Q: Unsure where to post this as I'm unsure what the issue is...

My microphone, as of last night, as started producing a "buzzing" noise to its listeners. I can't hear it unless I go into recording devices and click "listen to this device". It's a constant buzz, as long as my mic is enabled (I do a lot of push-to-talk in video games). I've tried another headset with the same result. I updated my video card (GTX 960) with no change. Restarted the computer of course, as well. Just trying to see how to diagnose the exact issue before I go buying a new computer case or something. Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a pc that I am getting an "out of memory" error when trying to print from some accounting software that is reading from a sql database. The pc has office 03 installed and updated. There is a patch for this through MS that I tried and it was unsuccessful. I have increased the page file size to max, the pc has plenty of RAM(3 gigs), running xp pro sp3. A couple days before this error started, the pc would not boot, it was stuck in a reboot cycle. I ran chkdsk which fixed a bad sector on the hdd. Thinking that the drive was probably starting to go bad, I cloned old one and put a new drive in the pc. I am still getting this error and can't find an answer anywhere.
Again, not sure if this is the right place for this question.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice/thoughts.

A:Unsure of where to post??

What version of Windows, please?

You might also take a look in Event Viewer for clues...and let Windows manage the pagefile.

If Office is the only program that provokes this...I would presume it to be possibly damaged and uninstall it/reinstall.

Using a Thermaltake P5 case, just today replaced the main panel (glass) with acrylic. What could go wrong, right?
-shutdown from Windows 10. Disconnected a sys-fan, mostly passive cooled, so wasn't really necessary.
-replaced the glass with acrylic.
-powers on GPU (led); Power Supply fan spins, then winds down. Display shows nothing.
-reset power bar, booted once, seemed okay, so I restarted (some driver updates).
-no only shows GPU LED, power supply fan spins up, then drops to idle... no video.
-disconnected all drives, same thing.
-reseated all cables, RAM, video card... same thing.
-booted with only MLB, Video card (GTX 1080)... same thing.
-tried booting with display connected to on-board video (DVI-I)... same thing.
-short of pulling the CMOS battery, I'm out of ideas.

Not even getting to a bios screen, but if I unplug the display, it shows the splash screen just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi - I'm new to this forum and I understand enough about computers to be able to install new ram, power supply etc. but am not super proficient in the tech talk - know most the terms, not where to find them in the system/software.

OS: XP Professional,
Office XP (Office 10),
Dell Optiplex GX 260 Pent 4 2.4 Ghz 1.5 Gig ram 40 G HD

Problems:
Multiple program failures - even though software is still on hard drive, and shows on add/remove programs list in control panel - programs won't start, and WINDOWS INSTALLER comes up asking to put the CD Rom in - for most programs I don't have the CD as I got this computer used from someone and didn't get any software disks.

When rebooting - get a blue screen that has an error message saying one of the secondary hard drives needs to be checked for errors - it says I can abort scan if I want - just hit any key - but when I do this - it doesn't stop the scan or abort it as it should.

Can't run 'repair' on the Microsoft Office suite from add/remove programs panel - and it seems more programs keep failing.

I've checked and defragged the disks - and everything shows a status of OKAY - and I so have all my product keys from when I got the machine they were all written down and I've verified them using Belarc Advisor - the keys match what I had in my file - so the programs are still on my computer - its just not recognizing them for what ever reason.

I need you to validate your Windows OS again please from here left pane

It is acceptable to borrow your exact OS CD from a pal to run sfc /scannow to make sure you have no corrupt or missing .dll files on your OS. Running the scan without inserting your OS is not successful as if there are any issues, Windows needs to copy missing or corrupt files from the OS CD.

Have you got backup for your data on this system? Let us know so we can help you further as it maybe necessary to repair or format your HD. To do that you will need to buy a genuine copy of Windows Professional OS as you say you have no CD. As you have the product key for your OS, when you contact Microsoft to obtain a CD, you would need to have that handy.

