I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi schlitz,Welcome to BC HijackThis forum. I am farbar. I am going to assist you with your problem. Please refrain from making any changes to your system (scanning or running other tools, updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might interfere with our fixes. Please let me know in your next reply if you agree with this.Looks this is a work computer and you are connecting to internet through a proxy server. Could you confirm this?

This small application you may want to keep and use to keep the computer clean.
Download CCleaner from here http://www.ccleaner.com/
Run the installer to install the application. When it gives you the option to install Yahoo toolbar uncheck the box next to it.Run CCleaner. (make sure under Windows tab all the boxes of Internet Explorer and Windows explorer are checked. Under System check Empty Recycle Bin and Temporary Files. Under Application tab all the boxes should be checked).Click Run Cleaner.Close CCleaner.

Note: Please don't use the registry cleaner of CCleaner or any other registry cleaner unless you know what you are doing.Check the following settings to default:Open Internet explorer > Tools menu > Internet options.Under privacy tab press default.Under security tab press default.Under Advanced tab press Restore advanced settingsNow try the SSL connections. If it didn't work proceed to the next step.Run Internet Explorer in "No Add-ons" Mode:Close Internet Explorer if it is running.Go to start > Run.Copy/paste in the run box: iexplore.exe -extoffClick OK or press Enter.See how Internet Explorer gets connected to secure sites in that mode.
Note: When you close Internet Explorer and restart it, it will again function in normal mode with all Add-ons

Hello All,First time posting, but have been using this site for a few years now, and you have all been greatly helpfulMy problem is that I can no longer connect to https sites such as facebook. I have tried with Google Chrome, IE, and Firefox. I also cannot connect to windows update at all, it fails every time. I went ahead and wiped my hard drive and installed a fresh install of vista (64), and the problem still persists. I have even noticed that I am unable to reinstall skype successfully after the wipe.I have no issues when using my laptop or my ipad, I can connect to anything with those, but am at my wits end as far as what to do to fix this problem on my pc.Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give meEdit: Moved topic from Vista to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hi all,
Our organisation uses Outlook 2007 with RPC over HTTPS (Outlook Anywhere) and it doesn't seem to work with Windows 7.

I have Windows 7 Beta 1 (Build 7000) and Outlook 2007 sp1 with all hotfixes. I've read in several places to use NTLM however this is not an options for us.

Has anyone identified the issue or know of a workaround??

A:Outlook 2007 RPC over HTTPS issue

this seems to be a pretty popular solution. I am having the same problem, but it works when I am onsite. I will try this solution when i get home

Quote:
Several of us at the office have been trying out the new Windows 7 - It?s been a positive experience so far and quite a bit faster than Vista. One problem popped up on all the machines - When we tried to configure Outlook 2007 to connect to our hosted exchange server (using the prf file so we knew it was configured right) it would continuously prompt for the password.
This appears to be the result of the way hosted exchange systems require the use of a full email as the username to differentiate between client domains. Windows 7 doesn?t care for this and the connection fails. It may take a bit of doing but if you find your domain name and username from your provider and enter it as follows:
Domain\Username
You?ll find it functions perfectly. The domain is not the domain name from your email it is something else - In our case I had to hit our server configuration and used the settings for configuring mobile activesync on my windows mobile device. Our provider happens to use a special username to differentiate it?s users. Once we found that we were happily reading emails again.

I am finding problem when i login to the application using Netscape Browser 8.1 with IE engine as selected(this is done by selecting Display like Internet Explorer), After logged in successfully, when i try to access a link which will open in another child window with https type of protocol the system is logged out automatically after several attempts, but other links with http type requests will works fine. If we test same process using Mozilla engine, https and http types are supported and child window will loads/render the page without any issue. I am using Windows XP as OS.
Can we fix this issue or is it a Netscape 8.1 browser issue with Internet Explorer engine.
Please review this and comment on our observation.

One question: Does it also happen with Opera and are you using IE 6 or IE 7? There are some ideas as to how to make IE7 run better, though don't know the address but found them in Google.

Hi,

I have an ongoing issue with regards the accessing of https site, e.g bank, Amazon, our business card gateway, eBay, backend of our website etc.

