"No battery is installed" in Lenovo Settings T460p Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Q: "No battery is installed" in Lenovo Settings T460p Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Upgraded from T420s to T460p by moving SSD with Windows 8.1 Pro x64. Updated all drivers and software with System Update and online scanner. Everything now works fine, except Lenovo Settings reports "No battery is installed". I do have a battery installed, and Windows shows charge status correctly. I have the same problem with a 2nd battery, so it's not the battery. InstallingLenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Laptop(more than once) has not helped. Everything is normal in Device Manager.Any thoughts?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I recently bought a ThinkPad X240s with Windows 10 installed by the previous owner. I installed the Lenovo Settings app, which works well except for one thing: Every hour or so, a message pops up saying that Battery 2 is not installed. The X240s has only one battery - there is no battery 2, and no way to install battery 2. Is there any way to tell Lenovo Settings that this machine has only one battery? Or is it possible to file a bug reporting this problem? Windows 10 is definitely supported by Lenovo on the X240s, so I hope this can be fixed. Thanks for any help or advice.

Hello!I recently noticed that the Lenovo battery gauge icon is missing from my taskbar, I can't activate it, there's no way, I right-click the taskbar - > Toolbars -> Lenovo baterry Gauge, and it doesnt work. I also open Lenovo Settings and click "about and setting" and then try to set on "activate lenvovo battery gauge" , and nothing happens either, actually, the icon turns "on" but when I click elsewhere it goes back to "off". What can I do? What's happening?

I used Lenovo Settings on my Lenovo Yoga 3 11 for the battery conservations mode. So I was forced to install Lenovo Companion since it recently replaced Lenovo Settings.Ever since I did this, I have noticed the following:* Screen brightness keeps changing by itself slightly* Screen contrast keeps changing by itself slightly* Colours look muted and unsaturated, and filtered. Makes the sceen look worse than it should.* trackpad is only ignorred if the tablet mode is fully flat. The slightest opening causes the trackpad and keyboard to become sensitive. All of this irrespective of whether Dynamic Brighness Control is enabled or disabled in Lenvovo Companion hardware settings, and regarless of whether recommended hardware settings are used.Anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll report back after I've uninistalled the app to see whether any of these behaviours disappear.

A:Noticed issues ever since I installed Lenovo Companion (which replaced Lenovo Settings)

So I deactivated "Change brightness autoatically when lighting changes" in Windows Display Settings. This seems to have been the cause of the brightness and contrast changes, but the colours still look blander than I recall. Sorry to suspect Lenovov Companion so quickly, but the changes coincided with it's installation. Admittedly Windows 10 Fall edition just landed too.

Hi, a couple of weeks ago, I tried to open Lenovo Settings and it instruct me to uninstall it, as all functions are now integrated to Lenovo Companion. I did, but noticed that the Lenovo Battery Gauge still points me to Lenovo Settings (left click on the battery gauge). I uninstalled Companion, and Settings, rebooted, and installed companion again, but looks the Gauge does not uninstall. How can I remove the gauge and make it point to companion? Thanks!

Until a couple of days ago all my battery settings were working fine, but now the battery icon just disappeared in the Lenovo settings, so I cannot change anything. This is especially annoying since my chargin threshold is set to 80% and I do not know how to change it with this problem. I do not remember installing any updates, but I did change some things when my pc boots to get rid of a broken Linux partition in my boot menu. All other parts of Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion are working fine. Thanks for your help!

I've been troubleshooting slightly higher than expected power usage on my P70. Yesterday, the Lenovo Settings app Battery Charge Threshold displayed a slider that I could adjust.To-day, it does not. There was both a "Runtime Application Reconfiguration" for the Lenovo Power Manager to-day and Lenovo System Interface Driver install/reconfiguration mentioned in the Reliability Monitor. I'm looking at a battery that's sitting at 75% (not charging)- when it should be charging to 80%.Any ideas? I'd like to have a charging threshold.

I have a strange issue. I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and I am experiencing problems with the power management/power guage.

It will often show the battery not installed (power gauge is a greyish-white color with dashed lines) or it shows a red X. It does not matter if I am on AC power or on Battery power, it will show the full range of power, battery level, not installed, or an error.

I have searched Lenovo's site and I seem to remember seeing an FAQ about this, but now that I need it, I cannot find it.

What can I check or do to stop this? While it is annoying, I am not sure if I am having a battery problem or not. I did check my battery on Lenovo's site to see if it was recalled and it is not.

I do appreciate any help that any one can give me.

Thanks!

Normally they would be visible on the lower portion of the settings page (where i circled in red) http://prnt.sc/d8o2x4 because i do not see these options, i am unable to disable the battery conservation mode, meaning, my battery wont charge past 60%... and i need my battery to be 100%. i tried reinstalling the app, but to no avail. any assistance wuld be appreciated.

