USB issues!!

Q: USB issues!!

I've had problems I believe with my usb ports not keeping data, music files on my usb devices. When I copy files over and then disconnect and reconnect device back into port only some files are copied whilst many others are now missing. Can you help me understand why and if this issue can be resolved somehow please??

Preferred Solution: USB issues!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: USB issues!!

Your USB ports on the computer are fine but your USB Device maybe not so much. If your sure these files have finished copying before you disconnect the USB device then if you have a spare one test this and see if the same thing happens. When you plug in your USB device does bring up any error messages or asks you to reformat it?

If you don't have a lot of data (Music, files) then using Onedrive or Google Drives is a preferred way of storing data then USB's. to be honest USB's really are unreliable, if you are using an external hard drive then thats a bit different.

Okay, About three months ago, I got hacked HARD...permissions were changed, administrator rights were removed from my administrator accounts, etc. i was flabbergasted. THe iactually didn't bother me though until I ran a MBAM scan and found 133 viruses and spyware instances on my drive (NOT including tracking cookies!). I cleaned and recleaned, using MBAM, SuperantiSpyware, Avira, running each one in safe mode first, then loading into my normal account and running them, and finally erasing my user account and creating a new one. But even after the new user account was created with Administrator privileges, I still routinely received virus and Malware threat warnign flags from MBAM and Avira. Eventually, Avira and MBAM were disabled and Avira was "deleted" (Windows will not uninstall because the setup.exe file has been 'Changed" and won't reinstall it because I don't have "Administrator privileges" on my Administrator accounts!) even though at startup I receive an error message saying that Avira has been corrupted. The most telling issue is that antivirus and spyware/Malware scans come up clean on Safe mode scans, but using my normal account, the machine reboots. Using Superantispyware I notice that it's always during the memory test that this occurs (and in Safe Mode, it passes through this section with no issue). None of my antivirus programs will download updates, even ones I start manually, and although I have no problem acc... Read more

hi, welcome to TSG.
I don't see anything wrong with your log, except for too many programmes running!
When was the last time you ran disk defragmenter?
you have far too many start up items, use the link below to trim them down.

http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm

Try trunning these tools see if they find anything and ccleaner will get rid of a lot of unnecessary files like temp files etc!
download ccleaner

http://www.ccleaner.com/
* Install CCleaner
* Launch CCleaner and look in the upper right corner and click on the "Options" button.
* Click "Advanced" and remove the check by "Only delete files in Windows temp folders older than 48 hours".
* Click OK
* Do not run CCleaner yet. You will run it later in safe mode.

go to this site and download these tools and once you get both
adaware Se 1.6 and spybot, update both of them.

Set adaware to do a full system scan and deselect, "search for neglible risk
entries". Click next to start the scan. Delete everything adaware finds.

reboot and now run spybot

Spybot: Search and destroy.

Delete what spybot finds marked in red. After updating spybot hit the
immunize button.

reboot again

Go here and download Microsoft Antispyware Beta. First in the top menu click

Hi Experts,

" IPC error: no connection. (SM_RC_ENOCONN)(11)" This dialog box appears twice before control panel displays the list. Please can some one help me resolve it.

Tried the following:
Restor to the date system was working .. But I still have these problems.

Hello,
So, I've got two separate, but somewhat related issues. One has been going on for a year and still hasn't been resolved (posted about it before) but I have some updated info, the other one is new.
AsHere I go ....

1. Can't Connect to the Internet
I all of a sudden could not connect to the internet. As my wireless isn't working currently, I used a wired connection. I am using that wired connection right now on my work computer that I am messaging from, so I know it isn't a modem/router issue. I have removed all the anti-spyware that I had and only installed Avast!, I re-installed all the drivers, and I contacted my internet provider. In troubleshooting with the internet provider, we tested the ping for www.google.com, which didn't work, but when we pinged the numerical ip address, it did. The same thing happened when I opened my browser. The representative said that the IP address was not being resolved by the DNS (is that correct)??? Anyways, that's where I am at - how do I resolve it so that the IP address is resolved?

