I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I got a ThinkPad T430 yesterday and have been enjoying setting everything up, installing all of my software, and tweaking every last setting to my personal preference. I've got almost everything set up the way I like it, but there's one big problem left. I cannot for the life of me find the option to enable right-click or middle-click using the touchpad. In my experience, when using standard laptop touchpads, you're generally able to right-click and middle-click using a two finger tap or three finger tap. Neither of these options work on my laptop. I have downloaded the Lenovo System Update software, which in turn updated all of my drivers. This includes my touchpad driver, so everything seems to be in order in that regard. However, I've gone through every option in the touchpad settings and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I've included a screenshot of the touchpad settings, so if any of you can point me towards which option I'll need to explore in order to enable right-click and middle-click taps, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

so i have been to an internet cyber cafe, its like a room in the street it has computers with internet and you pay according to the time u spent , i went there for the fast internet and the mouse on that computer always releases the clicks or even double clicks sometimes so i thought it was a hardware problem as the mouse could be busted, anyway when i brought back all the things i downloaded, they had viruses in them so i deleted them using avira anti virus, but now my mouse behaves exactly like the mouse at that cyber cafe so im pretty sure its not a hardware problem but some kind of malware or something, i thought avira could detect it all , anyway if anyone has had a similar experience and knows a fix please help

edit 1 : i just tried using the touch-pad i cliked and held the window and started moving it all around the screen and suddenly it got released while i was still holding the left click and ended up highlighting some text on the page which means it double clicked automatically, im very sure its some virus, please help or i might have to format the laptop , if u need any additional info just tell me how i can get it and i will

I just bought an Ideapad 700 and I love everything about it until I noticed I couldn't bring up a context menu (right click, popup menu, whatever you call it where you are).  I tried for nearly 3 hours and the best I came up with was making the 3 finger double tap into the right click menu.  Uninstalling the elantech driver and using the Microsoft Windows 10 driver didn't work.  I installed the Asus driver and that actually did work for the 2 finger double tap right click, but I hate that too.  I just want normal touchpad behavior where you hit the right button area for the context menu.  Is there any way to do that behavior, or just have 2 finger single tap?  I didn't expect to pay this much for a laptop and spend hours on something this stupid.  It's almost becoming a deal-breaker for me.

The 100s has no way to disable tap to click on the touchpad. This 'feature' makes it nearly impossible for me to use the touchpad, and I bought this laptop for it to be entirely self contained. The the touchpad uses the microsoft HiD Driver. There is no option to disable tap to click in Windows Settings or the HiD driver in the device manager. Is there any 32bit driver or other solution to disable tap to click?

I recieved my Pavillion Laptop 15-au070sa for Christmas 2016, so I've had it less than three weeks, and I'm finding that clicking the mousepad is way too hard, my hands are painfull within minutes. The pressure needed to click the mousepad is way higher than it should be, and I cannot find a way to alter the pressure in the settings. I have now got a bluetooth mouse, which helps when I am sitting at a table. However, most of the time I use my laptop on my lap, so I don't have room for an external mouse, plus, I don't see why I should be placed in a position where I have no option but to use an external mouse. How should I deal with this please?

Hi, I have an Ideapad Y430 that was purchased January this year. The problem I am facing is that the touchpad mouse goes crazy when I am sitting with the laptop at certain angles.Particularly, if I am lounging on a couch with the laptop sitting in my lap... The mouse pointer goes crazy and windows start opening up and I can see left and right click menus coming up on the screen even when I am not touching the mousepad on the laptop.I have no problems using USB mouse though.I was wondering if anyone here has faced a similar problem and if so, what is the solution.I have tried checking for updated drivers and even installing Windows 7 but it is the same problem no matter what and it is pretty frustrating. I will appreciate any help on the issue Thanks,Sunny

A:Help! Ideapad touchpad mouse goes crazy.