Make sure all your Windows updates are current too.

Post a reply with answers to the above thanks......

Was working on a PC where the user logged in using Juno. A few days ago she no longer could get her e-mails or get on the internet. It was giving a script bugging error message. I looked at her IE settings and they appear to be correct. I also attempted to call Juno and they wanted the customer to PAY $1.95 a minute for support of their product. She did have the original installation disk and upon removing and readding it to her O/S, she is now able to connect to the server and get her mail. Still, when attempting to get on the WWW, she gets page cannot be displayed (no more script error message, but not online either). I also checked her dial-up connections (she is using a AC97 Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP) and they were correct and the modem dials fine (obviously as she can send and receive e-mails again).

She has a HP (Compaq) Mobile AMD Sempron laptop with a 3300 Processor 159 GHz and 384 MB of RAM.

Is there anything that I am missing, any tips, or should I tell the person to punt Juno and use another ISP?

Thanks,

Ive tried Eugene Computer Chat help and also a tech support dude i know off another forum but i cant seem to fix my issue

Basically my Desktop used to BSOD a fair amount about 2 months ago and for some reason it stopped after i applied new thermal paste and hoovered the insides of the case :)

Anyhow - as of late , my pc has started having "random lag" what i mean by that is that my computer will be running fine at normal speed on everything im doing then all of a sudden, everything will take an age to do like open folders , open my web browser etc and even youtube videos will slowplaying - just everything goes into meltdown lol and i have to restart to make it usable again

Ive tried previous suggestions from other people such as using Memtest+ on my ram sticks and also tried wiping my HDD and reformatting it and installing Windows 7 again , bear in mind ive had this pc for almost 4 years and it never done all this lag business before just a random bsod now and then which didnt really cause any issues

Someone also suggested checking event viewer, which i have, and nothing there, also i was suggested to install one program at a time until i have problems but i cant see how it can be a program issue since ive used a multitude of programs before and it never used to do this and was also suggested to do my Windows updates which i did but to no avail

It used to "random lag" quite often but does it a fair bit less now but the problem is still there... Read more

Hi,

My wife has a Toshiba Satellite P55T-B laptop running Windows 8.1. The laptop connects to our router - an Asus RT-AC87R - via wifi. The router is running the latest firmware. The NIC drivers on the laptop have are also running the latest driver version.

My wife remotely connects to a desktop machine setup for her at work. That machine is always on and set to wake on WAN connections. She RDPs through a SonicWall IPSec VPN peer connection. She's experiencing a few problems.

1) RDP will intermittently attempt to reestablish connection.
2) The VPN will eventually sever the entire connection.
3) The VPN connection drop will affect the entire laptop's connection to the internet.

So, I'm not sure if the issue lies with my home router, with the VPN, or with the RDP.

I looked at her RDP settings, and they seem configured correctly, with automatic reconnect attempts, etc.

I looked at her VPN settings, and the peer's IP address is correct. When there's a disconnect, RDP will report an error that it couldn't find her machine, which is odd because it was just connected to it. (I believe the VPN connection is a tunnel right into her desktop at work, rather than into the corporate network.)
I looked at my router, disabled a number of settings (e.g., firewall, explicit/implicit beam forming, 2.4ghz and 5ghz band setting, etc.) to no avail.

I'm totally stumped. I'm not sure why her connection drops. I can't tell if it's the RDP connection, the VPN connection, or my router.

I'd REA... Read more

It started about 1-week ago with the comp lagging a few times. When i first noticed a really issues was when a hard started was needed because the comp  froze. I did a hard reboot - window was doing an update and then there was an issues so it was installing it, not to shut off the comp. It took about 24hrs so get finally get on after it did what it did. Everything was running smooth and I checked for the update and looked as if it went through which was a bit odd- modem was disconnected at the time. Did a norton and malware sweep found nothing. So, thats why im unsure of were to post this so if the mods thing this should be somewhere please post it.