2. First, for some extra background, please see the thread from a year ago that I had posted:
http://forums.techguy.org/networking/663585-wireless-issues.html
Here's what I posted initially before:
I have a Compaq Presario R3440CA with a Broadcom Wireless card. I used to be able to connect to my wireless just fine. Now when I try to 'Find network connections', the error comes up as follows:

Dell XPS 1330 running windows vista 64 bit, 4 g ram, (supposed to be) 320 g harddrive

Oooooooooookkkaaaayy.... well. This is probably all my fault really. I thought I could fix stuff.... turns out I dont actually know what I'm doing and I think I may have made things worse....To start from the begining- In general, I have an issue with the hard drive... When I remove stuff, the hard drive adds gigabytes rather than removing them. It says something like '213 gbs out of 293' and and when I started I KNOW there was way more than that and I've uninstalled all the programs I added (Long story) and cleaned out the hidden files so I know for a fact there is nothing there to take up the space. I want my memory back, grrrar. Anyway...

So I was going through my control panel and deleting bloatware, you know stuff the laptop came with that I dont really need, trying to figure out the affor mentioned problem of memory adding instead of lessening and I removed this thing called 'Microsoft Games for Windows LIVE redistributeable' thinking Oh, thats just some app trying to get me to use games I dont need, lets get rid of it. BIG mistake. After that my games (Fallout 3 and oblivion, to be specific) had issues. Fallout wouldn't start, something about 'xlive.ddl' which I figured must have something to do with the microsoft games whatsit and oblivion seemed to be fine but I decided to uninstall it (just...don't ask....) and I started getting this error- setupdll/setupdll.cpp (390) PAPP:Oblivi... I have two annoying issues with my new ThinkPad X1 Tablet (Model: 20JB001DGE, running Windows 10 Pro, Build: 1709; 16299.371): When trying to create a new folder on a network share on my Synology NAS I get the error message:If I click 'Try Again' the message remains. When 'Cancel' is clicked I got the new folder with the default name 'New Folder'.Sometimes this also happens when renaming a folder or file. The only way to get rid of it, is restarting the tablet.I have already been in contact with the Synology Support. They checked the NAS, which seems to be okay. This can be confirmed by using another Windows tablet with the same Win 10 build, which can access the NAS shares and create folder without any issues.I also contacted the Microsoft Support. They adviced me to disable all non-Windows services and all auto start items.I uninstalled my Antivirus and Firewall-Tool Avast Premier, using Windows Defender only now.We also tried out different SMB configurations. (activating SMB v1 only on both NAS an PC vs. SMB v2/3, which is the recommended and more secure configuration.)Nothing of this helped so far.The tablet is connected to the DVI port of a monitor via the USB 3 Ultra Dock.Every once in a while some items are displayed larger than normal or seem blurred, for example when opening windows explorer. This screenshot should illustrate the difference. HiJackThis Trend Micro Found 04 & 017 Issues-Please Help Remove Issues

Cant remove, issues reappear often, cannot get into Google.com or known sights that would be obviously safe to surf within them such as foxnews.com and other pages take forever to load or do not load at all, just plain old frustrating, java is messed and files temp downloaded from Java cannot be deleted when performing a disk cleanup, along with ipod/ ishuffle and all Apple software no longer working, so I cannot use iTunes to load songs on to them etc and I had issues deleting AVG7/ Grisoft but I finally did it via Hijack this, using OneCare which is awful, Windows XP Home SP3, I have two logs to post or forward but I was advised not to post the logs before someone asks me to, please let me know ASAP, I believe I have a serious infection, so much so that my hotmail account was hijacked a month ago so I had to change my password and the person used to send medical spam emails to many comcast.com subscribers and God only knows if he/she has stolen any of my personal and confidential information. Also bytes received are so much larger than bytes sent example rcvd 5 million (5,000,000) sent 4 hundred thousand (400,000). Please advise, I am unsure if I can give you my hotmail account via this posting or the log files pertaining to the exact issues for I am new on this site. Also if I have posted in the wrong location please help me post in the proper location. Thanks in advance.