I run my T460p on AC most of the time and as such I remove the battery and keep it stored at around 80% charged. I do may one discharge-recharge cycle every two days or so. I have 135W adapters on my two docs and a 90W adapter for my living room. Since there is no battery connected the laptop runs on whatever jiuce is provided by the adapter.  So the question is, would it run slower on the 90W compared to the 135W? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I have purchased the Lenovo T460p and I am thinking of returning it due to a number of issues. I have not yet received it. It is in the final stages of manufacturing.  1. One of the first reviews of the T460p has reported:'A bigger problem is the temperatures of the processor: Even with CPU load-only by Cinebench, it reaches almost 90 C (~194 F) and even up to 93 C (~199 F) in Prime95, which results in a slight clock reduction from 3.1 to 2.9 GHz. In this case, the temperature will level off at around 90 C (~194 F). When we also stress the graphics card as well as the CPU with the tools FurMark and Prime95, we can also see the effect of the TDP limitation at 35 watts. The latter has to suffice for the processor and the graphics card. The full performance is only available during the first 30 seconds, when the chip can consume 45 watts, before the limitation at 35 watts sets in. The temperature climbs to 95 C (~203 F) in this short period. The processor levels off at 2.7 GHz, while the graphics card runs at 900 MHz.'Source: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T460p-Notebook-Review.160923.0.htmlMy question is has anyone benchmarked this laptop and found a similar result. 2. One of Lenovo Support partners on this forum has reported he is able to use a Transcend 128 GB M.2 2242 SATA SSD in the optional WWAN slot. Has anyone confirmed that this type of storage chip is supported in the T460p (market ready model). &nbs... Read more

A:Concerns and Questions About Lenovo's T460p (2016)

I purchased a T460p earlier this month and I can say that I'm very happy with it (apart from a small issue with the trackpad, which should be solvable through a driver update though). I run Windows 10 Home on it and have a virtual machine running Ubuntu for my development work. I haven't put it through heavy computing loads yet but using it normally doesn't heat up the CPU a lot, and the fan is surprisingly silent as well. Compared to my T430 the palm rest doesn't heat up very much at all. Concerning the GPU it doesn't seem to impact CPU much, I tested the 3D performance by playing Crysis 2, which runs smoothly at 1280 resolution without overheating the system. I use a Transcend 512 GB SSD in the WWAN slot, which works like a charm. The battery performance is as advertised, when in energy-saving mode the power consumption can go down to 7-8 W, which gives you about 6.5 hours with the 45 Wh battery and 10 hours with the 71 Wh model. Personally I'd recommend choosing the 71 Wh battery, as you get an additional 35 % capacity for just 16 ? and the weight is almost identical to the 45 Wh model (and the form factor is also identical). The model 0C52862 batteries (e.g. for T440 20B6, 20B7; T440s 20AQ, 20AR; X240) are compatible with the T460p btw and available cheaply online, so no need to buy an "original" T460p battery, which are offered for much higher prices it seems. I'd also recommend to stick with the basic RAM/HDD configuration (4 GB... Read more

Dear everbody, I have an T460p-20FX and still have warrenty. Since two or three weeks I have several BSODs with different kind of stop codes. What I've seen so far was:CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIEDUNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTIONMEMORY_MANAGEMENT I already clean installed windows 10, which helped for a while. However, the problems came back.I also run a lot of tests, like chkdsk, sfc, MemTest86 and the build in tool by Lenovo (I forgot the name. Something with Diagnostics). Nothing! All tests always said, everything is fine with your hardware. The worst thing is, I cannot get Windows anymore to write dump files. I checked all settings, space in memory, and also switched settings to smaller dumps, such as only kernel-dump.But after each bluescreen, no matter what, the percentage stucks at 0% forever. No dump, no event-ids.Two weeks ago, sometimes Windows created dump files. So I attached one of these minidumps. But it's a bit outdated.Of course all drivers are up date. I also used external tools to check this. I also updated the firmware of my SSD (with Lenovo). But now I'm running out of ideas. So I'm totally lost. I'm thinking it is a hardware problem. I bought my Lenovo this January in Germany. The problem is, I'm in Japan now and I will stay here for some more months. But it looks like there is no support shop in Japan (Tokyo). I have international warrenty but I don't know how to use it. I really appreciate any ideas and help.Best regards,Highchiller

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

A:Bios upgrade to 2.12 on T460p locks cpu frequency to lowest when running without battery

It sounds like a bug might have been fixed.  I would expect it to slow down if you had just a battery (no A/C) or just A/C (no battery).  The charhing circuity won't "cook" the battery.  It will stop charging when it is fully charged.

