* STEP TWO: GOTO http://www.mediafire.com/?ddvjyk5gzne
DOWNLOAD AND SAVE FILE hp_total_care_advisor.rar (11.41MB) TO DESKTOP

* STEP THREE: GOTO http://h30155.www3.hp.com/helpandsupport/

THEN RUN FILE sp36082.exe(5.61 MB)

* STEP FOUR: GOTO http://www.filehippo.com
in the searchbar @ filehippo.com [type] winrar

download and save WinRAR 3.70
RARLab - 1.15MB (Shareware) to desktop

* Step Five:go to explore and Program Files folder, and open folder Hewlet-Packard, and delete the subfolder HP ADVISOR
* Step Six: run WinRAR 3.70 RARLab - 1.15MB (Shareware) and extract the rar file hp_total_care_advisor.rar you saved on your desktop
* Step Seven: your HP TOTAL CARE ADVISOR should be installed and have created a new subfolder HP Advisor in the HEWLETT-PACKARD Program Files folder,
* Step Eight: Go to the application HP Advisor file in the newly created HP Advisor Subfolder create a shortcut to desktop for the application and then run the application.
Everything should be fine from there on out and it is your option to place the application to run on startup or not in your msconfig settings, I choose not so that I have the additional RAM available to run the system faster and the application as needed instead of on startup.

* Step Nine: After everything is running as it should and all your setting are as you need them and would like them, Then run System restore again and choose the advanced tab and select to Create a new Restore point and Name it After InstalL Setup of "_______" previous named point afterward and again to secure your system integrity as you did in the begining.[/B]

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Of late this program is not working properly, particularly PC Health Check. When I click on the updates to run it says "string was not recognized as valid date and time". Should I uninstall the program (HP Total Care Advisor). But I do not find this program for download at HP Support Site. Pl. help!!!!

Here is the support and software updates site for your HP Pavilion dv9308nr laptop. I suggest that you keep this site in your browser favorites list or put a shortcut link to this site on your desktop so you can refer to it when needed.

I've read several negative comments about HP Total Care Advisor and would advise against continuing to use it. It's among the first of the HP/Compaq crap that came in my new desktop that I uninstalled. You can read comments about it here in the HP/Compaq forums.

I was told by HP to uninstall HP Total Care Advisor and go :http://www.mediafire.com/?ddvjyk5gzne and download & save file hp_total_care_advisor.rar (11.41MB) to desktop.

After uninstalling HP Total Care Advisor, I put the above address to go to and I got a error message telling me that that file doesn't exist.

Does anyone have an idea on how I can perform the 9 steps that they gave me after not being able to get to the file to download it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I made a restore point, so I will go back and select that point. The error message that I get when trying to run the file is: HP Advisor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Also when I tried to do a restore earlier at two different dates, I get the error message: An unspecified error occurred during system restore. System Restore did not complete successfully.

perhaps I'm just stupid.....the HP Total Care Advisor doesn't recognize that I have Norton Antivirus installed (properly, I might add). The Advisor also telss me (constantly) that the Back Up to Drive D failed due to lack of space....it's a new computer and doesn't have anything but a few Security Programs and Vista on it - a backup attempt indicates that 0 space would be freed up and that HP_Recovery D is empty!!!

I have factory installed HP Vista Home Premium 32 bit installed on the C partition and retail Vista Ultimate 64 bit installed on the E partition. The HP partition has a feature called HP Total Care Advisor preinstalled. Since I mainly use Vista Ultimate, I would like to know if it is possible to install this feature on the E partition. I have looked on the internet and found some threads dealing with this subject - mainly just moving the HP Advisor folder from Program Files to Program Files(x86) and placing a shortcut to the executable on the desktop. Doing it in this way does not result in the full functionality of the feature.

I would like to know if anyone has any idea how you can install HP Total Care Advisor on a retail version of Windows Vista?

A:HP Total Care Advisor

See if this link helps, just point the install to the E partition if you are booting to it.

I just purchased a HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop computer. I keep getting pop-up windows about registering my HP and Easy Internet set-up. I can't get rid of the pop-ups. I have tried everything. For the Easy Internet set-up I have clicked yes to go to the set-up page and then clicked Finish and I have clicked "no don't remind me again" and it still keeps coming back. I have searched for "Easy Internet set-up" and deleted the shortcuts as well as something that was on my desktop that when I clicked took me to the "Easy Internet set-up". Nothing works. Now I have the same problem with the registration pop-up. I have completed the registration and clicked "no, don't remind me again", but to no avail. Can anyone tell what to do to get ride of these pop ups. They are very annoying.

A:Problem with pop-ups from HP Total Care advisor

Do Start > Run > MSCONFIG > Startup tab
Look for a task that looks like HP Register, Reminder, etc
UNselect that entry
On reboot you will get a warning from Configuration that you have made changes.
Answer Don't warn me again.
And, the pop ups should be gone.

If not, post back.

I have been having some ongoing trouble for a few weeks now, with a blue screen and the PC continuously restarting after booting up. I've done two or three system restores and created a new user profile at the suggestion of non-professional computery friends. Antivirus scans identified four files as infected with malware and quarantined them. After the most recent system restore, I seem to be OK and have rebooted successfully several times.

