I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last year someone posted a question related to errors starting analyzer sessions but nobody really replied so trying again.
The specific error is:
Unable to start ETW session: MMA-ETW-<capture name>
Host Name: Localhost

A capture session exists. It must be stopped and deleted before starting a new one, e.g., using Powershell cmdlet Get-NetEventSession, Stop-NetEventSession, Remove-NetEventSession.
It seems like the <capture name> referenced above is the one I'm attempting to start and no info is provided on what's already running.  How do you enumerate what NetEventSessions are actually running?  The help on the commandlets seem to
assume you know the name or at least some information.  In my case, I'm not actually running a session capture at the moment.  I've tried killing the Message Analyzer process tree, rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling, invoking the "net session"
commandlet, and trying the Systinternals psloggedon utility to see who else might be logged onto my machine or what other sessions might be running.
This app was working great just last week.  I'm wondering if I exited incorrectly at one point and it left a process running.
On a different note, I was not happy to find that the download link on the official MS site for MA 1.4 doesn't actually work.

I've installed the MM Analyser (1.2 build 4.0.7285.0) on 3 servers (all Windows 2008 R2 VMs) however when I try a "quick trace" to validate the install (or if I set-up a new live trace session from scratch) I get the following
error on 1 of the servers:
"Unable to start ETW session MMA-ETW-Livecapture-7d771e67-a7c8-4ead-8b79-3693220f9cba
Host Name: Localhost
Provider Microsoft-PEF-NDIS-PacketCapture does not work remotely. Please create a new session without it."
Can anyone explain why I'm getting an error regarding remote execution when I'm trying to run a trace session on localhost? As stated above I only get this error on 1 of the servers, the other 2 work fine.

Hi, I get an error in Windows 10 (build 10240)
I have a local machine running Message Analyzer, wanna do a live trace to a remote computer (both running win 10,10240).
Two machines is in the same domain, local is 192.168.0.12, target is 192.168.0.121. They can ping each other.
When I try to start a new live trace, scenario: Local Network Interface:

This only seems to happen with the "Microsoft-Windows-NDIS-PacketCapture" provider. When pressing "configure" on this provider and selecting the "Provider"
tab, I get the following error:

I was followed the instruction that execute WINRM...etc., but still has error.

Doing a "netsh trace start capture=yes" from an Administrator Power shell shows
Status: running
Trace File: C:\users........\NetTrace.etl
Append: off
circular: on
max size: 250 MB
Report: off

Is there anything I missed?

Hi,
Running the Message Analyzer (1.3.1 Build 4.0.7551.0 on Windows 7) and when I'm using the local trace (New Session / Live Trace / <Select a trace scenario> / Select:
Local Network Interfaces (Win 8.1 or later) ). After I start the trace, I will receive the following error:

[Error Starting Session]
Failed to start session due to the following error(s):
Error Details:
Unable to start ETW session MMA-ETW-Livecapture-eb17533a-a342-4d72-8d37-6ceba7543d4c
Host Name: Localhost
Error in the application.

[Ok]
Based on the trace description, (Win 8.1 and later) does it mean that I'm not able to use Message Analyzer on the Windows 7 workstation?
I run the analyser as administrator.
Question from other thread:
Get-NetEventSession : The term 'Get-NetEventSession' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet...
Also this makes me wonder if I'm missing some services:

C:\>sc query pefndis

The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
Any idea to get this fixed?

I have got a ThinkCentre M83 SFF Pro Type 10AN-S02E00 that has been working for three years on the original BIOS from the year 2014, probably version FBKT74A or so. This week I moved to Windows 10 and decided to also update BIOS to the latest version, since FBKTB4A "added Win10 support" according to changes.txt, and also there has been important security fixes regarding Intel ME, so I downloaded the latest version FBKTCLA and run the update. The problem is, I know there are two parts in updating the BIOS on these systems (I also got an M93p Tiny), and in my case the first part (afudos.exe imagefb.rom /p /r) runs OK (erasing, updating and verifying main block), but the second part (afudos.exe imagefb.rom /defans /capsule /b /n /r /sp) fails right before erasing giving me15 - Error: Secure Flash function is not supported on this platformand after that no reboot and no second part of the update. After this my system boots OK and BIOS version is reported as FBKTCLA with BIOS date 11/17/2017, butboot block is FB72Aembedded controller is FBCT13ACPU microcode is 306C3_00000017 (08/16/2013)ME version is 9.0.20.1447UEFI diagnostic tool is v. 02.09.09Intel VBIOS version 1030So I got the newest BIOS, VBIOS and newest UEFI diagnostic tool but still got old boot block (should be FBCLA), EC (should be FBCT32A), CPU microcode (should be 306C3_00000021 05/10/2016) and ME firmware (should be 9.1.41.3024)The system works and I have no problems with my Windows 10 install, luckily th... Hi Everyone, Sorry if this question has been hashed out before, I've had a pretty thorough look through the posts on here and haven't been able to find much meaninful information. I have recently bought this X1 Carbon second hand (20BT) and ammongst other stuggles have been trying to get the fingerprint reader to work with win10. I have read in other posts that a large contributor to this can be an out of date bios. The BIOS version I am currently running is 1.06 (N14ET28W) dated March 2015. When trying to update the bios using the newest executable provided on the lenovo support site I receive a "Secure Flash Authentication Failed!" message then the laptop shuts down. I have tried doing more incremental updates using older versions which do give me some different results, the embedded controller version will update but I still receive the same error message re: secure flash authentication. So I ask, is there some kind of BIOS setting I have to change other than "allow end user acces to modify bios" to allow the secure flash authentication to proceed? Also how does on update the BIOS using the bootable disk option considering this laptop has no disk drive, I have tried using a USB with no success mounting the .iso so far. Any assistance you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy

