These all are 0x101 bugchecks. Unfortunately those type can only be diagnosed with a kernel dump. You'll have to zip up the MEMORY.DMP file in your Windows directory and then upload it to a 3rd-party filesharing website (as it's pretty beefy).

If you wish, in addition to the kernel dump, you can provide us 2 logs from HWInfo with Sensors only option checked: one for idle and one for high load.

Edit: I was going to go on a rant about your power supply, but I found that your cards are lighter-weight versions than the ones I'm thinking of. Still, be wary about keeping your system on high load for extended periods of time.

No DMP's included
Please try this way...
We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Hello, I am new to the forum and thought maybe the community could help me with my problem. I just built a new computer and have been using it for a week. I think it might be a driver issue of some sort, as it just started happening recently today, after I installed a few drivers for Bioshock 1 and Crysis 3. It has happened 3 times today, usually about an hour or two into the game. I have attached the Diagnostics Tool file to help diagnose the problem. I would really appreciate help with this. Thanks! (ps. I run three monitors on my video card using eyefinity, not sure if it is related to this)

Doesn't only crash when playing games, just seems like it happens more often then when the PC is under more stress. It also normally happens after the PC turns on after a system shut down, and around 30 minuets of usage. If it doesn't crash once turned on I can normally just have it hibernate and the crashes will not return until I need to restart my PC for an update.
I would be grateful if anyone could help.
Thank you.

Hi Corkyjester.

Your dump file suggests you may have an issue with your graphics card or your RAM. To start off with I'd like you to install the latest graphics card drivers for your HD 4800.

AMD Catalyst

Start by removing all the ATI driver from your machine. Then install the new Catalyst 12.6 software and report back.

Do not start the free trial of Malwarebytes. Just use the standalone version, update it, and scan your computer once a week with Malwarebytes and with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Good and Free system security combination.

After installing your security software, update it, and then run full scans today with each program. Report back the results of the scans.

Many of us on the forums actually do not recommend automated optimization tools for Windows 7. Windows 7 does a much better job of handling its own optimization than its predecessors did. We especially do not recommend registry cleaning as an "optimization" step because automated registry cleaning causes more harm to the registry than it actually repairs.

In the future, if you need help optimizing Windows 7, please post a thread in Performance & Maintenance - Windows 7 Forums or follow the tutorial enclosed in that forum to Optimize Windows 7.

I use an Alienware M15x with nVidia GeForce GTX 260M, 4GB RAM and i7 Q 740 1.73 GHz octacore processor.

I have checked and now am certain that I have the latest graphics driver for my graphics card, and I have also recently installed the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ and Framework 4.0

The question I have regarding this issue is:
1. What kind of issue am I having?
2. What is causing the issue to begin with?
3. Whether or not there a way to fix this issue, and if so how?

I would really appreciate your help, I hope that somebody could help me out with this as quick as possible!

I have a Toshiba Satellite P755-S5269 that I purchased about 6 months ago that has random BSOD's. At first I got BSOD's every once in awhile, and it didn't bother me. Welcome to SevenForums.

The BSOD was caused by AMD USB Filter Driver (likely part of the chipset drivers). Look for a possible driver update.

I've been having problems with BSOD for awhile, but it's been getting worse and worse, so I finally decided I needed to do something about it. I've been getting the BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER at random times. I have not figured out anything causing it. I'll just be doing something online and it'll happen. I know there is something wrong with my USB slots for awhile, since they don't always register when I put a flashdrive in. I haven't figured out anything on how to fix that, so I figured these two issues might be connected.

My computer is Toshiba Qosmio.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)i7 CPU Q 740 @1.73GHz
Installed RAM: 6.00GB
System Type: Windows 7 64-bit
I don't know for sure much more than this, but i'll find out anything else if I need to.

Also, I followed the instructions to attached the ZIP folder, but every time I tried to upload it, it said the folder was still too big. I kept getting a "413 Request Entity Too Large". So, I had to break it down into separate folders. That's the only way it was letting me upload it.

A:BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER BSOD at random times

Hi Dmack. There are no dump files in the zips you uploaded.

