited to finally be able to use my USB hard drive again. I missed my data. But... It didn't work. It makes the usb "Bee-boop" but will no... Read more

I am still having wierd problems with my computer. It all started, when I installed Roxio Media creator 7 ( and than un-installed it cause it gave me problems.) It put in the standard VGA driver, and my graphics accleleration was dead slow. After re-installing the video driver, it is better, but still abnormally sluggish, It is a nice card, a ATI Radeon 9000 w/ 128 MB or RAM. There was a second monitor, but I removed it for troubleshooting. The PC has plenty of HD space, 1 GB of 333 RAM, and a 2.4 GHX CPU. It is running XP Pro. The motherboard is an Amptron 94-935ALU w/ a SIS651/962L chipset. I am a certified tech and have optimized it quite well. (No virus, spyware, de-fragged, etc.)
When I open my first webpage after sign on or switching screen names, it takes like 7 minutes to load. It starts with "downloading from site", than it goes back to "starting downloading from site", and it takes forever. It usually opens pages normally after that, but not always. Same thing happens even afterwards, if I start IE. And when I load WinMX, it starts scanning for shared files(1000's) and gets stuck in the place. It takes like 5 minutes to load. (It stops responding, will sometimes turn "white". Same thing with K-lite, like blocks of it are missing, the graphics are all screwed up; it takes 6 minutes to load. (Could it be something with frames?). Same thing loading Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004. And some programs I install, take an u... Read more

I have a Speedtouch Modem and a Belkin Wireless Router. I get an average speed, although it has dropped lately.

I bought a Belkin 'N' Wireless Router+Modem. It would not make a connection to my ISP.
I have spent HOURS [Literally] on the phone with Belkin Techs and my ISP.
Changed settings - patched etc etc etc.
Belikin replaced the Router+Modem with an N+. SAME RESULT AS ABOVE.

A retailer lent me a NetGear G Router+Modem - SAME RESULT AS ABOVE.

Today a telephone engineer came and checked my line for faults. FINE. A1.

Now, my Speedtouch with Router WORKS.

So...EVERYONE says it's impossible that the others DO NOT work.

I'm told that if you simply plug a modem into any phone point with ASDL- you will get an ASDL light. I don't with the new stuff.

My friend does.

What I'm experiencing is impossible - but is it ?

The men in white coats will soon be here. Help.

This is going to be a long post. I'll start from the beginning.

Windows 7 (64 bit premium) came to my door today. I put it in my disc, logged on to my windows xp account. A pop up came up saying, "close any programs still on xp". So i googled how to do that, and it said to wipe my fdisk. I opened the console and did so, but that it didn't know if it was an external or internal command. So i googled another way to do it, and it get compmgmt.msc as a command to enter into my start>run thingy. I do that, and i go to disk management. Then i went to format, and hit the start button (not on the bottom of the screen, the little pop up window from format). Then it tells me i need to go to safe mode. I did, and went to the command prompt safe mode. I typed in fdisk, but got the same message as before. I hit restart, and went into regular safe mode. The other places i read about said to do it in administrator. The administrator had never been there before, and had just popped up. I hit enter on the password to see if it would go, but it wouldnt. so i hit restart, but this time windows 7 started up instead. Then i got stuck and froze my computer, so i restarted again. Then this message popped up before i get to the loading screen:

windows could not start becasue the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>\system\hal.dll.
please reinstall the above file.
now i've lost the windows xp disk, and many other websites have told me to just :re... Read more

A:impossible to get from windows xp to 7

You can't start setup from Windows. And you can't format the drive from which you are running Windows, any more than you can dig a hole in the ground you are standing on. You need to boot from the DVD and then remove the partitions when you have the option. After that, just follow the prompts.

There is no "fdisk" in Windows since around 10 years ago and it shouldn't be used on modern systems. Partitioning and formatting are part of setup. There are no messages from Windows 7 setup that mention fdisk, ever.

This is probably not the right place to ask, but does anyone know of a simple way of saving to a file in My Documents (for later burning) a piece of music that's playing on my computer from a CD in the drive or something downloaded from the net?

Ideally I'm looking to have a software icon in my taskbar which I can click to start recording something I'm listening to on my computer.

I would really appreciate any help with this.

A:The Impossible Dream? Is It?

There are applications that can do this. One that I know of is Virtual Audio Cable. I've used it and it works well, but it cost's $30.A free alternative may be the LineIn Plugin for WinAmp, though I've never tried it.Please note that using such applications for copyright infringement is a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (in the USA) and/or equivalent national laws outside the USA.

I recently had a bunch of viruses that messed up my entire computer.
I ran a bunch of spyware/malware scans and they found a bunch of things.

I ran an AVG scan, and it told me to restart so I did.
When it turned back on, nothing would load.
No start menu, no taskbar, no desktop icons, just a background.
The Task Manager says it's been disabled by the administrator.

This happens even in safe mode, and I can't get into the administrator account.

How exactly do I fix this problem? Is it even possible to fix this problem?
it's extremely frustrating.

by the way, I'm using XP professional.