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

Ever since yesterday I've had this problem, I tried several solutions and none of them worked. Basically the problem is: The laptop only works on battery now. When the battery is at 0% the laptop turns off even if the AC is plugged in. To make matters worse, when the laptop is on I get this message "plugged, not charging". So basically the AC no longer works by itself and only charges the battery when the laptop is off. Here is what I tried so far:- Changing the settings on the Lenovo Energy Mangement tool- Uninstalling the Lenovo Energy Mangement tool - Taking off the battery and AC, pushing the power button for 30 seconds, putting them back in and turning on the laptop.- Starting the laptop on safe mode- Praying to God None of these things worked. RELEVANCY SCORE 50

Hi I own a Lenovo G560 with an Intel Pentium CPU. I upgraded to Windows 10, and it worked fine for about a year. After I deleted a few viruses and a few garbage programs off the machine, the battery refused to charge past 87%. I have heard to check Lenovo Power Manager, but there is no such software on the system. Is there any other solution I could try?

I recently purchased an x230 and everything is perfect but the battery fit.  It moves up and down slightly.  I know there are many posts in the lenovo forums for all different models that the battery fits lose in "x" model and solutions of putting paper / foam / tape to make the battery fit tighter.   What I'm wondering is if anyone has actually had the problem fixed by lenovo.  I've read a few posts where a user has had the base piece of the case replaced (where the battery fit's into) and that has solved the problem.  I'm still within my return period on my x230 and am awaiting a call back from tech support to see if there is anything they will do but I don't think I will keep it if they can't fix it.   I'm just curious has anyone actually had luck by replacing the base piece.  From what i've read a replacement battery hasn't worked for anyone.  Also, I know everyone says its by design for thermal purposes but I haven't actually seen any official confirmation of this from lenovo.   Thanks.

A:Battery Loose / Battery wiggle in x230 and LENOVO ...

As a follow up, I'm just curious if this is a widespread issue?  Anyone have loose battery in their x230 / x220?  I'm not talking about it falling out...but just a few millimeters of wiggle room.  Basically when i pick mine up or place it down, I can feel / hear the battery move.  I'm just trying to get an idea if this is a real problem or thats just how every thinkpad is.  I called support and they are sending someone to replace the base panel and we'll see if that fixes it.  I'll update this post when it get's replaced.   Edit* I also asked the lenovo support rep if they had heard of this issue and they said no, never.  I don't see how this is possible as if you do a google search for thinkpad loose battery there are many results.

Hi, so I just got my new Yoga 910, and wanted to change the settings so the F keys are default and me not needing to press Fn. I found a lot of posts on the forum, where people got it working by having the latest BIOS and Lenovo Settings app from the store. I have the exact same installed, latest bios and settings app. But my input setting screen is just empty, it shows three loading spinners when loading the inputs setting page, but then just goes empty. See attached screenshot.    Anyone else experiencing this? I have updated Windows and all the drivers, also tried uninstalling the settings app and reinstalling, but that did not help either. Hope someone can help.. -- Christian

So I just bought a Lenovo Y50 4k laptop. It is well documented around the web that the 4k monitor causes some scaling issues to occur and even causes graphical issues playing games at 4k resolution. The only current workaround to most of these issues is to use 1920x1080 while gaming or using programs that don't scale correctly. As I am using Windows 7 usually this would require me to follow this method:

Control Panel --> Fonts --> Change Font Size --> Set Custom Text Sixe(DPI) --> (change to appropriate setting)

and

Right Click Desktop --> Screen Resolution --> (change to desired resolution)

then Logoff/Restart to apply settings.

Repeating this every time I want to play a game, use photoshop, etc. can be quite cumbersome so I have automated nearly all of this in a combination of a .bat file and .reg files. However, I have run into a problem I need help with. The font size for Active Title bar, Message Box, and Menu items is unchanged by my registry file. Can someone tell me what I am missing??

Here is how I change to 1920x 1080:

Small_Resoltion.bat:

Code:
regedit.exe /s C:\Tools\Resolution_Changer\96_DPI.reg
C:\Tools\Resolution_Changer\QRes.exe /x:1920 /y:1080
shutdown /r /f /t 00
96_DPI.reg:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontDPI]
"LogPixels"=dword:00000060

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0... Read more

Hey folks so recently had a terrible time and had to wipe my laptop, than god for lenovo one key recovery! I use my laptop for making music mainly and after the wipe the icon with the plug symbol and the battery percentage amount doesn't work anymore. I click it and it crashes for a bit then back to normal. I used to click this icon whe going to make music to make my pc perform faster, and it was very noticable if I had forgot to click it when making a song. I have i7 chip forget what gen. and 16gb of ram on windows 7 on Lenoc B50-80 notebook. Previusly I could throw allsorts of resource hungry virtual instruments and it would handle it no problem now im getting crackles and pops from my audio interface, tascam US-144. The interface does have driver issues, it is pretty old now but I just don't trust windows power management for some reason, I put everything to high performance and it struggles at times but it would'nt before. The main thing I'm insecure about is when I hover my mouse over the icon it says ' normal mode' fully charged. Shouldn't it say 'high performance' since its set to that in windows power manager. Just doesn't seem the same, id normally click that icon and boom super speeds in my audio software. Any ideas would be great, thsi has been going on for around 6 weeks, I had issues with windows updates but I've fixed that and I have installed the latest drivers for power management. I have also installed Energy Manager ap... Read more
