Just an FYI for anyone owning the HP Pavilion 15-AB292NR ("Flagship") 15" notebook (Windows 10 Home x64): I've found that the older intel (HP) 10.18.15.4279 drivers from September, 2015 are *much* faster than the latest intel (HP) 20.19.15.4360 drivers. As in: 60% faster, both in real world gaming FPS and in synthetic benchmarks. I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Per the subject line: HP Pavilion 15-AB292NR, on power up, the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 internal WiFi adapter is not found, white square with red X is displayed in lower right corner of Windows 10 login screen. Must power-cycle or restart laptop 2 or 3 times before the white square with the red X on the Win10 login screen is replaced by the little Internet Access "Fan", then device works.  Wireless network then runs fine.   Has all the latest Windows 10 Home x64 updates and drivers.  Microsoft Windows 10 [Version 10.0.14393]

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab292nr. The notebook came with 8 mgs of ram. As I understand it, the ram can be upgraded to 16 mgs. I wish to now what brand or type of 8 mg ram console (say, in Amazon descriptions) is compatible and whether there is any documentation that describes how to install the additional ram. Thanks !

Got this new laptop for Christmas.  It came with only 1 stick of 8GB Ram.  Went to BB and got a pair of 8GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 PNY.  Now my laptop overheats and locks up.  The only difference is the old memory stick was a DDR3L, the new memory is only DDR3. This memory should work, why is it not?

A:HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab292nr

There's the problem. No it should not work. I am surprised it boots and runs. The laptop is designed for low-voltage memory and you really should not use anything else on a 6th gen Intel Core processor. Did you ask the geniuses (oops wrong store) at BB what your laptop needed or pick it out yourself? Can you take it back and get DDR3L? Pretty sure BB stocks it. I bought this HP Pavilion 15-AB292NR "Flagship" laptop new in April 2016, came with core i7-6700HQ CPU - only to find out later  that the memory sockets on this laptop won't accept DDR4 RAM (and no, there are no UniDIMM notches in the memory sockets; the socket is notched for DDR3, only).  I discovered this after much digging, wading through documents, and numerous, seemingly endless calls to HP Tech Support - I finally got some answers after I was put through to the HP Parts Department. It is currently running 16 GB of DDR3L-1600 CL9 RAM (1.35 v), and industry standard synthetic benchmarks and real-world applications bear this out:  this system lags other systems in the same class (same CPU but with DDR4-2133  RAM) by 18% to 20% in overall performance.  This performance hit is particularly felt by the onboard intel HD 530 Integrated Graphics (again, optimized for DDR4), whose performance is tied directly to the speed of main system RAM. The DDR3-only system board limitation again holds this system back in FPS performance by 18 - 20% -  I've measured this myself. Skylake CPUs and chipsets are optimized for DDR4 memory.  This laptop is hobbled by DDR3 only sockets. I bought this laptop thinking that its "Flagship" status meant that it would be a top performer. Looks like I was sadly mistaken.

This is a long standing question. Which drivers should I use? I have graphical issues with the current Drivers from Dell.
Any ideas what are the advantages of Dell's drivers over the ones from Intel/NVIDIA web site and do the even work? What will I lose if I use the latter?

A:Inspiron 7567 which drivers? Dell drivers or Intel/NVIDIA graphics drivers?

Dell drivers are Intel/Nvidia drivers that are customized for your exact model and should be used. They are available at Dell Support if you have to reinstall.