Hello Deee,I see that you have an HJT log posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/208223/hijackthis-log-something-about-win32/ We do not allow more than one topic for the same computer and the same issue as this causes confusion, and in this case may make the disinfection process more difficult. This leaves you with a choice:1) Have this thread reopened and the HiJack This log topic deletedOR2) Keep this thread closed and wait for assistance in the HiJack This log forum. Please note that that forum is VERY busy. Please send a Private Message indicating your choice.Assuming you wish assistance in the HiJack This forum, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possibl... Read more

A few months ago (April 2000), I ENCRYPTED a *.zip-file with the PGP-freeware (hope u heard of it). I wrote down my pass-phrase and de-installed the PGP-software a few weeks later, but let the file (xxx.zip.pgp) encrypted. Now I am in urgent need of this file I encrypted with the PGP software, but I CAN NOT DECRYPT IT with the current PGP software!!!! WHY?!?! I installed PGP-freeware 6.58, which is the latest one, and made EXACTLY the same passphrase like I did, to encrypt the data, but everytime I try to double-click the "xxx.zip.pgp"-file, PGP opens up a little window, telling me that my no pass sentence or something like that could be found! And when I click on the "unknown"-line in this window, the program tries to connect to a server, but everytime I get a "Server-error"! THIS SUCKS!
How do I DECRYPT a file which has been ENCRYPTED a few months ago, when another version of PGP was used?

Hello, I have an application that needs port 1176 open for others to connect to me (I'm pretty sure thats how it works)

I have a D-link DI-524 and have followed the portforward website perfectly but, still no luck.
Nobody can connect to my server, my server isn't even detecting other people trying to connect to it.

I used www.canyouseeme.org and I get
Error: I could not see your service on *ip adress* on port (1176)
Reason: Connection refused

This is happened to me many times for as long as I can remember, only some times it will actually let me port forward certain things. Can anyone share some information to get me on the right track and possibly fix this problem?

This computer was recently used to look for a certain video online, and, unsurprisingly, it got a virus and/or some spyware. My homepage gets redirected to a million spyware protection sites (which seem like they're the hijackers themselves) and I'm having a hard time fixing it. So far I've run CW Shredder, Spybot S&D, and Adaware. The last two seemed to help, but adaware was unable to delete one of the trojans and the problem is still there.

My hard drive failed a few months back, turned it on one day and got a series of clicks and chirp sounds and it was dead. I tried a couple things suggested on here but none of them helped and ended up installing windows on a new drive. I recently found an indentical model number to the one I have on ebay(a Hitachi Deskstar for a Dell). When I receive it, I'll plug it in to make sure it works, then i'm going to attempt a disk swap between the two. I had to find a funky size torx bit for the outer screws and now I see the disk is attached with another torx that is a bit smaller so i'll need one of those too. I know this should be done in a clean room and even then it's supposed to be a hit or miss and it's likely not to work. I figured i'd give it a shot for the $28 it costs for the new drive with shipping. Am I wasting my time or do I have a slim chance of being successful? And no, I hadn't made any backups from that drive, partly because of the crappy NEW Pioneer dvd-r drive I had returned just before this happened(a couple others posted issues in this forum regarding that model also around the same time I did).

Hey guys,
I've got a really weird issue and and to be honest am running out of ideas. I was infected with the claro malware this past week which was easy enough to clear up and is completely gone. I noticed this past day that Im pulling a wrong network configuration:
Host IP - (not actual) on my laptop
DHCP server -
Default Gateway -
My DNS servers are correct, my usual scope is 192.168.0.x and gateway of
I can access the internet like usual without issue but can't rdp to any LAN pc's (obviously because of the subnet)
I did a netsh int ip reset command without any success and am kind of at a loss of what to do.
The claro maleware may have nothing to do with it but since it has to do with network settings I figured it was definitely a possibility but it is definitely 100% gone, all of my network settings should be reset to default, I definitely do not have any rogue DHCP servers on my network even though with the default gateway being wrong and still having access to the internet I don't see how that could be it anyway. If any one has any ideas I would be extremely grateful.

Thank You

I haven't installed any toolbars or free programs recently.

I've checked Firefox Add Ons and there's nothing fishy there.
Any idea how to make them go away?

A:impossible uninstall

Have you tried going into C:\program files\Snagit? You can delete the program directly from the program files directory or wherever it may have installed (program files is the standard). If its currently running, kill it from the cntrl-alt-del menu and delete the entire folder from programs. If you get access denied and either cant kill the process or dont know what it is, start in safe mode and delete it from the directory.

I'm having real problems with this and the guides online cover different parts but don't work.
1. I have windows xp
2. I want to install windows 7 64 bit
3. I do not have a dvd, it's on an external HDD
4. I want to instal windows 7 on a 2nd HDD and dual boot.

My first problem is that I get the 'We are unable to create or save new files in the folder which the application was downloaded'. Apparently this is because its 64 bit and I'm in XP. I need to boot from the USB drive and load the windows disk from there? Is that right? How do I do that without my normal XP booting? Can I boot from the USB and install on to the 2nd HHD?

A step by step approach would be amazing if someone could talk me through it? If it's not possible I can buy a blank dvd and burn it and remove my other HDDs, but that's a real pain.

Any help would be great
