I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We've had a Thinkpad T530 for several years.  About a year ago, the trackpad's left button began acting like a right click instead of the left click it should be and always had been.  The right button still acts as a right click.  The left trackpoint button works fine as a left click, and I can still tap the trackpad to get a left click, but I'd still like the left trackpad button to work properly. Recently, the hard drive went bad, so I installed a new ssd and a fresh copy of Windows 10.  I was hoping that would fix the trackpad button issue, but it did not.  Today, I installed the ultranav driver, but that did not fix the issue, either. Any additional ideas?

Hi, I have a ThinkPad Yoga 12 2nd gen with these specs: -Processor: Intel core i5-5300U-Ram: 8GB-Hard Drive: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD (installed by myself) and SanDisk 16GB PCIe M.2-Screen: Full HD 10 point multi-touch with Wacom digitizer-BIOS: JEET78WW (1.27) The trackpad and trackpoint on this laptop has stopped working the second time and with that, the CPU fan has halted as well, with the backlit function of the keyboard non-working as well. The fan is really important because my heavy-duty use of this machine makes it really hot real quick. My laptop is pretty much useless without it and want a solution for it. I did try to update my BIOS for this because on some forums, this was an issue fixed by updating their BIOS. The system does not recognize the Synaptics trackpad and trackpoint (yes the TRACKPOINT is not working as well) and I have tried downloading the drivers of the trackpad, but to no luck the system did not recognize the trackpad. It seems as if there is a faulty connection physically, but I could not figure it out. The first time it happened, I sent it back for an in Depot Service, but this time around, I am out of warranty and when I asked a ThinkPad Certified Technician, he recommended me to simply buy a new machine rather than getting it serviced because it would cost me more than half as much of the original price of my laptop. I really like this laptop and don't want to change it, but if I have to, the 8th generation Intel pro... The Trackpad is unusable on my Thinkpad Yoga 260. When I try to use it it doesn't respond most of the time. Strangly though when I use the very tip of my finger it does work. To me that sounds like the palm rejection is too harsh. Also the scrolling gesture doesn't work if I place my fingers vertically. It does work if I place them horizontally). The Trackpad is from Elantech. I tried changing the driver settings, re-installing it and nothing helped. The problem with the Trackpoint is that when I try to scroll vertically using the middle button the scrolling symbol often first shows up horizontally and I need to press the trackpoint hard to get it to scroll. This all on Windows 10. I am thinking that this is all a driver issue because I tried out Ubuntu and there it works without problems also uninstalling the driver gets the Touchpad to work but the gestures don't work then. But if this is a driver issue shouldn't everyone have this problem?

Hello everyone!  Recently I found that the trackpad and trackpoint would suddenly lose response. The cursor is gone; pressing any button---nothing. But I could still use the touchscreen to navigate and the Windows 10 doesn't freeze.  It happens out of the blue. It has happened two times in 2 or 3 days. Those times I was using my computer broswing the web, unlike others having this issue from waking up. I updated the mouse driver but this issue is still not resolved.  Do anyone has similiar issue? I would really appreciate any help! Have a good day

I've been using this L412, #4403,  for a few years, and quite satisfied with it.Sorry for the long post, I believe the chain of events are relevant to the issue. A few days ago the fan died. I cleaned the laptop less than half a year ago so probably not dust issue. I dual-boot Windows 7 and Linux Mint Qiana and it wouldn't work on either of them, so probably not OS issue. BIOS doesn't have any fan info.Replaced it with a new fan, correct model, everything according to the manual and proper CPU fan replacement practices. After assembly everything was working as usual. Next day everything was working as usual. On its second day the fan didn't turn on when I turned the laptop on. At the same time, trackpad and trackpoint stopped working, volume control doesn't work, and the special Fn keys don't work. The F1-F12 keys work. Insert, Delete, Home, End keys work. The Fn+Insert does a Screenshot as it should, but none of the other Fn special keys work. All that happened at once, from the moment I booted up the laptop. I checked the two OSs again. None of the above work on either of them. Doesn't work during boot-up sequence.Found a way on Linux Mint to turn on the fan to full-power, but it's like that only after the OS reaches the desktop. Auto mode makes it turn 0 RPM, full-power makes it turn at about 435 RPM (very stable). I assume it's not an OS issue because it stopped on both of them at the same time, and it doesn't work during boot-up sequence even though... I bought a Yoga 460 from the Lenovo Outlet (refurbished) and it is completely wrong on specs (wrong graphics, wrong HD, wrong display, etc.). However, moving beyond that for a moment, I am having two issues related to trackpads/trackpoints. I am on Windows 10 and haven't even installed anything. (1) The cursor is arbitrarily moving around the screen. When I turn off the Trackpoint, the cursor no longer moves erratically. (2) Once I turn off Trackpoint, the Trackpad is still super laggy. Moving the cursor across the screen is choppy and slow. The touchscreen, meanwhile, is lightning quick and fine. I updated my drivers and hardware checks out in Lenovo Solutions Center. I am terribly disappointed in the product I have received so far and hope that once I return the product and receive the product I actually ordered.

