Q: M910q Desktop and Tiny-In-One 24 issues

HiI just bought a Lenovo Tiny-In-One 24 FHD IPS LCD Touchscreen Monitor and hooked up with my M910q tiny. The display remains blank and it seems that no signal is being sent to DP from my tiny. M910q Tiny works just fine when it is connect to an external monitor. Not sure whats going on. The light is on on both the systems although monitor goes off after several seconds. I also tried to turn on/off the system several time with no success. Note that the monitor has 90W ac adpater to power both the tinies.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recall reading that they can be somewhat tricky to get seated /connected correctly. You might try reseating again.

I'm still trying to determine appropriate part numbers for the bracket and SATA/Power cable that the 2.5" 7mm drives in the current gen Tiny's use.  So far my VAR has not been able to get this info through their Lenovo resources. If anyone has an M710q or M910q with a 2.5" drive in it, would you be willing to look inside for part #'s on the bracket that holds the drive and the SATA/Power cable?  Pictures would be awesome if you are willing to proide those as well.

There is no option for USB Type C optional connector order customize page for Lenovo M910 Tiny. But that option is mentioned in the PDF spec and on the product page.

Is it a bug of the customize page, error in spec or temporary unavalilability? I'm in US, if region is important.

Does anyone where able to order M910 Tiny with USB Type C option?

Another question is if LG Ultrafine HKMY2VC/A 24.5" 4K Display will be supported then? It has USB Type C only connector as far as I know.

There is a second M.2 port / socket (or something that have the size of the M.2 port / socket). What is it for? Why not in spec? Can second NVME M.2 SSD could be installed there? Or is it for Intel Optane or what?

The port is drawn on page 6 of HMM for M910q (https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m910q_ug_hmm_en.pdf). There is no description provided there.

Morning, Trying to figure out something here, this is, for all intents and purposes, something new for me, as I've been mostly a "Mom n Pop" Tech vs "Business Tech" so, anyway. I'm working with M900, and M910Q with Intel 530 Integrated for video. I'm trying to trouble the following issues to verify if I missed anything, before punting said minipcs to Lenovo for RMA. Anywho, issues: 1. A M910Q, only the DP port with the metal bracket will work. When the Primary is plugged in, any secondary plugged into the other ports will show up under that port when looking at it in the Intel GFX Display view. I figured this out when I changed the resolution on the 2nd monitor, primary changes. Primary is the live monitor. 2. We have a number of M910s and M900's where when trying to use dual monitors, thru DP -> VGA or DP -> DVI. Monitors would flicker like strobe lights. This can sometimes be bandaided by swapping cables and adapters, but not completely remove the issue. I will point out that we do not have any actual DP Capable monitors on site. Not yet anyway, and those that will be, are going to ThinkCentres with Discrete Cards in them... Ideas? Am I miss anything? I don't see anything in the BIOS to help me, and updating the drivers doesn't seem to provide resolution either. Most are running old drivers, but a few are running the latest for the machine.

For all of our desktops we have the display set to turn off after 1 hour of inactivity to save power and extend the life of the monitor.  With the Tiny-In-One 24 & M700 Tiny, once the monitor turns off, it won't wake back up by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard.  The Tiny is still running just fine I can remote to it from another machine but even remoting to it and logging in does not wake the screen.  This is with the TIO running in AIO mode.  The only way to wake the screen is to use the user controls on the front of the monitor to switch to DP mode and back to AIO mode.

Is this a know bug?  Running Windows 7 and I've already reinstalled all drivers and ran the lenovo system update utility and everything is up-to-date.  I also set the display to turn off after only a minute to do more testing and about 1 in every 10 tries, the monitor will wake up normally.  The rest of the time I have to use the user controls on the front of the monitor.

I'm having a really strange issue with my desktop icons. They've become super tiny, and if the icons normally have a transparent background they get a white box behind them. Oddly enough a few of the shortcuts are completely normal.

I've tried resizing them with the context menu as well as with Ctrl + Mouse Wheel. They do not resize no matter what I do. I've also tried manually recreating all of the shortcuts with no success.

Hi sudieken welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Those desktop icons look fairly normal to me for small icons. Have you tried right clicking your mouse on the desktop & selecting View. This will give you the option of Large, Medium & Small Icons.

