New US Y700 with latest bios - scrubbed Windoze because of the buggy, freezing NVidea driver and loaded Ubuntu 17.04 I would like to find the hardware address of the backlit keyboard so I can turn it on/off via a script. Also, if the keyboard is of a particular subtype, would love to know that too! While were on the subject - the hardware address of the subwoofer in alsa would be helpful too. Unix works well - had to tune some othe systemd time outs to get the machine to shutdown within a reasonable time - that was it so far.

Read other answersHi! I've got Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Silver (https://www.alza.cz/EN/lenovo-ideapad-yoga-13-silver-d375124.htm), and while I am quite content with the device, my keyboard stopped working. I was wondering whether any of you might know and suggest an online reseller (official or otherwise), where I could get hold of a replacement keyboard. Now, I suppose backlit keyboard versions of newer Yoga laptops will not work I guess, will they? From what I have read Yoga 13 Silver does not have the slot required for backlit, but aside that, will the keyboard function and will it fit (dimension-wise)? If so, what is the voltage and current required? Would soldering a small battery to the backlit cable be a good idea (I accept the fact that I wouldn't be able to regulate it)? Thank you in advance!ck

Read other answersI have an Ideapad N581 that I am having issues with when booting. I have installed a Kingston 120gig SATA drive and once the POST times out the computer boots from. The issue I believe is the BIOS is not recgognizing the drive right away. The computer stays in POST for about 5 minutes and then eventually finds the SSD and Boots to windows 10. I have seen posts that other users with this laptop have been successful in installing an SSD. What am I missing? I have looked for a BIOS update and have not been able to find one that is newer than my 2013 update. Please help...

Read other answersAfter updating to windows 10 I noticed that the keyboard backlit didn't turn on no matter if I was pressing FN+Space bar. After several months of trying to solve this problem I came in contact with Microsoft tech support and I was told that my system doesn't seem to be compatibe with Windows 10 and I should downgrade back to Windows 8 in order to solve this problem. After doing that and installing many updates and drivers it still doesn't work. It would be greatly appreciated if someone can help.

Read other answersHello. I have lenovo ideapad 300-15IBR and I want to replace my ordinary keyboard by backlight keyboard. So could you tell me if is it possible? Is my laptop compatible with backlit keyboard?
Hi tachilla,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Checking the general specification for IdeaPad 300 (15'') Platform Speci?cations here, backlit keyboard features is not available to similar model types 80Q7 as the motherboard does not offer power connection for the keyboard backlit as shown from the hardware manual FRU keyboard list pages 78-81.
No power connection portSample keyboard with backlit cable
You can follow the keyboard guide here on page 40-41 of the hardware manual to physical check on your motherboard model as it may not likely be compatible with a backlighted keyboard making it not possible to upgrade.
Hope this helps answer your query.

I have an ideapad 100-15IBD, with a non-backlit keyboard, and I find it difficult to see when in low light. I have found backlit keyboards for this model, but my question is, are they compatible? I also currently have a UK keyboard, and the backlit ones I found are all US models, would that be a compatibilty problem? I havent been able to find the answer to these questions anywhere on the internet, so im hoping someout out there knows the answer.

Read other answersHello, My laptop configuration:OS: Windows 10 64 bits (up-to-date)Model : Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK (80NV)BIOS : CDCN37WW Five days ago the keyboard suddenly stopped to respond (nb : the Num Lock led remained on). I tried to restart Windows but since it could not (stucked on the reboot screen) I pressed the power button and heard a "clack" sound. When I restarted the computer the hard drive made some noices and the fans started to turn at high speed for ~3 seconds.NB : I upgraded to bios CDCN35WW few days before. After the incident I updated to CDCN37WW. Today the problem happened again (keyboard not responding). Before trying to reboot I unpluged and pluged back my mouse (Lenovo gaming mouse). As I expected, it did not function once I pluged it back. I tried to log out before rebooting. At that time Windows crashed and I saw the BSOD for 1 second before the computer shut down and reboot showing the Novo Button Menu (the keyboard was still not responding at this time).I rebooted by pressing the power button, once again some worrysome electrical noices while I was doing so.The computer restarted and once again noices from the hard drive + fans at full speed. Any suggestion ? Are BIOS updates bugged ?Thanks in advance for any help.

Read other answersHello, so I've had this laptop now for a week and I'm seriously considering returning it since I have 30 days. Every device has its quirks but some are harder to overlook than others.Twice now when playing games my laptop* keyboard has completely stopped responding. No keys or combinations of keys work. The game doesn't freeze and I still have mouse/touchpad control. Both times I'm able to close out of the game and hit restart, where it just hangs for several minutes saying "restarting...", so I have to hard shut down. Upon rebooting, everything seems fine. BIOS Version: LENOVO CDCN35WW, 3/29/2016*haven't tested this with external keyboard yet Digging through the event view I've found this in both cases: ?? Thank you so much
Read other answersIdeapad y700, running Windows 10 Home. If I am pressing any key, the touchpad does not respond. It is the ELAN driver touchpad, and turning Palm Sensitivity all the way down does not help or make any change. I also tried updating the driver, and then turning down the palm sensitivity again, and still no change. This computer is advertised as a gaming laptop, and not being able to use keys and mouse at the same time is kinda needed for that.

Read other answersSo I have had this computer for around 5 months and have had little issue with it. All of the sudden my keyboard stopped working. I tried plugging in an external and that was working fine. So I tried to fix the internal one, but as I was looking up the solution my computer blue screened on me. I restarted and it came up with a menu that asked if I wanted to boot normally or etc etc. When I tried to hit enter the keyboard did not function so I had to restart again. Keyboard and computer was working fine. Then later the same thing happened. Internal Keyboard stopped working and soon after the computer blue screened. Next time it happened I closed out my programs before the crash and hit restart. It got stuck on the restart screen for a long time and I had to restart again. I have checked the harddrive, ram, and even did a fresh install of windows 10. This problem is still occuring and is very annoying. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, but it doesnt seem to work. Anybody have any ideas on what could be the problem?
Read other answersHi everyone, I have a problem with the keyboard on my laptop which becomes unresponsive sometimes. This usually happens after running some kind of program. I've talked to a support technician and they told me to run the solution program Lenovo has to find out what kind of problem it is and the results showed nothing was wrong with it. This problem has happened about 10 times so far since I've bought this laptop and I figured it was time to get a solution to this. Does anybody have advice? Thanks

Read other answersHello, I have had my Y700 for 2 months. Right from the start I had the issue where it wouldn't seem to boot up, and I would have to put it to sleep a time or 2 before it would start windows. This problem seems to be solved. However, after installing the windows 10 anniversary update, the laptop will randomly 'freeze'. The keyboard will not respond, but I can still use the mouse. When I try to restart, the screen will go black, and it will not respond at all. I have to force shutdown with power button. After turning back on, it will work for 20-30 min and then do the same thing. I did a total reinstall of windows 10 and have updated bios to the 37, but it is doing the same thing. Lenovo Solutions Center does not detect hardware issues. Can someone please help me? Thanks! Here are my specs:Y700-15ISK TouchBIOS: CDCN37WWRAM: 16GBHD: 256 SSD

Can I upgrade it now or is there some extra chip missing and it will never work? Is it just keyboard that needs to be replaced?