it seems firefox cannot tell the difference between a crash, or if you just have the browser open while shutting down/rebooting

apparently this is a bug, but im just curious.. is there anyway for the restore session option to still be available if theres a crash, but for the message to not come up if the browsers open and you shutdown/reboot?

A:firefox restore session/start new session

That is a bug that has been entered into the bug report that may or may not be corrected in the future. As it stands now, Firefox can't distinguish between a crash and an unexpected closure.
The only options that I know for now is to type about:config in the address bar of Firefox and hit Enter. Go to browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash and set it to false
This will disable the restore session.
You could try this to disable the message, but it will always be disabled until you remove the preference.
Go into about:config and Right-click in the list and select New> String.
Enter browser.sessionstore.restore_prompt_uri as the pref's name.
Enter javascript:window.close(); as the pref's value.
Close Firefox and the message shouldn't appear. If it doesn't work, just delete the preference.

A:Could not perform start of Disc-at-once/ Session Fixation Error/ Burn process failed

I guess nobody is there to help me...
Still let me put some more info in case somebody does want to help.

1st I got my DVD replaced by Dell today. Then I burnt one DL DVD 8.5 GB disc with 7.48 data using default Windows 7. Worked fine.

2nd time I burnt 2.2 gb data into a DL DVD (8.5 GB) Disc using Nero Multimedia Suite 10 and multisession mode and then one file again in second session and both worked fine.

Thereafter I okayed the engineer who came and replaced my DVD drive. And OUCH!

After that I am again unable to burn discs. And this time I have been trying with smaller DISCs 4.7 GB ones. 6 times I tried. 4 times it gave me invalid block address error. Did a google to see that kaspersky may give problem. That is what goodle search got me. I switched off kaspersky and got burn successfully but during data verification I got data verification error. And it is true. The data did not get written properly (some of the files are corrupt- I play those file - they are MP3 files- and only part of the songs play- btw I burnt them in data mode so that is not the issue here)

And I don't know if kaspersky was the issue in burning the data since with kaspersky turned on I got data verification error once before. So out of total 6 tries I got data verification error two times and 4 times burn process failure

The logs are below one after another. Can anybody please guide? How many more DVDs do I waste before I get to the solution? And now I have a Brand New DVD writer in... Read more

A:Computer was not able to setup a secure session with a domain controller

 Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums.

If you can correctly log on to the domain, you can safely ignore event ID 5719.

Because the Netlogon service may start before the network is ready, the computer may be unable to locate the logon domain controller. Therefore, event
ID 5719 is logged. However, after the network is ready, the computer will try again to locate the logon domain controller. In this situation, the operation should be successful.

I'm down to one last error in the Administrative Event Log. Let's start with this information even though you're not having BSOD's: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

FWIW - the C000000D error is probably an "Invalid Parameter" error - which means (to me) that something is trying to launch improperly. More info on the error will help us figure out if it's within our control (such as a setting) or out of our control (such as a bug in a program).

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I'm having in Vista.

I was trying to navigate to a webpage in Chrome, and then webpages started to refuse to load past a certain point (e.g. the tab would show the page's title, but the tab itself would be entirely blank). When this happened my computer started to freeze for periods of time, after which it would do whatever I had told it to (e.g. I clicked the "x" to close Chrome, which it did after several minutes) for about a second then freeze again.

I decided to restart the PC by holding down the power button. When I turned the PC back on I got the screen saying that one or more of my disks needed to be checked for errors, but I told it to skip the disk check (bad idea, I know, but I was in a terrible mood at the time and wasn't thinking too straight). The computer then froze on that screen, so I restarted it again.

