I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My problem/question is this - I have someone that refuses to use their work email address and it drives everyone in the company nuts. She insists on using her personal AOL account and I've got to the point where I manually change her AOL address to her work one in the event that I reply to an email she sends.

Is there a way to create a rule (I have Outlook 2007) so that her AOL address changes to her work address automatically anytime I reply to her or if she's among a group of recipients?

Hey everyone.

I've ran into a problem that I can't quite figure out. My internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC.

Some troubleshooting things I have tried.
-Power cycled my modem, router and PC.
-Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity)
-Used the reset option on the router and the modem
-I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct.
-Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP
When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server'

-Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working

All of these options did not work.

What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure.

I'd be glad to prov... Read more

That would be your ISPs' address, the router would probably be or so, in the properties, advanced button for the ipv4 of your adapter, make sure both settings are on auto, and add the correct router address in the gateway box.

I'm thinking about changing my IP address. I heard that you can change your IP address if you change your MAC address, and that you can change your MAC address using various software.

Firstly, is it even safe to change your MAC address?

My PC connects to the Web via a router. When I check my IP address on one of the many Web sites that provide such a service, it shows my router's IP address, which is static. When I disconnect the router, connect to the Web without it, and check my IP address again, it shows my PC's IP address, which is dynamic.

If I were to change my MAC address, will it change my PC's IP address or my router's IP address?

A:Does Changing Your MAC Address Change Your IP Address?

This is not going to do anything for you. If your ISP assigns you a STATIC ip address and you want it changed you need to contact your ISP.

Hi All,
I've a question about networking. I'm the unofficial tech guy at my wifes small rural school, and I come from the school of hard knocks, as computers are a hobby, not my livelihood. I'm taking care of 16 computers in 5 different rooms all networked to a T1 and Cisco 2600.

Occasionally, a computer will refuse to connect to the network. Sometimes the, "can't assign auto IP address" error comes up, sometimes not. When I bring the 'puters home, they hook right up to my cable modem\Linksys Router\24 Port hub setup and I'm on the intra and internet. At school they can't reconize or be seen on the network either. I went into the room with the Cisco router\and other foreign equipment, turned off the router and turned it back on (30 secs), with no results. Could it be the small hub (reset it also) that goes from the wall (in each room) to the 5 or so computers networked? Does anyone think that its at the county office? Is there a switch they can throw to clear whatever the problem is? Is it something else in the Cisco room that needs reset?

Thanks for listening to my frustrated rant.

I'm running Windows XP. In Windows 2000, when you type something in the run box or in the address bar in IE, the rest of what you type is automatically filled in based on previous entries. How do I enable this in XP? I receive a drop down list with previous entries, but I either have to completely finish typing what I want to run, or I have to use the arrow keys or mouse to select an entry. It's not automatically completed. I do not want forms or usernames or passwords on internet sites filled in.

Okay I have a D-Link DSL G604T Wireless ADSL Router (revision B3), I works fine it works both with the LAN and wireless parts, I am connected via a ethernet cable on the computer I am using currently and my mums iBook is connected via the wireless.

But it wont give my computer an IP address, It was working fine but recently it stopped working, I am not sure what I did to stop it from working.

I tried connecting via my wireless adapter D-Link DWL-G510 (revision C) and then I moved the modem/router into my room and used an ethernet cable and plugged it into my onboard ethernet port, it wouldn't assign me an IP for that connection either.

I don't have a MAC address filter running on the modem, there is no wireless security nothing on the modem side that blocks my computer.

I tried using static IP's for both a wireless connection and using the ethernet, it connects to the modem, and I can access the modem but not the internet. It appears that when using static IP's it isnt routing me to the world wide web.

So It must be something to do with my computer. I tried to do a system restore, but that doesn't work It goes through the process of restoring, then when it restarts it comes up with incomplete restore cannot complete process or something. I tried multiple restore dates to restore to and none worked.

I would just re-install windows and be done with it, but I dont have any means of backing up data that I dont want to loose

A:Modem won't assign me an IP address

The router does not assign you an IP. Your computer is supposed to ask for one. Since the iBook is working OK, your router is responding to DHCP requests properly and your coomputer is to blame.

When you set up the static IP configuration, did you fill in all the data correctly? IP, mask, gateway and DNS exactly as on the working client? (The last octet has to be different for the IP address of course.)

Have you removed any malware recently? It could be that the removal program overdid it. Maybe run WinSockFix..

From your PC, post the output of "ipconfig /all" command.

Hi all. I think this is an auto complete thing...

I have been logging into my email accounts via webmail for years via the same url. I have four different email accts, and when I load the page, I simply dbl-click in the email field, and I see all four addresses. If I click on one, the pwrd auto-fills, and I am good to go.

My host recently swapped me to another server, and I now have to access my webmail via a different url. I go to that url, and there are no email address there when I dbl-click in the email field. Ok, no biggie. I enter the first address and pwrd, and log in. Windows does not ask me if I want to save the username and pwrd. Weird. I log out, and log into the other three one by one, and with each, I am prompted to save the username and pwrd, which I do. I log out of the fourth one, and then attempt to log back into the first - which I can do, but Windows again does not prompt me to save the username and pwrd. I have rebooted twice, and each time I log in to that specific email, I just log in - no prompt. And that email is not in the email field when I arrive at the log in page.

Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?

Thanks in advance.

A:Can't get auto complete to remember an email address

That's a nice explanation, but, what the heck webmail and browsers are you using??

If you're using IE, see: Internet Explorer AutoComplete - Turn On or Off for settings.
Since your Host changed servers that first addy may have to be placed in a trusted zone.
There's the possibility with the transfer of servers, the new server still thinks that, that first addy is already saved.
It could be the new server doesn't recognize a security certificate for that addy.
If browser settings are okay, I'd check with your Host.

And please; It would be very helpful if you would fill out your System Specs, you can use the tool included in the Tutorial here: System Info - See Your System Specs just read through the tutorial, use one of the downloads, and it will automagically fill them in for you.

Your welcome.

Could someone please help me in figuring out what I need to do to have Windows Mail auto complete the address of the recipient. Sometimes it works and most of the time it does not. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Windows Mail (auto complete address)

Hello Therapist,

Welcome to the forums.

WM will auto complete the last 29 addresses you have sent emails to. If you have the addresses in your contacts folder, it should auto complete from there. It may however wait until you hit the send button to do so if you haven't installed SP1. You can use just a first or last name and if there is only one possibility it will send(go to outbox). If more than one possibility it will give a list to choose from. It will not look these up until you click (or tab to) somewhere besides the line you are entering the addresses in.

Hope this helps.

The Outlook feature that automatically suggests email addresses as I begin to type in an address in email is not including many addresses that are no longer current. For example, when I try to send a message to my wife, it offers a list of six addresses, four of which are obsolete. I cannot find the file that contains these addresses to edit it. The various manuals speak of .wab files, but a search produces none. The only .pst file I can find doesn't contain the address list. Anybody know how to solve this one, I hope? Im understanding that a modem is just a media converter. It's got no IP address of its own.
But then Wikipedia states (under "cable modem"): "With respect to the OSI model of network design, a cable modem is both Physical Layer (Layer 1) device and a Data Link Layer (Layer 2) forwarder. As an IP addressable network node, cable modems support functionality at other layers...] ...The Network Layer (Layer 3) is implemented as an IP host in that it has its own IP address used by the network operator to maintain the device."
If it's not the modem's ip address, are they referring to TR-69..?

A:Can't connect to Modem settings ip address

I've had a great network for years but then my DI-624 died and I replaced it with a D-Link WBR-2310. It conected to the PC just fine and using DHCP it assigns IP's to the compters. The problem is that the Comcast modem will not give the the WAN an IP or DNS. When I check status the LAN has Host, IP and Gateway. When I check status on the WAN these are blank. Thus, I can't get on the internet using the network. I used the same cables I had with the DI-624 if that makes any difference? So, the network works and the router gives IPs but the WAN has nothing coming in. Help?

Sorry the first post had the wrong Outlook version.

Up until last week the auto address fill worked in Outlook 2002. Since then I have checked the box for word as editor but when I click on "New" it says Word is Busy or is not available. I found a prior thread where someone had the same problem with 2003 the response was to add a .dll, I tried that and it did not work. Any ideas.
Also tried system restore to go back one week when the auto fill worked but the system restore does not work.

Hello Legends,
Iam using windows 10 pro on my Dell inspiron 15r 5537 model. From the last month i am getting the DNS problem. I make the DNS obtain automatically under ipv4 properties but after 2-3 minutes it become Specified DNS address with address and I have tried flushing DNS, Uninstalling WLAN drivers, Rolling back, Updating. Changed this address also in Registry but after 2-3 minutes again the same.It prevent me from accessing the internet or opening the new pages on browsers but some of the download will stay continued. I'am getting trouble from it. Please help me to Solve this issue. thanks in advanced

A:DNS address keep changing from Auto to (Preventing Internet Access

IP address traces to Keyweb.de. Dubious history, and I would not put it past one of their clients:
Page here will give you an idea of how to find the dns servers in the registry (has to be the registry, you take the stuff out, then it comes back). http://windowsitpro.com/networking/where-registry-are-entries-dns-servers-located
The question is, how is it happening? Malware is capable of changing registry items, happens all of the time. Have you scanned your computer yet? Malwarebytes is free to consumers.

Hey all........
I've not seen this problem anywhere, so I don't know if anyone has a solution.
OS is WinXPSP2 Home

When I go to write an e-mail........as I key in the beginning of an address, a list....sometimes a veeeeeerrrrryyyyy long list of "suggested" addresses drops down for me to choose from. The problem is that most of these addresses are no longer needed or wanted. I've edited my address book, but all of these unwanted addresses keeping dropping down to "help me out".

