I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

Are you trying those keys on startup or on restart?  If you've only tried on startup,  try on restart - or on startup after a full shutdown (SHIFT + shut down).

You could also try the advanced startup options from within windows.

I doubt there are any fixes and these are mostly observations, but here goes: 1. The other day, I had screen flashes for a couple hours in the middle of the day. Hello. I recently installed a Samsung 950 Pro in the P50.After some problems during the installation it seems to work fine, but.... The 950 pro supports AES Hardware encryption (Advanced Encryption Standard, Class0 SED).I also was able to use it with a normal SSD before. After I installed the 950 NVMe, the option for setting a harddrive Password inside the BIOS just vanished.  am not able to set any harddrive passwort and thus use encryption. Every other PW seems to work fine...I would like to ask why that happened there and I hope that some of you may be able to help me with that. Thank you very much,Greetz

A:Thinpad P50, Samsung 950 pro and password security

While 950 Pro presumably supports AES on hardware level (i.e. all data is encrypted prior being written on the flash chips), key management is still "to be supported by FW update" ( http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/ssd950pro/specificatio... ) If you want to encrypt your 950Pro, use Bitlocker or other third-party encryption solution. There is a performance and SSD wear cost associated with that, but it's negligible for most applications.

Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga (model year 2014-2015) gives sometimes a white screen by startup, or after a softclose (for example when turn over from laptop to tablet mode). When I open and close my screen after a couple of times the screen is ok and I can work with it. I called Lenovo support because I think it is something with the connector from the screen to the motherboard. The computer was 2 months out of warranty so they say that I could send it to support for a check, what will cost me a lot of money for only analyse the issue. So I asked for another solution. They asked me to reinstal Windows and al the drivers, because they think that it is a software issue. Because there is a lot of software on my computer, and I need him every day for my work, I didn't have time to do this directly (first make a backup and then reinstall al the software). So I bought a new Lenovo thinkpad Yoga 260, and installed al my software. Dusty,

Do not confuse "external monitor" with "DUAL Monitor". The latter is what you apparently want. The former is what you have.

You can Google: Thinkpad 770 external monitor

which will confirm what you have with the 770.

Hi, Have you tried to update your WLAN driver? System Update is a good tool to detect drivers and helps you to update them:https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht080136 I would try that first and if it still has the problem, try to respond with: - Operativing system (x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit)) (See Control Panel -> System)- Product Number (P/N)

Good morning everyone. I installed on my x250 (using a free WWAN slot) M.2 SSD disk - ADATA Premier SP600 256GB M.2 SSD. First installation: April 2016. The disk worked great. After a "BIG windows10 update" the drive began to freeze and died on August 2016. The drive was replaced with a new one. On March 2017 the problem returned (in the new disk) - again began to freeze and died. From here my question arises - did I make a mistake somewhere? Do dear forumers who did similar installations on their x250 have similar problems? What can I do to prevent the problem on the third drive? During installation I did not mix anything in BIOS etc - just "plug ang play". I would be very grateful for your help.

My second X250 came in with a 16GB SanDisk SSD in addition to a 500GB HDD. Reading through the forum, a post mentioned that this 16GB SSD is placed in the position of the smart card reader. The mannual says this is a 3rd NGFF adapter. I am wondering if this 16GB SSD can be upgraded with a m.2 2242 32GB SSD module (or other types). I opened the back cover, lifted the internal battery, then lifted the shining metal cover a little and I don't see a memory module and port under it. I have installed Linux Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on to this 16GB SSD; the Ubuntu install runs well except that only 1.5GB space left. I am trying to see if there is a way to replace this 16GB SSD with a larger size module. Using the m.2 port next to the WiFi card is my last resort. I need advice before taking more parts apart. Thank you.

I recently bought an X250, and immediately upon using it, found that the spacebar is not as responsive as all the older thinkpads I've had in the past. Specifically, when I type I press on the right side of the spacebar to create a space, but my usual amount of force is no longer responded to by the keyboard. If I push harder, it will respond, but that's annoying because it slows down my typing speed. If I press on the middle of the spacebar it works much better, and if I press it with my left thumb it works better, too. Does that mean I'm typing wrong all these years, or did I end up with a bad key?  I have depot service, so would Lenovo address this if I send it in? If I send this in, do I need to remove all the data on the machine? Would they replace the spacebar or the entire keyboard as I saw somewhere? How long would it take? Gotta say that the keyboard is much worse than the X230 that I am coming from. Thanks for any heads up!

