Active Pen 2 bug: long press of the top side button leads to PrintScreen action (Yoga 730-15)

Q: Active Pen 2 bug: long press of the top side button leads to PrintScreen action (Yoga 730-15)

Hello! Part 1: After the latest drivers update (Wacom develops driver for Lenovo Active Pen 2), the long press of the top side button leads to activation of screenshot event (kind of Snip and Sketch). It interrupts any drawing activity. For example, Sketchable application has a color picking assigned to this button, which is interrupted by screenshot triggering. Note: There are 2 side buttons on the Active Pen 2, and the top side button leads to the issue. It's not about usual top button at the end of the pen, and it's not about long tap of the pen itself (that "issues" were found in a huge amounts in the internet). I found that 1. Working driver version: Lenovo Pen Service (Wacom provider) 7.5.1.21, 2. not working: 7.6.1.29.Now, community, I ask you how and where to report the driver issue? Part 2: I reported the issue to Wacom support. Wacom supports stopped support me when they realized that I have Lenovo Active Pen 2, so you can see "Lenovo" there, not Wacom, that's why it's not Wacom's problem. Not really clear situation, because drivers has been downloaded from Wacom site and developed by Wacom. Ok, then I went to Lenovo support. I managed to communicate to USA Lenovo support, and they redirected me to my local Lenovo representatives (not USA) because of the laptop warranty location. How the laptop warranty is linked to Wacom driver bug? After that destructive finger pointing, I came here. Perhaps, could you suggest me any reasonable way to report a driver issue? P.S.: For now I found older driver 7.5.1.21 in my local PC, as I stated in the "part 1" above, and it works as it is supposed to work, only disadvantage - current Lenovo Pen Settings app doesn't show nice UI, but still pen works with Windows native support of stylus.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Is there a way to change how the power button works? In order to turn on my laptop, I have to long-press the power button for about 2 seconds instead of just a quick press like normal. It's really annoying.
The laptop I'm using is a Latitude 7275, but I also have several Latitude 5175 laptops at work that do the exact same thing.

Apps such as facebook that allow you to long-press a "like" link which pops up "like, love, wow, sad and hate" icons do not work with the touch screen. You can use the touch pad for those but not the touchscreen. Kind of ridiculous since dell has had this functionality for years. I contacted support who gave me the typical runaround about installing windows updates, running the lenovo advantage system update, yada-yada. Which of course made absolutely no difference. Do they even test this stuff??? Does anyone know a solution? Does it work with a pen? (i don't have a pen yet)

I tried to deactivate the long-press feature on my Thinkpad Yoga 370 for the pen.It just didn't work (Even when I manually changed the setting in the registry.)After some time of trying different stuff I finally figured out that I can deactivate the right-click on long press in the "Pen and Touch" settings found in the Control Panel. However:Only the settings in the "Touch" Tab actually get applied; for both pen and touch! The settings on the "Pen Options" Tab don't have any effect on anyting. I would like to configure my system to allow long-press for right click for touch input but not for the pen input. Is there a way to do this (maybe through manual registry configuration)or is this a driver bug?(Should it be the latter; would you mind fixing it @lenovo?)

When I press the printscreen button then go to "run" and type in "clipbrd" i can see the screen dump of what I've saved. How do I save this as a file that I can manage ? My copy button stays grey and won't let me save the screen picture for editing. I know this can be done but have forgotten how - can you help anyone please ?

A:Use of printscreen button

You need to use image editing software. Once you have copied the pic to the board, open something like fireworks or photoshop and click on new image... It should automatically give you the dimensions of the image in your clipboard so just click OK. You then simply have to save the pic.

If you don't have such software, then you can easily use paint. Start>Programs>Accessories>Paint Edit>Paste. Then save.