I have a user that has a 2nd Generation X1 Carbon (the type with virtual buttons on the Synaptics TrackPoint/TrackPad.   The user is complaining that a context sensitivie menu (of the type that a right click would initiate) intermittently is shown when she left clicks.  She normaly uses the TrackPad but does use the TrackPoint on ocassion.  Here's what I've done so far: 1) I initially thought it was the TrackPad and had Lenovo Support replace it.  The problem was reduced but is still occurs. 2) I've installed current UltraNav drivers and updated all other drivers to current levels.  The WIndows 10 is also updated to current patches.  I would try setting the UltraNave to "Click Anywhere" but that disables the TrackPoint feature that is ocassionally used.  Has anyone seen this happen before and know a fix for this?

Just purchased a new to me W530 with Windows 10 Pro.  It was fine for 24 hours, then the Trackpoint failed.  Device manager said that there was an event and the device migrated.  It then reinstalled and downloaded drivers and it hasn't worked since.  BIOS says it's enabled, start menu under mouse, the box for enabled is not clicked, and it won't let me click it.  Yes, I'm the administrator.  Tried redownloading Synaptic drivers and restarting, no joy.  Under uninstall it shows two drivers:  a Lenovo driver and a Synaptics driver.  If I uninstall either one, I'm afraid I'll lose the ability to use my cursor.    All I can use right now is a plug in mouse because the touch pad isn't reliable now.  Suggestions?

HelloAs many others have described in other posts, my trackpoint is not working. It sometimes works when I go into advanced boot options, and when I do a hard restart (unplug batteries, or reset bios to OS optimized defaults) it sometimes starts working again for a small period of time. Then it can stop working, either after a hibernation, but also just in the middle of using the computer. (I was watching netflix I think when that happened)What is the best cause of action?Everybody seems to agree, that it is a BIOS issue, as the problem often persists to other OS's.I would rather not open my computer, however I can and have done that in the past with other thinkpads. If I send it in to lenovo, what will they do to fix it there? And can I just do that from home, with a set of small screwdrivers?

Hi  I just got my new T440 today. After the automatic installation of win 7 the trackpoint did not work. Then i looked in the  control panal -> mouse -> thinkPad and saw that both the trackpoint touchpad were enabled. In order to fix the problem I downloaded the latest ultranav driver -> uninstalled the old version -> rebooted -> installed the new version - > rebooted, but it still does not work. As far as I can see all the functionality (the different gesture commands) of the touchpad is working so I guess the ultranav driver is correctly installed.  Does any one have and idea what could be the problem? Thanks in advance!

I already tried the RICOH SD Card Reader driver and the SmartCard Reader Driver for Windows 10 but after a reboot none of them were working. So, during the windows installer, no mouse. I couldn't see the pointer, neither the touchpad or trackpoint worked. I managed through using the keyboard, then once I got to the desktop I installed the "Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad" driver and rebooted. Still not working. I installed the thinkvantage system update, it detects no updates. I installed the service bridge. No updates. I then made a linux live USB that I use to install manjaro on all my laptops, yes everything worked out of the box on my previous x1 carbon. Touchpad doesn't work, xorg doesn't even recognize any touchpad present. Anyone else have this? Any solutions? This is actually my 2nd X1 carbon; the first works well but the mouse buttons are loose so Lenovo promised waived restocking and shipping with the purchase of a new order of equal or greater value; I ordered another one with plans to return the first one, because I really needed to keep it for work while I waited for the new one. The new one is actually flawless in terms of build, mouse buttons are solid, the CMOS battery is not loose and producing a rattling noise as it is in the first one, and the bottom cover doesn't have the clicking noise that so many are afflicted with. Really I'm willing to try anything to fix the touchpad.

Hi whitehouse87,
Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you again.

