Composite audio driver issues when using Skype usb headset

Q: Composite audio driver issues when using Skype usb headset

Hello,

I bought a skype Everyman USB Headset and it was sent by Instore, both of them are shockingly horrendous for support, in fact i asked for a full refund and return delivery of product the product a week ago and I'm still awaiting feedback.

Basically when i plug it into my usb port, it plays for upto 30 seconds and begins to click, no other volume can be heard apart from this clicking noise, after a minute the headset disconnects altogether.

I have spent since start of January trying to mend this issue and have finally narrowed it down to a composite audio driver within vista called - Port_#0002.Hub_#0005

If i disable that driver, then the headset does not work at all which in one sense is great because it means i found the controlling audio driver for the headset.

I have Googled and Googled and cannot find an answer how to fix this.

Here is the community support request at Skype that i started, after being pushed off by Instore, i only provide this link for further information.

Everyman USB Headset - Skype Community

I have:
Vista Home Premium 32Bit SP2

I have tried:
Uninstalling and reinstalling all audio driver,
Uninstall, disable old drivers and install a new standalone audio bus driver,
Tried using headset with XP laptop which worked fine with no issues at all
Smashing it against the wall repeatedly before using my head (kidding) lol

Any help or information from the great team here would be brilliant,
Thanks in advanced

regards

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Anyone? lol

I got my refund and i get to keep the headset however i would like the headset to work, they are actually not bad, tried them in my laptop but i don't need them for my laptop (windows 7).

I tried copying over most of the drivers and reg keys to my pc but that did nothing at all....

I bought a bluetooth headset with microphone and only works on multimedia in HP Windows 7 Home Premium
64-bit but not with Skype. There is no stereo sound, microphone doesn't work and sound can be selected as
mono device only on Skype settings. I also set it up on advanced audio settings in Skype to remain and use
the bluetooth headset and microphone when bluetooth headset is on and automatically go to speakers if bluetooth headset is off. But when i reboot the computer the audio settings return to speakers and built it laptop microphone. This doesn't happen to my desktop pc. I also configured in Windows audio settings the headset to be the first selected device for audio and microphone when is on. The headset is Silvercrest SBTH-4.0 A1. I also tried it with Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter as the headset requires bluetooth 4.0 to work but not helped. I also
installed CSR Harmony 2.0 bluetooth stack and the Stereo option appeared to Skype for sound but not for microphone. What should i do?

Hi, I have several users that are experiencing audio issues when trying to use Skype for Business 2016.   The issue is that when they Skype call out to a contact their mic and speakers or just microphone will not work.   The microphone not working is the most common issue.   However, they can have a contact call them and their microphone and speakers will function normally.  Here are the steps that I've tried to correct the issue: Quick Repair of Office 2016.Full Repair of Office 2016.Full removal of all Office products and reinstall of Office 2016.Update to latest sound drivers Conexant ISST Audio 9.0.100.99 -- this causes both microphone and speakers to not function at all.Revert sound drivers for Conexant ISST Audio to 9.0.100.63 -- this allows for the user to be able to recieve Skype calls but not be able to make Skype calls.Full removal of all sound drivers - restart - allow Microsoft to reinstall drivers.None of the items above have fully corrected the issue and it appears to be a specific issue with the Conexant ISST Audio drivers used by HP. Any ideas on how to correct this issue? Thank you!

I’m using a new laptop (Lenovo Z50) with Windows 8.1. I am trying to use the sharing screen option on Skype to simultaneously watch a video with someone. I am playing the video on my laptop. The other person cannot hear the audio. She can see the video fine. I can see the video and hear the audio on my laptop fine. The problem is the transfer of audio to her computer from my laptop via Skype.

I have been trying to google a solution. It is possible that the problem MAY be related to my new laptop not having a “Stereo Mix” sound option. My new laptop has “Conexant SmartAudio HD.” There are no other sound options for my current laptop, and I have enabled “show disabled options” in the Control Panel to be sure.

Looking around online, I am not the only person with this problem. Skype needs to come up with an easily applied solution or else its screen sharing option is simply rendered useless. And if the fix isn't easy, then a very thorough step-by-step set of instructions needs to be supplied (we are not all comp sci engineers).