Hi all, I've had my Yoga 3 Pro for a couple of years & although I like processing speed & 'guts' of the machine I am having issues with the following;Tiny Scaling  The icons in the top left are TINY & clickable areas like below 'All Documents' even smaller. I've read this is due to applications not built for the correct resolution but I read that years ago for the Pro 2, surely, these issues have been resolved now?? P.S. The battery life is AWFUL - I get about 3 hours from a full charge using typical stuff like WORD, very uncool! Does anyone know of any fixes for this scaling issue? Thank you.

My organization has purchased a number of M700 Tiny units, So far there have been a few minor issues but nothing spectacular. But one issue we keep coming across is a dual monitor problem on machines with only one monitor connected. The problem is the user comes in and turns on the machine and gets past the HDD password we have setup and then gets into windows and all they see is a black screen. Ifthey move the mouse to the screen they can see it. We get a call about a black screen and nothing on it. We go to the system and find it is plugged in and all is good. Windows 10 is acting like it has dual monitors setup but the unit has never had a second screen connected to it. The M700 has dual Display Ports on it. I am finding this issue on either of the two ports but usually the one not close to the power adapter. If the monitor is plugged into the one mentioned I moved it to the one closest to the power and that seems to resolve the issue for most. Every now and the problem is with the one closest to the power adapter. I have run all the system updates from Lenovo System Updater and still find this randomly happens. I am guessing this is a windows 10 issue. The machines do not yet have the anniversary update. That is something we are planning on rolling out soon. Does anyone have any suggestiongs for this type of problem? Has any one else experienced this?

Hi,

I just installed the trial version of the Tiny Personal Firewall 3.0....I heard it was a pretty good in comparison to Zone Alarm...actually i heard it was much better.....

well I am having a few problems with it already...but I woudl like to solve them so I can really start testing out the program..

1. Soulseek. This is an MP3 file-sharing network....I use it to host a room where people can download my tracks.....and also to downoad some of my fav tunes...

when i start Soulseek, Tiny keeps on asking me if it shoudl be allowed to contact the web...even though i tell it to allow it, Tiny keeps on asking me....it did this a few times, eachtime changing the the Soulsek executable (slsk.exe) to slsk.exe#1, slsk.exe#2, etc.

finally it stopped asking me, but now when i start Soulseek it takes quite a long time to load, and then when it loads it loads as if it was being loaded for the first time (asking me for my username and pasword, etc.)

when i disable Tiny, Soulseek starts and runs properly.

What exactly is going wrong with Tiny and Soulseek??? why the heck is it not allowing Soulseek to run properly??
# 2. When i download anything from the web (using IE), may it be a download from downloads.com, or a file from microsoft.com, Tiny blocks it.....when i check the activity windows it tells me that the transfer was blocked....

i know for a fact that IE was preconfigured in Tiny..so what is going wrong??? again, when i disable Tiny, I can download anything with no proble... Read more

Hello all, I'm having quite the issue with a batch of Lenovo M700 (10HY 21US) tinys. I've had at least a dozen with displayport issues. We purchased them in bulk from our vendor about 9 months ago, and are just now getting around to using them to replace older models. We're running Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise. We're running into issues with the monitors connected thru the displayport to VGA cutting out. It doesn't matter which port we use, the monitor will still cut out. We've tried different displayport adapters, we've tried different monitors, etc. It seems to happen regardless of hardware brand. We've also managed to run Lenovo system update, update the bios and all of the drivers, etc. We're very stumped at the moment because after everything we have tried the monitors will still cut out and come back on. It's definitely NOT a monitor issue. Also, there is no VGA port on the M700 model we have. If we use a 3rd party USB to VGA adapter we have no issues, it's just the displayport to VGA that we have issues with. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

...as well as distorted images in certain windows and red 'blotches" (sorry, best descriptive term I could come up with) on radio selection buttons in menus. Just did a clean install of windows. Could it be a driver issue? I installed a newer graphics card during the install (FX5200). I didn't have this issue before the install (or before the new vid card).

My specs:

MSI 865 PE Neo2 mobo
Celeron 2.4GHZ
1.0 GB PC3200 DDR400 RAM
WD Caviar 120GB @ 7200rpm, WD Caviar 60GB @ 7200RPM

Windows XP Home w/ SP2

Thanks in advance for any insight.

A:Tiny colored dots all over my desktop....

when installing a new graphics card, you need to unsintall the current gfx card driver too then reinstall it. heres how:

1. Unplug nic card or modem from net or disconnect. (I never do this)

2. Disable any AntiVirus Software. If you don't disable, it could give you trouble. (This either)

3. Uninstall current vid driver (If you have an nVidia mobo and a nVidia vidcard, make sure you only uninstall the video driver, not all nVidia drivers or your mobo will lose its drivers also.)