Configure dumps
First, we want to make sure the computer is saving your dump files. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Startup and Recovery [Settings] Make sure that "Write Debugging Information" is set to Small Memory Dump (256kb) if it is not already.Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Next, make sure that the folder C:\Windows\Minidump exists. If not, create it (allow permission if asked). Make sure any dumps you want to analyze, whether yours or others', are in this folder. You can ZIP/RAR the files and send them to someone else to analyze as well.

Security App
Avira can be a cause of BSOD's. Please remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials to see if it provides more stability. Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus softwareMicrosoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes are recommended from a strict BSOD perspective. They do not cause blue screens on the system as other AV products do.

Microsoft Security Essentials, Free antivirus for windows

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

   Warning
DO NOT start the free trial of MalwareBytes, unselect that option when prompted.

   Tip
Make full scans with both separately.

Start up
Keep less stuff at the start-up. Only anti-virus, this helps avoid driver conflicts and improves time to log in to windows.

Hello I will include minidump files in hope sombody can help me trace down
a very random and elusive BSOD. It can happen any time, the computer could be busy or it could be doing nothing. I have the latest bios and drivers for the hardware. All the minidumps are all the BSOD that have happened.I have used msconfig to stop many programs from starting but nothing seems to cure it. I have also run mem test and evrything looks ok. It has even happened once while I was shutting down.Acer has told me to do a system recovery but in my opinion is a last resort.
Thanks in advance

I'm willing to bet it's Norton that's causing you problems. Please try this:

Quote:
Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Norton from your system
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: Download and run the Norton Removal Tool
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's

Beyond that, Please update or remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager. Please use the following instructions to locate the most current drivers:

Quote:
How To Find Updated Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- some driver links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Here's the older drivers:

BSOD Viewer shows that it's caused by usbhub.sys and ntoskrnl.exe, although I assume that may not be accurate.

According to Speccy, my CPU's temperature idles between 55-60?C, my motherboard idles between 55-60?C, and my hard drive stays steady at around 50?C.

The log states that you do not have any anti virus installed. Is this true?

And you have Hynix RAM. I have had problems with Hynix RAM before on a clients computer I worked on. Ran a test of them modules and one of them had errors. Very low end RAM my opinion.

I would recommend running a RAM test. Download and burn Memtest86+ burn the ISO using Imgburn (How to burn an ISO on a cd using image burn). Pull out one RAM Module at a time (Back of laptop there should be a panel with RAM underneath pull out carefully by pushing on the metal tabs inward) With the newly burned cd boot with the cd run at last 7 passes maybe more.

So I started playing TF2 again recently, so I've been using my brother's Xornet mouse. However, since I started using it, it would occasionally just stop working. Also, I've been getting BSOD screens that say "BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER" (I didn't have enough time to write down all the other information on that screen, but I changed the settings so it doesn't automatically restart, so I should have them if it happens again). The BSODs seem to happen at completely random times, except for one thing: they are always preceded by random "USB unplug noises" (i.e. the "da-dun" sound that you hear when you unplug a USB device). These noises can start happening up to 30 minutes before the BSOD, and they seem to happen at random times anywhere from 2 seconds to 3 minutes apart.

I followed some advice from another forum that said to uninstall your USB drivers, reboot, and allow windows to reinstall them. I did, and everything seemed to be going fine for awhile, but after using my mouse for a couple of minutes, it started happening again, and I got the BSOD. I don't know if the mouse is the cause or just coincidence.

This seems to happen whether or not I have USB devices plugged in. Dump file attached.

Oh snap: As soon as I posted this, windows popped up these windows (see attached pic). I currently have no devices plugged in to any USB ports.

I have no idea what any of this means.

Hello everyone! So my problem started about two to three weeks ago when my computer started to show a BSOD at random times. I mean I cannot detect some kind of pattern, e.g. when I open a program etc, it just happens sometimes even when it is just on standby without running anything! I've tried a bunch of stuff: I used a system restore point. memory test, updates... I also recently read that cisco vpn ( which I have) might be causing confilcts with windows 7 so I followed instructions and uninstalled it and used the appropriate updates which would have fixed any issues. But once again today, BSOD...

I have a 3 month old acer aspire v3 laptop, could you please help me out??