We tried deleting audio drivers, Reinstalled Realtek, and just did about basically anything. We also used DDU to reinstall everything so I have NO idea what to work with here. I just want to point out that in the sound settings, it is showing that it's making sound, well at least the computer thinks it does, but it doesn't produce sound on my headset. Hi all,

I am running an Asus M5A97EVO board on Windows 7 64bit. I run a Logitech G35 headset. So, I left out of province for work last year and was away for 8 months, once I returned I had a Hard drive failure and had to re-install windows on a new harddrive.

I cant recall exactly but I think the following issues came up after the install, they were definantly not there before I went away for work.

I play a PC racing game that uses audio
I use Teamspeak
I listen to Windows Media
I watch YouTube

I used to be able to do all 4 of these at once if I choose to. Now, If I have teamspeak open its hard to get my racing game going, sometimes I have to shutdown teamspeak, then get the game going then try teamspeak again. I cant listen to windows media and youtube videos wont load when I have my game and teamspeak running. If I close them, everything else works normally.

Its like I can only use 1 - 2 audio items at once, its really weird and I am at a loss as to what might be causing this.

Hopefully I have included enough information, anything else let me know and ill get it for you.

Hi everyone,
I am having a problem with the Realtek microphone in Skype.
The symptoms are as follows:
Shortly after beginning of the conversation the other party cannot hear my voice. Video is fine, the voice of the other party is also fine.
When this happens the microphone green bar in Options/audio settings will not be seen when speaking into it.
However I can hear what's spoken into the microphone in the local speakers.
I uninstalled the microphone in manager, re-installed the driver, did not help.
Uninstalled the Realtek hi-def audio driver. This helped first but then after 4 minutes talking the problem returned again.

I can see that when this happens the speaker icon in
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\manage audio devices\recording\microphone\microphone properties\levels
is crossed out. If I uncross it and put boost and level above zero the other party can hear me again.
This happens spontaneously, by itself. Even without Skype running, so this is why I think it might be a driver problem.

Any ideas? (please no "reinstalled driver" advice - has done so multiple times)

Hello

So three days ago I wiped all of my drives and installed Windows 10. I have a Corsair Vengenace 2100 headset. I installed the realtek drivers from ASUS download section for my motherboard and then I installed the headset drivers.

The problem is that my headset does not record anything through the microphone if I set it to be the default device for audio output. If I have my other computer speakers as the default output device my microphone works just fine.

This goes for all the USBs in the back of the motherboard. The headset works just great if I plug in the wireless reciever in the front of the computer.

I have tried to reinstall the drivers multiple times and checked a bunch of different settings in the sound manager in windows but nothing seems to work.

Have also googled all kinds of things but nothing seems to relate to my problem.

I do not have any external sound card plugged into my computer.

Thanks for any help provided!

EDIT: Can be closed as I found the win 10 forum after I made the thread. Sorry!

HELLO TO ALL !

A:Installed new USB Headset NOW no speaker audio even if I unplug the headset

Yeah, my USB headset was a little weird at first as well.

Try going into your volume control (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control):
1. Click Options
2. Properties
3. Change the mixer device from the USB headset to your speakers.

Should work.

Also should note you can change the output settings in most audio software (for example: Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.) so if you can't hear anything from your speakers when using those programs, try fiddling with those settings as well. I know for Winamp it's Options > Preferences > Plug-ins > Output > double-click the plug-in you use (mine is out_ds.dll) and again change it to your speakers using the drop down menu.

I can't figure out how to fix this. I noticed that, when I'm watching a video, my headset's mic will relay the audio coming into my headset. Disabling Stereo Mix doesn't fix it. The physical controller that's on my headset cable doesn't stop it from happening, as even if I turn the volume knob all the way down and flick the mute switch, it's still picking up the audio. Muting my headset from within the computer stops the mic from hearing it, as does switching to my speakers that are plugged into the front jack. My headset is a 3.5mm jack type plugged into the back of the computer, directly into the motherboard.

I have an "IOGEAR Micro USB Plus KVM" switch that has always been recognized as a "Generic Hub" and a "USB composite device". Connected to the KVM I have a "Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 6000 v3" keyboard and a "Logitech MX Revolution" mouse, which are also considered composite devices.