After restarting it the startup repair program ran, as Windows would not start, and took a while checking for errors before asking whether I want to run system restore, which I do. After running system restore it gives me an error message saying:

Major network problems

Been scouring the web for the NativeWifi Filter drivers for windows 7

Cannot start my WLAN Auto Config Service due to NativeWifi Filter not installed/unable to start

It keeps giving me an error saying that it doesn't exist so I restarted and now it's not even listed in the non plug-and-play section in device manager with hidden devices shown

had no problem starting up NDIS Usermode I/O Portal as per advice in other threads where it is stated to start BOTH NDIS Usermode etc. AND NativeWifi Filter

But mine has somehow disappeared from the list and would not start before that point

It was a code 24 IIRC "The device is not present, is nor not working properly or does not have all its drivers installed" - pulled that from another service that does not work

Qos Packet Scheduler is also not functioning (where I got the error from which is the same as I WAS getting with NativeWifi Filter)

If anyone has the drivers to either of these that would be greatly appreciated as I cannot use the net on my computer, so am using my brothers for anything internet related atm

Cheers =)

mj3, welcome to TSF

Do you have a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows XP?
It could be that you're trying to install flash into the IE 64 bit version???

Try the standalone installer, and see what happens:

A while back I downloaded a movie to watch. Some flash player install file came up when I tried to open it, and of course it was a virus. Since then, I get search redirects, have vitamax erectile ads on every ad box on pages, am unable to update AVG or Spybot S&D or Malwarebyte programs, receive a script error when AVG tries to run, receive clean scans when I do run them (just ran Malwarebyte full scan 5 minutes ago, found 2 infections in 114000 files), am unable to update or load Flash onto Firefox, get occasional lockups when launching IE 7, and most recently I freeze up at a black screen or at the log in page on Windows startup. I am typing this in a Safe Mode launch of my PC.

Attached is the DDS file. I also ran Hijack This and ComboFix if those logs are needed as well. Thanks for any and all help, I would like to avoid having to reformat my stuff.

For some reason I have been unable to schedule/record a session using my Delphi MyFi XM radio. I can record using the simple one-button recording method, but somehow I haven't been able to get the session-scheduling function to work.

I am able to set up the session okay (how often?, time, date, channel). As instructed, I have the unit plugged into the home stand, with the AC adaptor connected. Also, the home antenna is connected with a signal being received. Then I turn the unit off like the manual says, and the display reads as follows: Battery Status - Charging Complete. At this point, as far as I know, I have set up everything by the book. So I walk away from the unit for a few hours and return to listen to my presumably stored programming. However, when I go to My XM the display indicates that nothing is stored.

I called Delphi's Tech Support, but was on hold forever, so I finally hung up and came here.

Could someone please tell me what might be wrong? Am I missing an extra set-up step? I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might have a solution my problem.

A:MyFi XM radio - unable to schedule session

I just had my problem solved at another forum.

For anyone who might have the same problem, the user's manual left out one crucial step. After setting up the session, it is then necessary to click the Menu button. You will receive a message telling you that the session has been set. Then you turn off the unit.

I have a user at work in our work domain. She had a seperate issue in which I RDP'd to her computer to fix. She stated that ever since I have remoted onto her PC, that when she reconnected to RDP via VPN from home... then disconnected as usual and came in the next day that she could not log back on to what she had running in her RDP session the prior night. She checked and cannot find anything in the event log in that perhaps it may have rebooted or updates forced a restart. She does not have any disconnect timers on her AD user account for sessions to timeout. I did nothing but remote onto her machine and try loading an internal admin website logon page and it worked fine then I logged off RDP. We both have XP machines at work with SP3. I'm not sure what VPN client or OS she is running at home where she's normally remoted from. She was specific in that it started happening after I remoted on with my domain account remotely. Nothing has changed in any of her processes or software on either her client or remote PC's. Thoughts?

Migrated to Win 7 from XP Pro.
I have client VM's that I need to monitor from time to time. In a crisis I might have to open 100 RDP sessions at one time. I could do this in XP with a paging problem. This is one of the reasons I built this monster. I now have 6 monitors and 12 Gig of ram.

Alas I can only open 15 RDP sessions at a time without having Win7 attempt to scan for viruses.

Also is there a way to globally set ( or preserve ) the Registry data for RDP network connections. I have never been able to find a way to migrate a section of the registry from one machine to another. I have to enter in the user name and password for each of these users again. 200 plus.

Thanks for this forum many head aches have been averted.

You should be able to disable the Win 7 virus scan by disabling Windows defendor real time protection. I'm not sure why it's doing that.

Turn Windows Defender on or off

You can use the Group Policy Editor to make global changes to your network. I'm not sure if you can perform global changes to the registry or not. You may have to do some reading in the second link to figure out how to change the registry using the GPE. The paragraph below was copied from the second link.