Now after plugging modem everything started running extremely slow. Resolving host. waiting for cache, 5 mins to log in a web site etc. This was when surfing the internet but now did the same for anything on the comp as well.(opening files) Discounted the modem and it ran okay but it was lagging- now it seems to lag even with it running or not but worst if the modem is on. Any direction will help thanks....Last thing i did was a defragged the drive and that took 2days or so. I think that is all the missing piece here and there but this is the major choke i have now that im having. Point me in the right direction of thread if im in the wrong section and bare with me as anything now is extremely slow to respond back

Hello. I've owned a laptop since 2009 but something's gone very wrong with it. Basically the problem is that it gets stuck and goes crazy slow. I don't know what on earth is wrong with it. Hi,

I'll get right to it: I have used the same keyboard for several years now. It is a Saitek (no definable model at first glance, but I can provide more details if necessary). It always worked great on my XP machine, but when I got a new computer (with Vista) I began having issues.

The issues are strange and intermittent.

1. The Tab key doesn't always "Tab". It often acts as if I am hitting alt-tab and brings up the choice for me to change windows (as if I was hitting alt-tab).

2. The Tab key sometimes simply does not work, primarily when using MS Word.

I was just going to get a new keyboard, but then something strange happened. A buddy of mine was remoted into my machine from his home and even experienced the same issues with his keyboard, leading me to believe it has nothing to do with my keyboard at all.

I have deleted and reinstalled the drivers several times and looked for solutions on the net with no luck. Restarting my machine is typically the only thing that clears the problem.

Any ideas?

A:Possible Keyboard, Vista, or Other issue... unsure.

The past couple of days, my laptop's been prone to suddenly not responding. Usually it responds again after a few minutes, but the first time it occurred, I let it sit for about 5 minutes before forcing it to shut down.
Running AVG scans also now shows medium-level threats, none of which are automatically removed. There were 3 the first scan, then 4, then 3, then 7. I've yet to scan a fifth time. Each round, I take a screenshot of the details of each one (for documentation purposes) and then proceed to "Remove All". It prompts me to restart in order to "complete the action". Then, after the reboot, I scan again and repeat the process.
The threats are all related to "atapi.sys" and "i8042prt.sys". I will attach the aforementioned screenshots at the end.
I'm not sure if the non-responsiveness and the threats are related, but both started at essentially the same time. Please help?

Heyo! Hopefully this gets a view and some answers sometime soon, as I've been dealing with this issue for a few weeks now with no avail. My computer's task manager, when prompted to do so, displays multiple .exes under the same name -- something I understand is relatively normal. One of them, however, quickly begins to consume rapid amounts of memory after every restart, and it often results in severe issues completing even the most mundane of tasks.
(Around ten minutes after a restart.)

I'm not sure what's causing this, and attempting to google-fu myself an answer has only resulted in more confusion. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how I might go about fixing it?

A:svchost memory leak issue. I'm unsure of as to why.

It's normal that one of those "SVCHOST" processes uses up to say 140 MBs of memory. In that regard, 160 MB is not that far "out of line". "Svchost" using A LOT OF memory (say > 140 MB) is a sign there's a problem with one of the Services in combination with some other software. And reports of those conflicts could/will show up in "Eventviewer".

I guess we need to get your internet working so you can head over to the " am I infected ? " section of the forum and have the malware pros help you.

Have you tried going to the samsung website and downloading/installing the current network drivers?  That would be my first thing to try.  Do you connect to the internet via wired or wireless connection?  There are two separate drivers that I saw.  One for wired and one for wireless.

Hi there,

I'm trying to fix my dad's PC. It's an ACER Aspire M1641. It's about 7 years old. If there's any other information I can provide you with that would help, just let me know and I'll get anything up as soon as possible.

What it does:
- On regular start up, it freezes right up at the "Starting Windows..." screen. Sometimes, very rarely now, it might make it to the desktop "welcome" screen, but it'll freeze there, too.

I've just been using it on Safe Mode, but it seems to freeze on Safe Mode sometimes, too. Any help would be great. This site has saved me before!!!