When trying to install the update, the installation would sometimes fail with error codes of "Time out" and "Out of Items".

Regaurdless if it failed or succeeded, the original driver would get replaced. The KVM switch would now be recognized as a "USB composite device (dc3d)" yet regaurdless what I had connected to it (USB wireless or not), nothing would work.

The KVM switch basically would not work anymore. Shutting down Vista caused a BSOD (with some STOP error of TIMEOUT). And Vista could not startup unless the KVM Switch was unplugged. To fix this I uninstalled the driver (removing it from the system) and the KVM switch went back to working normally.

Has anyone had this problem? Was anyone able to update this driver when using the IOGEAR KVM? Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could possible get this update working properly?

I'm unable to install this update without the KVM being plugged in, which might be what's causing the problem. Either way, it's not a big deal, though I would like to get the update installed since it does have some updates for the latest USB composite devices.

A:USB Composite Device (dc3d) KVM Issues

Keeping the KVM switch plugged into the system was infact the problem. Since both my keyboard and mouse are considered "composite devices", I figured I'd use them instead to update. And sure enough it worked!

So, if you installed the update and devices stopped working or the update failed, then you need to uninstall the driver to revert back. Below are the steps I took:Plug ur USB keyboard and mouse into the computer (not the kvm)Plug in the KVM switch (or w/e composite device is giving you trouble)Open the "Device Manager" found in Control PanelExpand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and double click the the "USB composite Device (dc3d)" itemSelect the "Driver" tab and click "Uninstall"Check "Delete the driver software for this device" and click "OK"Unplug the KVM switch while it's trying to uninstall (else the uninstall will never finish)Once you restart your computer, you can then try to perform the update again. Below are the steps I used to get it to work properly:Unplug the composite device that was giving you trouble previously.Plug other composite devices to your system that might work (in my case, I left my USB keyboard and mouse plugged directly into my system).Install the update (if failed and things stop working, revert back to the previous steps). So far, the only thing I know that causes trouble for the update is the:

Then, I went to Skype some more later and I could hardly hear the other person through the headset. I have checked all my settings and they seem correct. But, I get garbled sound from the speakers and low sound from the headset.

Any ideas what's going on?

Ok guys I'm having an issue getting my bluetooth headset to go live within win7, specifically Skype.

Everything registers in Skype for the bluetooth, but no audio is heard or given, so I'm assuming there is an issue in the control panel some where.

I have the Jabra Go 6430, it connects to my cell phone (iPhone) & softphone(Skype) its a brand new headset that came out a couple of weeks ago & I'm really impressed with the overall quality.

The rep at Jabra said I should be able to also hear audio from WMP through it & that if I can configure the system with WMP, skype should fall into place.

So is anyone familiar with setting up bluetooth headsets in win7?

I need to use Skype for the first time. Also I would like to be able to play mp3's and video files at night so I don't disturb roommates. I do play COD4MP and I think you won't be able to get game sound if I plan on doing online chat with COD4. I rather just hear the normal sounds of the game.

I was looking at this product with these specification:

Micro Broadcaster Pro Multimedia Headset with Microphone

Quote:
The Broadcaster Pro Multimedia Headset with Microphone is designed to provide studio quality sound technology to your music, gaming, and video teleconferencing environment. The omni-directional microphone is voice recognition and internet phone capable for interactive gaming over the internet or other multimedia applications.
Specifications:
Manufacturer Warranty- Limited Lifetime Warranty
Device Color- Black
Microphone- Integrated microphone
Controls- Volume control
Speakers- Left and Right
Sound Output Mode- Stereo
Response Bandwidth- 20 Hz to 20 KHz
Impedance- 32 ohms
Included Cables- 6 foot cable
Ports/Connectors Required- Requires (1) 3.5mm audio out jack and (1) 3.5mm microphone jack

PS- I have a pretty good sound system but I don't' want to be disruptive of my roommates so I prefer something like this just for the nights I stay up late.

Or any other recommendations on a tiny budget, max $20.00. I hope I'm not asking for a miracle, LOL

A:Headset for Skype/Movie/Gaming

$20 is not much for a "quality" headset/mic. For $20 you are only going to get a "cheapo" model. You need "closed back" type headphones to minimize others hearing it.

