Installation-cum-technical error

Q: Installation-cum-technical error

Dear Guyz,
this is my story, I have an Acer Aspire Z1620 AIO Desktop. It was working well on win8. However, yesterday while my desktop was on, electricity went out. I'm in India so it was all usual and generator started. So my DESKTOP ALSO STARTED at the same time. But what happened that after windows logo the screen got blurred and it restarted over again and again. I thought it would be simple so I thought to upgrade it to win8.1 . So I made a bootable pen drive and when I tried to install it. It says win8.1 can't be installed on MBR disk. It can be done only on GPT Disk. So, I tried to gather info. About MBR AND GPT but then in vain I found out that first I need to clean hard disk. So I formatted C: drive During installation. But the problem remains. It was asking to convert it into GPT ( Somehow with searching I found how to convert MBR into GPT using Diskpart). While I was using Diskpart it shows my C: Harddisk and D: Harddisk as one whole partition(900GB IN ONE WHOLE UNIT). Now I can't erase my D: Harddisk. I have got very very very important files. It is the source. Moreover, I found that throught GPTGEN it's possible. However, My command prompt is saying that the path cannot be specified (how could it when I already formatted my C: drive). By imparting more on net I found that by disabling UEFI mode into Legacy mode the computer will automatically take MBR drive. But when I opened BIOS Setup I can't find my UEFI Secure boot option. Also when I tried installing Ubuntu through bootable pen drive but It is not taking my pen drive then. Please help me guys.
.
IN SHORT,
my previous windows 8 is formatted by me.(C: Drive is formatted during installation of win8.1).
through Diskpart it's showing my both partitioned disk as one.
unable to convert MBR to GPT as it requires cleaning up of disk which I can't.
unable to use GPTGEN as it is saying the path can't be specified.
Unable to disable UEFI mode as I can't see the boot secure option or any such options in my BIOS SETUP.
My desktop isn't taking Ubuntu software 12.0something something.

What I want is that please somehow tell me either how to install win8.1 without any mentioned difficulties or tell me how to convert MBR to GPT without losing data. GPTGEN isn't working.

please help me guys. ASAP.

Preferred Solution: Installation-cum-technical error

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Well, I downloaded HJT on another computer, burned it, and uploaded it to a NEW folder on my desktop on my problem computer and, quite frankly, it goofed. HJT encounters an error when it is scanning NT services and has to exit. Man, I'm really beginning to hate this computer....

A:Technical Error In HJT

Some computers have this problem, try using an older version:

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis1982.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Hi Guys I have just installed a second hard drive to my system, and upon reboot a black screen appears advising “ no boot device detected” In the BIOS the boot order has changed to (1) Floppy. (2) Lan, (3) Lan, (4) Lan. In the CMOS splash screen upon start-up no drives are recognised, displaying NONE for all. My system is a Dell Dimension 2350 P.4 running XP sp3. 1GB RAM. In this installation setup I have an 80GB HDD set to Master jumper setting and a 20GB HDD ( 2nd HDD) set to Slave.
Prior to the installation of the 2nd HDD the 80GB booted OK, and the BIOS settings were (1) Floppy (2) Hard Disc (3) CD ROM (4) Lan.
One thing I should mention this system has just come back from a computer shop where I had XP sp3 installed due to a mishap on the original Hdd which destroyed the Operating system. The XP sp3 system which came back from the shop had Acronis True Image installed on it? I was going to clone the new system to my 20 GB using my own Acronis software, as a backup, because I would not have a disc to recover to if anything went wrong in the future. Anyone got any ideas on this puzzle, or diagnostic ability. All help welcomed.

A:Solved: Technical Problem 2nd hard drive installation problem

Sounds like either the drivers are jumpered or cabled wrong or that booting from a HDD has been disbaled in the BIOS. If you disconnect the second drive does the system boot?

Whenever I log in to my windows XP, a minute after logging in a blue screen appears, saying, "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer". After this, it suggests several things to try and then it displays this technical error:

*** STOP: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x805787f8, 0xba11b99c, 0x00000000)

Below this it states it's "dumping physical memory to disk".
After a period of time it just shuts down and restarts. I've tried uninstalling my inernet security as I believe it involves the RAM in the computer (we have 1.5 GB) but that only worked for the day. What is going on with my computer?

A:Confusing technical error

You could check the Minidump file in your Windows folder to see if that points to the cause of the problem. If you are unsure about what to look for, you could upload it here.

Hi, I'm wondering what is wrong with my computer.

When I play a game ( World of Warcraft ) or few others, I get a message or something thats on my monitor that says
"Out of Range" Set monitor resolution lower or read the manual guide.