Hello everyone (and Happy Thanksgiving!),Two days ago, I got the antivirus action virus; I followed the steps on this site to remove it via malwarebytes--and successfully did. Woke up today, however, and the computer began acting strange--Java started all of the sudden (Since this was when Antivirus Action initially started, I rushed to end the process, but no use), then I instantly began running malwarebytes again. It discovered three infected files; two fake alert definitions, and one other trojan (really hitting myself in the head for not writing down exact names). Malwarebytes was running extremely slow for some reason, and my computer was behaving radically. I'm running XP Home - SP3, and the screen froze for a second, and then went to the classic 98 or older era windows template--then went back. Then it did it again a half hour later and remained in that state. Before I started scanning with malwarebytes, I received a Win32 HOST process failure notification (where it asks to choose to send error info to Microsoft or not). After Malwarebytes finished scanning, it said it needed to reboot to delete certain files. So I did. Here is where I ran into the BSOD. I chose safe mode, with/without networking, last known configuration, and boot normally--to no avail. I disabled automatic restart on error, and the BSOD posted: *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xB84C7524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)Also, when booting in Safe Mode, the system hangs on "MDFSYSNT.sys." I was doing some tech support for my mom regarding screen captures and discovered the print screen key (and eventually the F12 key as well) is not working, on an otherwise fully functional keyboard.  The laptop in question is a Yoga13 running Windows 8.1 (Yes, it survived the forced Windows 10 update era) It will be needed tomorrow, so I didn't want to do anything drastic just yet; I've rebooted the computer and cleaned the keyboard as much as possible (those chiclet style keys don't pop off the way old style keys did, so cleaning under them is problematic).  No effect. I've found workarounds for all of the features assigned to these keys - the onscreen keyboard handles the normal F12 and PrintScreen functions, and Power Options allows for brightness adjustments independent of the F12's special function (which is good, because I cranked the brightness way down testing the keyboard - F11 works just fine), but we'd rather not have to deal with these solutions long term. We had the keyboard replaced at a reputable computer repair shop a while back - I'll be getting in touch with the proprietor there tomorrow, and I've already made a post on TechSupportForum.  I'll keep you posted on what I try based on their advice.

Hi every one,
Recently I purchased new PC,
After installing windows XP Pro SP3 I found that there is a missing button in Power option properties. The missing button is (When I press the sleep button on my computer), I can find only (When I press the power button on my computer).
My system configuration is as follow
Mother board Gigabyte EP45-UD3R Rev 1.1
My graphic card is ATI Radeon HD 5670
Windows XP SP3
RAM 4Gb Kingston DDRII
CPU Core 2 Quad 2.66 GHz
It worth saying that I can shutdown, hibernate or put my PC into sleep mode, so the functions are working but only the button is missing.
I will appreciated very much if some can advise me how to restore the missing button. Is there some option in BIOS that will enable this button?
I contacted Gigabyte customer support, but they directed me to Microsoft, I also contacted ATI but they directed me to Microsoft or BIOS settings. In my BIOS I can't find any option that may affect this button. Any advise will be appreciated
Best regards

A:[SOLVED] Button of (When I press sleep button) is not available in my Power option pr

Does the case actually have a separate Sleep Button? I suspect it's not even connected, as the motherboard manual doesn't show a connection for a Sleep Button, only a Power Button.
Windows Power Options won't list it, as it doesn't exist.

If you have a Sleep Button on the keyboard, it might not be listed in Power Options either. That would be up to the Driver software to add that option. You may have to use the software that came with the keyboard to configure the sleep button on the keyboard.

Friend of mine has got problem with his desktop (XP SP2) , when he starts the PC it boots normally till it reaches where it shows windows XP logo then the screen gets blank (i.e he can not see the login name for users).

What he used to do: is press the sleep button on the wireless keyboard, then after that press the hardware switch on/off button (not the reset button) on the tower of the hard box.

After pressing switch on/off button, he gets directly (pay attention to this) to the login screen where he can see the usernames for all users.

He has to do this procedure every time he would like to boot the desktop

Hey so I've been having major problems with my windows 10 desktop

Basically, my story starts off with a sudden crash caused by (I think) an overheating gpu whilst playing a casual game of civilisation V.
My desktop is an ACER AME600-EB398 supporting some no-name motherboard (acer inc. ipimb-ar), an Intel i7 3770 which is pretty good, a measely 300W of continuous power, a 2TB hard drive, a 16Gb SSD containing only Windows 10, an optical drive and a Nvidia GT630.