Ok well it has been a while since I posted requesting help in here. I suppose that could be considered a good thing... Anyway I checked the "Preparation Guide For Use Before Using HijackThis and Other Malware Removal Tools" thread just to double check the proper way to post in here and noticed you guys mention to use a program called "DDS". I have never used this in the past, I have always only used HijackThis but I will, for the sake of covering all my bases, included both the DDS files and the HijackThis report.Ok on to the problem at hand. I will list the problems as I remember them in the order of when they happened (hopefully, knowing my memory...) starting with the more recent problems. (1.) What has happened recently is I have noticed that my processor has been maxing out at 100% doing things that would normally not require more than maybe 20% of the processor. (2.) I have recently done some fairly major creation/deletion/moving of files in hopes of lowering the amount of junk on my computer. I have also run a defragmentation on my hard drive but it is hard to tell if it really worked because whereas in Windows XP the disk defragmentation tool gave you the ability to analyze your hard drive and then actually watch the progress as it defragmented the hard drive, Windows Vista only gives you the ability to "Defragment Now" and then all you can do to tell whether or not it is done is to stare at the little 'Vista ... Hi, I have posted before about 4 months or so ago but I am still having problems getting rid of Roxio creative suite from my computer. When I run programs like spyware blaster and a MP3 converter program I get the loading screen for roxio saying it is going to load and then it fails. It is really a pain to always have to deal with. Plus as of recently I am unable to load Nero 8 fully on my computer without errors. I tried the demo but when I uninstalled it and tried to load Nero 8 again it would not work, there are some files missing I guess like DXbridge, Audio wave effects and one other one. I tried another install of Nero 8 and omitted the wave editor and some other features and it did load but now I get a server busy error (switch to or retry), when I try to make a cd/dvd. I can press retry multiple times and it will work but not without the the hastle!! Please can someone help me!! I have attached my hijackthis and dss log. I tried attaching the extra.txt log but it seems to fail!!

Okay, so I've been having some annoying issues on my computer, nothing serious yet but some are concerning. Feel free to ask for more info if needed.

Issue 1: I've had some jerkiness/lag and loading issues for some of the games I play, particularly Blizzard games (all of which should be well within system specs). The prime examples:

--> When I play Overwatch, sometimes character models/audio/sprays/projectiles take FOREVER to load for the first game I play after launching the program. All player models are essentially invisible, including my own (don't see the character's weapon or even HUD), and if I fire my weapon while invisible the map will react (breakable objects break), but all of the effects are invisible (if I fire a rocket, for instance, the rocket and explosion are invisible). I can still see usernames above allied players, but enemies are completely invisible. Models load at different rates (so one hero's model might load after a few seconds while the rest take minutes, for instance), any sprays just appear as the default spray (if they appear at all), and voice lines don't work. This has lasted for an entire round before, and when that happens the "play of the game" clip will often have invisible characters in it, even if they've loaded fully by the end of the round. Additionally, even once most/all assets are loaded, if I die and respawn there is a period (several seconds) where the screen is completely black even though my character is ... Read more

I have recently upgraded from XP to Win 7 and I have encountered so my problems I've lost count...

However, I work from home and I need to get these issues worked out NOW...

So, I am DESPERATE for answers...

1. Main problem: I have done a full system index 273,852 files and 2 days later and my search still doesn't work. Files I know are there aren't showing up and now it's not working at all. I've had several error message, but the latest is search:query= Windows cannot find 'search:query...

2. When on certain screens, my monitor flashes/blinks and it is driving me nuts. I've read threads where the screen fades to black and back and mine is NOT doing that. It just blinks like you're blinking your eyes.

3. When using Chrome everything seems to be loading very slowly. For instance, when I click on Google or a new tab and start typing it takes a while to see the text where this didn't happen before.

I know each one of these issues probably belongs in a different section of the forum, but I'm desperate to get them fixed and QUICK, so PLEASE HELP!!!!! I'm pulling my hair out!!!

Hello all,

I currently have a Dell computer given to me by my old employer that is running into validation/registry issues. The computer is now at my new employer since it was faster than what they originally had for me. I am assuming the computer originally had a KMS activated copy of Windows 7 Enterprise but I can't be sure. I first noticed issued awhile ago when a dialogue box saying something on the lines of I could be a victim of software piracy or something. I just closed it out and didn't pay much attention to it.