Hello guys I recently bought a second hand X250 with an Intel 240gb SSD installed and I am planning to install also an M.2 SSD to install Linux.I have already installed Linux in another partition in the Intel, but in general I am not a big fan of grub and also I don't like the restriction of maximum 4 primary partitions per disk. I would prefer to keep the Windows drive 100% clean of any Linux staff. So, I'm planning to install my Linux in the M.2 drive (I have already cleaned my system disk of the Linux staff, grub etc) and I was wondering if choosing the boot up device from the bios is going to be an option, without grub or other boot loaders. I just want to leave the Intel as default boot device and when I want to boot up in Linux, I will choose to boot from the M.2 SSD.Will such a setup work in my Thinkpad? As far as the M.2 drive itself, a 120 gb is more than enough and I am planning to go for an ADATA. I have read a lot of negative reviews about the Transcend M.2s and I don't trust "random" manufacturers, like ZTC or KingDian. Is there any better option for me? Thank you very much for your time. I 'm looking forward to your replies. Cheers

I've just received a new X250, maxed out, and I'm really unhappy. Within a few minutes of booting it, I was seeing red and blue horizontal lines on the screen. I hoped these would be fixed by updates, but regardless of the driver, they are still there. To add insult to injury, the ports on the left hand side of the laptop do not line up with the casing. The USB port can be used, but the Display Port is seriously rubbing. The VGA connector is unusable. I'd hoped I'd have the laptop a week before I started a new job, and now it looks like I will be a week later. Does anyone know how I best approach Lenovo for a replacement under the Sale of Goods Act? I really don't want it to be repaired - this is a bad machine.

A:Really disappointed in new X250

Sorry to hear about the issues with your new X250. That must be very frustrating. According to Lenovo, returns should be easy providing you do it within 14 days.

I appreciate you may not receive the replacement before you start your new job. You might want to ask Lenovo if they have a similarly configured X250 in stock that they could send you instead of waiting for the replacement to come from China.

Hi, I just bought a X250 today. I received it with Windows 7 Pro, and the first thing I did was upgrade it to Windows 10. After an hour of use, I noticed that the battery was draining really fast. I clicked in the battery icon on the system tray and noticed that it says: Battery 1: This battery is not available for useBattery 2: 40% (or whatever) I opened Device Manager and I see two devices listed under the "batteries" section, both of them called "Battery with Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method" (translating from Spanish, which is my system language, so it might not be exactly like this). I guess this means that the system indeed detects that there are two batteries, so it looks like a software problem. I right clicked on both of them and selected "uninstall", and then went to action > look for hardware changes, so that should refresh the driver. After doing that, the "battery 1: this battery is not available" message still appears. I also noticed that there was a power manager application from Lenovo which is not compatible with Windows 10. After upgrading, Windows notified me that this app had been removed and I don't see a W10 equivalent on the support downloads section of the Lenovo website. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Pau

A:X250 Battery 1 "is not available for use"

I also tried unplugging the second battery (the removable one). Immediately after unplugging it, the computer shuts down. If I turn it on without the second battery and plugged into the wall outlet, the icon in the lower right corner (system tray) says "no battery found"; however, on device manager I still can see one battery appearing. If I click on "properties" in device manager, it says that the device is working correctly, and there is no sign of any error log or crash report inside the battery properties in device manager.  I tried updating the BIOS and resetting BIOS to defaults, and it makes no difference. I also tried running Ubuntu from a USB stick ("try" option) and it only detects the second battery, not the integrated one.  I guess it must be a hardware problem.

Hi, I have an X250 with Windows 10. Recently my touchpad button got mechanically stuck, so I removed the touchpad, fiddled with the button until it would release when pressed, and I put everything back together. Unfortunately now the touchpad is not working as before. These are the symptoms: 1. Touchpad often freezes for several minutes, though I can use a USB mouse without any problems. It seems it freezes when CPU is hight, or if I click too many times the touchpad, or make too many gestures. For example if I try to move the cursor in circles, the touchpad freezes, along with the buttons and tracker. 2. Sometimes when I press left click, I get the scroll cursor as if I pressed the  middle button.  Was anyone confronted with this problem? My suspicion is that I might not have plugged in the connector cable properly. I have struggled to put the cable back in the touchpad but I didn't want to break it. Any ideas how to push that cable in the touchpad, or how I can know if it's properly connected? Thanks.

Hello all, I am looking to get an x250 but I have a question about the screen. Speaking to my boss who has an x240 he experienced quite a lot of ghosting issues with the IPS screen. I was wondering if these issues have been corrected for the model or should I just go with the TN screen and not risk it? I tried contacting Lenovo sales and customer support and got very unhelpful  answers such as "it is a new model therefore it makes sense it will have new parts" and "we can not give part details to customers". They even told me there had not been any reported issues with the x240 screens, when I have found multiple forum posts about people getting their screens repaired it and have seen the ghosting for myself.  Does anyone here have an x250 with an IPS screen and if so have they seen any ghosting issues?