4. Reboot

5. As the reboot comes up, after the quick memory test and hard drives have been recognized, hit F8 and enter "SAFE MODE." On some boards if you hit F8 too early you will enter other utilities.

6. On reboot into safe mode WinXP SP1/SP2 will auto detect and ask you to install drivers. You should be able to can cancel out of the auto install hardware wizard move to step #7. If you can NOT cancel out of auto detect wizard then, navigate to device manager->display adapters->highlight (nVidia, ATI, etc.) and click uninstall or remove but don't reboot. (From Driver Cleaner ReadMe, modified for clarity by Rike)

7. Run Driver Cleaner with the filter for the driver (nVidia, ATI, etc.) you just uninstalled . Quit DriverCleaner and restart into Windows XP normal mode.

8. Install new vid driver. Note for SLI users: sometimes the driver doesn't install for both cards. To ensure proper installation, you should check in Device Manager to be sure the dr... Read more

I've been having an issue using an external DVD drive with an M Series "tiny." Have tried Buffalo and Sony brand drives, neither of which seem to work correcty. If there's no DVD in the drive, the drive will connect fine and display, but once a DVD is in, it'll connect and immedietly disconenct in a cycle that lasts about 5 seconds each time. Weird that the same issue happens on two different brands of drives, which is why I think it may be an issue with the Tiny.

Windows 7 laptop, Dell

A week or so ago I noticed this tiny 2 tone gray rectangle showing up at the bottom right of my screen, right above the 'Desktop' bar next to date/time. It has what looks like the left half of a white 'O'.

Oddly, it is always on top - what ever program I am using.

I don't know what its size in pixels is, but it is about 1/4" x 1/2" on my screen.

I can click on it and move it around while on desktop only, when on another screen other than desktop, it stays put. At no time can I right or left click on it and get any kind of reaction.

In this image of it, I moved it up from the date bar into a blue background:
http://blueroseweb.com/images/gray-icon-show-up-on-screen.jpg

An exhaustive search online shows only a mention of maybe Dell backup, but that post did not show a picture. I do have Dell backup, but I have never before seen this icon and clicking on it does nothing.

Virus? I' m using Avast. Malware?

edit: Just got done running Malwarebytes - said computer was totally clean.

Hi m_39_81, welcome to the forums,

from a cold start you should press the Enter key or F11 to bring up the recovery options, you should then be able to recover the system to it's original* state when you received it.
*N.B.  If MS office came preinstalled this will not be recovered but can be downloaded from MS using your MS account or Office license number.

Hi Everyone, Our customers who use Lenovo M700 tiny to run our java based application for french pharmacys encounter frequent flickering issues on their computer. We have other customers who face exactly the same problem on computers from other brands. The common point between all these customers seems to be that all these computers use the intel hd 510/530 graphics.a zipped flickering video example is attached to this post.We updated every bios/graphic/chipset driver we could without any positive result. As a Lenovo trade partner , we asked Lenovo for support but until there, no result either. This morning , i downloaded the last available Intel HD 510 driver on the Intel support Website, which driver is not yet available on Lenovo M700 support page. I hope this will work (i'll tell you if so), the release notes tell it corrects flickering problems for games like Doom3D and others... The goal of this post is to show the community an example of our flickering issue and to know if anyone already encountered such a problem like this. Could you please let me know if it already happened to you ?Thanks for your replies B. Hello - Just received my M900 Tiny last week and an very impressed.  However, there is one nagging issue I wish Intel and Lenovo would address.  The HD 530 Graphics Driver has issues.  There is a thread on the Intel site with numerous complaints of screen flickering or parts of the screen turning black for a second before returning to normal.  This is happening to me.  Intel says they are working on it.  In addition to the issues I've encoutered above, I've received at least three system messages that the HD 530 Graphics driver has momentarily failed but then recovered.  I've contacted Lenovo on the phone, but the service person was not very confident on directing me to the latest driver.  She first directed me to drivers for discreat graphic adapters, but then sent me to the generic video driver page for the M900 Desktops.  Since none of the machines listed specifically indicated M900 Tiny - some mentioned M700 Tiny - I'm holding off until I get a good understanding if the driver will correct the problem.. Since M900 Tiny was recently released I do not think much is available yet for driver updates. The three system messages indicated the driver was for Windows 8.1 and I have a Windows 10 system.  So I hope Lenovo can get the fix soon (update it for Windows 10) and apply it via the Lenovo Companion software.    Is anyone else having similar issues with thier M900 Tiny? Here is the ... Well I've downloaded the video driver for the HD530 from the Lenovo site - same driver support told me to install.  Well the install did absolutley nothing - still the same flickering issues and "black" screen flashes when jumping between folders in Outlook 2016.  I'm getting a warning that the HD Graphics driver has failed momentarily but recovered (for Windows 8.1).  Strange because I'm running Windows 10 Home Guess I'm going to have to escalate the issue through Intel since Lenovo does not have an updated video driver.  My driver has a date of 10/1/2015 and a version of 20.19.15.4300.  You would think Lenovo would have resolved this issue before they released a new model.