I then tried to download Microsoft Visual C++ as a program requested that I do so and I got the 0x80070005 - Access is denied error. I've researched and a bit and even bought a new copy (with CD) of Windows 7 Pro. I was a fool and thought I could just plug in the new key and it would be fine. I've tried the whole SubInACL deal and got errors so I'm not sure what I should do next.

I could do a fresh install but 1. This is now my primary work computer so I don't want to lose anything. I am somewhat scared of doing a fresh install, a restore, etc. I honestly don't know the difference all that well.

I also forgot to mention I have the original CoA and I will give that information now:
Windows 7 Pro OA
X16-96076

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi all,
Going to try and make this brief, "try" being the operative word here..

I have a Gateway PC running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
4 gigs of ram but obviously not all useable (yet)
Dual core processor
Nvidia 9800GT graphics Card
Corsair 650 watt PSU
HT Omega Striker 7.1 Souncard..

Kaspersky Internet Security 2012
Nvidia 280.65 driver (latest)

Basically have done a lot of upgrades on this PC with the exception of the motherboard and CPU.

Two days ago I noticed when I log into my PC, it will boot up, however shortly after, programs will begin to stop responding. Sometimes the PC will boot into a black screen, other times I get to the desktop and the taskbar clocks and just does not work, then other times as stated, will boot up, work for about 15 to 30 minutes until explorer stops responding and ultimately, everything else I try to use.

Here are some behaviors I noticed:Is probably not hardware related as safe mode does work as should no matter how long I use it
Could not install programs - when trying, would freeze or fail (in reg desktop)
One weird thing I noticed is that the hard drive activity LED will start doing a repetitive pattern when the system begins to freeze... it will light up for 3 to 4 seconds to show activity, then blink on and off, then light again for the same time, then blink.. same exact pattern over and over again.. all the while you can hear the drive making the same noise, almost as thought its "skipping" (again, safe m... Try working through these troubleshooting steps to utilize the logs and System Resources to find clues, clear all hardware.

There are other tools listed which may help working up to a Repair Install as a last resort before Reinstalling Windows 7 to get a perfect clean baseline reinstall which should solve anything not hardware related.

Ever since I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10, this SoftThinks Agent Service is taxing my HDD to 100% slowing things down.
This is related to Dell Backup and Recovery software. I can kill this service and that's that but every-time I start up, this happens.
As for sleep mode, I will come back to my laptop and raise the lid, hit the keys, move the mouse, nothing. I hit the power button and nothing. So I hold the power button and then hit it to boot up, so clearly there are issues in relation to sleep mode and something shutting it off. (others have posted the same)
I installed all newest Intel drivers on your site and I read 1 user stated to uninstall Intel Rapid Storage, which I did. Intel Management Engine remains as I am still trying to troubleshoot. Are you testing all these new drivers you are putting out for download? Do I need to go back to Win8.1, your site said my laptop could be upgraded.
Please advise and "do the needful".

same thing here as far as the power issues. you must remove the 2 other intel things that were installed along with the Intel rapid storage
intel security assist
intel management engine something or other (cant remember the exact name)
i still have the intel graphics and chipset drivers installed without any problems. it was just the intel rapid storage stuff that caused all the power , sleep mode problems..

Hello all,

I've been experiencing some strange issues that lead me to believe I may have some sort of infection. Here are the symptom's I'm seeing:

Last night my network was having many, many network issues. I logged into my router and saw that my computer had 400 active connections. I was able to get it down by shutting down applications such as Chrome, Netflix, Spotify, Blizzard Battle.Net, instant messenger, Steam, and Origins. I ended up shutting my computer down and decided to look again in the morning.
With the issues going on, web site access was happening very intermittently.
When I got on my PC to see what the problem was I had a notice that the Origin client (EA game client) couldn't log on because it was logged on in another location. I've only got it installed on this computer.
After the PC was shut down I reset my router and modem and connection seemed to be going fine.
I woke up this morning and checked me email on my phone and found a message saying that my twitter password had been changed. I fired up my twitter app and was still able to connect. I went to twitter to try and force a log on and was able to connect with my old password. I looked through my feed an saw that my account had sent out about 20 spam messages in the middle of the night. I changed my password to be safe, but who knows if that'll do anything.
Anyway, I'm really worried something is going on. Can someone help me out?

