Q: use wireless & ethernet in mac in the same time

hi...i have a macbook and a pc.....and i have subscribed in 2 internet isps. one of them is just wireless network and the other one is DSL ....i was wondering is it possible to use both of them in my mac at the same time and reffer some of applications to one and others to otherone?

Preferred Solution: use wireless & ethernet in mac in the same time

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

First of all im not a professional on what concern networking and stuff, so ill expose my problem here in the hope of having a positive reply.
a wierd problem happened yesterday when i was connecting with my phone, pc, and smart tv...
everything was fine until 00:09 am in my country time, where i lost connection on my pc and phone (which were connected using wireless) and not the case for my smart tv ( which is connected using wired ethernet cable), misteriously, my router lights were green which means i haven't any problem related to connection, so it brings me to think about ip adresses being messed up or something,
i restarted the router several times , and i litterally get the connection back for like 30 seconds using wireless on my phone and pc, but after a while same problem occured,
now because i know how to get into the router settings, i used ethernet cable and entered the adress and password of course, i checked up which devices were connected to my router ( if theres a hacking attempt or something) all i can see is my devices with individual ip adresses connected ( pc, phone, smart wired tv, printer ...) means there wasnt anybody at this time connecting, only my devices were there...

PS: all i can see in my pc is "unkown sereur" with a yellow ! after 30 seconds of course.

So please guys im asking to pay attention to this annoying problem and hopefully having a postitve reply.

Sincerly, Xtradip

I have an annoying problem.... and please forgive me as I am not to techy when it comes to computers. In our office we have our PC's connected to our inter-office network server via the Ethernet ports (Local Area Connection) with a hard wire to a hub, that in turn runs to our server. We also each have a wireless internet connection on our PC's via a USB wireless adapter. When we were using XP this was not a problem to have access to the server AND the internet at the same time.

When my PC died last year I bought a Dell Inspiron 560 slim tower with Windows 7 to replace my XP machine. The first problem I ran into was that I could no longer use the wireless internet connection AND the hard wired connection to our server operating at the same time. If I stayed connected to our server, I will not have a wireless connection. If I go into the "Local Area Connection" properties and "disable" the connection, I almost instantly get my wireless connection back. The big issue when doing this is if I leave our database program (ACT!) open while the server connection is disabled, I have to shut down ACT!, then restart it before I can connect it to the server. If I try to without closing and reopening it I get all kinds of errors.

So, in the mean time, I have just put a shortcut on my desktop that allows me to enable and disable the Local Area Connection when I need internet access.

A couple days ago, my boss's PC grabbed a virus that slipped past McAfee (... Read more

I am having some issues. I am new to windows 7 and was very hesistant to switch. Work bought me a new computer and i had no choice. Here is my setup:

At work, we have multiple laptops running on Verizon Wireless 4g Air Cards. Our printer in plugged into a Netgear VPN Firewall. When running XP, i was able to be connected to the 4g Air Card and have the ethernet cord plugged in allowing me to print and scan.

The 4g Air Card connects via a "lan adapter"

With Windows 7, I can no longer do this. When i am connect via the air card, i have no issues. as soon as I plug in the ethernet cord, i dont have any internet connection. It says it is connected, but I cannot visit any websites. As soon as I unplug the ethernet cord, everything works fine.

Does anyone know of a fix to this problem? I am sorry if there is already an answer for this somewhere else, but I couldn't find it in the forums.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

A:Using a wireless air card and ethernet cord at the same time

You will need to edit your routing tables in windows to tell it to route internet traffic over the wimax.

You might also be able to set the metrics for the cards setting the wimax card to 1 and the others to 9999. This may work but it most likely will be flakey.

Hi, I currently connect to the internet through a wired ethernet port in the wall which connects to my university's network.

I want to make this wireless since I bought a new macbook and was wondering if this product would do it? http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006PYGWG6

I don't know much about it but I was concerned because the Router Mode says 'cable connection only' and I'm not sure the connection is cable (is it ADSL?). Will I need anything else like a modem?

Any advice?

When both the wireless NIC and the physical Ethernet NIC are both connected to a network that has an active Internet connection, which one will the host use for network data?

Will it randomly use both to get data, or will it choose the faster connection?