Thank you

My pc keeps randomly freezing up on me. i usually run irc, msn, and winamp only, and it freezes sometimes randomly, i've updated all 3 programs, so it looks like it might be hardware related, but everything is connected just fine. Have fan checks with AVG, Spybot, and i have a firewall running. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also, I'm not NEW to building PCs but I have zero experience when it comes to software/hardware issues as I've never had any issues before.

I encountered an issue that apparently comes up once in a while where the PC fails to boot only when the GPU is plugged in. I initially thought the issue was with my PSU since the 1060 would fail to stay powered on for more than a few seconds before the fans stopped rotating and the card's LED lights would turn off (the rest of the components still powered on though!), however after about two days I decided to try another PSU which failed to even power my PC in total. Greetings TenForums,

I have had this Dell XPS 13 2015, running Windows 10 Home to my dismay, in my possession since June 2016. I've been using it as a "back up", but i'm eventually looking to sell it. However, it appears it may be a bad egg. Ever since I got the laptop, it has been having various BSODs. I have re-imaged this computer twice (to no avail of the BSODs going away), and now I may do it again considering it now doesn't boot at all unless it goes into safe mode.
Some of the errors I've gotten:
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (i think that's what it was; pardon me if I got one wrong)BAD_POOL_HEADERBAD_POOL_CALLERDRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFERDRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATIONThere might be more, not sure.

I have no idea what's going on with this laptop, but i'm hoping someone here will be able to sort it out. I'm going to (hopefully) be using it for streaming at a school event, so I'd like to get it fixed right away.

All the required files for posting a BSOD help post is attached.

Any help is appreciated

EDIT 1: Removed USBPcap from the system in efforts of troubleshooting.

Hi,

My name is Ben and I'm having computer issues! I know that freezing is an issue that could be caused by a million and a half different things, and I really have no idea where to start looking. My computer mainly seems to freeze while I am playing videogames (which my computer easily has the hardware to run), but it could be I only see the freezing while gaming because that is mostly what I use the computer for.

When the computer freezes, it acts somewhat like a broken record, repeating ~.5 of a second of sound and video over and over. I've left the computer for upwards of an hour, and it just continues to repeat. I've posted my computer info below, and I'm mostly just hoping for a good starting off point for narrowing down whatever is wrong with my computer.

Model: Dell Dimension 4700
CPU: Pentium 4 3.00 GHz
Chipset: Intel 915G Express
RAM: 2.55 GB (Assorted Brands)*
Hard Drives: 2 - 1 Maxtor 6Y080M0, 1 Western Digital 2000JD*
Power Supply: 550W BFG Tech*
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT*
Sound Card: Soundblaster Live! 24 Bit

* denotes something I added

Thanks a TON for all of your help!

Ben

Also: If this is the wrong forum to post this in, let me know, but I really have zero Idea what is causing this problem so I was unable to put it in a more specific forum.

Hi, been having this for a while now, I believe it is something to do with the memory, as it tends to do this when the computer is trying to do to much at once, however it does not happen when the graphics card is removed (original assumption) so unsure if that is part of the issue.

The debug file is attached, if any extra information is required please say so.

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here, so please bear with me as I learn more about your community.

My Dell XPS machine has been freezing, crashing, and showing the BSOD everyday, multiple times, for the last few days. I am unsure of the problem. I have ran a Malware Bytes test, it found nothing. I also ran a rootkit, and it found nothing. I ran a scan on Windows Defender, which also found nothing. The only abnormality I have found is that there are 4 unknown devices listed in my DM. I also can not use a USB drive because they  are all missing the driver. I am running Windows 10. I was hoping for some guidance on how to tackle the issue.