Have an M900 and attached VGA from monitor to VGA adaptor. Display flashes intermittently. Monitor works fine with other desktop. M900 only has displayport and USB ports. Do i need to purchase another monitor? Monitor has DVI and VGA options, but feel that the adaptor is the issue, so even a DVI cable would cause same issue. Please help.

I was setting up my new machine, 8.1 plus Classic Shell. Tiny copies of every Desktop icon I had set up appeared in a block, to the right of the Taskbar. I had to switch off, and on rebooting later, I cannot find how to remove them!

A:remove tiny copies of all desktop icons on bottom line?

It should be in the settings of Classic Shell. Or you should be able to right click and choose "Delete".

I want to purchase a ThinkCentre M720q Tiny model 10T7 together with a Tiny-In-One 22 (or 24) Gen3 monitor model 10R1 or 10QY.
But when I look into the User's Guide of the TIO22Gen3 or TIO24Gen3 I don't see the M720 listed on the page of the supported Tinys that can be installed in the monitor.
The ports on the rear of the M720q should indicate that it is compatible and should fit into a TIO22Gen3 (or TIO24Gen3).
But I am not sure.
Even the PSREF doesn't list the M720 in the Tiny-In-One compatibility list. I have looked into PSREF Version 534 from December 2018.

Can somebody confirm the compatibiity of a M720q and the TIO Gen3 monitors?

Thanks.

A:M720q M920q Tiny: Is it compatible with Tiny-In-One TIO Gen3 monitors (10R1 10QY)

Apologies for the delay.  Yes, all Generation 2 Tiny (M73,M93) and newer are compatible with all TIO.   The only exceptions are the workstation and extreme models.  Ex.  M920x, P330

I have the M92p Tiny and would like to get my temps down. My idle temps hang around 50c and just some average tasks bring that up to 80c quickly.First, what is the weird socket this has? The LGA1150 cooler I have doesn't fit this one - the screw holes are in different spots. Are there any available aftermarket CPU cooler options out there for the M92p? I don't mind keeping the case open with a huge cooler. I see the M93p has a proper heatsink, anyone knows how cross compatible these machines are? Can I swap the fan and heatsink from a M93p onto my M92p?

Can anyone with a M710/M910 Tiny please run RW Everything and save the full PCI data to a file and attach it to this thread. If you run Linux instead the command is 'lspci -vvv -xxx' (run as root). I think they have fixed the m.2 PCIe/NVMe SSD bug in the UEFI for it based on the recent changelog entry. If they have then we should be able to get them to fix it for the m900 Tiny as well. In particular I'm interested in the bytes 4Ch - 4Fh in the PCI configuration space for each of the PCIe ports. RWEverything CHANGES for M1AKT15A

I am looking to add a 2.5" 7mm drive into an M710q Tiny that shipped with a M.2 NVMe SSD.   Looks like I need a backet and a cable, but I cannot figure out what are the correct parts based on the parts list. I'm hoping someone has access to necessary materials and would be able to identify the correct parts.  Or, if someone ha sam M710q Tiny (or an M910q Tiny) with a 2.5" drive, pull part numbers off the bracket/cable?

Hi,

I just bought the M910X tiny desktop and 2 identical Lenovo ThinkCentre monitors. I installed the desktop into one of the monitors, which works fine. How do I connect the second monitor to the PC? It seems like the DisplayPort showing on the back of the monitor is only for plugging a separate device into the screen, not video out to a second monitor from the PC. Is that right?

Sorry if this is a stupid question!

Thank you

When you say "installed into a monitor", it's a Tiny-in-One monitor?  It would help to know which model.  Pretty sure you would need to connect the 2nd monitor direct to the Tiny itself, is there a way to do that with it installed in the monitor?

HDMI to DisplayPort or DisplayPort to HDMI? Most likely the latter?Assuming the latter, is it an active or passive converter?