On my laptop which is now about 6 years old I have been experiencing a few issues. First as the laptop is so old it has seen its fair amount of system restores but one thing I have been noticing is that my hard drive space is disappearing. The laptop started with 160gb (shows how old it is) split 80gb between the different partitions but now it only has 69.5gb per partition, so does anyone have any clue how to restore the space?

The second problem I am having is with installing my printers, I have successfully installed two wireless printers on my desktop pc but when it comes to connecting to the printer I must first setup a temporary link with a usb to one of the printers but when I connect them together it does not pick it up. But if I plug other devices in then run fine, anyone got any ideas?

The last issue I am having seems to be some sort of autorun problem, for example when I insert a install disc the autorun box pops up but does not display the install and I only have the option the view all of the files so I have to find the setup application within the disc myself. Any ideas?

I know I am asking about a lot of issues but any help is appreciated.

Greetings, I just switched my main computer from XP Pro to (in a different HD) Vista 64.
One of the reasons for the switch was that I had purchased the computer with 8GB of RAM and I wanted to see what kind of performance I could get from it.

These are my specs:
Computer Systemax
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz (2397 MHz)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista x64
8GB of RAM (4 when I extracted these specs - I was testing to see performance)
DirectX version: 10.0

Realtek Winfast PX8600 GT HDMI(NVIDIA)
GPU processor: GeForce 8600 GT
ForceWare version: 162.22
Total av. graphics mem.:2014 MB
Dedicated video memory: 256 MB

As far as the performance issue, I am afraid I am not seeing a definite increase in performnce comparable to the XP Pro installation with just 4GB (3.25 to be exact, due to XP utilization of memory)

I am starting to woonder if there is something I can do to increase the system performance otehr than the obvious (Take out Aero, etc.) It's not the the computer is slow in handling programs, but some interface activities, such as opening and closing folders and windows, launching programs, etc. Are as fast or slower than on the XP OS.

Most recent problem:

It's actually hard to explain precisely what is going on, but I'll try my best.

Performance is an elusive issue in higher end computers such as yours.First tho' - Most likely your graphics drivers are a tad bit corrupted, and the following will help to update them:Download the latest forceware drivers for your OS and video card (according to what I read, these are the most current: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_169.25_whql.html )Uninstall the nVidia stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program.Uninstall the video card from Device Manager (go to Start and type in "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter)Reboot and dismiss any "Found New Hardware" dialogs.Double click on the freshly downloaded drivers and follow the prompts. In most computers the big 3 performance issues are:- the hard drive- the RAM- the CPUSo, that's the first place to check. Luckily Vista has a number of tools to help with this. The first is Task Manger (right click on the Task Bar and select "Task Manager". Scroll through the tabs to see what's going on inside of your system.Next, go to Start and type in "compmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then start looking at this stuff (it's listed in the left hand pane):- Event Viewer...Windows Logs...both the Application and System logs- Reliability and Performance...Monitoring Tools...both the Performance and the Reliability monitors- Device Manager- Disk Management- Services and Applications...ServicesWhat are you looking for? I do have some graphical issues in video games. Such as in Dota II. Some characters will be missing some of their graphics. For instance a character model will not have his Hat on or have a weapon. Any help will be appreciated.

A:Weird Internet browser issues and graphical issues

IE10 in Win 7 has turned out to be a bit of a Pandora's Box with Flashplayer and Shockwave problems - not sure if it could also include Silverlight as well.

You could try uninstalling/reinstalling those to see if that improves or try the sites in Firefox.

Create a restore point before you uninstall Shockwave though because I've had a H of a problem with that in IE for it to include the ActiveX Control add-ons on the reinstall.

You could also see if they view okay in Safe Mode etc.

If they do then that could point to a graphics driver problem, but I think it's the media that's probably causing this problem.

