I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After computer crashed, I ran WinXP reinstall CD. Of course, I lost everything that was previously loaded. I'm going again but have no sound. In Device Manager under Other Devices, Ethernet Controller & Multimedia Audio Controller are yellow question marks. I have tried the Resource CD, Dell Support/Downloads, everything I can think of and nothing is working. I am connected to the internet through the USB because the tech says I need a new ethernet card and have to connect right now through the USB. I'm lost at this point. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Just formated and reinstalled Windows XP PRO and insatalled my motherboard software. I also performed ALL updates and Service Packs from Microsoft website. I installed all the drivers including my sound card software/drivers. All is running good. The sound works and I am able to access the internet. The issue is that the Device Manager is showing that the Multimedia Audio Controller and Ethernet Controller is not confired correctly (Has yellow exclaimation mark next to it). I've attempted to correct this by reinstalling drivers, but windows cant find them on any CD I put in such as the Win XP cd and the Ethernet installation disk. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

A:Device Manager showing Multimedia Audio Controller and Ethernet Cont. not installed

When you look in the device manager double click the to devices and check the device status and see why the exclamation is there. If it says driver is not installed or installed incorrectly then try to reinstall the drivers just insert your motherboard disk and click the update driver button. Odds are if you have a sound card installed and on board sound you'll have to disable onboard sound in bios. Also the same if your using a ethernet card and have onboard ethernet connector.

just upgraded my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop from windows xp to windows 7 Home Premium. The multimedia Audio Controller and Network Controller are missing and I can't connect to the internet. How can I download these drivers to a flash drive and then install on my laptop

A:missing multimedia audio controller and network controller

Have done some looking around. From what I have found in many forums is that Vista drivers should work with Windows 7.

Post at Dell forums says the Sigma Tel Stac 975X AC97 audio driver listed for the Insperion 9300 at Dell Support will work for Vista and Windows 7. The file is a zip, so downloasd and save the file to the flashdrive. Then load it on your laptop, unzip and run it.

http://support.dell.com/support/dow...-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=3&fileid=128550

None of the Netwrok dirvers at Dell Support are for Vista.

For the network controller I would suggest going to the Dell Support and find out what the original configeration was for your system. Go to this page, select Original Configeration tab and enter the Service Number for your computer. It will e on a tag on the bottom.

http://support.dell.com/support/top...nfo/details?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~tab=2&~ck=anavml

Once you get your network divices names, go to the device manufacturer's site and check for Vista/Window 7 drivers.

This is a problem that just recently popped up out of no where. One day upon startup two new pieces of hardware were found on my computer. I get prompted to install the drivers for a Raid Controller and a Multimedia Audio Controller.

Each day I cancel them and my computer runs just the same as it always does. It my Device Manager these two items show up in the "? Other devices" tab alongside a SM Bus Controller (which never prompts me to install so it doesn't really bother me).

Just wondering what these devices are, where they came from, and what I should do to solve the problem.

Thanks.

A:RAID Controller and Multimedia Audio Controller

Did you do a bios flash or reset cmos by chance?

They are probably onboard devices you can disable them in the bios. You need to check your manual; each bios is a little different as to where the items in question are located.

One more question; do you have an add-on sound card and does your systems sound work ok?

I looked under device manger and it is listed that my multimedia controller and multimedia video controller are not working and have exclamation point and question marks under other devices. My friend who sold me the computer built it himself, and I'm not very technical so i need some help to figure out what exactly what i need to do in order for the computer to be back to normal. Hi, and welcome,

I presume you are using xp

go into control panel and click "add hardware"

if nothing happens, right click on the icon with the yellow exclamation marks and click on "update driver"

If still nothing-reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers off the disc you have-if you have it!!

If not, go to the motherboard website and look for the chipset there

use this prog to give your specs about the mobo

Can Anyone tell me where I can find drivers for an Intel D845PE onboard sound multimedia audio controller. I installed a new sound card but found that the only way I can use my headphones is if I unplug where my speakers are connected and plug in my headphones. That is not so terrible. It is just the fact that the connection is in the rear of the computer. NOT GOOD!! So I am going to use my onboard sound for the headphones and the other for, well, the other sounds.

After years of running smoothly, Windows Media Player is suddenly refusing to play some music files, and marks them with a red x. That refers me to the Microsoft page Windows Media Player Error Message Help. After reading that, my symptoms seem most likely to be a problem with either a codec or the Creative SB Audigy 4 sound card. Personally I suspect a codec problem, but I don't know how to confirm this.

