I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm not sure about this, but i think it'd be tehnologically impossible to make a Serial optical mouse. I don't thinik the Serial Port would be fast enough.

Hi all, my computer is all fine and dandy now. Yea! Except for one thing.. I just went out and bought an Intellimouse optical and I installed it. It works and all except the two little side buttons. In the quickstart guide it lets me choose the mouse as the Intellimouse Optical but it only tells about it. Then in the Intellipoint software v4.0 it doesn't have the option to choose intellimouse opt only intellimouse. I'm thinking of downloading v4.1 but it has LOTS of bad reviews. What do i do?

Hi,

I bought Intellimouse optical yesterday. I installed the software. I prefer using Netcape
rather then the explorer. My mouse doesn't work that has the back and the forward on my
mouse. I clicked on explorer and It works. Which version of Netscape will I have to use for the
back and forward?

Thanks a lot,

A:Microsoft Intellimouse optical problem?

I have a Wireless Intellimous Explorer and all 5 buttons work in every program that uses a back function. A little advice: I don't use the forward button much, but do use the back. I changed the forward button to function as the close button... because I use that one a lot... works great. Back to your mouse... it is possible it doesn't work with netscape because microsoft made it... and you know how microsoft is. It really should work though, even if you are using netscape. Try upgrading to the latest version and maybe even upgrade your intellimouse software, if there is an upgrade. Also, make sure you have the correct mouse selected in the settings of your software. If you have the wrong one selected the regular left and right buttons should work without software because they are basic, standard functions.

I have been using this mouse for about a year now. I was just surfing on the net today when the mouse froze and would not work (light at the bottom did not light up like usual). I usually connect it to the computer with a PS/2 converter and decided to unplug it from the converter and just plug it in the computer, using its original USB plug and it worked.

However after every about 15 minutes it stops working, every 15minutes I would need to unplug the mouse from the USB port and reconnect again. I have tried my other USB ports, all did the same. Everytime it disconnects on the right bottom it would pop up a message saying "Unrecognizable tool connected" something along those lines however when I do reconnect it it'll recognize it sayin the mouse model.

I was wondering is there a problem with the mouse or is it the computer? Anyway I can "fix" this problem? I'm broke at the moment haha and have no money therefore can't get a new mouse at the moment and this problem is annoying me.

Alright heres the story...

girlfriends comp won't load her wireless logitech mouse, I disconnect my optical explorer bring it over and let her use that until she buys her own. No problems works fine on hers. She gets her new one I bring mine home and reconnect it, boot up, umm no mouse...wha? Yeah me = angry.

So basically I've tried lots of junk, regedit stuff (may have missed a few files possible), updated intellipoint software, tried USB ports.

This is what has happened...it gets detected in the USB port however Win XP doesn't know what the device is...doesn't even know its a mouse.

The lights work, the camera light and the back one. So it doesn't seem to be the mouse. It worked fine on this system only 2 days ago.

Is it possible for viruses to spread to hardware peripherals like my mouse?

I've included pics from "msinfo32"...3 different shots...one showing I have no IRQ conflicts, another showing that I have an "ERROR" and the other telling me what my error is "Device Cannot Start"...real helpful...you'd think it'd tell me why.

My computer is an Alienware P4 1.7Gig...mouse worked fine 2 days ago on this computer and fine on my girlfriends recently bought Dell machine (don't have the exact specs on hand). Any help?

I have a totally new problem with my MS Intellimouse Optical. I have used this for some time (98, ME, XP) with no problems. I now have a new system - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have downloaded and installed the latest Intellipoint software (7) from Microsoft, and installed the Mouse. But...
- The Mouse is recognised not as an Intellimouse Optical, but an Intellimouse Web
- I cannot therefore change the side button settings on the mouse (via Control Panel>Mouse) from the default "Forward" and "Back", or the centre button either.
This is annoying. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times, to no avail.

Does anyone know...??
(a) How to get Windows 7 to recognise my mouse as the proper type (Device Manager etc)....or
(b) How to hack the settings (XML / Registry / whatever) to change the default option, so the mouse does what I want it to without trying to change the buttons via the Control Panel.

Many thanks

Hi Walrus1963 and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

When you installed the driver, did you correctly select your mouse model from the dropdown list during installation? If not, uninstall the driver and reboot your machine. Now, reinstall the driver being careful to select the correct model when prompted. What is the model of your mouse?

Recently I have tried to install my Intellimouse Optical USB and PS/2 Compatible mouse onto my dell computer(running with XP), replacing the Intellimouse 1.3A PS/2 Compatable mouse that came with the computer. I went into "Help and Support" and found the appropriate article to tell me how to remove mouse.