Hi,

I've been reading on this topic for days now and not getting anywhere.

I have SoundMax and want only voice communication to go to my headset at *all times*. Everything else I want going to my external speakers at *all times*.

I'd like to not have to plug and unplug the 3.5mm jacks each time.

I've read up and saw that installing the latest Realtek drivers would solve the issue but it hasn't gotten me anywhere and now after finding this website today and registering I see that Realtek is a major problem spot.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction here?

Thanks.

p.s. system specs are updated.

A:All sounds to external speakers *except* Skype and Voipwise to headset

Maybe your voice comm software is not being recognized as a voice comm software, and thus not being redirected. I know Skype has audio out settings where you can set where to ring, play and listen, but I have no idea about Voipwise.

I can get audio only when I connect earphones.
I tried to uninstall the audio driver (Conexant smartaudio HD), and windows 7 automaticaly installs High Definition Audio Device. When I did that the speakers worked, but there was no sound when I connected the earphones. When I reinstall conexant it happens again - no sound from speakers, only from earphones.
Tried reinstalling several times, tried updating the driver, I even formatted my computer and nothing helped.

Please help me find a solution.
thanks.

Hi, this is my first time posting and I thought i could solve this issue but its really starting to annoy me. Basically when you change the volume in youtube or similar things like spotify, even if its almost silent, the sound becomes louder on its own. The volume on youtube will remain on almost silent but the sound becomes full volume again if that makes sense. Please help

In the past week I've been having issues with my speakers. For some reason they do not seem to detect my audio drivers. My little speaker icon displays "no audio output device is installed". I've tried many things, but they all seem to fail. I've tried restarting my computer, reformatting my computer, updating my audio driver, uninstalling and reinstalling my audio driver, downloading the newest update from my computer manufacturer's website, downloading the drivers directly from the Realtek website. For a while, downloading the drivers from the realtek website worked, but my computer would crash and then the sound would fail again. I've tried reinstalling the realtek hd audio driver through the device manager, but it gives me an error and says it can't install. I'm not sure what to do anymore, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Latest windows update changed my audio drivers. Have uninstalled and reinstalled original Realtek drivers. I have sound, but my mission critical recording application Total Recorder which picks up stream from sound card no longer works. Unable to rollback to former drivers. Restore point is disabled by default on Win 10. Had an identical problem which Dell got to work after last update, no longer works.

Updated from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on HP Envy 700-147c desktop. The transition was smooth but I just noticed that I cannot control the Beats Audio Settings at all. I can use the Basic Windows to control audio in general but I cannot run the test from the Beats Control Panel at all...! A fix from HP would be appreciated. The same issue also occured on My HP G6 Notebook  IDT SRS control panel when I upgraded from Win.7 to Win.10 I hope the software engineers are reading this discussion board...

Hi there @BaltoSid, I understand that you have had a problem with the Beats audio after upgrading to Windows 10. I am happy to help. There are a few things you can try, other than patience. Most drivers are now being delivered using the Windows update function, however you can try to update a driver from within the Device Manager, and let Windows look for the right update, or you can try the HP support Assistant. If neither of those work for you, you may want to go back temporarily to your previous operating system until updates are available, if you need that functionality right now. HP Support Assistant

So, I transitioned flawlessly to Windows 10 on release day in 2015, everything was working flawlessly, beside the odd intermittent bug of little relevance.

Now 1 year later things have been a lot less enjoyable. During this time of consistent updates, I've had numerous issues that have come and gone. The latest of these is audio related, and are more annoying than anything else that I felt I had to share my experiences with it thus far.

Every day recently, I boot my computer and there is no audio coming from the HDMI output on my graphics card(s). Device manager shows the driver as being fine, troubleshooting finds no problems, and the sound settings claims "This device is working fine". I then proceed a process of elimination. I reboot my PC and/or my AV receiver, still nothing.

So you'd probably be thinking this is an HDMI issue. Well, you'd be wrong.

I try a variety of other audio devices and outputs, and still no sound. On every occasion however, I have plugged in some USB headphones, only for the sound settings to not default to those like it has done since owning them. On two occasions this has even mocked me, by then playing audio via HDMI into my AV receiver instead.