You can use the GPRegistryValue cmdlets to change registry-based policy settings and the GPPrefRegistryValue cmdlets to change registry preference items. For information about the registry keys... Read more

Hi there

A challenging question for you gurus out there. one of my windowXP Pro machines has a problem with its remote desktop service. I am sure it wasn't the firewall.

Everytimes a machine (client) try to connect to it (server) with remote desktop, I saw from the Process Explorer that there were 2 new processes created (csrsss.exe & winlogon.exe) in the server machine but were dropped immediately.

There was no error messages to both client and server sides. From the client side point of view, it feels like the server machine is not responding.

any idea?

thanks in advance!

I recently bought a new Dell PC with Windows 10 and have an issue when starting the PC. The PC starts normally but upon operational the PC freezes for a moment. Then I am unable to load pages in my browser (main browser is Chrome but the same happens with Edge) and after several minutes some pages load very (extremely) slowly. However, I noticed that videos (e.g., youtube ), still do not load. Pinned programs to my task bar change from unresponsive to possible to open and back. Within Chrome I also get a “Page unresponsive” message after few minutes for open pages and that “A plugin (Shockwave Flash) isn’t responding”. For instance I can use this forum without any issues but at the same time I cannot load the dell page at all. I am also unable to play an AVI file already on my PC. After restarting several times and waiting some time (>30 min) it suddenly works again without any issues. What could it be and how can I fix it? All help appreciated!

Go into your Bios/Setup, or Boot Menu, at startup, and change the Boot Order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the Boot Order, then reboot with the disk in the Drive.

Present sytem windows XP home edition. I tried to reinstall Windows rom CD and received a message that the OS on the computer was newer tha the SP1a I had. Decided to uninstall SP2 and apparently stooped before it was complete. Now upon starting the computer the Windows logo and all appears then the box appears stating. "WINLOGON.EXE entry point not found". The PROCEDURE ENTRY POINT SHRregGerValueW could not be locate din the dynamic link library SHLAWPI.dll. At this point I click Ok and the screen becomes black, nothing else happens. I then rebooted and tried to start from the original XP start up disk, nothing. the Drive can be heard whirring but is not reading anything. I tried to configure the bios to read the XP start up cd , no dice. Any suggestions , thanks. Cannot get any further than teh Winlogon error message.

A:WINLOGON.exe error, unable to start

Ouch! This one is VERY bad. If you have files saved to the hard drive you will need to take out the hard drive and save them using it as a secondary hard drive.

That missing file is mandatory to get accessed for login to succeed.

You will need to reinstall windows. There is no way around it.

What can I do to fix this error?

My OS is Windows Seven (7).

A:0xc0000005 app was unable to start error?

The answer on Yahoo was a) Incorrect b) Spam.

The tutorial you linked applies to XP - this means the the drivers that are part of the ASUS WLAN Control Center are probably incompatible with Windows 7.

Incompatible drivers are one of the main causes of the many BSODs I deal with every day, so I do not recommend using the above even if you manage to get it working.

Look around for another tutorial - or alternatively you may want to try installing it in XP Mode.

Hi

Hope someone can help.

I've been asked to gain a security accrediation for my company and during the initial vulnerability scans (Nessus), we have a number of 8.1 PCs (which we will have until early next year so can't just get shot of them) that are failing because of an outdated
and unsupported version of Adobe Flash Player, specifically:

The following unsupported Flash player controls were detected :
Product : ActiveX control (for Internet Explorer)
  Path : C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash.ocx
  Installed version : 11.8.800.175
  Supported versions : 19.x / 18.x

We have installed:

The latest Windows Security Updates for Adobe Flash Player - July 2018 (KB4338832)
The latest Adobe Flash Players (all three types) all at version 30.0.0.134

I need to get flash.ocx, FlashUtil_ActiveX.dll and FlashUtil_ActiveX.exe version 11.8.800.175 updated to at least version 19 but I cannot find any installer or way to do this. I have also tried taking ownership of these files and have on some machines had
success at removing them manually, but for some reason its not allowing me to do it on all of the affected PCs.

Could anyone help me figure out a way to update these to the latest version as its going to fail me my security accrediation.

The Hotmail Session Start page has a handy feature of showing the last "Windows Live ID:"s that have logged in HotMail, and it happens when you click the "Windows Live ID:" text box.

I made a mistake typing my email address along with my password, then this information is present in this email list for everyone that uses my computer.

I'm not looking forward to disabling it but to emtying it.

I guess that it must be a cookie or something, but when I run CCleaner (it erases all cookies), this list remains untammed.

What could I do?

I'm using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9.