Hello, First, I must admit, I'm pretty disappointed and pissed off with my interactions so far with HP support. I tried asking this question both on FB and using the HP Chat support (been waiting over 30 minutes for a rep...) I bought a few days ago a Pavilion ab292nr, I have two simple questions, I understand that I can't put DDR4 Memory on it since it only supports DDR3L, what's the maximum memory speed for this laptop? I consider buying two 8gb DDR3L 2133MHz, I guess it should speed up the computer further, but I'm not sure if I can get the full advantage of 2133MHz since the memory the laptop come with is 1600MHz (it sounds completely stupid that the laptop would support 2133MHz and HP would deliberately decide to put a slower crappier memory in it).** Please do not refer me to the maintenance guide, I checked it out, it doesn't say **bleep**. Also, I'm interested in buying a 256Gb SSD to be my primary harddrive and put the slow 1TB HD asa secondary one. First, is it possible? If so, where can I get my windows code in order to reinstall it with the SSD as primary HD? Third, since no one really uses CDs today, is it possible to just remove the DVD drive? Is there any place I could buy a plastic cover or something? I would appreciate your help. Thanks,Fabian

Intel Preps Screaming-Fast 25nm SSDs

Intel once blazed a trail into the high-end SSD arena with its X25 series, and while the Santa Clara chip maker's X25-E is no slouch wtih read and write speeds of 250MB/s and 170MB/s, respectively, those are no longer best-in-class numbers.

Don't count Intel out, however. After completing the transition to 25nm NAND flash wafers in a joint effort with Micron, Intel is reportedly making new SSDs based on the die shrink. Codenamed Lyndonville, these upcoming SSDs are expected to run faster than anything currently in Intel's stable.

My Dell XPS L502x is 14 months old (i7, 8GB, 689GB HDD, HM77, Nvidia 540M GT). I have installed all latest drivers for my laptop from Dell website. But those are still more than 6 months old. When I use Intel Driver update utility, it shows new version of drivers available. Even my nvidia control panel shows new driver available.
Is it Okay to update drivers from intel and nvidia website and replace drivers from Dell. I heard that Dell mods the drivers for thier laptops before supplying to thier users.

A:Should I update my stock Dell Drivers to Intel Drivers.

S"hould you", that is up to you, but the Intel drivers are the best for your computer. If you decide to change your drivers, start with a system restore point.
If you are not having specific problems, you probably will not notice any improvement however.

Hi,

Is there a fast way to get all the drivers for a a PC or laptop that I'm doing an OEM Win7 reinstall on? Like is there a subscription service or some resource to speed up the install of drivers not on the generic MS Windows 7 install disk.

For example say I reinstall on a Sony or Fujitsu laptop. These are great machines but they need many drivers not on the generic install disk and the original manufacturers disk might be lost. So I go through the process of fetching what drivers I need from the manufacturer's website - which takes time.

Is there a faster way? Is there a "trick" or service or library available with most of these more proprietary drivers that can let me do it in one or two "swoops"?

Thanks

A:Is there a fast way of getting needed drivers when doing a reinstall?

There`s no faster way. No trick or library.

And any driver programs are nothing but garbage.

At first - YES, I KNOW WINDOWS 7 doesn't need any multi-media keyboard drivers but this is a specific problem.

I need the drivers for my multi-media Turbo-Spero keyboard cause it has a software with the driver that controls the mm keys cause when i install the driver for my Logitech Laser RX1000 mouse a am not able to use my mm keys on my keyboard.

Immanently after uninstalling this driver the keyboard works perfectly but i can't without the mouse driver cause the mouse has 3 more button's which don't work correctly without them.

I know that the problem will be lost when installing the turbo-spero drivers but their page doesn't exist anymore and i have them on a floppy disk but only for Xp and i don't even have a floppy reader on my PC !

Please help me !

Please help me, I have hp pavilion dm3 laptop, with SIM card slot behind the pattery slot. my question is = How can i use it???

A:how can i use the SIM card on my hp pavilion dm3 intel ver.

Hi: Along with the SIM card slot, which all dm3's in your model series have, select models have the optional WWAN (mobile broadband wireless adapter) which your notebook most likely does not have. You can easily tell if your notebook has a mobile broadband (WWAN) card by going to the device manager, click to expand the network adapters device manager category. You should see a wired adapter model, a wireless adapter model and a mobile broadband adapter model.. If you just see the first two then your notebook doesn't have the hardware for the sim card to work.

I am installing new drivers after an upgrade to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and I have 2 separate issues.

