HID - Compliant Touch Screen (Driver Missing)

Q: HID - Compliant Touch Screen (Driver Missing)

After an update from Windows 8 to Windows 10, my touch screen stopped working. Clearly this is a very common problem that has afflicted countless Windows users who did the same thing. Does HP have a solution for reinstalling HID- Compliant Touch Screen driver? There's tons of reported fixes on the Internet but the few that looked reasonably safe to me, haven't worked and "HID - Complaint Touch Screen" is no where to be found in Device Manager as it used to be. On a side note, I have another identical HP notebook that survived the upgrade and works fine. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. TIA

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Got this notebook two days ago and tried to use the tablet mode. I realized that the touch screen wasn't working and went to check the device manager only to find out that the HID compliant touch screen driver is missing. While checking, I noticed that Wacom device driver also could not start as well (Code 10). Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? I really would like to use the tablet mode of this laptop instead of having to return it due to the touch screen not working.

The two HID compliant touchscreen devices were not working on my Thinkpad X1 Yoga - investigation showed that they were not connected to the hardware. So, I uninstalled both devices - thinking that Windows would fix this at the next update. No dice. 1) How do I reinstall the HID compliant touchscreen devices?2) How then do I enable them so they are connected to the hardware? Thanks! -Scot

A:HID-compliant touch screen device missing

Hi friendsStep 1. The first, you need to check if your Touchscreen has been disabled or the drivers need to be installedStep 2. In Device Manager, check the Compliant Touch screen settingsStep 3. Type in Device Manager in the search box, press enterStep 4. when it appears as an option then click Device Manager. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.Step 5. Now Device manager window will appear.Step 6. Scroll down to HID and expand tree by clicking on arrow head to the left of HID. If there is a red cross next to the entry, right click on it and select the enable option.

Hello.  My touch screen stopped working. I followed all directions from HP Support.  The HID Compliant Touch Screen Driver was found under Device Manager, Human Interface Devices however, would not allow me to enable.  I then uninstalled it and now I cannot find the driver listed uner HID even when I click on "show hidden devices". I have been researching to find an answer on how to reinstall the HID Compliant Touch Screen Driver but cannot find a clear answwer that I have not already tried.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Instead I opted for fresh install of Windows 10 Home from USB.  I installed as many drivers as needed (copied from the Lenovo partition).  The computer is running fine except there is no HID-compliant touch screen device in Device Manager any  Therefore, the touch screen no longer works. I'm out of warranty and cannot find an appropriate driver to enable this much needed feature again.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I have two identical HP notebooks that went through the Windows 8.1 'update' to Windows 10.  Oh, how I wish I still had 8.1  :-) Anyway - one made the migration fine and on the other one, the Touch Screen quit working and hasn't worked since.  Going to Device Manager, the driver is gone unless you click to see 'hidden' in which case, it's there albeit grayed out and unusable. From what I've read on the Internet, this problem is almost chronic and lots of people have noted the same problem.  Hopefully HP and Microsoft find a solution soon and if I'd known I'd lose something like this, would have stayed with Windows 8.1. I've tried uninstalling the gray version, tried the HP assistant but didn't want to risk allowing some of the drivers to update, and a couple of other things I've seen on the net but so far, no luck.  I also tried a 3rd party driver from a thread I'd seen on the Lenovo site but it turned out not to be for Windows 10 and wouldn't run properly, have tried updating the drivers individually and manually but so far, nada.  HELP HP.  I'll pay for you to hook up to my computer and fix the problem - just show me the link and how much?  TIA

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to  show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. I have been researching this for hours and have not found and answer. Help please!

I don't know how many more ways I can google/lenovo search for a solution, so here is my final attempt. I have had this laptop for years. I have had no issue following the immediate upgrade to windows 10.Some time in 2017 (long after the windows 10 upgrade) my touch screen stopped working. This Laptop, Lenovo Yoga 3-1470, Machine Type Model 80JH000PUS , Windows 10 64x, now says there is no Pen & Touch Input for this display. Which is CRAP because I had pen and touch/touch screen for YEARS. Now. Look at the photo above. I have it set to view all hidden drivers/devices. The HID Compliant Driver is GONE. Its not disabled. I didn't uninstall and try to reboot my computer so it forced a re-installation, it is just GONE. I've reset my computer from scratch 6 times now and it solves nothing. I've tried installing some of the touch screen drivers already on the lenovo website but they fail because the "target could not be found".  Am I just out of luck from this point forward? Is there ANYTHING that can be done here??? Please. Help. Me. Still out of warrenty. Cant contatct lenovo support.