"IntelliMouse: The Mouse Pointer Moves Erratically or Does Not Respond with Windows XP (Q321122)"

After following the instructions I tried to install my optical and it still refused to work. One thing that I noticed is that some of the files that they told me to delete were'nt there in the first place. Would all the mouse need to be unpluged while i did this? I'm not sure if anyone could shed some light on what i did wrong with the info i'v given but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible? THAT is the real question.. I've been researching a ton online and can't seem to find anything that I can get that will allow this. I have Windows 8.1 OEM and I can stream any video I want that's already downloaded to my computer using the video app and my xbox 360's use of Play formerly known as AllShare Play or Play To. But the question I have is, how can I stream a blu-ray movie from my computer over a wireless network, either using the internet wi-fi or an external hookup, to my Toshiba LED TV or the XBox 360? Is this a possibility? If so, what hardware and software would you suggest I get to make this happen? My personal computer is in the living room not far from the TV. I could technically run HDMI wires from my GPU to the TV, but I'd rather have it done over some sort of wireless connection so I can push a button and let it do its thing rather than having to go through a major ordeal every time I want to watch a movie.

Thank you in advance for your replies
EDIT: Oh, my budget is limited. I could push maybe $200 a month on hardware/software if needed..

Hi,

I have been asked to fix a friends pc. The problem is this - the optical drives are not displayed in My Computer and when I look in Device Manager both the DVD & the CD drive have an exclamation mark beside them. When I right click on them the Device status is as follows;

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

When I click Update Driver Windows says it cannot find a better driver than what is already installed.

I also tried Scan for Hardware Changes as in the MS docs but no joy.

Any advice on what to do next?

Is there a way the images captured by an optical mouse be sent via USB and saved in any format?

It's my understanding that the captured images are processed and then the movement data only sent to the USB port. Is there a way I can tweak this?

Little experiment I thought I'd try out

A:Optical Mouse as Cam

That would be aaaaaa negative. Optical mice do not capture images, they just have a sensor that detects reflected light back to a sensor.

I've tried everything logical!

but I cant get my PS2 Optical Mouse to work on XP.

Any ideas?

A:XP & PS2 Optical Mouse

My first idea is that you need to give more information. Like the name brand and model of the optical mouse. Is it wireless ? Is it new ? Did it EVER work ?

If it did, what happened just before it went bad ?

Was there an "old" mouse? Did you uninstall that mouse's drivers ?

Does the optical mouse work on another computer ? Does another mouse work on your (main) computer ?

Does a conflict show in the Device Manager ?
Does the device show up in Device Manager ?

Is it plugged in ?
Is it plugged into the PS2 port, and not the keyboard port?

Does it need batteries and if not are they still good ?

What do you mean by "can't get it to work". Is it completely dead, or do you have partial function?

Does your BIOS have a switch to enable/disable a PS2 mouse and did you make sure it is enabled ?

Does your Motherboard have a jumper to enable/disable a PS2 mouse and is it enabled?

What's the history of your system ? Is it new or used? Have you owned it for a long time or did you just get it ?

My second idea is that you should first let go of the notion that WinXP has anything to do with your malfunctioning optical mouse. Unless you have some red-haired ******* step-child of an optical mouse manufactured by some highly isolated cult located off the Fiji Islands, and imported by Boolong-Bang tribe for distribution in the United States, chances are that your XP and your mouse are just fine, and that the problem is more in the... Hi all, This is more of an informational question or inquiry. I like optical drives with my laptops as I like to watch movies and such while traveling, during downtime at work, and on planes where you really can't easily log into Netflix, for example, and stream. Obviously, a lot depends upon the airline but that's generally true. Anyway, I've noticed that as beautiful as HP's newer laptop and convertible laptops are, they don't seem to include optical drives. Has HP completely gone away from them? I am in the market for a 15" laptop with an internal optical drive, not an external drive, whch sort of defeats the purpose of a lightweight and portable laptop. Are there any left? I can't seem to find any. I'm looking for a Core I5-ish processor laptop, with at least 500GB of hard drive size, with a 15" screen. Acer has exactly what I'm looking for in their Aspire E575 series, but as a longtime satisfied HP user (one desktop 10 years back, two Envys, an X2, and a Star Wars laptop) I wanted to give HP my business first, if possible.  Many thanks for any suggestions, Bob

If the problem is at the registry then this fix is supposed to work.

Try this, I hope this helps
1. Click on Start --> Run --> and type in 'regedit' followed by the enter key ( if Vista Start search or windows+R )
2. Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or
3. clicking the "+" next to it.)
4. Expand the "SYSTEM" Key
5. Expand the "CurrentControlSet" Key
6. Expand the "Control" Key
7. Expand the "Class" Key
8. Please look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers:
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
9. High light this key by left clicking once on it
10. On the right hand side you are looking for "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" under the "Name" column, once you find these please delete them by right clicking on them and choosing "delete"
11. Please exit the registry by clicking on the "X" in the top right hand corner of the screen

Just recently finished installing new Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H mobo into existing case and new installation of Win 64bit on a new HDD. I have two HDDs - C and D and two CD/DVD optical drives which should be E & F but am only seeing E - that is, only one of the drives (in both Device Manager, Disk Management and Explorer).

