I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625e Refuses to (re) Install

My printer is an HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625e (4620 series). Firmware Version: CAP1FN1451AR
First, this is what I can do with the printer.
1. Print internal ‘Test’ pages and reports.
2. Print documents in all applications from a wireless, networked laptop.
3. Print documents using ePrint.
My computer is an HP Omni All-in-one Running Windows 7 Home Premium X64
The issue is I am unable to (re)install the printer on the HP Omni using either ‘Add Printer’, HP downloads or the installation disk.
Hoping for a definitive solution.
Background: Just over a week ago I upgraded from Office Pro 2010 to Office Pro 2013. When I went to print I noticed the dfautl print was showing as One Note 2013. I selected the HP printer then hit print. I got an error message: Word Cannot Print this Document. There is no printer installed.
I tried to print using NotePad and an Adobe document (thinking it may have been Word related only). This did not work. I could print from any application using the Desktop. But, as noted, I can do so from the networked laptop.
On opening the Printers folder OneNote was set as the default. I changed the default to the HP printer. No luck. I was told it was not installed.
I ran Malwarebytes Premium and Microsoft Security Essentials to check for possible incursions. None.
I then tried System Restore. No change.
I then tried to repair the print program. No change.
I then uninstalled Office 2013.... Read more

since there isnt any settings for fans in BIOS then i was wondering if theres any ways to change fans settings. Speedfan shows Fan1-3 on 0 rpm.

any useful programs or tips on how to configure fans without cracking it open (not my computer) will be much preshieated..

soz for not-so-good english but since i only use it on web and not as everyday language, then it will never be perfect or even near-perfect

A:Amilo Pa 3515 fans

Unless the fans are connected directly to a fan header on the motherboard and not connected to a molex connector from the power supply, there isn't anything Speedfan or any other software can do.

If they are connected to a molex connector, then there are basically 2 options,

1. replace it/them with fans that do connect to motherboard fan headers

2. use a fan controller something like this,

I have a Dell XPS 410 that randomly powers off and then won't power back on unless I jiggle it a bit.

I found this: http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/818967-dell-xps-410-shutdown-startup.html

Which indicates it can be the front I/O panel causing it.

How can I confirm this is the problem, and where can I get a spare?

When it isn't powering on, the mobo isn't receiving power either.

First of all, hello techsupportforum.com . I am happy to be here and I hope you guys can help me.
Ever since a few weeks ago, my computer does not power up on demand. What that means is after I press the power button, it would start the cpu and psu fans(not the gpu) , which would stop after a few seconds. After turning the power supply off (by removing the power cable) and turning it on again, I can try to power up my pc again. After a few attempts, it eventually starts. BUT I'm not done yet. Monitor still displays no signal, I have to press the restart button until it finally works. Please note everything works normally (except for the random shut down) until I power it off again.

This is not everything, at random times the PC would just shut down itself and I would have to power off the psu and start it again.

I have replaced my PSU with no change in this behaviour.

My spec:

I am investigating the possibility of relocating the router to the room with all of the equipment so that I can hardwire the TV, Sat., and Audio Receiver... but it is most likely going to be cost prohibitive. Just curious if there would be any advantage to hard wiring any of these into a secondary wireless router that is connected to the first one wirelessly. Would this just be a collosal waist of time?

Yesterday, I was contacted by phone by a ?Microsoft? certified network engineer working with Microsoft for Avangate Services, LLC (I HAVE NAMES, PHONE NUMBERS, AND ADDERESSES) stating they had evidence that Chinese hackers were in the process of attacking my laptop to obtain access to my banking data. They showed that over half of Microsoft ?services? >MSCONFIG>Services> were stopped and then that the hackers already had my bank ID and password. When I tried to access my account the hackers were busy removing funds from checking ($1600) and savings ($600). I was bounced out of my online account and could not get back in at the time.

According to these people my only solution was to install ?NSA Sonic Wall? with accompanying software on my network (cost $1499.00, check only) and for them to fix the damage to my PC. Any advice? I have not mailed the check!