The crash lead to a blue screen with an error code 0xc000014c which I was able to fix, with massive difficulty, thanks to a boot drive that I create using the laptop I am currently using. The reason why I did not simply use a Windows recovery disk is because windows 8 came preinstalled on my computer, and of course I did not have a windows 10 cd. After repairing the blue screen and entering my computer, there were some major problems such as my inability to open the windows search or the inability to open certain apps. I was then doing some research on how to repair the problems when an error message popped up saying "Windows detected a hard dive problem", I then concluded that, based off of the blue screen crash, the instruction page given to me by Windows accompanying the error message (which I will add below), and the newly found difficulties, windows (and thus my SSD containing windows) was severely corrupted.

I then decided to try and repair the SSD with the aid of the internet, suggesting tha... Read more

Hi guys, I think this MAY have something to do with me overclocking my CPU a while back, as I initially used a tweaking program, which I soon learned just messes with your CPU so I did it myself in BIOS. Prior to me doing it myself My computer stopped resetting as it should do eaither by hitting the reset button or doing it through XP/Vista. I use both OS so I know this is a hardware issue, ovbiously. If anyone has a fix it for this it would be greatly appreciated. When I do reset it though, everything is still running, hdd is still on, monitor stays on so thats a good indication that nothing has powered off or is resetting.

Basically all I can tell yas.

I notice when I push on the right side, the key pushes in perfectly meaning no tightness or whatever. But when I push on the left, I notice its a bit tougher and if you were to hear it, sounds like the key is touching against another key but its not. It just seems not as smooth. What can I do to make my left side push as smoothly as the right? Im thinking maybe it just needs some buttering up on the left side, maybe just a little dry. But how do you go about popping off a laptop space bar without breaking it. Is there any springs in voled.

Seems that you erased your OEM Recovery Partition that is used to reinstall Windows back to the OEM factory Defaults when you ran Active Kill Disk which erases your whole hard drive sector by sector.

You will have to contact HP and see if you can get a OEM HP recovery disk to reinstall Windows. Or go here Looking for Recovery Discs? | HP? Support

Hi All

I wonder if anyone else has had this issue and knows how to fix...

I'm typing normally in a window. It could be in any application (any MS Office app, Skype, etc; but curiously NOT internet explorer). I press the 1 key (this only happens with the 1 key - alone or SHIFT+1, CTRL+1, ALT+1) and the whole window instantly shifts position on the desktop down and to the right. This typically moves the active window partially off screen (and of course mostly such that the text I'm typing also goes off screen).
Interestingly it also moves the mouse position too - say I have the mouse cursor arrow somewhere inside the active window, the cursor also shifts position to be in the same position relative to the active window.

The move only happens once (i.e. if I press 1 for a second time or more, the active window doesn't move again).

It happens both when the active window is maximised and when it is not (when it's maximised the active window changes to 'restore down' status and I think the new position of the active window is always the same and the active window also changes to the same new size too.

Anyone have the slightest clue what might be going on here?

[This is happening on my Surface Pro 3 i7 with windows 8.1, not any of my other PCs]

Thanks a lot

Ok so here's the situation :

my friend's PC suddenly stopped working something like a month ago. He took it to some local computer repair shop who diagnosed a dead mobo and PSU.

They told him his mobo was now impossible to find and since I could get my hands on one fairly easily he asked me to repair it for him.

So basicly I changed his PSU and ordered a new INTEL D865GLC Socket 478 (his mobo)... I just received the damn thing and even with the brand new mobo the PC does the exact same **** :

I press the power button and absolutely nothing happens, nothing! Even the fans stay idle . What could be the cause? I even tried shorting the POWER SW pins with a screwdriver to make sure it wasn't the case Power Button but in vain.

I tried swapping mem sticks, changing PSU, tried removing HDD, DVD drive and GPU... no help there either.

Could it be a dead CPU?