I think the case interferes with the mouse when you rest your hands on it. My Fujitso, Dell and Lenovo have the same problems. It is ok if I don't lean my hands on the case and just touch the keys. Maybe the have the same vendor making the mouse pad.

A really strange behavour happens on my E460: when I use touchpad to left click on a file, it becomes a mouse hold, which means if I move the mouse pointer at this moment, the file is dragged. I can only release the mouse hold by doing a mouse click again. It really makes a lot of trouble as it causes me to accidentally drag some files. Also, when I am using excel, when I click on a cell, due to the mouse click becomes a mouse hold, so when I move the mouse pointer, it begins to highlight a range of cells. I tried to updated the BIOS, and also update to the latest touchpad driver, but none of them solve the problem. I can only solve the problem by removing the touchpad driver, but this cause all the useful features (e.g. scrolling by using 2 fingers) disappear. Also, it causes another problem. When I'm using excel, I can't double click a cell to edit the text inside. I need to triple click to edit, which is very strange. So removing the touchpad driver can solve one problem but bringing two other problems........ Anyone had such kind of issues too? Any way to solve it? Thanks.

When you say delayed do you mean that the left mouse button does not work for a certain period of time? What happens if you try to push the button before this delayed period is up? A good place to start is to possibly try reinstalling the synaptic software and see where you get from there.... What is the specific model of your pc?

Up until the most recent windows 10 home Automatic update (version 1709), I've been able to use the mouse properites settings to turn off the touchpad to avoid accidental clicks and mouse movement, and instead use the trackpoint only.  I can select to still use "gestures" to scroll, zoom, etc, and use the touchpad to right and left click. Since the update, the left and right click buttons are unresponsive, unless I use the mouse properties to fully enable the touchpad. This seems like a software glitch.  When I downloaded and tried to reinstall the drivers from lenovo, the installation package tells me it can't find a synaptics device.  Anyone else run into this? Thanks.

For missing drivers in Device Manager:

Most drivers uploaded from the support site are certified tested drivers by the manufacturer's engineers .
This doesn't limit users to customize their installation of operating system and likewise drivers .

Microsoft Windows 7 would also have its own native driver thru device manager update driver option.
On device manager , update driver and browse my computer , let me pick  option for the generic driver.

or

Just like having a custom built machine with a retail OS to get proper drivers you can use the hardware ID's and getting it directly from the manufacturer of the device .

Steps using hardware ID then searching it via google.
Checking on PCIDatabase for the manufacturer /vendor and related drivers.

For Hotkey specific buttons:

Download and install this  .
Check also on Hotkey if enabled on BIOS .
Turn off the pc and use the Novo Button (number 6 page 7)
From the Novo menu choose BIOS set up. Configuration tab , hotkey switch.

After enabling it i realised that i can't scroll or zoom in/out anymore with my touchpad. So i downloaded a Recommended ELan on the lenovo site that was listed with the ideapad. After downloading it i realised it wasn't for an ideapad but for a notebook. I quickly deleted this but now my mouse (touchpad) is acting weird and i still can scrool/zoom.

Hello, im trying to figure out, how to enable 3 finger tap for a middle mouse click on my yoga 720 15. There are some solutions out there suggesting editing the registry, but i don't have the entries they name and no other entries, that could be related to the touchpad for that matter. The device manager lists the touchpad simply as "hid-compatible touchpad" with no further information. I even tried installing the synaptics software on the off chance, that that would work, but it said, that no synaptic device was detected. I can switch the 3 finger tap from opening cortana to opening the info center, to doing nothing, but thats it. Can anyone help me? regards Sebastian

I recently purchased an XPS 15 9550 and I need middle mouse click in some of my applications. Under touchpad settings, It only allows mapping 3-finger click to Cortana or Activity Center. Does anyone know how I can get the touchpad to send a middle mouse click to my applications?  On previous laptops I have owned, they typically included a Synaptics touchpad, which always made it easy to perform this mapping using a 3-finger click, but it seems like Dell has included something custom and no such options appear to be available. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Left Mouse Click on Laptop Touchpad stopped working

I assume you have checked your settings in Control Panel > Mouse Properties?