When I'm in the game it works fine, but then it all freezes and I got that message and it kept happening a few other times
maybe after 30 mins of playing or so.

I'm wondering why I get this message and the specs are below if needed.

Specs:

Computer - Compaq Presario 5108 US or 5000 series

Motherboard - Via

Processor - AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz

Memory - 384 RAM

Graphics Card - Radeon X1300/X1550 series
If you need anything else listed please tell me.

Thanks.

You max out the video display of both your video card or the monitor. You would have to use a lower setting. Don't max the settings otherwise you'll get this error..

There's nothing attached.

Where did you get Win7? How is it burned to disk?

Are you booting the installer to Clean Install Windows 7?

During installation process at Steps 7 and 8, use the Drive Options to delete all partitions and create new as you wish, format and click Next to install to first partition. Ignore the small boot partition it creates.

Hi, I assume you want to get rid of Vista and start over? If so, you should be able to boot from your Windows XP CD, remove all partitions on the hard disk, reformat and install Windows XP.

If this doesn't work, you may want to download the low level format utility from your hard disk manufacturer's website to give you a clean disk, then try the above again.

Hi,

Just to confirm for us, install the Visual C++ redist 2005, then VC++ redist 2005 SP1, then VC++ redist 2008, then VC++ redist 2008 SP1. Only restart PC after last one has finished and do them in order, one at a time. This will take quite a long time, let them finish. Then run windows update and select everything, in particular the updates for the VC++ redists (mainly security updates) and restart PC again. Tell us if anything here fails and any error messages you get. Are any of your applications getting side by side configuration errors? Then try your program install again. Hopefully it will now work. Tell us what happens. Will try and post links later as this post sent off iPhone.

Hope this helps, though you may have already done this.

Richard

P.S. You could try sfc /scannow though I really doubt it will help.

Hello and welcome to the Vista Forums!

It is not .net Framework that you need, but the Visual C++ Runtimes, in particular the 2005 ones.

? Download and install the following VC++ Redistributables in the following order: 2005; 2005 SP1; 2008; 2008 SP1, 2010

Web addresses:
1. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)
2. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
3. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
4. Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
Download details: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

Retry. That should solve the issue. If it does not, I shall teach you sxstrace.exe!

I had tried from the early win10 early betas to upgrade from win 8.1 pro 64 bit. I continually got
the error: "The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation" and the code "Error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D". I had tried the fixes recommending by microsoft, including disabling/unistalling antivirus(Bitdefender), removing unneeded peripherals, scanning system files, to no avail. After months of trying various builds, including the final, no luck. I had tried upgrading via iso and windows update. Every time the installation hung at the same spot 86 percent. However, I was finally able to get build 1511 11082 to install. Now, however, my concern is the expiration date in July 2016. I have tried unsuccesfuly via windows update and iso files to upgrade to newer release preview versions, however the error message returns(installation hangs at 86 percent) and the system rolls back to my current version of win 10. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Homebuilt PC, fx6850 cpu, asus m5a99fx board. I am able to clean install with no problems.

Okay, here's the whole situation, I hope you can understand.

A few weeks ago, I had gotten an error, or blue screen of death with a stop error saying unmountable boot volume. Went to get that fixed from a rent to own place where I am renting to own a new computer. Turns out okay with a reinstallation, however, I think the techie forgot to put back in the programs of the drivers and such. After that, I had the error again. I did it myself this time after given a boot disk. Worked out fine again.

Now here's where it gets interesting. I talked with an HP technician on how to get my video card back on, and followed instructions of downloading all the links on their support site and install them all in the sub catergory "Other Drivers". I did that and I get the error. I couldn't exactly remember the codec for it or whatever it is, the last two was 7B. So for now, I'm having it be repaired through the boot disk. So what should I do? Is what I'm doing right now, which is repairing through the boot disk, going to correct the problem, even after installing the drivers?

Edit: The error I get is Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF79A3528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Yes try repairing your system using your boot disk, try first the chkdsk then if that doesnt work try the re-installation option this will not format your system just repair and re-install you system.