One thing I did notice was when I remove the 4 pin CPU cable from PSU, the self test works instantly but the power button still doesnt work. Nothing, also did jumper on power l, reset CMOS. Could this be my CpU fried? Or the motherboard? I still need to take it out from case and check for capacitors etc..

Greetings. So I recently purchased a used Y50-70 and one of the first things I noticed about it was the left and right buttons on the touch pad require either a strong tap to register, or a long press (about 1 second) before Windows recognizes the key press. The trackpad works perfectly otherwise, even tapping for a left click on the pad itself works great. It doesn't feel like there is something under the button, but I do believe it is hardware related as this behavior persisted through a fresh install of Windows (ie. Windows install when I got the laptop and the reinstalled Windows). It was also present during the Windows install GUI which leads me to think it is hardware related somehow. Any ideas on what the problem could be? I thought this may be a common issue with a solution somehwere on the net but I have yet to find one... Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

At the top of the screen, it says "No issues have been detected by Security and Maintenance." When I open the Security list, it shows that the firewall and antivirus are both on.

These messages are truly annoying. Can I stop them without disabling legitimate messages about security? Thanks.

You do not find it in Power Options to change power button from doing it? Only know ways if using an external USB device. Should be a sleep button or one of the F buttons or Fn.

Hi All,

I have a computer that I use as a server with an Asus motherboard (P5GC). that recently hung,
and I had to turn off the computer using the power supply switch on the back.

Now, when I try to turn on the computer, nothing happens...the motherboard has a green light that
turns on when I switch the power supply on, but other than that nothing....
Does anyone out there know what I can do to get this computer working again????

Very desperate....any and all help is most appreciated.....thanks in advance.

I have tried shutting down my notebook but then the screen stayed blank but the light on the power button was still on. I then pressed the power button for 5 seconds so that it would turn off but it hasn't. I have tried this many times and left the notebook to sit overnight in hopes that it would sort itself out if it had crashed. However, when i woke up this morning the light was still on. It means that i can't access my notebook and turn it on if i can't even turn it off properly. The screen is staying black and hasnt changed. My notebook is brand new as i only bought it yesterday

Yesterday I bought a "N150 Netgear Wireless Micro USB Adapter WNA1000M", to give it its full name. No, this is NOT an advert, the thing is very small but very irritating - just like the donkey in Shrek. So don't buy one unless you must. No, not an advert for Shrek either - the first one was good but the follow ups were crap.

When I came to install it, after a huge amount of CD drive thrashing (why? my CD reader not good enough for you punk?) it finally gave me 120 seconds to press a button on the router (it also has a tiny button on the thing itself so there are TWO buttons to press)

Some questions:

1. How was I supposed to press a button on the router in a hotel? Especially in 120 seconds. Like a scene in a movie - "we have a 120 seconds before this thing goes off". As it happened, the router in the holiday home we are renting in Montana was accessible and I pressed every button I could see and it flashed in annoyance but the internet connection was finally made. No, this is NOT an advert for Montana either - the snow is crap right now.

2. Why does it want me to press a button on the router? When I first turned on my laptop it didn't ask me to press no button!

Thanks in anticipation
wavering
PS You can buy waverings on Amazon. Only kidding, only kidding. And yes - I am irritated at being accused of placing an advert in my first post

I have noticed that the start button (bottom left) has stopped showing anything when I hover over it, same as the action center. I cant even get the action center to open up.  Also when I right click on the start button (bottom left) I only get a limited number of options. WHat can I do to fix this? I tried contacting HP Tech Support and they were no help what so ever! Total waste of my time! Thanks in advance!

A:Start Button and Action Center not working

By not identifying your HP notebook you are not helping either one of us. Post the product number or the complete product name in your next response. Are you using some internet protection software? Did this happen after some event, such as clicking on a mail from someone you don't know or a website button? I suggest using System Restore and selecting a system checkpoint dated before the issues began. Are you familiar with the system restore utility that is part of Windows? If you are not, then perhaps you should consider using the USB recovery media that you should have created by now. You can use it to return you PC to the state it was in when it was delivered to you. Another option is to use Reset.