It will save a lot of time if you can determine whether this is a hardware problem or a software problem.
Try this: Download a copy of UBUNTU. Put this on a USB stick. Boot from the USB stick and choose to Run The Program (you do not need to install it on your hard drive). Then check to see if the mousepad works OK in UBUNTU. If it does then it is a Windows/Software problem. If it doesn't then it is a defective mousepad.

I have a Dell XPS 14z which is about 11 months old. I have Windows 7. I am having trouble with left-clicking.

I first noticed the problem while working in AutoCAD. I suddenly stopped being able to use my left-click button at all. I hit ctrl+S to save so that I could reboot, hoping the button would resume functioning when I restarted. Strangely left-click immediately started working again. Initially I only had this problem in AutoCAD. The semester ended and I stopped using AutoCAD. I was assuming that there was a problem with that program and planned to reinstall before the next (this) semester of school.

Then, I started experiencing left-click problems while browsing the internet, I use Chrome. I do tend to open a lot of tabs at a time when I am running a search, don't know if this is relevant. Left-click sometimes would randomly stop working, sometimes it would just lag - click..... wait.... action long after expected, sometimes it would randomly also start working again. Sometimes when using the left button to drag a scroll bar in chrome it would "stick" (the function would stay on, the button did not appear to be physically stuck and this happens with mouse or touchpad) and moving the cursor away from the scroll bar would navigate the page up and down. The non functional left-click problem would also occur in Windows, when I would say attempt to go into device manager to see what was up.

Hello and welcome JM looks like you have tried just about everything maybe you are looking at a warranty job my friend because I was going to suggest cleaning the mouse but if the same thing happens with the touch pad then that isn't much help.

If most of the drivers or whatever software fixes have not worked then just maybe a problem with the internal connections as you say a hardware issue, it only takes one dry joint or a dodgy cap to throw the whole thing out.

By the way you haven't spilt anything on the machine or dropped it or maybe a voltage spike if you have been using the mains adaptor without a surge protection device?

I have a brand new Latitude E7470 (Windows 10 Pro) which has some good and some (surprisingly) awful bits, but so far the most surprising and frustrating is that when I tap the touchpad - which acts as a left click - about 90% of the time the mouse pointer moves a few pixels - maybe 10? - before the click event is registered. This doesn't sound like much, but it makes the touchpad at best incredibly frustrating, and at worst unusable.
To clarify: I'm moving the mouse pointer using the touchpad (which works pretty well). I position the mouse pointer over a clickable item - a link in a web page, the "x" to close a tab, a button, etc. - and then use the single tap motion, which should register the same as the left mouse button below the touchpad. And it does register that left click, but the mouse pointer visibly moves several pixels - most often up, but occasionally left or right or diagonally. As a result, the click event either doesn't register, or more likely the pointer isn't over the clickable component anymore so it's like I clicked above or beside it.
I've spent hours experimenting with this, including going back and forth between the new E7470, my ~4 year old Precision M4700, and Macbook Air, just in case this is something weird about how I tap. No matter how carefully (and unnaturally) I click tap on the E7470, the pointer moves. On the other two laptops the pointer never moves when I tap, and simply registers the tap/click event where... Man this feels weird. I'm usually the one giving help, not asking for it lol.

Computer:

HP Pavilion dv7
Win7 Professional x64

This problem started after I left my computer on sleep for a couple hours. When I woke it up, the touchpad taps and left mouse button clicks brought up the right-click context menu and nothing on the taskbar responded to the cursor hovering over it. Also for some reason pressing the Windows key on the keyboard wouldn't bring up the Start menu. The only way I've found to correct this is to plug in a USB mouse and press the right MB on it. I also was able to fix it one time by uninstalling the Synaptics drivers and letting Windows restart and find the mouse, but after trying to reinstall the Synaptics drivers then uninstalling them again after the problem reappeared this method no longer works. In either case left click functionality is restored but there is no right click functionality period on the touchpad/buttons. However the USB mouse that I plug in works normally. Also after left click is restored, everything on the taskbar and elsewhere responds as it should with the exception of not being able to right click on anything (which sucks in W7). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Synaptics drivers to see if that would fix it but after reinstalling them and restarting, the problem came back. Another thing I've noticed is that even with the Synaptics drivers installed the vertical scroll area doesn't respond.... Read more