This is not driver related, and a google search has been little to no good, as there is absolutely no information or help regarding audio besides the usual "device manager" workarounds that people like to share on YouTube, which only helps those with driver troubles, and is still... Read more

Go to Control Panel/Sound/Playback Devices. Select your HDMI audio, and move it to first device and set it as Default audio device.

Hello All, I recently decided to reinstall Vista home premium 32 bit with a formatted drive, and everything has been going great... until I tried to reinstall the audio drivers for my motherboard. These same drivers worked just great before, and I'm unsure why they are causing issues now.

Specifically, this is for a P5N32-E SLI mother board with the sound add on that comes with it. Vista recognizes the audio component as a "PCI Device" and cannot find any drivers automatically for it. The motherboard CD, when attempting to install the sound drivers, says something along the lines of "Your hardware does not appear to be compatible with this driver software."

When I installed these drivers when I first bought the motherboard, vista simply recognized the drivers off of the motherboard CD and installed it automatically. No such dice this time around

Any ideas?

Heyo!So just got my Y530, and it's a great laptop, but there is an audio driver issue. When I start playing media, there is a 3 second delay between starting a video playback for example and the actual sound starting to play. The audio itself is not delayed, it's simply muted for 3 seconds. Now from what I understand, this is an issue with the Realtek driver, there is some sort of sleep function that kicks in after 10 seconds (that's what I found the default value to be on the HP forums), and it needs a few seconds to wake up again. I haven't even found a temporary solution, tried reinstalling drivers of course, and all the usual things, but nothing worked. Here is a link to the HP forums where they talk about the same issue, but I haven't managed to make their solution work:https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/3-seconds-delay-to-play-sounds-through-headphone/td-p/6... I would really appreciate if someone could help me out, or if Lenovo took the time to fix this, have a great day!

Hi, I'm experiencing audio stutters ( 1/4 of a second ) almost every youtube video I play or song I listen to. No, my CPU load is fine. I got 4GB of ram, a dual core 2.1GHz processor and windows 7 64-bit. Just bought this computer a month ago. It's a Gateway laptop and is very fast. The only thing that annoys me is this audio stutter.

I've figured out what causes it, and it's the WLAN network adapter. It's called the Atheros AR5B97 and I have the latest ones. I also updated my Conexant audio drivers too. For some reason this problem does not go away. I checked DPC Latency and I get red spikes all the time (every 5 mins). The problem is only solved once I disable the network adapter.

Can I please get some help? I've researched A LOT and it seems quite a few others have the same problem but have not solved it. Please Help!! Before I take it to Gateway repair center (which I don't want to).

I've been having trouble getting clear audio consistently with my new headset on my laptop which is currently running Windows 7. I have tried reinstalling the driver, restarting my laptop, combinations of restarting and reinstalling driver, replacing the headset (before I realised it was a computer problem), even flashed the BIOS to see if that would help, also tried using different USB ports, nothing has fixed it and if it does it lasts 5 minutes before it starts to crackle and sound quality degrades again. I cannot think of anything else that I can do to fix this. I have looked for a fix on Logitech's website which directed me to Microsoft but none of the solutions posted has fixed the problem. Headset works perfect on boyfriends computer, also running Windows 7, and my boyfriends headset (same as mine) has the same problem when plugged in to my laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

During audio calls, the person I am speaking with says that they can hear all audio created by my computer. This includes their own voice, audio from videos I might play, any movie we're watching, etc. Typically, I can hear their computer's audio as well. This happens when using Skype, Facebook Messenger, etc.

What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

Motherboard - ASUS SK8N
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 FX-51 (2.20GHz)
Memory - 2 Gigs Corsair PC3200
Video - 512 nvidia 7600GS
Sound Card - Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platnium Pro
So here is my problem fellas/ladies,

Currently I have no sound in Vista. I goto Device manager and 3 yellow "!" show up, which are:

I tried having vista find them online, but no luck :/. (Tried the CD's from my asus motherboard and sound blaster card but their highest compatability with windows was XP)

I also tried going to NVIDIA looking for the NForce3 Pro 150 chipset drivers, but i couldn't locate them. Any ideas how to tackle this issue?

-Thanks for the help everyone