Microsoft has a beautiful thing in Aero, but it isn't using it to the magnitude that it could be. One suggestion, cut out the white backgrounds on windows such as the control panel and windows explorer, and replace them with a glass background. If more than one window is open, make the active windows glass more opaque. That way items on the top window wouldn't be confused with items in the window behind it. That would be gorgeous! The Same idea could be applied to the start menu. The right side of the start menu is that beautiful glass, but the left has that bland white background. Make it all glass!

What do you guys think?

Post your critiques and other ideas concerning the expansion of Aero Glass throughout the OS.

A:Take Advantage of Aero

Hmm, having the background of Word 2007 transparent would be very cool. However, having too much glass in the interface could make things a mess. Trying to read the blue text in control panel over a blue background might be trouble.

What exactly does it mean when a motherboard says its SLI, and what are the advantages of using an SLI board, as compared to a non-SLI one?

A:Whats the advantage of SLI?

SLI means you can connect TWO sli approved nvidia graphics cards together for a performance boost. It is really only necessary if you are a hard core gamer. For the average user, one graphics card is more than enough power.

Some would argue that an SLI motherboard also opens up your future upgrade options, as instead of buying a new graphics card when the current one feels dated, you can purchase a second identical card for an upgrade. I however don't agree with this line of thinking. Unless you are a hardcore gamer who is addicted to super-high framerates, a non SLI board will due just fine.

Going to have to get a new Monitor soon, and was considering a LCD 15" (17" & up are generally out of my $$$ range), but hear they suffer from slow refresh rates where characters in high framerate games will "ghost", that is, leave a trail from point A to B on a screen, and that if the transistors(?) of the LCD burn out or fail black dots are left onscreen.
Been looking at Flatscreen 15" Monitors and have heard varying opinions of their picture quality & refresh rates vs that of the standard CRT-type monitor.

Would be used for use with Word & websurfing mostly, but intend to get into games and so I'm wondering which would be best for both purposes.
Another thing -- how tiring on the eyes are LCD's compared to FlatScreen's? Ones I've seen in stores & in use at homes seem to have a extremely bright screen which looks as if it'd be a bit ough on the user after a while.

===
W98SE (Ver 4.10.2222A; No Upgrades); DirectX 6.1a; Internet Explorer 5.50

A:LCD vs FlatScreen? What's the advantage of one over the other.

You can probably just reduce the brightness/contrast of the screen if it's too much. What you've heard about the ghosting effect of LCD screens in games is true, although the technology has improved a lot over the last couple of years, and screens with quicker response rates are coming out all the time. As for the transistors burning out, that should be covered under the warranty (get one with a 3 year warranty if you're worried about it).

I have a 360 but I am keeping my xbox but I want to have a better image quality, is there any good advantage to a S-Video cable for my xbox over composite, maybe a side by side image, thanks.

A:What is the advantage to S-Video

Without pictures to push my point, just keep in mind that composite is the worst of all connection standards. S-Video, Component (YUV) & HMDI (if available) are far better with only Component & HDMI allowing you to use Progressive Scan/High Definition.

The image is much sharper & colors are much more vivid when you use something other than composite.

I made a partition and loaded x86 (32 bit) and a x64 (64 bit). While I do understand that most software is not yet optimized for x64, I do not see any performance difference at all between the two.

Is there some "secret switch" I'm missing, or what is all this x64 hype about? What am I not seeing here?

A:I don't see the advantage of running x64

There should be little/no difference in application performance between 32 and 64 bit in 32 bit apps. Native 64 bit apps should run faster than their 32 bit bretheren. (...and I say "should" because of the vaguaries and skill involved in writing efficient code, and what the application happens to do. )

The primary advantage from and end user's point of view lies in the amount of resource 64 bit is able to utilize. i.e. if you want SLI/Crossfire and/or 4GB of memory or more, then you're basically forced to use a 64 bit version of the operating system.

Nope just means it reads and writes to more media.... shouldn't invite any trouble except for 1 thing. If you use your own burnt media for home movies and whatnot check the DVD maker of your burnt media and ensure the new DVD-RW/+RW reads the same brand well. Hi all,

I am far from a networking expert but I am wondering what would be the reason that my ISP is providing me 2 IP addresses, (Shaw Cable). Currently I am running only 1 PC and have just recieved a router/adapter for VoIP. I do plan on a second and third PC that I will put online as well as my Sony PS2. From what I understand, my router should handle all this from the one IP address. Is this correct? Is there a benefit to utilizing the second IP address? By having 2 IP's does this allow independant bandwidth? What I mean is, can I use one IP for my PC's and the other for my VoIP so that they do not steal bandwidth from each other?