Oh don't get me wrong I know how to fix that error but the problem is, is that whenever Iget to the formatting process of windows 7 installation it literally freezes and tiles itself with blue lines or something. NO THR RAM AND HDD IS NOT CORRUPTED/BROKEN I have ran multiple tests. The error from formatting is x80070057 and I have tried EVERY SINGLE DISKPART AND BOOTSEC COMMANDS ON THE INTERNET. I have also tried startup repair etc. I booted gparted and it said "Your PNP bios is causing a fatal error" I can't even install a Linux Debian without the formatting process freezing. I also tried booting from CD but it doesn't boot from CD. THE BIOS HAS NO OPTION TO CHANGE AHCII or something like that. I conclude that the bios needs to be updated but I cant do it without a windows Os. There have been over 7 versions of the HP dv 66466us and the change log even states it fixes these problems. The bios comes in a self extracting exe. There is no .bin file. I don't know of its possible to flash the bios with usb without a .bin or something If you have any suggestions please do post. My final plan is to find a hard drive with windows on it, replace the bios. If you guys have any info I coul d use please post

Hi Everyone, I'll begin by giving a brief background on whats going on. I have a Dell Inspiron 660s - Its a few years old. My hard drive was failing so I had to replace it. I replaced the hard drive and re-installed the original OS media (Windows 8). After I was finally up and running I downloaded some drivers from dell and did some windows updates. The goal was to try and get my PC back to or at least close to what I had before the hard drive failed. I had windows 10 before the hard drive failure. In order to get windows 10 back I had to download Windows 8.1. Everything seemed to go smoothly until I had to restart and allow the download to finish. I get upto 82% and it stops there for a long time and then eventually goes to a blue screen error stating the problem is a Bad_Pool_Caller. After the bluescreen dissappears it restores back to Windows 8. Another message appears when I get to the desktop stating Windows 8.1 installation unsuccessful error code 0xC1900101 - 0X30018. I would appreciate your help as I am stumped by what the issue is. Thanks.

A:indows 8.1 installation error - Blue Screen Error

I would recommend using the windows media creation tool to create a bootable windows 10 installation disk and upgrade with that. There are so many issues with upgrading to 10, iv had a few machines coming with failed upgrades but most of the time if I use a DVD it will work without fault.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Some things to take into consideration before upgrading

1) Ensure you have all Windows updates installed for your current OS
2) Disconnect any devices such as USB hard drives etc

Try this approach if it doesn't help please come back with results and we'll try to help

Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736b" . So i do some research and learn that i need a newer version of microsoft visual c++ 2005. I try install that and i get this 'Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly.
Microsoft.VC80.ATL.type="win32".version="8.050727.4053"."publicKeyToken"="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="X86"

Ive also noticed some other strange things such as my windows module installer says started and i cant stop it so i think theres something wrong with that and everytime i put in sfc/scannnow it says windows resource protection could not preform the following operation. My windows updates also dont work i get code 80073712.

Please help me I have some skills on the computer but they are somewhat limited but im sure i can follow the instructions.

While updating HP Active Support Library in windows vista home premium it downloads and checks for space allocation and then gives me Error 1316.A network error while attempting to read from file c:\windows\installer\HP active support library.msi Then after the rolling back action I receive Error-1603-Fatal-error during installation consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or msdn for more information. For some reason, when I try to open the Firefox browser I cannot access it due to the error code as seen in screenshot. The only reason I can think of is that whilst downloading AVG free for Vista, there was an error in installation. I have uninstalled whatever bits of AVG that I could find. I have also uninstalled any new downloads but that does not seem to be the issue. Re-booting does not fix it. The OS is running pretty slowly.Re-booting takes ages. I don't know if this is of any relevance, but in Task Manager, I have noticed that there are 88 processes running, CPU Usage is low 4% - 7% , and the Physical Memory is at 48% Is this memory high or average. Is any of this relevant.???Is there a program that I could run to look at the diagnostics or whatever that might shed some light??Could really do with some help. Thanks all

Hello akkittiekat, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It sounds like you are thinking of "System Restore". It can be accessed with a Vista Install DVD, a repair CD, or the reserved system partition at boot up. It is possible to restore to a point before you created the Admin password, or to a password you remember.

Here are some tutorials to show you how to use "System Restore" in different ways:

System Recovery Options

System Restore - How to

Administrator Account

Reset User Account Password

Create a Recovery Disc
You referred to the Admin password, is this the Admin account created during installation, or the "Hidden Default Administrator" account? This tutorial shows how to enable the Default Hidden Administrator account when there is no other account with Admin privileges available. Once you have enabled this account, you can use it to change the password to your Admin account.

User Account Password - Change from Win RE

A:IE 10 and 11 error install failure ERROR: "Neutral package installation failed"

Hello!
Sorry for refresh this old question, but...
Finally i've got solution in my situation! =)
I have Windows 2008 Server R2 SP1.
When i tried to install IE10, i've got this error in CBS.log:
Failed to find file: amd64_microsoft-windows-scripting-vbscript_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.21238_none_a51187a7608a895d\vbscript.dll
Steps to correct this error:
1. Download this: "Security Update for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Edition (KB2706045)"
2. Don't try to install, it wouldn't =)
3. Extract all files:
AMD64-all-windows6.1-kb2706045-x64_ffc82084794531c27bd4a670408d2c4a4d038ad8.msu /extract:.
4. Run this:
dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:Windows6.1-KB2706045-x64.cab
5. Now you can try to install IE10.