I ordered a new Alienware m17x Windows 7 Ultimate x64 laptop from Dell in Septmeber this year (2010) and have had the machine at my house since first week of October. I had a few issues with it which was resulting in BSODs of all different natures and Dell came to my house about a week ago to replace BOTH Graphics cards and all 8GB of RAM.

Since then i have only had 1 BSOD which seems to be linked to the power settings on the laptop? Just a guess, but everytime i leave the laptop on for a period of time and try and 'wake' it up from hibernation by moving the mouse, touching the mouse pad or hitting keys on the keyboard, the USB mouse (Alienware's TACTX Mouse), touchpad and keyboard are ALL unresponsive, then the laptop dumps the system with the BSOD BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER. If i unplug the mouse whilst it is unresponsive and replug into the same USB port or a different one, no lights on the mouse come up, like there is no power being sent to it??

I have changed the power settings to never turn off HDDS & never turn off selective USB ports, but apart from that i am at loss as to how to fix this. It is the last hurdle towards a stable system. The only USB items i have had on the laptop so far are the Alienware TactX mouse which comes with its own DVD for software and drivers, and a small 4GB USB stick which has no drivers or software on it.

Hi,

Over the past few days, I have been experiencing random crashes on my Acer Aspire V3-571G. These can result in blue screens, though some of the have caused glitched graphics to appear on screen before freezing. Also, after crashing, it is very difficult to boot up the computer again. Even the BIOS fails to display sometimes. When it does finally boot, everything pretty much runs as normal. Though these crashes have happened in other circumstances, most of them have been during web browsing.

BlueScreenView suggests different things have crashed in all cases and I've been struggling with symbols with windbg. Windows Memory Diagnostic seems to hang when performing the extensive test. I'm struggling to get memtest86+ to work, though I have a bootable USB ready to go. Currently running a full virus scan with McAfee which has shown nothing currently at 77%. The quick scan did not detect anything either

Not sure whether this is useful or not, but when I first got the computer, the internet kept on dropping out and I needed to download a new driver. I haven't had any problems since. Thought it might be useful to say I was experiencing issues with drivers immediately.

Attached is a zip with everything as described in the post 'Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 8, Windows 7 & Vista.' There are three minidump files, though it has crashed more than this

Recommendations:Crashes primarily point to a DirectX/graphics card related problem. DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run a system file check to check Windows for corruption: Click Start Menu
Click All Programs
Click Accessories
Right click Command Prompt
Click Run as administrator
Type
Code:
sfc /scannow
and press Enter
Once it is complete, make note of the message. If it says Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations., restart your computer and post back
If the message does not say Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations., restart your computer and do steps 1-6 again.
You may need to do steps 1-6 up to three times with a restart in between each run to resolve all corrupted files.
If you still have corrupted files after a fourth run, post back here with the following:Click Start Menu
Click Computer
Open your C: drive
Open Windows
Open Logs
Open CBS
Copy and paste CBS.log or CBS (it may not have the log extension) to a location you will remember.

- suspecting the WD hard drive (wdc wd7500bpvt-22hxzt3, WD Scorpio Blue), i analyzed it with Victoria (Hiren's Boot). Took more than 2 hours (750GB hdd), i had 1 error. I searched the net, but only found russian sites, where i used google translate and found out that 1 error of this kind should not cause problems. (Warning! Block start at 0 = 3468 ms)

Hi All,

This is my first post on this forum.

I have been having (recently more frequent) BSOD events on my small laptop PC. After reboot, the Event Viewer shows a Critical Event 41 (Kernel-Power). I am hoping I can get guidance on what to do with this.

It happens randomly and does not appear to be related to any particular program.

Note: I previously had my laptop set to hibernate when the screen is closed down and running on batteries. The other day, I found my laptop to still be on when I drove from my office to home and it was running hot. I have since changed the behaviour to be "sleep".

As per BSOD posting instructions, here are the details of my machine and the attached files for review.

Hello,
for the past few months I've been having random BSOD crashes. There does seem to be consistent behaviour that causes them. I have been getting USB errors randomly, sometimes when I am not even using the computer.

I do not have any usb devices plugged into my usb ports, though I do occasionally get pop-up messages saying "One of the USB devices attached to your computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". If I check my USB devices in device manager there is often an "unknown device".