Just a question I thought of today.

A:Using Wi-Fi and Ethernet at Same Time

There is nothing to be gained in what you suggest.

On speed alone, the ethernet connection is going to be quicker than a wireless connection.

I have tried what you suggest and discovered I was being plagued with dropped connections, which was rectified by disabling the wireless adapter.

Dear All,

I hope you can help. Recently bought a new LaCie Wireless Space.
I am connected to it as a wi-fi router to get onto the internet.
However, my Time Machine software will not recognise it as a time capsule.
If I search for it in Airport Utility I a message that says "Airport Utility was unable to find any Airport wireless device" etc etc. Yet I am currently connected to it on wi-fi.

Also, if I open Time Machine and "select backup disk" the following appears:
MyShare on "WirelessSpace (Time Machine)"
OpenShare on "WirelessSpace (Time Machine)"

But on selecting either of them the following message appears:
Time Machine can't access the backup disk "MyShare". (or "OpenShare")
The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 5.)

Finally, if I go into my Disk Utilities , there is no LaCie Wireless Space icon in the left column
However, there is a Wireless Sace (Time Machine) icon under the "Shared" column when I click on the computers hard drive icon on the desktop, BUT is states "Connection Failed"

I really have no idea where else to look and what else to do - other than contact LaCie - but they have not got back to me now for 3 days.

Any ideas????

Most days i power on my pc and both ethernet and wifi have that not responding yellow triangle beside them. If see this then usually it wont work for the rest of the day, and may or may not work the next day. There have been times when neither ethernet or wifi would work for a full week and im stuck using my phone hotspot. When i use troubleshoot its says, "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer", this is on windows 10. When i was previously on windows 8.1 the error would be, "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource microsoft.com is not responding". The WiFi works on everything else in my house so I guess it's a problem with my PC.

It has been like this for quite a while now and i have no idea how to fix it, so any help would be appreciated, Thank you

Atheros Wireless Adapter - AR5007EG & AR5007
Over the last couple of years we have been seeing a lot of problems with the above adapters, mainly concerning WPA and WPA2 encryption and mainly on windows Vista.
We have seen just a couple of issues on other windows operating system, windows XP and windows 7.

Windows XP:- A driver update has resolved the issue
Windows 7 :- No conclusive results for a fix

The wireless adapter gets an IP configuration, and shows as connected, but communication is non-existent or sporadic.

Log into the Router and disable the wireless security and see if you are now able to connect to the internet and surf OK.
Please post back a reply here, and let us know if that works or does not work.
If you post back the make and exact model of the router - we can advise how to disable the wireless security

Here are a number of possible solutions

--- 1) In Device Manager right click on the wireless adapter and "update driver."

--- 2) Download and install the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site support section,

If you post a reply here with the Make and EXACT model of your PC, along with the windows version you are running. we will see if we can find a link to the driver and will post a reply with the link here.

A:Ethernet and Wireless

Your internet speed is determined by your provider and the package you have, it is irrelevant how fast your connection to router is as long as it is at least a little faster than speed to the provider. So you can not change the internet speed above what provider gives you.

I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 4 port wireless broadband router with 2 x wireless laptops that can see each other and share files fine. I also have a PC which is hardwired to the router. All 3 machines have an IP address from the range I configured and all 3 machines can access the internet. The problem I'm having is that my hardwired PC cannot see the workgroup I have set up so therefore it can't see the 2 wireless laptops. The 2 wireless laptops can see the hardwired PC but cannot connect to it to view the shared folders.

I have switched all firewalls off, changed lots of config in the router, reset it to default, rebuilt my hardwired PC, pulled out some hair, changed network settings all over the place but just cannot get the hardwired PC to see the workgroup.

Any suggestions anyone ! !

A:! ! ! ! ! Ethernet Can't See Wireless ! ! ! ! !

Well, as long as all three are getting DHCP addresses from the same network, then the router isn't to blame, so, get it configured and leave it alone.

You say you've setup a workgroup for the laptops. That desktop machine also needs to be a part of that same workgroup. Then, you need to have the same username and password combination on the three machines, and then the desktop should be able to share files with the laptops.

And you definitely want the firewalls disabled until you get things working.

