I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: why do i have to change default format (sound hz )

Is your sound output via the headphone jack or are you connected via HDMI?

It could be a conflict between the Realtek Sound Manager and the Windows settings.

I am downloading audio voice files to my computer from an Olympus DM-10 digi recorder and they are coming in as wma files.

I would prefer them to be in dss format.

I've searched the software options and cannot find a way to change the default.

I think it may be a computer default? I think I saw a flash of something like DirectX when downloading, but I can't find that software on the computer. (And even if I did, I'm not sure I would know if that is the "fix" I need or if I could figure out how to change it.)

A:Audio File Default Format, Change?

Nothing to do with the computer, according to the manual (just looked at it using Google) its a matter of the recorder defaulting to DSS format in SP and LP mode recording, and WMA format in SHQ and HQ mode recording.

Have you checked the manual? Page 7

A few years, I purchased a Windows 7 Starter netbook and now I'm enlightened with all the knowledge of customization and theme editing I can do with it. But something's been bugging me - how do I change the time format?

As you can see, changing the date format looks fine. The Time format hasn't changed.
I've tried changing it to 24hr format (I'm more used to military time), tried switching around where the PM showed up, but it doesn't show up on my taskbar, only on the hover over for files & folders. Any way i can fix this?

I'm able to see a 24-hour time format on the user-based Lock Screen for Windows 8.1x64 on my personal laptop, but upon logging out of my account, the lock screen returns to a 12-hour time format for the system default lock screen. I have tried every option that I know of, from RegEdit to Lock Screen Customizer from WinAero.

If I need to upload screenshots, then I may have a problem, as I don't know that there is a way to upload a screenshot from the Default Lock Screen...

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks.

Btw to take a screenshot in Windows 8.1, you can press the Windows key and print screen key (PrtSc) at the same time which will dim the screen and save the picture to a folder named screenshots in Pictures.

I have an Acer Aspire 2920 notebook and it uses the new 'empowering technology'. On this, it has audio settings for Movies, Music and Games. On the Movies and Games, the surround sound is set to on, but on the music it is set to off. You change it back to on by double clicking, but as soon as you do this it goes straight back to off again as this is the default setting. All I want to do is listen to my music via the speakers, and headphones, but it will not play. This is purely the Acer empowering technology, so does anyone have any idea how to change it? I feel like I've tried everything, so fresh suggestions are welcome! Thanks.

Hi. Sporting Windows XP Pro w/ SP3. I'm wondering if it's possible to change the default MIDI soundfont (if it is a soundfont), to a more high-end soundfont. I was tinkering around with some Creative software that gave me the idea that I could do that, though I haven't had much luck with my google searches. I don't seem to know the terminology to be specific enough to find what I'd like, so I'm hoping some human interaction can help me get there.

I was hoping the process might be something like:

Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices (or Audio HQ) -> Properties -> Browse -> Cool Soundfont pack.sf2 -> OK.

So when I swap and upgrade my soundfont pack for this generic "MIDI" sound, my various MIDI programs will play with the new and improved soundfont. Is this possible? I thought I had it, but it doesn't seem to have worked.

Audio HQ was the piece tied to Creative that I tinkered with and thought I upgraded, and I'm hoping to produce an improved effect on PTE.exe, a MIDI playing guitar tablature program. I don't know if it's program specific or if I can just adjust it through windows. I'm hoping the latter, as the former doesn't seem possible.

Is this the right forum for this? Please move me if it isn't. Thanks.

A:Can XP users change their default MIDI sound?

So I've gotten closer to my goal, and would like to share what I know, and perhaps clarify what I don't. So here goes.

This post is going to be part tutorial and part research. I have successfully upgraded my MIDI patch, though I do not know all the details encompassing the process, such as how it may vary for different OSs or sound cards. My impression is that it is soundcard-specific, so I should mention that this process is for Creative Audigy soundcards. And ultimately what I'd like to get out of this post, aside from helping others be able to update their MIDI sound font, is maybe a list of higher end soundfonts that can replace what I understand to be the stock MIDI sound. So let's begin the process (and do so by assuming you have the same sound card as me, for again, I don't know any other method):

First, select Start -> Control Panel -> Audio HQ

Then double click the Sound Font icon.

And in this panel is where we do our manipulations. Perhaps the first thing you want to check out is the Options tab. Under SoundFont Device, in my case, I have SB Audigy Synth A and B [9000], and they seem to have equivalent setups, and I can adjust each one individually.

Also here, you can control how much RAM you dedicate to processing the synth font. Selecting "too much" does not waste the memory. It will be used by other processes as necessary, but ensures you have enough to not slow down the production of sound.

Next, we go back to the first ... Read more

Sound quality is changed by format, so I change the format many times.

I have MS Word 2003, which is the most current I think. It saves documents in .docx format by default. This creates problems when I try to access the files on older computers. Can I change the settings of the app so that it saves by default to .doc?

A:Default File Format to Save - Word

Are you sure about the version number you are using? The latest version of MS-Word is 2007 and .DOCX is the default file extension for Word 2007 files.