I have proved, by swapping the SATA leads over, that both optical drives work - and their LEDS both blink when I am booting up. They are connected, respectively to SATA ports 6 & 7 on the mobo. Both optical drives worked with the previous MSI mobo before it gave up the ghost. FYI, my HDD 'D' drive holds the previous OS so is effectively not acccessible, though it is visible.

When I go into BIOS Features / Boot Option Priorities / Boot Option #1 or #2, I can see:
PO: WDC WD10EZRX-00A8LBO
SATA PM: TSSTCORP CDDVCW SH-S

However, when I go into CD/DVD ROM Drive BBS Priorities / Boot Option #1 or #2, I see:
SATA PM: TSSTCORP CDDVCW SH-S
SATA PS: TSSTCORP CDDVCW SH-S

From this, it would appear that the BIOS is seeing both of the optical drives

I don't know if it is of any relevance, but under CSM support / Display Boot Option Control it is set for Legacy Only.

Any assistance to see and use both optical drives will be appreciated.
Thanks Pedro

Yesterday I noticed that my DVD Reader & DVD burner were not displayed in MY Computer.. They are detected and shown in the bios and during initial startup but not in windows..
What WAS bad timing I've since turned off System Restore while bug hunting and so cant go back..
I've also found that my Acronis True Image claims it cannot detect ANY hard drives... and I have 3, all of which I see and can access...

I tried running sfc /scannow from command but it tells me the cd I put in was incorrect, it isn't.. so I guess its either not seeing the drive either or is , like me, confused..

I can do a restore from boot but I'm hoping someone can shed some light upon this strange abberation. In CP/Device Manager it show a yellow exclamation next to the optical drives and says its probable the drivers are corrupt.. but its looking more like the IDE system has problems as clearly the HDDs are not being perceived as they should be..

Any ideas??

ND.. the only program that was installed around that time was a trial version of XPRepair which, after it demanded registration to do anything other than detect, I uninstalled thru Add/Remove.. but it didnt go ( ???.. hmmmm?) so I took it out of the startup and physically removed it.. Still no go on the CD/DVD..

Not any optical ..whatever you call it. Just makes identification easier to understand.

Example:
Similar to how using a web browser's incognito mode, the window will appear with a darker theme. Users are aware after closing the browser, nothing is saved (cookies, logins etc). So the colored borders indicate that the window frame or application has been isolated, and that changes will be discarded.

Third-party Free Antivirus software usually have In-app promotional Ads or notifications. It's annoyance you generally do not see in Paid-for Antivirus / Security Suites, except when your license is to expire.

Hi, Do you have the analog speaker setup set to 2 spkr mode ?
When you hav it set to 2 spkr mode that is suppose to enable the optical SPDIF outputs digital mode and so automatically disables Analog Mode. So you won't see a setting for it in the softwr. From what i can see you still need to run a digital output to a Dolby Digital Receiver or to special speakers that have an optical input and output with a Digital Processor built into the spkr's amp.
This is how i interpret what you have and what you need to have to do that. Hope this helped.

I just installed the MS trackball optical and I can't get the back-forward buttons to work. They only work if I'm in the USER'S GUIDE or in Explorer. I went to the web page and I downloaded the newer version of Intellipoint(version4) and I also downloaded their user guides. When I tried to access them the computer said "file hh.exe could not be found." I am a novice-please go easy on me-I need details. I have an eMachines computer and Windows ME.

I just got a wireless M$ Optical Mouse and so far I am not impressed. It seems more jumpy than the regular mouse. Is this normal? I will be using the mouse when the pointer dissappears and shows up over the start menu at the bottom of the screen. I had better performance with the wireless mouse I had before. I thought these were supposed to better and smoother. Is this a common issue or did I make a bad choice with the M$ brand mouse, or did I get a lemon. Any thoughts? Thanks.

A:Optical Mouse

The surface you use it on makes a difference. To eliminate the surface, Try it on a clean sheet of printer paper and see if that works smooth.

I have a gigabyte ds4 connected to my samsung amp via optical, im sure i should be able to get dolby digital and dts if i am playing the correct file.

Every video i play in vlc will only work with sound when the amp displays neo 6, if i change vlc to sound via spdif and the amp displays dolby digital i get just noises, most of the time white noise.

I have unistalled all my codecs so if you could also advise me on what is best to use.

I have two DVD drives on my pc. When I eject the disk in one drive, it says that it is prepairing to eject and takes several seconds to eject.

I can put the same disk in the other drive and it will eject immediately.

Does anyone know why the two drives act differently?

A:Optical Drives

How long it takes to eject depends entirely on the make & model of the CD drive; Some can do it more quickly than others.

(Please don't shoot me down in flames by saying both of your drives are the same model!)
