I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After computer crashed, I ran WinXP reinstall CD. Of course, I lost everything that was previously loaded. I'm going again but have no sound. In Device Manager under Other Devices, Ethernet Controller & Multimedia Audio Controller are yellow question marks. I have tried the Resource CD, Dell Support/Downloads, everything I can think of and nothing is working. I am connected to the internet through the USB because the tech says I need a new ethernet card and have to connect right now through the USB. I'm lost at this point. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Just formated and reinstalled Windows XP PRO and insatalled my motherboard software. I also performed ALL updates and Service Packs from Microsoft website. I installed all the drivers including my sound card software/drivers. All is running good. The sound works and I am able to access the internet. The issue is that the Device Manager is showing that the Multimedia Audio Controller and Ethernet Controller is not confired correctly (Has yellow exclaimation mark next to it). I've attempted to correct this by reinstalling drivers, but windows cant find them on any CD I put in such as the Win XP cd and the Ethernet installation disk. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

A:Device Manager showing Multimedia Audio Controller and Ethernet Cont. not installed

When you look in the device manager double click the to devices and check the device status and see why the exclamation is there. If it says driver is not installed or installed incorrectly then try to reinstall the drivers just insert your motherboard disk and click the update driver button. Odds are if you have a sound card installed and on board sound you'll have to disable onboard sound in bios. Also the same if your using a ethernet card and have onboard ethernet connector.

just upgraded my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop from windows xp to windows 7 Home Premium. The multimedia Audio Controller and Network Controller are missing and I can't connect to the internet. How can I download these drivers to a flash drive and then install on my laptop

A:missing multimedia audio controller and network controller

Have done some looking around. From what I have found in many forums is that Vista drivers should work with Windows 7.

Post at Dell forums says the Sigma Tel Stac 975X AC97 audio driver listed for the Insperion 9300 at Dell Support will work for Vista and Windows 7. The file is a zip, so downloasd and save the file to the flashdrive. Then load it on your laptop, unzip and run it.

http://support.dell.com/support/dow...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=3&fileid=128550

None of the Netwrok dirvers at Dell Support are for Vista.

For the network controller I would suggest going to the Dell Support and find out what the original configeration was for your system. Go to this page, select Original Configeration tab and enter the Service Number for your computer. It will e on a tag on the bottom.

http://support.dell.com/support/top...nfo/details?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~tab=2&~ck=anavml

Once you get your network divices names, go to the device manufacturer's site and check for Vista/Window 7 drivers.

This is a problem that just recently popped up out of no where. One day upon startup two new pieces of hardware were found on my computer. I get prompted to install the drivers for a Raid Controller and a Multimedia Audio Controller.

Each day I cancel them and my computer runs just the same as it always does. It my Device Manager these two items show up in the "? Other devices" tab alongside a SM Bus Controller (which never prompts me to install so it doesn't really bother me).

Just wondering what these devices are, where they came from, and what I should do to solve the problem.

Thanks.

A:RAID Controller and Multimedia Audio Controller

Did you do a bios flash or reset cmos by chance?

They are probably onboard devices you can disable them in the bios. You need to check your manual; each bios is a little different as to where the items in question are located.

One more question; do you have an add-on sound card and does your systems sound work ok?

My friend who sold me the computer built it himself, and I'm not very technical so i need some help to figure out what exactly what i need to do in order for the computer to be back to normal. Hi, and welcome,

I presume you are using xp

go into control panel and click "add hardware"

if nothing happens, right click on the icon with the yellow exclamation marks and click on "update driver"

If still nothing-reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers off the disc you have-if you have it!!

If not, go to the motherboard website and look for the chipset there

use this prog to give your specs about the mobo

yes there certainly is!

what is the model of your laptop(if it is even a laptop)

easiest way is to then go to your manufacture website, search for your model. when you find it, check the drivers/download section for that model, and download whatever driver suits what operating system you use!!

A:Multimedia audio controller help

Do you have on-board or a sound card? You need to know the sound card make and model and then go to their website and download the multimedia driver package. You might try running DxDiag in the start/run window (assuming your OS is XP). Although if the drivers are uninstalled I can't be sure Dxdiag will read hardware correctly. Click on the Sound tab and at the top left side it should tell you the hardware naem for your sound card.

Maybe you need to install proper driver for you audio card.