I am trying to determine the difference between the M920q Tiny and the M920x Tiny base units. The specifications are not clear about the differences, they seem virtually identical with enourmous overlap in their configuration options but they are described as having two different machine types. M920x Machine Type = 10S1 and M920q Machine Type = 10RS. There is so much overlap that it appears to be possible to literally build an M920x and M920q with identical configurations other than the Machine Type. I suspect the difference is something about the motherboard, but they both use the same Q370 Chipset and have the same Tiny form factor case. The Q version seems to only accept the 35W CPU's (for example the i7-8700T 2.4GHz) and the X version can be configured with the 65W CPU's (for example the i7-8700 3.2GHz). It appears that both can be configured with an adapter that allows use of a low profile PCIe card in place of the various "rear port options". However, the X models list some versions with an add-in PCIe card for the AMD Radeon 560 4GB GPU which are only configured with the 35W CPUs. This leads me to believe the difference may simply be increased power and/or cooling in the X models, but both the Q and X models can be configured with the 135W Power Supply. It's entirely unclear, but I also suspect the X model might have a second M.2 slot for a second SSD stick, because specs for the X mention support for RAID 0/1. I've spent hours pouring over the available onli... I have an M900 Tiny that has a intermittent problem with dropping brightness on the displayport out. I'm not setting it anywhere. Sometimes when coming out of sleep (windows 7 x64 Pro) it just won't send video. I can swap the DP cable to another monitor and the problem is the same. A hard reboot solves it, leading me to think it's definitely something WRT the sleep/video configuration. I've had it running in Maximum Performance power mode with no OS sleep settings, just 'turn off the monitor after 6 minutes'. The video driver version is: 20.19.15.4474 This is a somewhat recent problem, as it hasn't always done this. Anyone run into a similar situation? And found an actual fix/solution? Not just guesses, please.

Hello Everyone,Lenovo Sales wasn't much help.  M900 Tiny and M700 Tiny owners, what features/performances are available on the M900 Tiny that the M700 Tiny doesn't have?   My M700 Tiny config; i7-6700T 2.8G, Windows 10 Home, 16G DDR4 SoDIMM, Wireless Intel 8260 AC(2x2)+BT4.1 Tiny, Slim DVD Recordable device, 2 Display Port inputs, 1 HDMI input  Same components as available for the M900 Tiny but the M700 Tiny is still cheaper.  The M900Tiny has Intel vPro (Don't need it), supports RAM up to 32GB (Don't need it), supports PCIe Storage <<< I thought the M700 Tiny has supports this too because M.2 component is available?   Is the same motherboard used for both models?  Would the M700 Tiny performance be the same if configured with the same components as the M900 Tiny? Thanks in advance,Ricky

Different Intel chipset implies a different motherboard.   Providing processor, memory, storage is the same speed, I would suspect that the performance is the same or similar.

Have my eyes on both models for a while. The main difference as I can tell they use difffernt Chipset: M710 -B250 Chipset, M910-Q270 Chipset. They both supports M.2 NVMe SSD which I will use as the OS drive unlike the M700/M900 pair. I prabably won't need V-pro as this will be my personal desktop at home. My question is that is there any reason that I should consider M910 over M710 tiny for my home usage? I know there are more 24 PCIe lanes on the Q270 Chipset over that 12 lanes on B250. But I don't think M910 tiny took advantage of that, am I right?

Pulled the latest Tiny (with the now optional VGA port) out of its box this morning, and was treated to a blank monitor (no signal) while the box blinked and did what looked like its boot routine.  Called support, and they went with the branch script and ordered me a new motherboard after confirming that I didn't want to just replace the entire unit. (Motherboard installed in 2 days max won over new machine from Mexico in a week). Since I wasn't happy with the fault finding script, I decided to pop the lid off the box (not sure why I didn't do that in the first place) and... lo and behold, there was the VGA cable, looped and pinched between the HDD cradle and its structural mount (the HDD is in a frame that clips into the case structure). I unclipped the HDD frame, straightened the loop, fiddled with the cable and rolled the wires inside around a bit (it's in a woven jacket) and turned the computer back on. The fiddling moved everything inside around enough to get rid of whatever shorts the crushed wires had created and voila - the VGA port works. So, now I know with 100% certainty that it's a damaged cable, so I immediately get back on the phone with support and let them know that they can cancel the motherboard and just ship a VGA connector/cable assembly to the local tech.  After a couple of holds to discuss my suggestion, the service tech informed me that they were shipping a motherboard anyway (???) since it probably had the VGA cable and connector at...
