I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,I have a Thinkpad P50 equiped with a fingerprint reader.Worked perfectly well for months, but suddently stopped working.I verified/updated drivers, but this was not the problem.I then had the bad idea of changing the BIOS security option to enable the pre-POST fingerprint option. Now I end-up with a system that keeps rebooting forever preventing me to access the BIOS configuration.(I guess that after pressing F1 for entering BIOS, it expects me to scan my finger, but doesn't find the reader, so reboots again and again.)Please HELPThank you!!

I've had a really hard time using the fingerprint reader. I've set it up multiple times and entered my fingerprint multiple times in hopes that it'll function better but after 3 times it asks me for the PIN. This is what I want to avoid. One of the reasons I bought the X1 was because of the fingerprint reader. I need it to work as intended and as quickly as a phone. Do I need to forcefully press my finger on the reader? I recently purchased an X1 carbon 1st Gen running windows 10 and I can't find a way to get the fingerprint reader to work. It may not be possible but I thought I would see if anyone here has found a solution. Apparently there is a solution for the type 20AF but I can't find a solution or an updated driver for the Type 3460. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. I have updated my Bios and many of my other drivers. I have tried downloading the Synaptic Metallic drivers as well And I tried updating my AthenTec Driver for the fingerprint reader but it still doesn't work.

Hi, after the change from Windows 8 to Windos 10 I had no problems including the fingerprint reader. Everythink runs fine but with the installation of the latest updates from windows (now there is a new look of some windows) my fingerprint reader doesn't work. I was looking around for some solutions but until now I has not been succesful. The fingerprint software ThinkVantage was also not running. I did all updates from the Lenovo suite but also not successful. Finally I wanted to use Windows Hello to operate the fingerprint reader but Windows Hello is not available on my Laptop ... In system settings there was a note that device has been migrated and an installation is required but I haven't still found where and what. I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad X230 with Windows 10/64 (dual boot with Ubuntu), the fingerprinter is described as Authen Tec. Is somebody out there with the same problem and hopefully with a practicable plan or link to fix it? CheersPeter

I used to logg in via fingerprint reader (windows 10) without any problems, now the fingerprint reader doesn't react any longer when I draw the finger. I somehow managed to delete all passwords in the password manager (not even sure about this as I actually don't understand how all the components work together) hoping that this would solve the problem. Not the fingerprint reader software keeps asking me to register a new finger. Everything seems to work out fine (I can choose a finger to be registered, type in my windowns password) untill I'm being asked to draw the finger over the fingerprint reader: Nothing happens! The indicator which shows how much of the finger has been scanned doesn't show anything at all. Looks like the software works, but the fingerprint reader itself is dead. However, looking into the system information the 'TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor' (WBF advanced mode) seems to work correct. Please help. I have not a clue how to find out what goes wrong here.

My laptop recently got a fresh installation of W10x64 and with a little help everything went well.   https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Drivers-missing-for-HP-EliteBoo... "Well." Except the Validity Fingerprint reader (Validity Sensor VFS471, hardware ID USB\VID_138A&PID_003C&REV_0086). Since HP doesn't care about the support of their flaships after few years, there is no driver for this laptop designed for W10. Every driver I tried (picture below) was either ignored by Windows Hello (the reader wasn't recognized) or the Hello started, but the fingerprint texture in dialog box just flashed and didn't accept my finger. Current HP Client Security ignored each of them.                 How to sort it out? HP? Anyone? Thank you.

I have a T460s on a fresh install of Win10. I just bought an external USB fingerprint reader https://www.amazon.com/Fingerprint-PQI-Matching-Biometric-Security/dp/B06XG4MHFJ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&....My hope was that when my laptop was docked (on a ThinkPad Pro dock), I could plug it into a USB port on my external keyboard and login using it. For the time being, I'm just trying to get it working with the laptop undocked (i.e. forget about external keyboards, USB hubs etc.). Starting from scratch (i.e. fingerprints cleared in both Windows and the BIOS, and the external USB NOT plugged in), I setup the internal fingerprint reader, add prints, and am able login with no problem. When I plug in the external reader, drivers install just fine.  I enrolled a different finger, and was able to login just fine. However, when I unplug the external USB reader, I am never able to get the internal reader working again.  With the external unplugged and after a full restart, the internal will still not let me log in: the fingerprint option doesn?t even show up at the Windows login screen. The only way I can get the internal working again is by plugging the external in again (so that it appears in Device Manager), uninstalling both fingerprint devices (just uninstalling the external USB does not work), restarting the computer, and reenrolling my fingerprint using the internal. I know there is an option in the BIOS to just use the internal re... My system is XP. I have Dell Dimension 8400 computer. I have installed Adobe Reader 7.0.5, but it does not work. When I first tried to install it I got this Message: "The following applications are using files that need to be updated by this setup. Close those applications and click retry to continue". At that time I didn't even have Adobe Reader installed, so how could I close it? On a Dell Suuport Forum, I was advised to go to Safe Mode to download it, which I did. However, it still does not work. I can open it. I tried items on the Help Menu, but get "This page cannot be displayed", or referred to My Documents when I click Adobe Reader Help. When I click Support, Online support, or Check for updates now, I get nothing, just a blank.
I have always had Adobe Reader. I first noticed this problem when I tried to print my tax forms from Turbo Tax, it said I may need "to agree to the Adobe agreement which is in back of your browser". I don't know how to get it up from in back of the browser. Once it came up, I clicked "I agree", and everything hung up.
I have also not been able to download forms from IRS. gov or forms from another site.
Also, I am having a very slow Restart, 8 to 10 minutes, on my computer. I have run Defrag and Clean Disk with not much improvement. I cite this just in case it might be related to my Adobe problem, and I didn't want to omit anythng that might be connected.