Does this computer new? If it's usually the shop will give you CD containing drivers for the sound card. Whether it's integrated or not, there should be at least CD included, otherwise you must download from the website directly.

Do you do something yesterday that made your sound driver disappear?

We must know your system specs clearly before giving correct driver. Try to get know the basic specification and it'll help.

I cannot get my sound to work for anything, This all happened when i installed windows 7 then sound did not work so i switched back, sound continued to not work. so i have a sound card (audigy 2 zs) that i have installed the drivers for and i disabled the onboard sound card with the bios and that did not work, so i have pretty much given up on the sound card and i would just like the onboard to work, i re enabled the onboard sound card from the bios and disabled my old sound card, sound still does not work, i have tried several drivers and chipsets that were suggested to me in another thread i made on the 15th, The previous thread is here, http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista-7/860290-windows-7-no-audio-devices.html and nothing that was suggested works. Some additional information is that my microphone works completely fine when i had my sound card enabled but when i disable the sound card it no longer works and i get the below image in device manager.

I was checking around my Device Manager, and saw that the Multimedia Audio Controller was not installed. I have an Asus a8n-sli deluxe, so I checked their website and installed the latest realtek driver.

Now I have the realtek audio under sound devices, but the audio controller is still not installed.

How do I instal it and do I even need it?

A:Multimedia Audio Controller

Hi mrmojo

Do you mean to say that there is a device listed in the Device Manager sound category, and it's listed as "Multimedia Audio Controller"? . . . and does it have either a yellow exclamation point (!) or a red X next to it?

If you installed the RealTek drivers for your sound devices, and you see a sound device still listed with an exclamation point or red X, it's possible that
1) the listing is wrong - it's a leftover from not having the right driver installed (and you can right-click it & select "UnInstall" in Device Manager).
2) you have two sound devices - onboard and an add-on PCI card (Disable the one you're not using in Device Manager) [or a joystick, or other external multimedia device]
3) the driver isn't the right one, or the installation of the driver didn't go well.

My first guess would be #1.

Best of luck

That sure was a lot of information, for just inquiring about your sound problems!

By what I can see, and by the way your saying it, I would feel it safe to say that this computer of yours probably doesn't have any kind of sound solution at all. May I ask what the computer should have as far as a sound card? Are there any common 2.5mm head phone jack styled plug in's anywhere in the back? Are there any "pink" and "green" colored 2.5mm jacks on the motherboard itself? If you do have those jacks, especially coming off the motherboard, I would guess you might have that sound device "deactivated" or possibly "uninstalled"! If it just comes down to the fact that you indeed don't have any sort of sound card at all, I would suggest opening up you computer case, remove the side panel, without touching anything inside I would see if you have yourself an available PCI slot! If you do, than I would suggest that you purchase yourself a decent sound card.

The following are some possible options, seeing that the computer dates back to 2008, I'm not recommending anything "cutting edge"! Just enough sound card to get you by!

After years of running smoothly, Windows Media Player is suddenly refusing to play some music files, and marks them with a red x. That refers me to the Microsoft page Windows Media Player Error Message Help. After reading that, my symptoms seem most likely to be a problem with either a codec or the Creative SB Audigy 4 sound card. Personally I suspect a codec problem, but I don't know how to confirm this.

ALSO: When I go into the Device Manager, I see a yellow question mark next to Other Devices/Multimedia Audio Controller. There is no information in Properties about the manufacturer.

A yellow marking in Device Manager...indicates that the drivers for that device need to be reinstalled.

Hi everyone. I'm new and need help. I recently had my PC hard drive replaced and have nearly everything rebuilt and reconfigured, except for the sound card. Device Manager shows a big yellow question mark by "Other Devices". When I expand it, it shows "Multimedia Audio Controller". It says the drivers are not installed and I am unable to locate one. I purchased this PC a few years ago and still have original box with CDs. Unfortunately, I think they forgot to give me the driver to my audio and I recently found out the company that built my PC is no longer in business. Under "Resouces" in Device Manage, it says: "Input/Output Range D800 - D83F". Other than that, it's pretty much a dead end for me. Can anyone advise me on how to obtain the driver without having to purchase another sound card?

Hello sysprogr,

You can download driver via internet.

Ca you tell us what kind of computer you have, what operating system, what kind of audio card do you have.
Is there a chance that your audio card lost connection from the motherboard?

After reformatting my HD, can't find the driver for my sound card. (Using Win XP) There is a yellow question mark in Device manager beside Multimedia Audio Controller.