I've attached a screenshot of a bluescreen, a Perfmon report, and Sysnative File Collection bundle. I am currently running driver verifier. At least I think I am. I ran it as instructed and then rebooted my computer, but I don't see it as a running process, so maybe I did something wrong there.

Thanks in advance,
David

Welcome
You had several dump reports each givning a different driver as a cause. One gave memory, at this point, I think that the most likely cause of your problem.

Download memtest86 and test RAM
www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html
Run for 8 passes
If passes try a good stick in each slot for 3 passes
If fails do the same for 8 passes.

It may take several attempts more to resolve your problem. The cause is not clear at this point, but memory seems the most likely.

Hi,
I've had this error twice in the last 6 weeks.  Yesterday it occurred while running dBpoweramp Music Converter to convert some audio files.  The input was from a folder on a USB external drive and the output was going to another folder on the same drive.  The first time it occurred I was backing up a folder on a USB external drive to another USB external drive.  I have a TASCAM Audio Interface USB connected to the laptop, and I believe it caused other BSODs due to a tscusb2.exe many months ago.  I wanted to make you aware of the TASCAM device in case it doesn't show up in any of the reports I've run.

I'm running Windows 7 Sp1 64-bit mode on a Toshiba laptop Satellite A505-S6980 Part No PSAT0U-00M001  with 4GB of RAM.  The OS has not been changed or reinstalled, and was already installed when I bought the laptop at Best Buy.  The CPU is a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6600, and the video card is a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family.  I think the laptop is about 5 1/2 years old.  Attached are the two zip files.

I have been getting Blue Screen every once in a while from what the Blue Screen says is bugcode_usb_driver. In the last couple of months it happened every couple of weeks, but now it is becoming more frequent. I thought it was because my graphics driver was out of date but that wasn't it either.

It happens somewhat randomly. Sometimes I'll be reading a webpage and it'll go off, other times it's when I'm trying to set the computer to hibernate or sleep mode. It never goes off when I'm playing a game or watching a video. The computer acts normally and it boots just fine.

I'm on an Asus G60JX laptop running windows 7, I'll post the Sysinfo and some of the mini-dumps. I'll post anything else you guys need to help.

Thanks so much.

Have been getting BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER crash pretty randomly for about the last month or so. I didn't make any big hardware or software changes so I can't figure out what the problem is. It doesn't seem to be linked to any specific USB device being connected either.

I reformatted my system when the BSOD started, which solved the problem for a few weeks, but it's come back again. I also tried following the USB driver steps (USB Driver - General Fix for Problems), which seemed to work for a little while. I followed the tutorial again last night, though, and got the BSOD this morning. Also updated drivers as best I could. The BSOD happens at random intervals--I'll go a week without getting it and then it will crash 3 times in one day.

Any help would be appreciated. I've attached a zip with the dump files (hopefully done correctly).

Welcome aboard, zycer.

First, Turn on USB Selective Suspense.

Then, if you use any USB keyboard and mouse, update the drivers from manufacturer's website.

And, if there are any USB device attached, say bluetooth or external HDD, remove those.

Let us know the situation after that.

Welcome looks like a usb problem
Update usb drivers from device manager
If all are updated already
it may be corruption
uninstall each and then boot computer, they should update. Do one at a time
If that does not work
disconnconnect your external devices one at a time and test for BSODs. Try to find out which usb is the problem.

Hello, I'm having extreme difficulty with my desktop PC. Over the last few days I've been getting BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER BSOd crashes. The only new device to the machine is a Samson C03U Condenser Microphone, which doesn't appear to be the issue - the machine crashes even if it's unplugged. The crashes have been getting worse, to the point the machine is now crashing every five minutes. I'm having to write this post on my Surface RT.

I've just about managed to get a zip of the .dmp files via Windows 8 Log Collector. I would appreciate if someone could locate where the problem may lie, and how I can go about resolving the issue.

Much appreciated!

Hi all,

I just joined the forum, hoping someone out there can help resolve this issue. I have an HP desktop and am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I purchased the computer in November with the operating system already installed on it. I haven't had any problems with it until the other day...now I keep getting a BSOD that says something about bugcode_usb_driver. I've tried researching the problem online but I have no idea what I'm doing honestly. I would post more information but I don't know where or how to find the error on my system. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