When I run Windows Update, it tells me my system is up to date. But if I open HP Total Care Advisor, it says I need to install a batch update to correct an error in connecting to the printer. I clicked on "Run Selected Updates" and the next dialog box said, "After running the following updates, please check the PC Action Center for additional updates as some must be ran individually." The typo ('ran' instead of 'run') was a red flag, so I tried alt+F4, and finally had to ctrl+alt+del to close HP Advisor. I have had no trouble printing.

Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!

A:WIndows Update vs HP Total Care Advisor

I guess I don't see the problem .

Microsoft critical updates are generated for the sake of system security.

Microsoft optional updates...are user preference items that have nothing to do with O/S security.

Microsoft driver updates...are best ignored, IMO. The best place to get updates for drivers...is the website of the system manufacturer or the component manufacturer.

I know nothing about HP systems and HP software...but I'm sure that they have documentation at their website...for any suggested downloads for the systems they make.

When I first got my HP Pavilion dv7-1450us, I turned the preference to make the TCA dock onto the system tray after start up. Once I made this change, it never worked again, I would always get system errors when trying to open the TCA, whether it be by double-clicking the system tray icon or going to the start menu. I was unable to even open the software to change the preferences to not open on start-up. So today, I decided to uninstall the software, since I've had the computer for 3 months and have not once used it. After I uninstalled it, I started having problems with the fan not ever going off oor quieting down. I can't imagine that the two are related, but I've never had fan issues before. Any thoughts out there? I'm not computer dumb, but this has stumped me.

After login, the Care Advisor says firewall is turned off, I turn it on select apply and ok, and it's on. I'll check later and it is off again. I'm clueless.

A:HP Total Care - Firewall Turns Off

Are you talking about the Windows Firewall (which comes with your install of your OS), or the OneCare firewall (which is a seperate firewall included in OneCare)?

OneCare disables Windows Firewall, and your firewall settings are then handled by OneCare. Is your OneCare icon green? If so, you're being protected by OneCare's firewall.

There appears to be some interference between the Vista Firewall and the OneCare Firewall. HP's "Total Care Advisor" on the HP Pavilion Media Center keeps indicating that the Vista Firewall is OFF even though the OneCare Firewall is ON. When OneCare disabled the Vista Firewall didn't get disabled.
HP says that the problem was with the OneCare software. I do not know if this is true or not.

This sounds like it will become a standoff between HP and Microsoft...

I unstalled Comodo Time Machine after I realized I had made a mistake in setting it up, and then when I tried to re-install it (there was no option to go back and rectify my mistake), it told me the software was "already installed on my computer" and would not re-install.
I used Revo Uninstaller to remove the program, then CCcleaner to tidy up, and also went thorough my registry with CCleaner and manually checking for breadcrumbs and stuff CCleaner tends to miss.

BTW, specs:
I am running XP Professional Edition, service pack 3.
I use Rising Anti-Virus (never had a problem).
I've also tried Glary Utilities (desperate) to no avail.
CTM still thinks it is installed on my computer. I am sure there are little lurking elements somewhere where I can't find them with my limited skills. When I startup, there is a CTM splash screen detailing how it is "creating a restore point," although no other related files to this can be found, as far as my digging has shown me. Additionally, I have tried re-downloading the program and reinstalling, to no avail. Still tells me the program is already installed.

I would like to get rid of the splash screen, and remove all remaining parts of the program. This make be as simply as deleting the logo file from my system, but since I like to run a clean machine I want to make sure to scrub the rest of the traces, if there are any. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I know that I have 4 GB of ram, I know this because I installed them myself and I can see the chips plugged in.

But everytime I run dxdiag or system information or something, it just gives me the total ram that's not being used up. Before it was 3068MB but now it dropped to 2812MB when I got my new video card.

Is there any way to see how much ram you have without it just telling you how much ram you arn't using? I just want to make sure that they're all plugged in right, it should tell me I have 4 GB!

A:Solved: Your total Ram

What OS? If you are running a 32-bit OS, 2^32 is 4 GB's, and since some RAM is used for other purposes, like BIOS shadowing, a 32-bit operating system cannot address 4 GB's of RAM the normal way. 32-bit Vista now has the ability to show that 4 GB's is installed, but still can't use it.

A new video card should not make any difference. Where are you looking to see the RAM amount?

My problem is this:
My daughter downloaded a file from YouTube and played it. The computer was fine. She turned the computer off.
Next day I turn it on and all I get is the screen where the options when the computer didnt shut down correctly are listed.
OK I think I will reinstall Windows XP and everything will be fine. No. I load the CD and the screen tells me the files are being loaded. Install the SATA driver and it continues on.
After a while the computer re-boots and I am back to the list of options page.
I can not install XP, it just refuses to get beyond a certain point.
Does anyone have any suggestions I can use for getting past this?
I thought maybe it was something to do with a file in the XP setup so I tried installing Linux Ubuntu but exactly the same.
I am confused, so help would be greatly appreciated

A:[SOLVED] Total Crash

It sounds like you installed Windows on different folder of the C: drive And Windows is loading to the old version with the problem. You could have maybe fixed this problem, but it may be too late now. If you want to re-install Windows, Boot off of the XP CD, and choose to Delete the Partition, Create a new partition, Format the Partition NTFS and then Install Windows.