A:x250 screen issues?

I have the FHD IPS display on my X250. I am not really sure what "ghosting" is since I have never experienced it. However, I can say that the screen is very sharp and I'm very happy with the way it displays text, photos, and HD videos.

I am looking to upgrade my X250 to improve performance. I am not a gamer, don't need lightning speed, so I figure almost any type SSD will do. My Intel I7 chip will support 16GB memory, so I will be doing that as well. I have a couple of questions I don't see answered. If I install a 256-500GB M2.SSD for the bootable drive, can I use the currently installed HDD as a D: drive? I did see I need to remove Express Cache if I use the M2.SSD slot for my bootable drive. Anyone doing this and what do I need to do in Disk Management to define the two drives? I think I can do a MS system backup of my HDD before either installing the M2.SSD or the internal SSD, and do a system recovery to restore Windows to the new drive. If that won't work, what do I need to do? Do I need to format the SSD before doing the recovery? If I decide to to low tech and just replace my HDD with an SSD, is there any reason to retain the M2.SSD? It is mainly to improve disk performance, and with an SSD instead of an HDD, it seems like wasted overhead. I have used fast startup, and I see no difference in startup time. Seems like a waste of effort. I don't think the Lenovo recovery partition on my X250 is of any use after upgrading to Windows 10. After I get the SSD installed and working, I plan to do a fresh install (not reinstall) of Windows 10 Pro, and format the SSD during the install. This should get rid of any unused partitions and make maximum spae available for my C: dri... Read more

Thanks - Michael

Sounds like your boot order is messed up.  Boot into the BIOS.  Go to startup/boot.  What does it say for the order?  Hit F9 to load defaults.  Try again

Hi..I have got this new Thinkpad X250 with pre installed Windows 7 Professional. It has 1TB HDD and a 16GB SSD which I believe has got the recovery. I wanted to know if there is any way to reinstall my Windows without inserting any external bootable drives and if yes then what steps should I take to get the re installation done and get back my system the way it was when I bought it...

Did anyone ever attempt to upgrade the LCD to 2K 2560*1440 or even 4K 3840*2160? 12.5 screens are available at reasonable cost....any reason not do this?I just love upgrading this thing to the max

My x250's CPU temperature approaches 90+ degrees when I try to watch youtube videos on Chrome/Firefox. I can hear the whiny fan speed up. I usually have the power setting at Maximum Performance in Power Manager. Is this the nature of core i ulv cpus?

That shouldn't be normal. Propably, there is something wrong with the fan assembly or the thermal grease.

My X250 suddenly could not resume from sleep. When pushing the power button the green light comes on, the keyboard light comes up and turns off after approx 1 second and the fan starts for about 3 seconds and then stops. Nothing shows on the screen. When trying to turn off the computer the green light disappears after holding the button for about 1 second. I have tried removing the internal battery, the external. Removed RAM, removed CMOS battery. Resetting the bios via the Emergency hole. Anybody with some good advice? What can I try? Is my laptop bricked?

Hi, I recently purchased Sierra AirPrime EM7345 for my ThinkPad X250 & when opening the chassis to find already installed in the M.2 slot was a SanDisk 16GB SSD Sata card. There was only one slot for either momery card or WWAN card, I choose to install WWAN card but would also need memory card. How to have both at the sometime? Is it possible to add another M.2 slot or will have to use an external SSD M.2? Thanks.

A:X250: possible to have BOTH M.2 SSD and WWAN card?

wilson638,there isn't separate slot for small SSD. This laptop can be equipped by the 2nd 2.5" drive (SSD including) in the DVD bay via adapter.Note, you have to remove cache application (Express Cache) before removing of the m.2 SSD.

Hello, I have a brand new Thinkpad X250 with a stock Toshiba 256GB SSD and Windows 7 Professional.Since I need more storage I have purchased an m.2 SSD drive from Adata (Premier SP600, 256GB).After installing it in the empty m.2 slot, I get all the time the blue screen of death at the end of the Windows boot, just before the logon screen. This happens also when I boot in Safe Mode.I removed the m.2 drive and everything works perfectly again. To be noted that:1 - I have the latest BIOS in my Thinkpad2 - I have made a disk test of the m.2 drive from the BIOS boot menu and the drive is recognized, no defects3 - My primary SSD disk is encrypted with PGP (not sure this matters) Any idea what may be causing this and how to solve it? Thanks, Kurt

A:Issues with m.2 SSD drive on X250

I have found the solution: after updating to the latest Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) driver v.14.5.0.1081 (not yet  available on the Lenovo support site where a much older driver is provided), my ADATA m.2 SSD works perfectly on my X250.