You could also download Speccy or HW Monitor to see if it's an overheating issue to be on the safe side.

About a month ago my hard drive froze up and I replaced it with a Western Digital Caviar Black 500 gb Sata drive. I used an external USB hard drive enclosure to remove files etc, the old hard drive still worked, just wouldn't boot the OS. Well since then I had problems with boot up. At first it was just that restart wouldn't work out of Windows XP. The motherboard would beep, display it's identity and stop. Sometimes it would stop after detecting the CPU and the memory but not continue on to even look for the Hard drive or anyother bootable device. Now it takes two, three, sometimes four tries to get it to proceed to detect the hard drives and occasionally freezes on the Welcome screen to XP. When I check the event viewer it seems to get into loops of security checks, running the same one over and over. The last time I checked the System events, it showed none prior to the current boot up. I am also getting hard drive errors. No bad sectors, just corrupted files and messed up index entries.

Hi, I hope someone can help me

Over the last few months I have been having intermittent problems watching Netflix on my Roku media streamer. (I could listen to the radio on there all day no issue). If I try and watch anything, after a short while it cuts out and the Roku has been disconnected from the Wireless Connection. I connect it again and I can watch some more Netflix... sometimes this happens 5+ times in one episode. Occasionally I get to watch a whole episode.

I spoke to tech support at Roku and was told to assign a DNS on my internet provider, they gave me the details and I got a tech minded friend to do it. Didn't help.

Another problem is my router will restart its self at least a couple of times a week. First off my laptop is unable to connect to the internet, then the router restarts and takes ages to connect to the internet again.

I spoke to talktalk tonight and apparently my connection is running a little slow, they have ''refreshed the connection'' and I've to keep an eye on it over the next couple of days and get back in touch with them if it persists.
I just feel like I need some (or a lot) more info on what I think I am talking about because I have no idea if they are just messing me around. I can't connect my Roku to the router with a wire it is wireless only. I don't have an ethernet cable to connect my laptop to the router either.

I dont know if you could offer some help, i have been having allot of problems with my acer aspire 5738Z recently. I think the issues are with vista itself but i may be wrong. i will list the issues bellow.
1. It doesnt like going into sleep or hybernate, 9-10 times it will jam and i have to hold the power button to turn it off then restart it. this happens if i let it reach the time its set to sleep aswell.
2. Whenever the first problem happens and it jams, it wipes all of the passwords and usernames from forums and login pages etc ?
3. Today the scroll part of the touchpad has stopped allowing it to scroll, it just moves the mouse around but wont scroll at all. ? i did a bit of research into it and some people say you can change the sensativity with the button that should be in the taskbar, but my button isnt there even when i tell it to show all the time ?

Sorry again if this is in the wrong section. just so much problems i havent a clue where to start. Maybe somone could shed some light on it. Hopfully its something i can do myself.
I have read about driver updates etc but i was a bit cautious to do that as i havent done it before.
Thanks in advance

Hi there,

This is my second computer that I am having problems with. This computer seemingly has more of an issue than my other computer in that I cannot run the GMER program at all, I can't run the DDS application (it freezes my computer everytime). The only thing I can do is run the defogger.

There is some kind of worm/virus/malware that is causing my system to run inefficiently and with such poor performance as the computer just started acting up. I checked my PC usage and it was at 100% which is extrememly abnormal. Also anytime I open internet explorer, it freezes and has to be shut down and reopened, just for the same thing to happen. (Same with Chrome)

I don't know what to do since the DDS freezes everytime I try to run it, the black screen appearing to be working but never producing any logs and freezing the computer....and the GMER isn't working either. I am typing this from my other computer because the infected PC has the above mentioned browser/internet issues.

I ran antimalware bytes and it said there were no infections found, I'll include the log, also I have AVG2011 for my antivirus. It is noteworthy to say that the desktop Icons are present but do NOT work, I can't click them half the time...I'll have to use the start, computer etc. buttons to get to use the shortcuts.

Please post ANY help, it is greatly appreciated.