I've seen this thread somewhere before, but I don't think I see a resolution that will help me. My Flex 5 fingerprint hasn't worked for sometime. I've deleted, updated reloaded, disabled the driver and uppated.  I've reinstalled the chip set and went into the bio to make sure the right settings are enabled. I even explored the possibility there might be a register edit (mind you I'm not a programer by any means).  Bottom line is the driver indicates that there is a failure to load (code 10) and has never worked even for a short time since trying to fix it given I noticed some of the discussions indicate a very short term functionality. Anyone have some ideas given this doesn't seem to be a isolated problem?  I am not open to a clean system or total windows install of any kind given I would rather just be disaapointed than invest all of the time that would take.  Thanks!!!

Any suggestions/help is appreciated.

Well, SP3 causes more of the same problems or even worse. My laptop from an other manufacture gives me a BSOD after installation of SP3.

I never heard of this issue (with the SD card), but I guess it has something to do with SP3 drivers. Maybe you can download some other drivers for the cardreader form the manufacturer website?

Hi

I don't have that Thinkpad model, but for what I remember in some other model the Fingerprint reader was internally connected to an USB port.

You can check some programs like HWInfo and check where is the fingerprint reader plugged to see if Windows recognize there is a deviced plugged on it. It can also be interesting for you to grab the hardwareID to know the manufacturer of it.

Which Windows version are you using?
There is also some fingerprint drivers on the Yoga 260 support site for Win10 and Win7.

Good day,
Got my new and shiny E7470, but there is some trouble in paradise.
Is there a way to improve fingerprint reader? This thing is complete <profanity>. Half of the time it does not recognize the finger and when it recognized, it just takes too long. Updated all drivers and software to the latest, as per dell support suggestion. Still <profanity> :D My old Vostro 3350 FP reader works better in any case.
And the second question is, can the nfc read tags? Installed a couple of programs from windows store, but they do not show the tags info. When the sound is on and I place a tag on the reader, there is chime and that is all. Device manager shows, that device is active and working without problems.
NFC card should be Mifare Plus.

Hello Lenovo team, I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 370 (20JH0023US) less than a year old, since we set it up out of the box, we have been unable to get the fingerprint reader to function. In Device Manager, it shows the device cannot start (Code 10). We have uninstalled, reinstalled with the latest drivers, performed a BIOS update. When we try to clear the Fingerprint data in the BIOS, it sits as "Resetting Fingerprint Data" and gets no further. We have also replaced the Fingerprint reader itself (under warranty) on the keyboard bezel and it is still not working. Can anyone assist in helping us get this working? Is it possible it's a bad factory image of Windows and maybe we should do a reset? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys and gals, The sensor had been hit or miss from day one, when it worked it would sometimes take 3 presses before registering correctly. I've been using these kinds of sensors for years on my phones so I was suprised at how much effort it took to get it to work. It often wasn't avaliable to me when the laptop came out of sleep mode, or if the screen had been locked.  One day last month it stopped working completely. It isn't being detected at all in the device manager, unless it's under a differnt name now. I tried restoring from factory and seeing if I could get it back. After running all the Windows, driver, and firmware updates, it's still not present in the device manager. I went in the BIOS and checked to see that the fingerprint sensor was enabled. It was, and then I tried to delete any fingerprint data, but there wasn't any. So I'm wondering, has anyone else has had a similar issue and if there's a way I can fix this without having to RMA my otherwise kickass laptop?  Maybe the senseor is loose? Should I open her up and make sure everything's tight? I haven't unbuckled any of her fasteners yet, but if it could save me a month of being computerless while she's in the shop, I'll gladly try it.   Cheers