If you are using MS-Word 2007, you should be able to "Save As" and save the document in a format that is compatible with some earlier versions of Word and have a .DOC extension.

Microsoft offers a free download of an Office 2007 Compatibility Pak for Word 2003 that allows opening the newer .DOCX format files.

I am running windows 7 ultimate (32 bit) edition and IE9. When I want to save a webpage I use this procedure;
1. LC on IE9 Menu Bar on File;
2. LC on "Save as", IE9 automatically defaults to "save as" option "Webpage Complete .htm/html option.
3. I have to manually select "Web Archive, single file .mht" format option, the LC on save.
4. Sometimes [in the same session] IE9 will remember to save as "Web Archive, single file .mht" format option, but if you change webpages it reverts back to the default "Webpage Complete .htm/html option.
5. A separate problem is getting IE9 to have a default save as location as it changes between various folders. I would like to make the default location as my desktop.
What I want to do is have some method of setting my default save as option similiar to what MS Word will let you do, under the following option;
>>>>File > Help > options > save > save files in this format.

I use the .mht format as it can be opened in any version of "Word" and I can edit the file including changing font type and size to suit me.

Okay I would like to know if this is possible.
I currently have several forms. I am creating a new form using the form wizard. So I click on insert->form. I go to form wizard. click ok. I add the needed fields. click next. it asks me to form with "subforms" or "linked forms". I click subforms then next. This next slide gives me four options "1 tabular" "2 database" "3 pivot table" "4 pivot chart". I want to choose 1 tabular, because it is the best for me, but I would like the layout to be slightly different. The top portion places the fields vertically across the form, and the middle portion places the records horizontally.
I would like to make the middle portion place the records vertically instead of horizontally. Is this possible?
I tried to modify it using the click and drag method, but then it would only let me access one subrecord at a time instead of all 3 subrecords.

Thank you for you time and effort.

I have no idea what you are talking about...a DVD disk (the actual media) can only be formatted for use in an optical drive.  It can be used as a storage drive in the same manner that a hard drive is...but that involves packet-writing software.
Is this what you mean?  If not, please explain and tell us how you "reformatted to disk to run as USB".

Hi guys,

For some reason, my Windows 7 is only offering two types of Default Format for my USB Audio Device driver; Telephone quality and Tape Recorder quality.

Obviously both of these are shockingly bad. The thing that makes it worse is that I have just brought a brand new USB Desktop Microphone (Logitech USB Desktop Microphone) and windows is only offering the same settings as my old Webcam Microphone (And it sounds just as bad).

There is one thing I am confused about though: In this video; Logitech USB Desktop Microphone working on Windows 7 64bit - YouTube

The guy is using Windows 7 64-bit (same as me) BUT he has the option to increase the audio quality to DVD quality. It's the same exact Microphone, same windows and appears to be the same driver. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit so it should include all of the drivers, yes?

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Logitech doesn't offer any drivers and the guy in the video mysteriously has the same driver but has more options than me. The microphone is just as useless with loud echos and the like as my old Webcam Microphone.

Thanks for your answers

A:Windows 7 only offering low quality Default Format audio settings!

I couldn't find anything particular on forums.logitech.com other than one guy complaining about the quality of the playback sound. His post was in 2008 and nobody replied.

Standard trick to reset a driver is: go into Device Manger. Find the device. Right click on it and choose Remove. Reboot. When Windows comes up again it will reinstall the driver. It works a high percentage of the time. But there's no guarantee.

Might be a good idea to make a Restore Point first if you use them. Just to make sure you don't lose ground.

I was wondering if anyone knows what ASC11 text format is and if MS Word is in this format? I have a resume to send to this certain site, and it said that the attached documents need to be in ASC11 text format and my attachment is in MS Word form. Thanx for any help on this.

A:Does MS Word make documents in ASC11 text format by default?

ASCII (not ASC11 text, or Plain Text as it's commonly known is arguably the simplest file format there is, your AUTOEXEC.BAT file would be a good example. They contain only characters with no font assignment or fancy formating etc, just letters and spaces. Notepad is a plain text editor, as is the DOS program "Edit".

Word uses it's own propriatary format (.doc) by default, but it will allow you to save files in ASCII format if needed. You need to choose "File>>Save As" from the menu bar. On the Save dialog box, you should have a drop down box labeled "Save as type" or similar. Just set this to be "Plain Text", set the file name and press OK.

I guess Word will warn you about this next part, but you will loose all the font assignment, formatting, tables etc, you have in your word document, so you'll probably want to view/edit the file in notepad before you send it off. That way you'll be able to see exactly (within reason) what the recipient will see.

Good Luck

Evening All:

I have 2(SanDisk 32Gb) pendrives that are formatted in NTFS. This presents a problem. They are "recognized" as HDD's and thus, cannot be "ejected" in normal manner using "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. When I try
this, there is not an 'eject" to click. I believe this is because the NTFS format makes[reads] them a HDD and, of course, HDD's cannot be "ejected". So, is there a command that I could run that would change the formatting from NTFS to FAT32
without having to empty all the contents of the drives, re-format, then re-install all the data?