ALSO: When I go into the Device Manager, I see a yellow question mark next to Other Devices/Multimedia Audio Controller. There is no information in Properties about the manufacturer.

Long story short, I had to do a complete reinstall of Windows XP and install the drivers manually.

I am down to one driver known as "Multimedia Audio Controller". I downloaded and installed the driver but got a message saying it did not have the Windows Logo but I proceeded anyway. This led to the blue screen of death so I started all over again.

The info I have on it is "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24C5...". I have run Everest HE and it lists as Intel 82801DBM ICH4-M - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-1]. The chipset is Intel Montara-G i852GM/i852GME, etc.

I can only run in Safe Mode so I am unable to start the windows audio in services or connect to the internet. Also, when I try to update the BIOS utility, I receive the following message: DEBUG - Create File () returns 2.

When I try to load in any mode other than Safe, the computer freezes on the Windows startup logo or on mup.sys.

My computer is an IBM Thinkpad R51 - 2888 - CTO.

Any help in getting it running again would be much appreciated.

I have installed some "soundmax" drivers and they restart my computer after they load, but then when i check the device manager it still shows Multimedia Audio Controller w/ a ?-mark.... and my computer still has no audio...

Besides the Multimedia Audio Controller, the only other yellow ?-mark is for a "PCI Modem", so i think i covered every other basis as far as reinstalling drivers.

After I accidentally bumped the computer, the screen turned blue and the computer restarted. After it restarted, nothing seems wrong, but the sounds. I went to Device Manager and See that there's an unknown driver and it's called MultiMedia Audio Controller. I'm guessing this is the sound driver that My Computer or Windows doesnt recognize, because i tried installing it.

To find out what this driver is, which is apparently my sound card, i used aida32 and found out it is sis pci 7012 sound driver. i've downloaded the driver installation pack and tried to install the driver. unfortunately, when i start the installation it comes up with "file not found ( )"..

what is missing and what should i do?

A:Multimedia Audio Controller

If this worked before the bump I'd be looking at reseating the sound card and also reseating all of your other slotted cards. I'd also check the seating of your RAM modules too. If the sound card is not seated correctly driver installation will continue to give you errors.

Hi everyone! It's me again, begging for your help...I know this isn't about viruses and all, like most problems on this site. But this is the only site I trust becuase it's helped me so many times before.Anyway, to the point. I was cleaning out some of the useless old games to free up some space on my computer. But I guess I accidentally uninstalled something called the Multimedia Audio COntroller. Now, even when my speakers are on, I can't hear a thing. Not the bells from windows pop-ups, not my music. Now when I try to use many programs, they wont open and pop-up mith messages like "GTA SA cannot find audio card installed" or "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly."When I first opened my computer, it said that they detected the "New Hardware." But when I install it, it says it can't find the proper programs/software to install it. BUT MY SPEAKERS DIDN'T COME WITH SOFTWARE! I googled my speakers (Kensiko KS-200) and didn't come up with anything but e-bay. My speakers are old, and Kensiko doesn't even have an official website. I don't know where to start. Can I just download this Multimedia Audio COntroller thing?Moderator Edit: Moved topic to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I was checking around my Device Manager, and saw that the Multimedia Audio Controller was not installed. I have an Asus a8n-sli deluxe, so I checked their website and installed the latest realtek driver.

Now I have the realtek audio under sound devices, but the audio controller is still not installed.

How do I instal it and do I even need it?

A:Multimedia Audio Controller

Hi mrmojo

Do you mean to say that there is a device listed in the Device Manager sound category, and it's listed as "Multimedia Audio Controller"? . . . and does it have either a yellow exclamation point (!) or a red X next to it?

If you installed the RealTek drivers for your sound devices, and you see a sound device still listed with an exclamation point or red X, it's possible that
1) the listing is wrong - it's a leftover from not having the right driver installed (and you can right-click it & select "UnInstall" in Device Manager).
2) you have two sound devices - onboard and an add-on PCI card (Disable the one you're not using in Device Manager) [or a joystick, or other external multimedia device]
3) the driver isn't the right one, or the installation of the driver didn't go well.

My first guess would be #1.

Best of luck
. . . Gary

A:multimedia audio controller

You have to figure out what audio card you have first. If it's an onboard sound device, just go to the motherboard manufacturer's website, find the support section, input your model number and download the drivers.

if it's an add-in card, they should be on your CD.

If you don't know either, run windows update and it should figure out it's not working right and suggest the right driver.

If you don't know the motherboard and windows update didn't help, download and run the 'everest home' program available Here

Run and find it under 'computer' on the left hand pane, and 'motherboard' in the right.