P.S. I think with IE11 problem will be solve in this way too . =)

This file was sent as an attachment from our distrubutor of the police radios we are programing.

Can I correct something on my computer to correct this.

Can you do a screen capture of the error message and maybe we can figure this out. To do the screen capture, press the ALT key and the Print Screen key (usually top row of keys near the right side of the keyboard) at the same time. This will save it on the clipboard. You then need to open MS Paint and then press the CTRL key and the V key at the same time to paste from the clipboard. Save the file as a bitmap and then reply back here. When you reply, below the reply box is a Attach File section. Use the browse button there to search for the bitmap you created.

If you need to ask that, then you shouldn't really be a customer facing support bod.
Use your gut feelings, based on what the customer says is wrong. You need to tailor each question on each individual customer.

1. When Small Business Server 2000 is deployed, it automatically sets workstations to use the server as an internet proxy because you would be expected to use the Proxy Server built into SBS 2000. However, in most installations a NAT router is used instead. Unfortunately, SBS2000 will still occasionally set the workstations to use the server as a proxy, preventing access to the internet.

Although this can be manually corrected on each workstation by removing the proxy settings in Internet Explorer, what is the best way to fix this issue permanently?

Hello all! Have a laptop running xp, its a old one, Latitude Cpx Pentium 3. THe problem is my screen is black, i can see slightly when the sun hits it on an angle. I tryed everything, i even tryed my monitor but theres another problem with the laptop. When i turn it on it boots on into the Safe mood stuff right, when you shut it down wrong it goes their. I used Original Windows, curent confirgurationh, and safe mode. But all those dont work, plz help im haveing trouble.

A:Hello, have technical problems, plz help.

dude, you have a hardware problem. your lcd backlights are not working, which is why the screen is black, but does have an image when the sun hits it. to fix that you'll need new ccl backlight blubs and the ballest to run them, not something most people can do, and costs alot.
as far as the rest of your problem, your grammer is so bad i don't understand what your are trying to say. it boots okay to safemode after improperly shutdown, but won't boot if you try to select what mode to boot into?
please clearify so that we can get you more info. go ahead and take the time to write a novel if you need to, the more info we have from you, the more likly we'll get you the correct help.

jab14 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! The HP warranty provides for HP Technical Support without charge for the duration of the one-year warranty. If your PC is older than that, the warranty has expired and HP is then not obligated to provide free technical support. Also, the PC is only warranteed for support for the original OS that comes preinstalled, if you change that, you are on your own. So, is your PC less than a year old and does it still use the original OS that came preinstalled? We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

Hello,

Recently I decided to change my original 256MB RAM to a 512MB RAM, unfortunatly this ending not very successful, so I changed back downto 256MB RAM, unfortunatly after putting back in the original 256MB RAM I got a series of beeps coming from my PC meaning there was an obvious problem with the Memory. Completly forgetting I had handled the RAM incorrectly and resulting in damaging the memory.
After discussing this with a friend of mine he recommended I brought new RAM which I did. I got the correct memory for my PC etc... Arriving today I installed the new 512MB RAM on my PC at home, sadly enough this didnt solve the problem. I am keeping the new memory but it can either be the Graphics Card or the Motherboard, is this true or just a rumour? If anybody could assist me with this problem I would really apriciate it as my patients is growing thin.

Any response would be much apriciated or E-Mail [email protected]

Regards and Best wishes.

A:Technical Issues with my PC Help please someone.

That sounds like you are not seating the DIMMs properly. They will make a snap noise when they are seated in correctly (as worrying as that might be!).

Either that , or your mobo is damaged. I have seen that before, but generally because the mobo got cracked when the memory was forced in too hard. It does not sound like that in this case. I think you are not seating properly.

I've got a PC technical problem. Please help?

I very recently encountered a problem with my PC. after about a few minutes when I'm in windows, i get these thin horizontal lines across my screen. but it doesn't end there, shortly after, i get these big thick yellow vertical lines all over my screen!

I can still navigate my cursor but there's absolutely no point cause I can barely see anything!

so here is the thing - its definitely not a monitor problem cause I've connected another monitor and the same problem still occurs. Ive been told to restore my computer back to factory settings but I dont think that will solve the problem, so its either that OR it could be a hardware problem possibly? graphics card maybe?

can anyone help me out here?

P.s. my computer is a new HP PAV... and ive head it for around 3 years now. my warranty is long gone.