After a bit of searching found the Vendor ID is 10DE (Nvidia) and Product ID is 026B. So it turns out the deivce is:MCP51 AC'97 Audio Controller0x10DE
Only trouble is I cannot find the driver on the nvidia website. When I try to find it elsewhere I am asked to install a Device Detective-type program which I don't want to do.

Anyway someone can help me out with this. Thanks.

if onboard sound Ac97 you need to go to the motherboard manufacturer site to get the sound drivers and controller not nvidia site

Hey

I have recently formated my friends computer and Installed a bootleg copy of Windows XP Pro since he lost all his software / manuals that came with the computer in accident. I have not been able to find much about getting this driver for the Multimedia Audio Controller. I am wondering if anyone around here could help me find the drivers I need.

Here is the computer Specs

System Model:

VIA Technologies, Inc. P4M266-8235
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Multimedia:

MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device
Standard Game Port

Operating System:

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

Processor:

1.70 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
8 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Thank you for your time and your help

A:?! Multimedia Audio Controller ?!

First thing first, get the bootleg version of Windows off there. You can get a copy of XP Home from NewEgg for like $89 OEM. If you wish to stick with Pro, you can also get a valid version for about $100 OEM then simply change the product key (google) to activate and be legal for the Genuine Advantage tool.

From there, you'll simply need to install (in this order)
1) The chipset drivers for your motheboard.
2) The audio drivers for your motherboard.

If you don't know the make/model of the motherboard, you can (web search/download) either free tool: CPU-Z or Everest.

Where can i find multimedia audio controller download? I accidenly deleted it by mistake. Now i'm paying the price without any sound. Where could i download it?

A:multimedia audio controller

You have to figure out what audio card you have first. If it's an onboard sound device, just go to the motherboard manufacturer's website, find the support section, input your model number and download the drivers.

if it's an add-in card, they should be on your CD.

If you don't know either, run windows update and it should figure out it's not working right and suggest the right driver.

If you don't know the motherboard and windows update didn't help, download and run the 'everest home' program available Here

Run and find it under 'computer' on the left hand pane, and 'motherboard' in the right.

I read 2 similar threads and still have this problem. I have an Intel D845PESV MOBO with onboard audio. I bought a SB Live 24 about 8 months ago, installed it and it ran great until a week ago. I was in the SB settings and changed the speakers and lost all audio. Now I have the yellow exclamation point in Device Manager for my multimedia audio controller. I have tried reinstalling my MOBO audio drivers and the driver for the SB with no luck. Every time I reboot it wants to install but cannot find the drivers. I am also having trouble with my DVD drives, how can I determine if this is a hardware problem and not just a driver issue?

A:Multimedia Audio Controller

added info

i had a similar problem. my sound wasnt comming from my audigy zs. although it was working b4. This is what i did to get it to work.

1)update windows xp

2)uninstall the all audio drivers, to include the SB and Onboard audio. rebot pc. wen it say found new hdwre click cancel. u should install only the SB driver from cd, DONt let the pc look for it.

3)try ur speakers in ur mobo. do u get sound? well u shouldnt if u uninstalled the onboard audio. if so there could be a conflict with the sb card u installed. go into bios N make sure to disable the onboard audio- (AC'97 i think). now u should get NO sound from mobo.

4)go into device manager N find ur onboard audio card click properties N disable use of it. this should get rid of that multiaudio controller found crap. next find ur SB card N enable use of it.

5) in the end it was as simple as changing the sound fropm digital to analog. try that.

i think for some reason i was playing wit the audio device N changed the settings from analog to digital. it should be analog. also check N make sure ur speakers work.

good luck.

Hi all,
I recenty formatted my TIME laptop and now don't have any sound.
In Device Manager, it states that there isn't a Multimedia Audio Controller detected.
This is where the problem starts as I had the motherboard replaced a few years ago. It was replaced with a pattern MITAC board and no drivers were supplied after the repair.
I ran Everest on the laptop to see if I could get any details but none showed.
Is there a generic controller out there that will work?

Thanks for any replies.

A:Multimedia Audio Controller

There aren't any generic drivers, if you really don't know what you have you could try installing drivers until one of them works. Start with Realtek (www.realtek.com.tw), they make most of the onboard sound chips. Failing that, you could try VIA (www.viaarena.com) or SoundMAX.