Here's something that is causing massive loss of hair.....

My PC is connected to my router with a wireless card. I also connect my PS2 to my PC using an ethernet connection (the ps2 is "modified" and I use this connection to play music and video thru the ps2 to the TV).

Everything works fine with one exception. It seems like the wireless is not getting a DNS. To obtain one, I have to disable the ethernet card, connect to my AP, then enable the card. If I lose my connect with the AP (which happens sometimes, it's on the other side of the house and the signal is a little weak), then when it reconnects I have to do the whole disable/enable thing.

It's not a huge deal, but I do like my stuff to work properly and usually things like this are not problem for me, but this one really has me wondering. Anyone have any ideas?

Here's my ipconfig /all if that helps. What's odd is the ipconfig is *exactly* the same when I can connect and when I can't. So maybe it's not a DNS issue, but something else. But I am unable to connect to any web sites until I disable and re-enable the ethernet card.

So I just bought myself a new laptop (hp dv6910us) and I'm enjoying it thoroughly but I have a very basic question about what to use in terms of internet. In my apartment, I can easily connect to the internet through my ethernet connection or through the wireless. Both are smooth, fast connections. In terms of increasing the lifespan and battery-life of the computer, should I stick primarily to connecting through the ethernet or through my wireless connection? That probably means that they want to restrict usage to one computer per connection and do not want wireless networks set up. So, please check with the IT department before doing anything, as it's not very hard for them to detect violations.

On the assumption that you will not attempt this unless it falls within the rules, you can use a Wireless Access Point (WAP). Use encryption, preferably WPA2-PSK, AES, but at least WPA-PSK, TKIP. Use a passphrase that cannot be guessed and does not include dictionary words.

Is there such a thing as a 5 Ghz Ethernet card, or is just 5 Ghz wireless?

A:Ethernet vs. wireless

No - 2.4/5 GHZ refer to the wireless frequency.

Ethernet comes in two speeds mostly - older 100 Mb/s (100 megabits) or more modern 1000 Mb/s (1 Gigabit). Of course, these are usually much faster than internet speeds even for slower 100 Mb/s unless you have amazingly fast broadband.

If I am going to use ethernet for an extended time I remove an external wireless adapter or switch an integrated wireless off. But that's to extend the life of the unused component and to save the battery if on battery. If you are using a PCI wireless card with the desktop then disabling it is probably the best you can do. But that is not going to impact your ethernet usage, so it is really your choice.

Please show the following for when you have an ethernet connection and for when it has dropped ...

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

A:Wireless and ethernet speeds are the same pls help

I'm afraid i don't know anythinge else about your setup.
Is the wireless router connected directly to the Ethernet router? are they combined? what are the brand and product names?
is this DSL, Cable, or Optical Fiber internet?

also, could it be that the other two computers were limited wirelessly to the speed of a WIfI G network, while both the router and the new computer are WiFi n compatible?

Hello, are we can make ICS with Ethernet and wireless at same time? If can, how to apply it?

A:ICS with LAN/Ethernet Card and Wireless

Hi crossnet,

Can you please explain what you mean by "at the same time"? A description of the desired setup would be helpful.

(Before i start, i have checked multiple threads on this site about my problem but none atm have seemed to work, im sorry if this topic arrises constantly but i have done a search but my problem still presists.)

My problem has been going on roughly since i aquired the laptop but im sure that it isn't a hardware fault as it is both the ethernet and wireless adapter having problems.

My ethernet will disconnect usually once or twice a day usually an hour after the laptop has been turned on. After that it won't disconnect again.
The wireless internet will disconnect more often and it is random as to when it will happen.

The disconnection happens like this,
Unable to browse the web using any internet browser like firefox or internet explorer
Any online game i play kicks me from the server to a login screen (if the game has one)
However, the laptop still shows a stable connection to the ethernet/wireless. It will show the yellow triangle with an exclamation mark for a second then show a stabe connection.

Laptop Specs;

Windows 7 64-bit
AMD Athlon II Dual-core M320 2.1 GHz
Wireless Adapter - Atheros AR9285
Ethernet Adapter - Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

So far i have tried;

Updating all devices,
Uninstalled the devices and re-installed,
Unistalled Anti-virus software,
Disabled Firewalls,
Changing Channels on the router,
Update Router firmware,
Reseting the router.