Q: unsure

I'm not really sure just where this should be discussed.
Here's the issue. a week ago I suddenly became unable to get a site to open for me. the site is Slotomania.yahoo.com
yahoo redirects me to the "new" location which then redirects me to "playerio.yahoo.com" which causes me to get
this message " page can not be displayed" check the address playerio.yahoo.com, when I do that the address has nothing
to do with yahoo games. I'm at a loss as to what to do or where to go. I've contacted Yahoo, to no avail, I've contacted Playtika(they are the 3rd party involved here) also to no avail. Others I know are not having this problem, it seems to be unique to some of us but not all.
Also would like to add, this problem is not an IE problem as I get the same thing when I use Chrome and Mozilla Fire Fox.

I had a 600W silverstone psu in there from my last rig. The thing burned out, no biggie. So I purchased a Antec 850W truepower quattro.

Now I got the new psu installed and checked and rechecked all the cables and connectors. The computer started voila it was beautiful again. B/C of the psu burnout I decided to be a little bit more liberal with how often i shut the system off. I went out, came home and the computer had been off for around 6 hours. It started up again no issues. I was in the midst of playing some Medieval two total war kingdoms when outta no where *click* and off the rig goes. I waited a second rechecked all the connections and connectors and attempted to restart. All the fans in the rig started for 2 maybe 3 seconds and then stopped. I push the power button again and the computer starts but I get a black screen. Everything is running. The psu isnt even 3 days old and its alive and kicking, vid card is on... Read more

My latest HJT log looks clean (haven't posted it on this website, but I will post it on the proper forum shortly) but my system is still running SLOOOOWWWW & I am having issues accessing email. Google toolbar is still grayed out on IE. I am getting sooo frustrated.
Any suggestions/help???

A:Unsure What To Do

I suggest you post a HijackThis log for examination. The HJT Team will take you through the fix, step by step. You should not try to fix anything with HJT, unless you have been properly trained in it's use.HJT is a tool used to locate "problems".The removal of these "problems" is sometimes much more involved, than just having HJT fix it.The improper use of HJT could also cause damage to your system. You shouldn't make any changes to your system, until your log has been verified as clean.Any changes you make, could skew the results of the HJT log.If, after your log has been cleaned, your still having these problems, post them into the proper forum, and we'll take it from there. It'll be easier to diagnose your problem, if we don't have to compete with the infection, you may have. Read How to post a HijackThis Log. Please read, and follow, all directions carefully. Then, run a log, and post it in the HJT forum, at this link. Do not, fix anything, yet.A member, of the HJT Team, will help you out.It may take a while to get a response, because the HJT Team are very busy. Please, be patient, these people are volunteers. They will help you out, as soon as possible.NOTE:Once you have made the post, please, DO NOT make another post in the HJT forum, until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Hello Mickey07 Welcome to Bleeping Computer! Sorry about the delay. We're all volunteers here, and it's been very busy. If you still need help, please post a new HijackThis log to make sure nothing has changed. Before posting the log, please make sure you follow all the steps found in this topic: Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log <--link And I'll be happy to take a look at it for you. I also need to see a different type of log from Hijackthis: Run Hijackthis.Click on "Open the Misc Tools section".Next click on "Open uninstall manager".Press the button 'save list'. It will open a Notepad file.Place the content of that file here in your next reply. Thanks, for your patience.

I'm not entirely savvy with viruses, malware, or the like. I have Microsoft Security Essentials running all of the time and run malwarebytes periodically. However, my brother has recently gotten infected a couple of times. We run things on the same network and while my processes seem to not be showing anything that should raise any redflags, nor is MSE or Malwarebytes, I felt running Hijackthis still may be a good option because I'm likely to miss things others wouldn't. My log is fairly short so I'm suspecting or at least hoping that that is some good news. Anyway, any help would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who can analyze this and tell me the next step if there is one. Hey all, i'm having trouble accessing the url addnewfriends.com and thought it might be something running which shouldn't be. Everything else seems fine but a friend told me on their site that it says the reason I can't run this program is because of my connection. But my connection is 100% fine and working, otherwise I wouldn't be able to post this.

Hope somebody can help me, I'm really lost. :(