The page I am using for drivers is here:
MSI Global

And I am following the suggested order.

1) When I began setup for the Intel VGA driver I received an error message saying that "This computer does not meet the requirements."

- I skipped it and continued down the list of drivers but I am concerned since the second monitor I want to use is still not working.
- The Nvidia VGA driver installed correctly.

Is this a normal error and I should accept it as I do not need that driver or should I find another Intel VGA driver to try?

2) I have installed the Killer LAN and Killer Wireless LAN drivers for my laptop. Do I now need to ALSO install the Intel Wireless LAN drivers or no? Is it optional or required or don't do it at all?

Thanks for your help!

OK so here's my issue. Since I built this computer past few months I experienced freezing with the mouse still operational. I narrowed it down to Fast Boot hibernating the drivers. Which leads me to believe that it's still an issue with the drivers. I have all my specs on my profile.. I'm wondering if anyone has ideas how to go about fixing the issue with the drivers so that I am able to activate Fast Boot again since disabling it was the only fix to the freezing..?

A:Drivers, Fast Boot, System Freezing

Hi there,
I have a similar issue. Since I've built my own PC I can't get Fastboot to work without ending up in a blank screen during the boot process. No mouse pointer is visible. The screen isn't necessarily black. It varies from grey to white to black. Sometimes the PC shuts itself off a few seconds after the blank screen occured and powers up thereafter. On my former PC (P35 chipset with Nvidia graphics card, Fastboot used to work like a charm. The new PC has an Asrock z87 chipset with integrated Intel graphics. All drivers are on the bleeding edge of recency; I even tried Beta drivers. Nothing seems to work. The system now is far away from a clean install due to the mess with different driver versions. Fastboot is off, the only way to boot up. I'm a frequent visitor on the Intel user forums and there are lots of users who complain about these blank screen issues: https://communities.intel.com/message/230850#230850
The issues persist since Fast Startup was introduced. Intel seems to be clueless to provide a fix. The Asrock forum sees similar posts: windows 8.1 fails to load at start up

I'm still not 100% sure whether the culprit are the graphics drivers or any other component like chipset drivers/Management Engine/Rapid Storage or Windows itself. If somebody is out there who finds all the written to be familiar and was able to fix it, PLEASE let us know how. Thanx!

Hi: Most of the time, an Intel wireless card won't work in a notebook with an amd processor and chipset. You can try it as long as your notebook has two antenna leads to connect to the card. The worse that can happen is it won't work. If you want a dual band wireless N card with bluetooth for your notebook that will work (as long as you have 2 antenna leads), then use the Broadcom dual band card. Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 22 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter for use on all computer models  HP Part # 730668-001

My fan is making a noise while operating.  Can I just replace the fan or do I need to replace the fan and the heat sink.  How do I find out what the OEM Part numbers are? Also, what is the maximum amount of RAM that I can have in the laptop?

A:Intel fan & Heat sink for HP Pavilion dv6000

dv6700 will take 4 gigs of RAM or 2 x 2 gig of DDR2-667. We need the specific exact model number of the laptop to tell you the replacement fan/heatsink part number as there were models with Intel and AMD processor and with integrated and dedicated video chips and the parts are different.  You can replace just the fan, but that will require rebuilding the fan/heatsink unit and it is not easy to get the fan attached to the heatsink "just so" such that there is no vibration and it fits properly in the chassis. The entire fan/heatsink unit is widely avaliable and only a couple dollars more than just the fan although if you install just the fan you can find compatible fans that are newer and have superior construction than the ones used 7-8 years ago. Some of the fan/heatsink units for sale will be refurbished which means someone who knows how to do it has installed a current fan on an older heatsink or sometimes the Chinese shops manufacture an entire knock-off part and they work very well.  While you are in there on that model you definitely want to enhance the cooling with some copper shims on the cpu and video chip.  Post back with any more questions.