I reformatted my computer because after installing service pack 1 and other updates from Feb 14th my computer has been having issues getting a dhcp from my router. I have a windows 7 home premium 32 bit laptop that works just fine. I also have a ubuntu machine that pulls an address from this router and an xbox 360. From what I've read other places online it appears this is a bug with dhcp that appears some time around windows 7 service pack 1 x64. Is this update the one causing issues with the dhcp problems I'm having? Should I uninstall service pack 1 or reformat and not let windows install this? I'm a little confused as to what this problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A:Dhcp issues and network connectivity issues since windows 7 x64 sp1

I've never heard of a service pack creating a DHCP problem.

You might want to try resetting your router either by pushing in the reset button "hold in for ten seconds" or you can reset the router from the router's service page or unplug the router for ten minutes then plug it back in again.

Just because other machines can pick up the DHCP address doesn't mean it's working correctly for all machines. Routers can limp along sometimes but the functionality becomes erratic until you reset them.

Or you can try using the ipconfig commands, such as the ones outlined in the link below.
ipconfig - Windows Command Line Utility

Some further readings on this subject, along the included links, are as follows: "File-Sharing, otherwise known as Peer To Peer" and "Risks of File-Sharing Technology."Removal InstructionsYou computer is infected with at least a trojan DNS-Changer.Empty all p2p download folders. OK so my computer is acting up. Two weeks ago while browsing suddenly i get error messages concerning dns failed something probe. Ever since, when i open a new link it takes almost 20-30 seconds to open the page...

When i want to view a new video on youtube, it takes alot of time concidering i have 75/75 up/down

Its not the download speed, once i get a connection it works fast, but still not as normal.

Also now ive started getting sound stuttering/lag in the video.

Today even the mouse curser lags behind the movement of my mouse and then quickly squirms around the screen catching up all the movement i did.

Does this have something to do with my SSD starting to fail?

Is there some virus hijacking my resources?

Are my drivers bad?

A:Stuttering, performance issues, internett connection issues

Hello and Welcome ..

Does this have something to do with my SSD starting to fail?
Is there some virus hijacking my resources?
Are my drivers bad?

We can try to briefly check these with the following methods, or use stronger programs if required..

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. This gives a preliminary reading, and clears your Antivirus/Antimalware programs.
You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/
iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Windows Vista, 7 or 8 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash for a minute or so, and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
Do not reboot until you run the next few tools.
If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.
When the scan is done Notepad will open with Rkill log.
Post it in your next reply.
NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L305, running Vista SP1, that locks up and freezes at random time intervals from the time the computer connects to the internet.

I have run multiple virus scans using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, in both Normal and Safe modes that have determined that the system is indeed clean of malware.

I believe the Network Adapters are the cause for the system freezing based on information found after running ipconfig /all. There are multiple Adapters that, based on internet searches, have something to do with the iP6 protocol.

Also, it is worth noting that there is an issue with the Device Manager. The Device Manager will not allow me to view Properties on any of the installed devices.
Subsequently, I can't uninstall the network devices for Windows to re-install to 'reset' the network settings.

* sigh*

Any help anyone would have would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all,

It's my first post here, so I'll try to be as helpful in my explanations as possible.

Basically I'm running Windows 10 64-bit (free download version) and am trying to use my HTC ONE (m7) with Trinus VR. For the least latency I'm trying to use it through USB tethering. The problem is that my computer keeps dropping and reconnecting to the phone. Plus, even though the phone's USB tethering is on, I'm not getting a 'tethering' connection (only able to explore the file structure).

Now, as far I can tell, according to a google search, most of the problem comes down to the Microsoft USB drivers(? need confirmation on this). I've changed my power options and disabled the "USB selective suspend setting", I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the HTC Sync and HTC SyncManager software AND uninstalled all of the USB devices in the Device Manager.

It will still, on occasion, go through a cycling disconnect and reconnect pattern.

Do you ladies and gentleman have any more ideas that I can try?

Many thanks for reading this far, I appreciate ANY help or advice that you can give. THANKS!

Hi, I am looking for a bit of advice if possible. I really don't know what to call my problems, and I don't know if its related to my laptop, or the upgrade.