Thanks for taking your time to read the above and thanks for any help that you can ... Read more

I am having real issues with both wired and wireless connections. Basically, I don?t have either all of a sudden. One day my system was fine, the next nothing. I have searched and carried out all the obvious and non-obvious ideas but have got nowhere. I have even been out and bought a new Netgear WNDA3100v2 and NIC. Everything is recognised by Windows but will not connect to the internet. Please can anyone help. I suspect and fear that it is a Windows problem and that I will have to reload the OS. (Win7 64bit)

I have an Acer Aspire 7552G laptop running Windows 7 x64 that is having problems with connecting to the internet.

I started to notice the wireless and LAN connections becoming very weak, web pages would load slower, data would take longer to download, etc. This lasted for a couple weeks. As of now, I cannot get any signal, neither wireless nor LAN.

I normally use Google Chrome but have tried to connect through multiple browsers.

I have tried updating the wireless/ethernet drivers, and I have also tried uninstalling them all together and reinstalling them. Both to no avail. I have no idea how to resolve this issue and am hoping the tech pros here can help me out!

Wireless LAN and LAN vendors are both Broadcom and the drivers can be found here: Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 7552G

How are you measureing the stregth of the ethernet connection?

Who is your ISP ?. . What Brand and Model is the Modem and Router?

Lets take a peek at your network environment:

Power Cycle everything . . Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . turn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect to the internet.

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for the network again.

Then: check your browser's settings, remove any proxy settings if found here's how.

with the pc connected to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

Ethernet cable connections are ok
The computers that connect wirelessly have to be restarted often to regain connection.

from one of the computers - can we see an xirrus screen shot please

Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

( the site now appears to require a business email, and does not allow webbased emails like gmail, hotmail or yahoo etc )

Use the links below

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.
On windows 8 - (i do not have windows 8) but, it would appear that, When you first try to run, you may get a message that .net framework is needed, and included in that message is a link to download/install.

Run the program

Dear all,

I have read all (i think) homegroup topics here but none solved my problem.
Homegroup is working perfectly when both computer are connected to router by ethernet cable.

As soon as i unplug the cable from computer 1. None of the computer is recognizing the homegroup of the other.

I tried rebooting both computers. Leaving homegroup, rebooting create new homegroup >> nothing helps.

Both computer get internet, can connect to the router, both computer can see and share folders with each other via the the network sharing way.

Both ethernet & wireless connection show up as HOME NETWORK

I have executed the Homegroup troubleshooter on both computers No changes.

Any clues on this?

Many thanks!

A:HomeGroup OK via ethernet but NOT via wireless

I believe homegroup is tied to the network connection. Did you create a homegroup for the wireless network connection?

My ISP has supplied a Thompson Gateway router with wireless and 4 Ethernet ports. I connect to the internet from my desktop machine (Windows XP) via Ethernet.

My new Fujitsu Esprimo Mobile V6555 (Windows XP Professional) connects to the internet via wireless. I swapped to using Ethernet for a couple of days but when I wanted to use wireless again I failed. I tried lots of things but eventually did a “restore” to a date prior to the use of Ethernet and all was well again. I experimented and can now swap between the two PROVIDED I disable the wireless connection before plugging in the Ethernet cable.

I can understand the Fujitsu not being able to use both systems at the same time but was surprised that having them both connected should then disable the wireless connection requiring a “restore” to get it back. I contacted Fujitsu and got the following response:-

“You should always be aware of whether you are connected to the wired or wireless network, and use only one network connection at a time. Your laptop can also be connected to both networks simultaneously, which can cause network instability, slow connectivity or confusing the OS!”

I would like to occasionally “network” the Fujitsu to the desktop machine using a spare Ethernet port on the router. This would only be used for basic exchange of files, no sharing of printers or scanners, or opening a file from one machine in an application running on the other, just very basic file exchange.

Here is the support and driver downloads site for the Acer Aspire 4720Z laptop/notebook.

I suggest you add and save this site in your browser favorites/bookmarks list so you can readily refer to it when needed.

You may need to reinstall or update the driver for the wireless device.