Well I had some time so I decided to indeed do the update, what followed was a nightmare, the message said restart after telling me it had completed, from that point on my machine as been stuck at the white HP logo circle. They sent me a flash drive to do a recovery, the instructions did not macth what was coming up on my screen, to cut a very long story short and countless number of phone calls to India, my machine is stuck. I think we have tried pretty much everything, talked to three different tech agents on Sunday all of them had different solutions none of which worked, one said you have a great machine there, I said not right now its freaking not working. A:I set my router to channel 1 now I can't connect to the inte

Hi Darthemu, and welcome to TSG.

If you are referring to setting the router's WiFi access point to channel #1, do you know if there may be other WiFi access points operating very close to you? If so, they may be on the same or adjacent channel and interfering with your WiFi access point. If you changed the settings using a WiFi connection, you may need to temporarily switch to a wired Ethernet connection to change them again.

A free utility call Xirrus WiFi Inspector can be used on a WiFi equipped computer to find out what channels are being used by WiFi access points in your vicinity and the strength of their signals.

I just want to hook the main computer without wires from the modem. I can't find the required wireless hook up on the main computer. Can anyone help? Kind regards Bruce

Hi, Based on information from this page, it has Expansion Slots:    1 PCI Express x16    2 PCI Express x1    1 PCI It also has an ASUS DVB-T/PALTV tuner card and a NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT card. I don't know where they are. Therefore you still have at least 1 PCI Express slot and 1 PCI slot free. My suggestion is to use wireles PCI Express card such as this or USB wireless card such as this. Any of them should come with a driver CD and instructions how to connect to an existing wireless Network. Regards,

Hello everyone, As proposed by my products update scan, I downloaded and installed the current Intel HD5500 graphic card driver. But it cannot be configured via the Intel graphic card control panel . The control panel doesn't show up (But its executable exists under C:\WINDOWS\system32\GfxUIEx.exe). I cannot run it from the start menu and it is missing from the context menu on the desktop. I tried reinstalling the driver, but couldn't get it to work. So, my question is: where can I get the old graphic card drivers for my laptop, since they don't show up on the download page anymore? Cheers,Patrick

I am looking to upgrade my wifi card for my Hp Pavilion 17-1215dx. It currently has a RealtekRTL8188EE wifi card that only does 2.4 ghz and I want to connect to 5 ghz. Is this possible and if so what would be the part number of the new wifi card?

The model is actually 17-f215dx and it takes a mini-pcie.  Here's the problem. The motherboard can accept a dual channel 5ghz card BUT your model has only a single wireless antenna. See pages 3-4 of the Manual here. Manual  All wireless adapters except the Intel AC3160 have a single antenna. This will effectively block any effort to upgrade to something like the Intel 7260ac, which is what you would want, as mentioned by @visruth. The only way to do it would be to completely disassemble the laptop and string a second wireless antenna cable, which is a major chore...basically take it completely apart and rebuild.  Post back and let us know if you want to do the antenna or if you maybe want some links to usb wireless adapters.  Don't shoot the messenger here. Not my decision to build it like this just letting you know the lay of the land.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT. I've tried ALL the solutions I found online and nothing worked!!OS: Windows 8.1-64 bit1. My HDMI cable is brand new, AND WE tested it at the store, with the store's own TV and laptop.2. Sound Panel -> Playback tab, then right clicked on the two options called "show disabled devices" and"Show Disconnected devices" that appeared, and checked these. Didn't work. It did not show the HDMI devicein Playback.3. Also installed the latest Intel Graphics media accelerator, even ran the Intel Driver update utility soit can detect which drivers need upgrading. Downloaded their latest driver, restarted and still the HDMIdevice doesn't show anywhere, not in sound panel.4. I've also gone to Device Manager -> System Devices -> High Definition Audio Controller to Update Driverbut Windows says its Up to Date because I downloaded the latest Intel Driver for Windows 8.15. I've also gone to services.msc and restarted Windows Audio Service. The HDMI device still does not showin my Sound Card Panel nor the Device Manager...I restarted my laptop while TV is ON and connected tolaptop through HDMI. Still NOT Working.