It all started when changing from a private ISP provider O2 to BT business broadband. We are running 3 PCs to of which are plugged directly into the router with the otherone running wireless. 2 PCs are running XP and the other Windows 7 64bit. We are using Explorer 7 8 and 9 and one PC doubled up using Firefox. We have tried resetting the SSL but it doesnt work and the problem when it starts is across all PCs including the smart phones using the network.
The access issue is random, one day we will be fine accessing all secure sites then the following day the problems may start. It is never all sites it just seems to be on a randon 2 or 3. The thing that seems to temp fix the problem is replace the BT router with a Belkin one (log is showing 'DHCPINFORM'), but give it a day or so and we have to switch them back to fix the problem. Sometimes a router reboot works but not all the time. The engineers have tested the line remote and have been in and tested the line with no fault and in fact running at a good speed of 17-18meg. I am going round in circles with the tech team on BT business?

Any ideas? Thanks

I've had a strange issue that may have been caused by upgrading to Noscript 5.1.6. I closed my Firefox earlier today and shortly afterwards re-opened it, with the notification that Noscript had updated. However I found that many other websites had become inaccessible. Paypal.com brought up a screen with a message like "found, return to gb/home", www.bbc.co.uk gave a "301 moved permanently" message, and many other websites only opened as blank pages. Closing and re-opening the browser several times did not fix the problem. My first suspicion was that Noscript's update had caused an issue, so I disabled it, which fixed the issue immediately. After re-enabling it there was still no problem.

In retrospect the URLs I was using were missing the "HTTPS" prefix that is automatically added (my link to "www.bbc.co.uk" ordinarily sends me to "https://www.bbc.co.uk/", "paypal.com" to "https://www.paypal.com/gb/home", etc), which makes me wonder if there was an issue with redirects.
Oddly, one website that loaded fine when all others I tried failed - https://www.redlettermedia.com/ - now returns a "Secure Connection Failed" message - "SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length." Notably, this also happens when I try and access it on my phone, outside of my home network.

I've run a scan with MBAM for good measure, which turned up nothing. The problem appears to be fixed apart from that one website; can anyone shed some light as to what may have happene... Read more

Please be patient: if you feel naked while you're waiting for the "brand new" NoScript, you can still use the "regular" NoScript 5.x (and all the other extensions of yours) on Firefox 52 ESR, which will receive security updates until June 2018. See you soon!

EDIT: Redlettermedia is not a secure site. I just went to it with no problem using Firefox 56 and NoScript enabled. I'm not
updating to 57 until NoScript is compatible. I did look at the scripting being blocked and didn't see anything malicious on
the redlettermedia.com home page.

I am having trouble with IE7 and https:// sites. I can open all http:// sites no problem. When it comes to https:// it will not work. Is this just a setting that got messed up somewhere?

A:Ie7 & https://

This is a c&p troubleshoot for https connect problems.

Verify that Internet Explorer Is Using 128-Bit Encryption:

In Internet Explorer, on the Help menu, click About Internet Explorer
The level of encryption on your computer appears next to the words Cipher Strength.
Verify that the Cipher Strength value appears as 128-bit
If the Cipher Strength is anything less then 128-bit, download the "Explorer Internet High Encryption Pack" to your computer's hard disk, and then install it.

Delete Temporary Internet Files
There's also a possibility of some corrupted files in your Temporary Internet Files (TIF) storage. You should clear these
In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and select the General tab
Under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files, and click OK when you are prompted to confirm the deletion

Configure Security settings for the Trusted sites zone in Internet Explorer:
In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and select the Security tab
Select Trusted sites, and then click Default Level
Add the secure Web site you are trying to access to the Trusted sites zone. To do so, click Sites, type the address (URL) of the site in the Add this Web site to the zone box
Click Add, click OK, and then click Apply

Clear the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) slate and AutoComplete history:
In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and select the Content tab

Security has always been critical to the web, but challenges involved in site migration have inhibited HTTPS adoption for several years. In the interest of a safer web for all, at Google we?ve worked alongside many others across the online ecosystem to better understand and address these challenges, resulting in real change. A web with ubiquitous HTTPS is not the distant future. It?s happening now, with secure browsing becoming standard for users of Chrome.