I have a yoga 700 and the  HID compliant touch screen driver is completely gone. From what I understand this is something that has been happening to people using Lenovo laptops/tablets in the last year. I'm sure the only fix is to be shown where to actually re-download the driver. I have gone into device manager and have searched though all of the possible drivers I could find manually. I'm really upset that my lenovo is no longer a touch screen, it's why I bought it to begin with. Does Lenovo actually have a driver it can give it's customers? It's been over a year and most people who have had this problem STILL have it. Please help.

I can manage to get into device manager and 1) disable HID-compliant devices (9) and HID compliant consumer control devices (2) and the touch bubbles go away. However if I reboot the bubbles come back as the system somehow auto fixes itself.
I'm not sure if its a default program installed or what so whatever suggestions or help you guys can offer would be awesome!

Hello,
I have a problem with the new build, PC doesn't wake up from sleep,
I tried everything you can possibly think about and I narrowed it down to
my last chance: in device manager I see un unknown device,
is the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System driver that is missing.

I tried downloading the Asus (mobo is Asus H81M-K) ATK pack which should've been
enough to fix it but it didn't the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System driver is missing,
hence my question:

where can I find Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System driver for Windows 7 64 bit?
Windows auto search for drivers didn't find it, Intel Driver utility didn't find it either
So I'm lost

everything I read redirect to problems with laptops and they all have their fix
on the manufacturer site, but this is a desktop and so...

any help will be much appreciated.
thank you!

Hi: I have zipped up and attached the driver you need below. Download and unzip the file to its folder.  Do not do anything with the files in the folder. Go to the device manager and click on the ASD device needing the driver. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder you unzipped. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install. Then reboot.

I have a hp pavilion touchsmart 15-n029so. Unfortunately my touch screen is defect, so 5-6 points on the screen is constant active. Until recently I managed to disable the driver for only the touch driver (not the screen) through device manager, but then a lately update for windows 10 activated the driver again. So now the 5-6 points is constant active, and I cannot login because the screen will not focus on the login field.  This means I cannot login to windows 10. I have also tried to start safe mode (turning off computer repeatly, so it starts up in safe mode), but here the touch screen driver is also active.  How can I disable the touch screen driver without login into windows 10?

A:Touch not working missing driver

Hello Kaytasia, The touch is dependent on the hardware and the drivers are generic.  1. Open device manager2. HID devices drop down3. Check for hid touch screen driver. 4. Now, if the driver not available, ( under the view tab of device manager, click show hidden devices)5. If the HID touch driver is greyed out on list, right click and uninstall it. 6. Restart the system. Now, if the touch does not work, HP recommends system recovery.  Steps will be  :1) Turn off and then turn on the computer and repeatedly keep tapping the F11 key, about once every second, until the first screen appears, then follow these instructions: ****Note ( check if the touch works for any of these options ,on the f11 screen) If the touch does not work, contact the HP support at  : http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA3G42 Number : 1800-474-6836    2) "Choose an Option" screen appears. >Click Troubleshoot.3) On the Troubleshoot screen, click Recovery Manager. Recovery Manager opens.4) On the OS selection screen, click your operating system windows 10.Recovery Manager opens5)Under "I need help immediately" , click System Recovery /or/Minimize image recovery6) When System Recovery prompts you to back up your files. If you have already backed up personal files or you do not want to back up personal files, select Recover without backing up your files, then click Next. I've read through numerous posts where users report touch screen functionality not working on the 11e. Most are able to run troubleshooting or find & fix, or enable or update the driver within device manager. I've either exhausted or am unable to attempt all of the troubleshooting steps I've found thus far. The touch driver is nowhere to be found, after updating NETWORK drivers.. not sure what the heck happened there, but the touch driver is definitely gone now, and it's not just hidden. Anyone know where I can download the driver itself? I've checked Microsoft's website, which basically says to download from the manufacturer, and I don't see any touch drivers on Lenovo's webiste at all. My Notebook is out of warranty as well, and unless I'm doing something wrong, I can't seem to even contact Lenovo support without going through some third party BS which I'd be billed for anyway. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I installed Windows Updates about a week ago. After my laptop restarted following the download the touch screen stopped working.  I followed the Troubleshooting instruction which seemed to be on track, until it said to uninstall the driver then restart the PC to force the touchscreen to reinstall.  There was no touchscreen driver to Uninstall and restarting the computer didn't force one to appear.  I think I might need to reinstall the driver, but I don't know what driver I had in the first place or where to install it. I called Microsoft support and they informed me I would need to reinstall the driver from HP.  Problem is, that I don't know where the driver is located.