I have an Apple Time Capsule and a Dlink DIR-655. Is there anyway I can configure them to work together? The Time Capsule creates my main network. Can the Dlink router extend the range/signal strength? or do anything with the time capsule?

Cheers

A:Two Router Advantage?

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!

This procedure bypasses the routing function (NAT layer) and configures the router as a switch (or wireless access point for wireless routers).

For reference, here's a link to a Typical example config using a Netgear router

came across this statement:
"The most limiting factor here will be the Athlon's 133MHz DDR FSB which will only allow a maximum of 2.1GB/s of data to travel to/from the CPU. So in spite of the fact that the chipset will be able to get, in theory, up to 2.7GB/s of data from main memory it will only be able to hand 2.1GB/s off to the CPU.

AMD hasn't announced plans to move to a higher speed FSB anytime soon and while the added memory bandwidth would be useful on a point-to-point multiprocessor platform (each CPU gets its own 2.1GB/s bus to the chipset) VIA has already stated that they won't enter this market for the Athlon. "
from http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1586&p=2

If I read this correctly then the via chip sets will not utilize the potential and cost of 333 memory. Is this right or are there other advantages to 333?

A:any advantage to 333 memory?

From the same article,

"The bottom line is that today, DDR333 doesn't result in any tangible performance improvements but if paired with a 166MHz DDR FSB the boost could be quite tangible"

My family recently bought shaws new "Internet 150" which is supposed to support speeds of up to 150Mbps.  But what I'm experiencing is still "internet 20" at 20Mbps.  I think this is my fault because I don't have the high end ethernet cables I should to support it, but I thought I'd drop in here and see if you guys agree with my assessment.  I have cat 5e cable right now.

Because Shaw did tell me that they upgraded the buildings in my area to be capable of internet 150.  I'm on hold right now to talk to their representatives as well.

EDIT

NVM...

Now I put the modem where it belongs and the WIRED internet goes up to 90Mbps.  That's over multiple splits from routers and such.  I swear, I'll never understand what you people see in wireless technology....

Hi - I do have a legal WinXP O/S on this new e-machine. But it has been so unreliable and complicated b/c of OEM software and probably some user error, I've had to reload it 6 times in 1 year.

I have Windows 2000 on my Win98 machine that is a decent machine but small monitor. I want to be able to use Win 2000 on the XP machine as XP is the last chance to get updates for Win 2000 as I understand.

I have a 2-gig flash drive U-3 which I think means it will work under 98. I do not have the disks for Ofc 2000, it came with the machine. I would like to copydown Ofc2000 to the flash drive so I can use it when needed on the XP machine.

After reading about Win Genuine Advantage, I don't think it will let me copy Office products without the disks. I do have a license number for 2000 which might be a multiple user; although my name is on it.

Will Genuine Advantage keep me from getting updates until I install it? Will it keep me from installing (copying over) Office 2000? (Microsoft doc only speaks to Ofc 2002 and later).

I also have a router and verizon services but I can't make up my mind between yahoo and microsoft. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Any ideas? Thank you.

A:Win Genuine Advantage Notification

You can not simply copy Office from one machine to the other - it won't work. You have to install it using the installation disks. The reason for this is that during the installation process entries are added to the registry that allow the program to function correctly. If you simply copy the files across to another machine none of the registry entries will be there.

A:Removal Advantage Validation from XP

"Windows Genuine Advantage Validation v1.9.9.1" is the name of a legitimate Windows component so this may be a false positive.AVG should list the file it thinks is infected in the Infections tab of the scan results. From there you can locate the file on your hard drive and upload it to VirusTotal.com to have the file scanned by 40 different anti-virus tools and view the results. Alternatively you may upload it here and I can take a look at it to make sure it's the real Windows file. You may also want to scan your computer with a different tool to get a second opinion (since no anti-virus program is perfect.) Trend Micro offers a quick scanner which is available here: Trend Micro Housecall (you want the 32-bit version.) Another good, but harder to use, scanner is Microsoft's Offline System Sweeper. It creates a CD or USB drive (blank CDs/USB drives provided by you) from which your computer can boot. It then scans your computer and offers to fix any malicious software it finds. This method is particularly effective against really nasty malware, but is also good for checkups. (As with Housecall, you'd want to get the 32-bit version.)