Today, we?re adding a new section to the HTTPS Report Card in our Transparency Report that includes data about how HTTPS usage has been increasing over time. More than half of pages loaded and two-thirds of total time spent by Chrome desktop users occur via HTTPS, and we expect these metrics to continue their strong upward trajectory.
Percentage of pages loaded over HTTPS in Chrome

As the remainder of the web transitions to HTTPS, we?ll continue working to ensure that migrating to HTTPS is a no-brainer, providing business benefit beyond increased security. HTTPS currently enables the bestperformance the web offers and powerful features that benefit site conversions, including both new features such as service workers for offline support and web push notifications, and existing features such as credit card autofill and the HTML5 geolocation API that are too powerful to be used over non-secure HTTP. As with all major site migrations, there are certain steps webmasters should take to ensure that search ranking tra... Read more

Hello.
I'm running W10 and IE11. Earlier my internet connection went down but now has come back up. There is a noise problem on my line and the disconnection is expected behaviour. But, since the connection came back my browser will only access https capable sites, no http. This is a pain because a lot of my Favourites are http only. As a matter of fact, even some https sites wont download. There are far too many of these instances to be just sites going down etc. Does this sound like a setting has changed somewhere, or maybe could the poor connection be causing an issue, even though everything was working as normal until the system went down for a while, and the noise problem is not new.
Cheers

A:https?

Oh dear, nope, it's not true, https connections are just for passwords, websites come across encrypted in https mode and decrypted when the site gets a handshake from your pc, it's just a more secure way of entering form info and passwords, but to be honest, if your computer isn't secure on the virus front, the https connection is irrelevant.

Hello,

I use the Citrix Web Client is connect to work and the comms is over https but quite often the incoming comms stops and so I have to close the client then try the original https URL again and get server timed out. My work nor my ISP how how to solve this.
My modem is a Linksys WAG200G with firmware 1.01.05. My browser and email still works, just seems my HTTPS stops. Any ideas please.

Try clearing your cache, Are you getting interrupts with your internet service? I believe Citrix will complain if your internet drops out while connected. Try running CCleaner, it will clear out all of your internet cache and other junk sitting on your machine.

www.ccleaner.com

Also you might want to run spyware scans. Download Windows Defender and Spybot search & destroy.

Well, I have the latest Firefox version and want to know why Firefox always lost the https connection with secure websites? In the latest version (36.0.1) it seems became worse than previous versions. What I'm saying is that websites that use https, in Firefox for some reason it can't stay with the secure navigation always on, because the lock icon became a ! (exclamation) icon and always says the webpage is not encrypted at all.

Other browsers don't do this and always stay with https on. So what's the problem with Firefox? I like this browser but this issue is pissing me of.

A:Question about https

No mistakes, and a good question that I also would like to know, mainly because I hadn't ever checked.
You are aware that many sites only use HTTPS for the secure logon and revert to none secure for the rest of the site.
I will have to check this next time I go to my bank site.

I can only access https websites, not http. I have tried pinging google and it works so I know my internet is working. I have tried restarting the computer, disconnecting and then reconnecting the internet and it still only lets me connect using https. When I try to visit a website with http it says the connection was reset. This happens in every browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera). How can I get my internet working properly again?

A:Only https no http

Temporarily disable whatever firewall you are using. If that solves the problem, it's a setting in the firewall that's causing it - possibly it's blocking port 80 which is the port used for browsing non-secure (http) pages.

The session log shows the following

1) Assuming I have my own web server, how difficult is it to set up an https page?

2) Is it possible to set up an https page so that (non-secure) http pages would load in a frame such that the insecure data gets transmitted securely?

The impetus for this is that I when I access certain webpages from work - my personal (web-based) e-mail being a prime example - I *really* don't like the thought that members of our corporate IT department have clear, unencrypted access to my (personal/private) e-mail/data/etc.

I know there are remote access programs that would allow me to tunnel in to my machine at home, but our firewall at work is very restrictive.

There must be some way to do this...

A:Questions about https

I don't believe that you can do what you want.
To setup the HTTPS you need either a certificate issued by an trusted authority, or you can generate one on your webserver and just have to "accept" the security warning everytime, or install it on every machine you want to "trust" the site. As far as encrypting the unsecured data, it stays unsecured unless you use vpn software (very difficult if you have ports blocked on a company firewall) ]

Maybe you could setup some type of remote desktop running on port 80 on your home machine. Then use your machine's browser to access your email. To do this may require software that your company may not allow.

Being one of "those" IT guys: (not to offend, just offer my two cents)

1. I wouldn't have time to even try to capture packets or screen shots of every person that works at my job.

2. Unless they were suspective of doing something (wasting company time, resources) not appropriate, would they even ask that this task be done.

3. Most companies let you know up front that they "can" and "will" go through electronic transmissions, but rarely would do something so drastic.

4. If you don't want people to "see" it, then maybe you could wait to do it at home or an internet cafe (which is far worse than your work!)

What I don't understand, is why your ISP webmail is not https anyway? Most ISP's with webmail use this to prevent giving out login information ... Read more