Have had Y410p for years without this issue. Now when I move the mouse cursor across the screen, it auto clicks/auto selects (without me tapping or clicking) and then release automatically as well. It will do this continuously as I keep moving the mouse cursor with the Touchpad. This is super annoying and causes multiple issues with my ability do most things on my Lenovo laptop. The two biggest problems are: click buttons which I do not intend and selecting/moving icons & screens which I do not intend. And it makes it nearly impossible to use the laptop for gaming. I have downloaded and reinstalled the Touchpad ELAN driver (version 11.4.17.1 for my O/S Windows 8). I have gone through Mouse Properities setting and ELAN Smart-Pad settings. I have disabled Tapping, but does not make a difference. I have set Sensitivity to max Low and then max High, but does not make a difference. Any ideas on how to solve this particularly annoying Touchpad issue? Help please! Thanks.

A:IdeaPad Touchpad issue with auto-clicking/auto-selecting when moving mouse cursor

Disable TAPPING in the Synaptic control panel. See the screen shot via the Device settings tab and properties. TAPPING is unchecked - a useless feature and a easy way to wreck and operating system and/or loose files. Its far too easy to tap drag and drop a folder or worst without realizing it until its too late. If its a system fie/folder you likely won't boot the next time or you kill an application. I have been diabling this on notebooks for decades. DEADLY feature.

I tried reinstalling the driver from the Dell website and it's still not working properly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi all,X1 Yoga has an issue that makes me really miserable. When I place my finger over the touchpad and then I click on the left touchpad button it prompts the menu of right click.I hope I managed to explain my issue correctly, I can't place my pointer over a text and drag with my finger over the touchpad because it usually prompts the right click menu.It is extremly annoying and makes the touchpad unbearable to use.I would like to completely disable this option. Please help me to stop this irriated behaviour of the touchpad/mouse.

Hi guys,

New here, so I hope I'm not out of line asking for help, and that I'm asking correctly. I've exhausted my own ideas on this but the problem is driving me IN.SANE.

THE ISSUE:
When using an external (USB) mouse with my ASUS Win7 laptop, the mouse randomly lifts up and re-clicks while clicking or while dragging (despite the button remaining consistently depressed), resulting in selection of the wrong objects, inadvertent double-clicks, and incorrect dragging. From what I can tell, this affects only the left click and not the right.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
Laptop touchpad - no problem. Everything works fine with the built-in touchpad.
Another mouse - same problem. These are wired mice, so it's not a battery or connection issue.
Another USB port - same problem in all four. There's no visible issue with the motion of the mouse/cursor, so it seems to be communicating OK via USB.
Safe Mode - no problem, from what I can tell. The wired USB mouse seems to click and drag as normal in Safe Mode.
Mouse Settings - no effect. Adjusting the click/double-click/drag settings doesn't seem to change anything.
System Resources - no effect. Clicking/dragging seems to show the same results in the RAM/CPU monitors whether I'm having the problem (with the mouse) or performing the same actions without the problem (with the trackpad).

WHAT I CANNOT FIGURE OUT:
What haven't I ruled out? What else could be causing the issue?

The problem came on suddenly after about a year, but I... Read more

Hey mate, and welcome,

Possible problem:
1. Mouse itself is bad. Either the button itself or internally
2. Driver is not at its best

Try:
Going to the mouse manufacture website to download the most recent driver for your Windows 7, either 32 or 64 bit. If it doesn't work, try without any driver (so that windows driver takes over).