One of my friends bought a new windows CD.
It seems it is not the original one(There aren't too much original windows Cd where we are living because of the lack of copyright law.)
when he updated his windows ,it was known as a copy, and he's tired of all the messages by
Windows Geniue Advantage.
Is there a way to get rid of them?

The fact that your friends windows is not a legitimate version means you will not be able to recieve help here. In case you need a refresher, the rules can be found here. I encourage you to take some time to become familiar with the rules. I have a five-year old DELL PC and a NIKON CoolScan V ED film/slide scanner. I've been scanning slides for several months and editing them with ADOBE Photoshop Elements, and the results have been satisfactory.

Now I have my aunt's huge slide collection to go through, a project which I figure could take a year or two to complete. At present I'm considering replacing my PC with a MAC. I'm wondering if a MAC would make my slide-scanning in any way easier, faster, or better. Since I've had only PC's for 12 years and I've never used a MAC before, I'm sure there'd also be a learning curve to contend with. I'm leaning toward getting another PC -- unless I can be convinced that, in the long run, it would be worth getting a MAC, especially if doing would would facilitate my slide-scanning project. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who can offer good advice. Thank you.

A:Any advantage for Mac or PC when scanning slides?

This will have a lot more to do with the scanning hardware/software than the computer used. You're right about the learning curve, which wouldn't be very steep in any case. My guess is you'd be using the same hardware in either case.

Use this link to validate your copy of Windows: http://www.microsoft.com/protect/promotion...vantage_us.mspxIf it shows up as invalid there should be info there on how to contact Microsoft to validate it (as long as it is a genuine, legal copy of Windows).

When I tried to use Windows Media Player,I got a notice from Micro$oft that read as follows; "You must validate your copy of Windows to get Windows Media Player 11. You must verify that Microsoft Windows is genuine. After validation, you will have access to all the latest features, updates and support." Of course I have a valid copy of Windows, I'm just not liking the idea of M$ collecting a whole bunch of data from my computer when I download Their software. Do we have any other choice in this matter???

A:Windows Genuine Advantage

If you're interested, this article discusses what information Microsoft collect. Also see this article for some information. You can bypass the WGA check. I personally do not believe there is anything illegal in bypassing the check provided your XP is genuine.

what is cpu/memory requirement of windows 8

and whats its main advantages over windows 7

i have intel dual core 1.6Ghz cpu and 3GB RAM

A:windows 8 requirements and advantage over win 7

If the remainder of your hardware is up to spec, you should be able to run Windows 8 64Bit. 32Bit without problems.
So far, the consumer release only really shows the touchpad desktop, ( full of "touch icons" ) as the main advantage. But I am cynical. With the various , reliable, tests beginning to come in, its performance is not outstanding over Windows 7. There are one or two extra facilities, many of which can be incorporated into windows 7 with third party add-ons. But I am sure that, before RTM, it will be easier to migrate to, from 7, and, hopefully, will have a much improved performance.

Is there any way, using a router, to benefit from having two ethernet cards as far as bandwidth goes? I have a gigabit ethernet connection on my motherboard, and a 10/100 ethernet in a pci slot? is there any way to set up the two in order to receive more bandwidth?

thanks.

A:dual ethernet: is there an advantage?

Nope. Your broadband connection is far slower than the 100mbit connection, so this will have absolutely no effect. Think of a hose with a Y connector, does it increase the water flow if you connect two hoses and turn them on? No, it just shares it between the two hoses, less for each.

About Windows Genuine Advantage. I have a legal retail version of win xp pro sp2, and I don't mind that the win version is checked when I go to microsoft to download updates, but I do not want them to check win every 2 weeks, how little RAM or internet traffic it may be. So how do I avoid microsoft checking every 2 weeks?

A:Windows Genuine Advantage

Personally when asked to install that component I just uncheck it and click "do not remind me of this update" or whatever it says. As of yet it has not made a difference.