I spent the morning on AOL Live Help to no avail.......their suggestions: do a Quick Restore.
and go to "Tools, click on Settings, then click on Mail Settings, click on Advance and then
"uncheck the last option." Log off and reboot and VIOLA..........all of those unwanted e-mail addresses will have disappeared and will no longer appear in a "auto suggested format". Not true. I still have every e-mail address I'd like to edit and delete from my system, right there in whatever little cavity all these addresses reside in. Can anyone tell me how to remove all of these unwanted, auto suggested, e-mail addresses (written to and received from) from my e-mail "write........address box". A lot of these addresses are from businesses that I don't do business with!
Thanks much for your help!!!

Is there any way i can create an auto updated text file of my computer's ip address and have it in dropbox?
I'm trying to connect to my computer via a remote connection app on my android - "Xtralogic Remote Desktop" and setting a static IP doesn't work on my router for some reason, i tried and tested it. So i was wondering if i could keep a text file in my dropbox that i could access from my phone that has my ip address of my computer so i can enter it into the app whenever i want to use it via 3G.

Thanks in Advance

A:Is there a way I can create an auto updating text file with my IP Address in it?

Is your computer connected directly to a broadband modem and not through a router? If not, then the IP address of your computer isn't what you need. You need to know your modem's internet facing IP address.

I definitely do not recommend connecting your computer directly to a modem and then allowing remote internet connections. At least go through a router. Or better yet use a service like LogMeIn designed for remote access and with an Android app.

Hi y'all. Yesterday while my laptop was in sleep mode with the lid closed it sent out a email with this link or or similar (hxxp://www.isj1.health24x.com) the set of letters and numbers after the www. is different in some of them. They were sent out at 4:00am, 4:30am, and 6:00am in batches of ten at a time. This is the first time I've ever had one of these and I haven't even been on my computer but just a couple times in the last 2 months since I've been down sick. I haven't even run my mail in 3 or 4 weeks or longer.
The night before it sent out the emails with the links I had booted it up to check something and then just let it go into sleep mode and shut the lid on it. Since I've found that it sent out all those emails on it own I have ran a full scan with the Norton internet security 2010 and it didn't find anything. So I downloaded the newest AVG and installed it and run the up date. Then ran a full system scan with it. Same thing, it found nouthing.
What should I do now?

A:auto emailer sending link to everybody in address book

I have been receiving emails with the same pattern. They are from a contact that I know, there is no subject and there is a link to what seems to be a drug or prescription link. I have been receiving them for a couple of weeks now, but only from one person. I notified her, but nothing came of it. Her husband is pretty techie and couldn't find anything. A few days ago, I got the same type email from another one of my contacts. Today from 2 of them. I have been trying to research it on and off for a bot. I have come up with the health24x virus. I know how to do combofix, but I don't know if I am infected or they are.

I will run a hijack this and post my findings.

Hello all,

Question, I have been researching the problem Outlook 2010 has had with NOT remembering email addresses for the Auto complete after the program is shut down and restarted.

I have solved about every problem just by reading other people's questions (as the rules state).......it has worked every time until now. access violation at address 4003b648 in module rt170.bpl. write of address 0000000d I have not found this, I hope I didn't overlook it...I'm learning a great deal from this forum and I don't want to waste everybody's time...I'm still a newbie and the more I learn, the more I realize that I don't know sh**. Anyway, thanks for your help...this is a great place to learn.

Just my guess...Access violation...usually means a RAM/memory error.Address 4003b648 appears to be a memory address.Module rt170.bpl...seems to be part of IE.What's the related error data as reflected in Event Viewer?Take a look: http://www.justanswer.com/questions/uekb-c...running-windowsOne answer by Rick Rogers (helpful MS-MVP) indicated that either updating the SP to the most current or reinstalling IE would be the answer.Louis

I would like to hide the address bar but still be able to use the forward and back buttons and some other features.  I have add the rege key to remove nav bar but that removes everything.  Im using this in a citrix xendesktop environment.
I will deploy a site but don't want the users to navigate to other sites.  For instance go to our intranet site but stop them from going to our firewall gui page. So when they click on links I wont them to be able to go back to the previous page.
Any ideas?

It's designed by default, and we cannot only hide address bar. Thanks for your understanding.

I have been unable to insert an address from my Yahoo email address book for some time now and I have decided to ask for help.

All I am doing is opening Yahoo mail and trying to compose a new email to send to someone who is already in my contacts. When I click "to:" or "insert address" my address book shows up. But when I place a check mark and try to "insert checked contacts" I go to this address on a blank page: http://us.mc1612.mail.yahoo.com/mc/kioskHandler

I see that this has been asked before but no one had replied and I can't find the answer doing a search.

Can anyone help?

I have Vista Home Premium 32 using Firefox. The version is the latest version of Firefox but this has happened in many previous versions of Firefox. (I was lazy [or in a hurry] and just typed in the address of the entity to which I was communicating as a work around.)

A:Solved: Yahoo email unable to insert address from address book

Concerning my post above: I turned on my older XP computer and I had no problem with inserting an address from the Yahoo! address book.

I compared all my settings in both computers and noticed that I had different settings relating to how pop-ups are handled. XP reminded me that the address book takes the form of a pop-up. On my Vista I had pop-ups opening up (?) in a webpage. That is the page which came up blank. After I have corrected the settings, I no longer have a problem.