Firstly, when dragging an internet page up or down, using the mouse pad (buttons work fine), the bar doesn't release for a second or so. I know this may not sound bad, but as I move to click something or whatever, it moves my page all over as it still thinks I am dragging the page, so any help on that would be great.

Also, when I search on the internet, through google or whatever, a lot of the time, when I type, once I look what I have typed, the first letter is always at the end of the sentence, so again, any assistance on that would be great.

I am using a samsung laptop, although I can't see that being the problem, as these issues didn't happen while on windows 7

Thanks

It appears your Mouse Setting have Click Lock enabled...

go into control panel > mouse setting > and verify click lock is off..

Also a lot of times you can enable click-lock by clicking the center wheel of the mouse

Toshiba Satellite A205 laptop running Vista Home PremiumVista seemed to be loading okay, but a lot of applications would not start. Some would, but trying to open device manager, malware bytes, and some other programs or tools would not work. I'd double click and the system would just sit there as if I did nothing. Loading into Safe Mode with Networking works fine and that's where I'm having to run programs and such.I ran Spybot and Malware Bytes and got a few things that I cleaned. After cleaning those, now regular booting loads Vista fine, I login, but then just get a black screen with nothing.I have no previous backups or images to load from. Startup repair is finding no problems. This is my sister's computer and I'm waiting on her to mail me her recovery disks. I have 2 pc's networked at my house using a broadband connection with a Netgear RP114/4 port router. The problem I am having with Age of Mythology(and all my games for that matter) is nobody outside my network can access my home pc's. My home pc's can game together with no problem. What I am trying to do is "host" a game using 1 of my 2 pc's and have other people connect to me. Netgear tech support is worthless and they keep giving me a guy who hardly speaks english and reads off Que cards. They keep telling me I need to turn on port forwarding and that I have to contact the game manufacturer to get those numbers and after all that only 1 of my 2 pc's can be accessed. There has got to be a way I can "host" a game from my house and have people connect to me. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

HI,
MY COMPUTER HAS A FILE THAT CAUSES IT TO RESPOND SLOW AND IT STARTS UP WHEN I TURN ON MY COMPUTER. EVERYTIME I DELETE THE FILE OR AT LEAST THINK I AM FROM REGISTRY AND MY WINDOWS SYSTEM 32 FILE FOLDER IT WILL REPLACE ITSELF WITH OTHER NAMES...(EX. OF NAMES: razadupe.dll, wegetezi.dll, fopihopu.dll, yovalano.dll, modubelo.dll wijayiji.dll and etc.) right now i think its jomopive.dll and wazupafu.dll. i run AVG 8.5 and Norton antivirus and it will catch them and as mentioned the file name replaces with another name and will start up on my restarts. if i run a scan on the files directly no virus is found. i also receive a security system virus alert and my screen turns blue. it will not allow me to open task mgr or run files or any virus files. i find the process file which are usually numeric and stop it in task mgr then i delete file and it will stop but a few days later it will show up with another security program and file name and i try the whole thing over but its never ending. this time the file is 10422504, i think. My IE also runs slow on pulling up the page like 20min or more and also when searching the info takes a super long time and sometimes it will pull up like 30 plus IE screens at once on its own telling me page cannot be found....
i do not know what to do?

I'm not sure if this is all part of the same problem but there are multiple things going on. On my laptop ( its an HP Pavilion DV6, with an intel core i3 CPU @ 2.20ghz, & 64 but operating system ) The only way i can get any sound to play is if I watch videos in my firefox browser. No sound will play when i use Chrome (which I prefer) or Itunes, or windows media player. The problem with watching videos in firefox is that there is about a 20 second delay before the video will play, and an error comes up to stop the plug in or continue. If you close out of that box the video will play but you will get the same delay every time it is paused and started again. Browsing in Chrome and playing videos from that browser there is absolutely no lag, its lightening fast, but you will not get any sound. Other simple programs ( Like solitaire) have the same lag, each card you click takes about 20 seconds for the move to actually take place. I've tried messing with my sound drivers to correct the audio issues but I am not sure if it is an audio issue, a flash player issue, or a combination. Any input?