As I understand that you are facing issue with Touchpad & Trackpoint buttons are not working in T410.
You have tried almost everything & I don't think so its related to software or drivers. You can check without drivers once whether clicks are working or not. Else its a hardware issue for sure

I hope the above information helped you.
Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

Good Day!I'm from the Philippines and I bought a refurbished thinkpad p50 from the US at 2016 and I extended its NBD warranty until June 1, 2018. The touchpad and trackpad suddenly stopped working a few weeks ago and it seems that the bios can't recognize them. The wifi reception seems to have also weaken, requiring me to be closer to the wifi source than before. I also tried reinstalling the drivers but it can't still identify the two pointing device. I'm actually planning to ship it to the US this week before my NBD warranty expires, but I don't know anyone from the US right now to avail the NBD service. May I know which address must I send it to, and the proper procedures to avail the repairs?I already spent $170 for the warranty extension last year, and I'll be spending another $100 for the DHL shipping to the US. May I also know if Lenovo will answer the shipping back to my country, since if not, I'll be spending another $100 for it to be shipped back to the Philippines?I also tried calling the service center from the US but I kept on having long calls with no response. Thanks!

Hi All! I have a problem that's driving me crazy - hope someone here can help me solve it. I have a W541 with Windows 10 installed and all updates, including latest feature pack. My TrackPoint has been behaving very strangely. The below details have proved consistent over 3 OS fresh installations:- After installation and before any reboots, TrackPoint takes some time to start working (10 - 15 mins), but eventually it works perfectly. Pointer, mouse buttons, middle button, everything works. Mouse control panel shows the TrackPoint checkbox enabled and checked.- After first reboot, it stops working. Mouse control panel shows the TrackPoint checkbox disabled and unchecked. BIOS configuration shows the TrackPoint should be enabled. No changes after installation of the latest drivers downloaded from the Lenovo support portal.- In Device Manager, under "Mice and other pointing devices", there is a "Synaptics Pointing Device". When I uninstall the driver for this device, the TrackPoint works, but without the middle button functionality, and no configuration in Control Panel. I am assuming this is Windows trying to interface with the hardware directly via generic drivers. Eventually, the drivers automatically re-install and TrackPoint functionality is lost again.- The strangest detail of all: while TrackPoint is not working in normal Windows 10 operation, it works if I lock the screen!! Once I login though, it stops working again.- The above 2 points are confirmation i... Read more

A:W541 TrackPoint Working on Locked Screen Only!!

Secondary detail which may or may not be relevant - Fingerprint reader didn't work at any time. Drivers are installed, but Windows Hello has always shown fingerprint setup to be disabled.

I have a Thinkpad T440S and have a problem that many have reported. The trackpoint and touchpad initially work upon bootup but then stop working after a few minutes.I believe I've tried everything (uninstall/reinstall drivers, replace keyboard, replace hard drive and do a complete reinstall of all software, update everything, etc etc etc). Nothing works and the only reason I can still use my computer is that a wireless mouse will work. It's time to get a new computer. I've bought Thinkpads for more than a decade but I still see this problem being reported for the T470 so Lenovo can't or won't bother to fix this. Any suggestions for a different brand and model? I do like the trackpoint so does that mean Dell is my only alternative?

Hi, After dropping my laptop, both touchpad and trackpont have stopped working along with buttons on touchpad. I am wondering if I need to replace keyboard and touchpad or should I have a look at something first before doing this. I've checked Hardware maintenance manual and couldn't find any related information regarding this.

Good Morning. I have an issue with a T570 laptop's trackpoint BUTTONS. Machine is running Windows 7 Pro. When the "generic" Microsoft Compatible PS2 driver is installed, the Trackpoint and 3 Buttons work with no issues, however you lose all gestures on the touchpad. When any version of the Synaptics driver I can get my hands on is installed, the Trackpoint continues to work, however the 3 buttons die. The trackpoint check box in the UltraNav settings tab is checked. If I uncheck, the trackpoint stops working (as would be expected). Checking it again allows the Trackpoint to work but the buttons remain dead. Without being too long winded I do want to throw out there that this laptop is in an Enterprise environement and was imaged using a build from T560.If the Windows 7 OS that came from the factory is left on the machine, the Trackpoint buttons function with no issue.Note that the driver versions of both the MS Compatible PS2 driver and the Synaptics driver between the Factory image and the Enterprise image are the same. I'm sure the solution is buried in the registry somewhere, just not sure what to change or delete entirely to get the buttons reenabled. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