Hi all,
I recenty formatted my TIME laptop and now don't have any sound.
In Device Manager, it states that there isn't a Multimedia Audio Controller detected.
This is where the problem starts as I had the motherboard replaced a few years ago. It was replaced with a pattern MITAC board and no drivers were supplied after the repair.
I ran Everest on the laptop to see if I could get any details but none showed.
Is there a generic controller out there that will work?

Thanks for any replies.

A:Multimedia Audio Controller

There aren't any generic drivers, if you really don't know what you have you could try installing drivers until one of them works. Start with Realtek (www.realtek.com.tw), they make most of the onboard sound chips. Failing that, you could try VIA (www.viaarena.com) or SoundMAX.

A:Multimedia Audio Controller...

Hi giddyup 123456.Welcome to BleepingComputer. This is a fairly common problem. Have a look here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/174668/sound-not-working-after-a-reformat/It is a matter of tracking down the correct driver for your multimedia, Realtek, Foxconn, C-Media or similar. A program such as EVEREST from www.oldversion.com will help you find it.If you have trouble, post back with your make and model.Let us know how you get on.Cheers(Checked up on your motherboard and you probably have Realtek AC-97, in which case you need WDM-R206.exe which is the 3rd one down in the WINDOWS box herehttp://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downlo...;GetDown=false)Good luck

i was going through my add/remove programs and my computer just resently got fixed by this local business and had to rebuild somethings inside it (was what they said). So i saw something i didn't really recognize and i got rid of it it dodn't look important called soundmax something and ever since i have had no sound and i went to add hardware(the mulitmedia audio controler was the only one that it said wasn't installed) and tried to have the computer install it on it's own but it says driver not found (code 28) cannot install.
So i went on the internet and found the program and iat the last stage of installation it says = driver not found reboot system and run setup again.??
so is there anybody that can help me out with this little problem?

Hi everyone
New to the board and desperately need your help.
I was recently cleaning up my comp when I managed to uninstall my sound.
In devices I now have a yellow exclamation mark and when I turn the computer on it tells me that I have new hardware, connects me to the www to download the driver but fails. Unfortunately I cannot find the discs that came with the pc.
Can anyone help me please? I'm afraid I really need talking through it step by step! My computer is an Emachine 2230
Thanks in Advance

Sam x

The driver for your sound card should be on a cd that came with your pc, getting hold of emachines drivers any other way can be very difficult!!!!

I would advise you to go out and buy a new psu before the one you have now goes and takes the mobo (motherboard) with it!!!!

Yesterday I was going through "add/remove programs" in control panel and deleting some programs that I never or rarely use. I accidentally deleted a program (I think it was a sound driver) and now my computer won't play music or make any sound. Every time I turn it on it says it has found new hardware, "multimedia audio controller" and it wants to install it but it can't find the necessary software on my computer for this to work.

I tried using system restore to rectify this problem but unfortunately I'd deleted so many miscellaneous programs that I couldn't go back far enough to when I'd deleted the audio controller.

Any help would be much appreciated as I'm getting really wound up and panicky about this whole thing. If prompted I can provide more information but I wasn't sure what things anyone helping me would need to know.

Thanks

I have gone to Sony but I am unable to find a Multimedia Audio Controller driver.I have no sound and there is a yellow mark in device manager by other devices. I have tried to down load the drivers. I am told no drivers can be found.Any help with this problem?

The driver Sony supplies for that model is here:http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-downl...134&os_id=7however if the driver from the CD won't install, a different sound card may have been installed in the system.Does the speaker connection be in a block aligned vertically along the rear right-hand side with keyboard/mouse/modem/network connections, or lower down the case in the horizontal set of cut-outs where peripheral cards can be fitted?

That sure was a lot of information, for just inquiring about your sound problems!

By what I can see, and by the way your saying it, I would feel it safe to say that this computer of yours probably doesn't have any kind of sound solution at all. May I ask what the computer should have as far as a sound card? Are there any common 2.5mm head phone jack styled plug in's anywhere in the back? Are there any "pink" and "green" colored 2.5mm jacks on the motherboard itself? If you do have those jacks, especially coming off the motherboard, I would guess you might have that sound device "deactivated" or possibly "uninstalled"! If it just comes down to the fact that you indeed don't have any sort of sound card at all, I would suggest opening up you computer case, remove the side panel, without touching anything inside I would see if you have yourself an available PCI slot! If you do, than I would suggest that you purchase yourself a decent sound card.

The following are some possible options, seeing that the computer dates back to 2008, I'm not recommending anything "cutting edge"! Just enough sound card to get you by!
