I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just got a new elite x2 1012 G1 and it came with the wacom digitizer pen.  The pen does not work when trying to write.  It is paired to the tablet and I can see it connected.  Any ideas as to why the pen does not write on the tablet.  Touching the screen with finger works.

I have an Elite X2 1012 and the travel keyboard has stopped working. It just completely stopped working one day. I went out and bought a new one, but it does not work also. Now I am at a loss. Any ideas? If I plug in a wireless keyboard and mouse it works fine. The on screen keyboard works. But the most important travel keyboard does nothing. The only way I can even tell it is alive is by pressing the "caps lock" key repeatedly and the light on that key flashes for a brief moment. But that is it.

During a routine Windows update my Elite x2 1012 G1 stopped responding, after a considerable time it was obvious that it was not going to continue so I pressed the power button for 15 seconds to force a reboot. When I tried to turn the device back on, it would not start. The Caps Lock and Num Lock light flash approximately once every 10 seconds, the keyboard backlights come on then fade off over about 15 seconds and continue that loop. If I plug a power cable in, the power light flashes orange then pulses white but apart from that there is no other activity. I have tried disconnecting all devices including the keyboard, having the power cable plugged in and unplugged, pressing the power button for 45 seconds and the final suggestion I read was to leave the device in with keyboard attached in the 'on' state (caps lock and numlock flashing, keyboard backlight pulsing) until the battery drained, then insert the power and reboot. That was over night and still no response this morning. I have since found this link to a BIOS updat that may proactively fix the issues, but I can't start the device to flash the BIOS : HP Document c05074007 How do I get my device started again?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which docking station I should use so that I can get my 34 wide screen monitor connected to the Elite X2 with full resolution, 3440x1440. I was looking at the Wireless Doc with wigig but was told this and the connected doc would only support the max resolution of the Elite x2. I'm confused as the wireless doc should have a graphics device in it to achieve what you need. I have looked at other company's docks as well and I'm now just......perplexed and please help.

I'm looking for some help on how to PXE boot an Elite x2 1012 G1 tablet with a HP Elite USB-C Docking Station for SCCM 2012 OSD. Everything we have tried has not worked and the BIOS doesn't recognize the docking station's Ethernet port. Thanks, Michael

A:HP Elite x2 1012 G1 PXE Boot

Hi Michael, did you see the support advisory on using PXE with the HP Elite USB-C dock here?: link I tested one and found the following worked 99% of the time to PXE boot. 1. Turn off 1012 and disconnect the USB-C dock for say 20 seconds2. Reconnect then wait for the usb c dock to sync with 1012 for about 10 seconds, notice lights on dock change pattern.3. Power 1012 on4. You may see a black screen for a bit before the HP logo appears5. At HP logo press F12 to PXE boot There is currently an updated BIOS link you can try. I suspect there will be a bios update coming to resolve this. I currently use "HP USB 3.0 to Gigabit LAN Adapter (N7P47AA)" link to PXE on the x2 1012 for SCCM 2012 R2 WinPE10 deployment. It uses the Realtek RTL8153 "Realtek USB GBE Family Controller" and  Its been 100% reliable. I havent injected any drivers as PE10(win10) already has them. Here is the driver softpack (windows 7, 8, 8.1,10) if required. link: sp73996 P.S - For anyone looking for the Win10 x64 x2 1012 SCCM client driverpack you can find it here link (For Windows 8.1 you will need to build your own barebone driverpack by installing HP SDM(HP Softpaq Download Manager) find x2 1012 and click on "Build Driver pack" and output as zip file, extract the zip and use in SCCM.

Bought mine about 11 weeks ago and it was a little wonky from the start, nothing major, just a few minor issues which I didn't want to RMA immediately since they were not that much of a big deal. The power buitton often did not react properly.  In the beginning it was 1-2 presses for the tablet to activate, in the last 2 weeks it got worse to 3-4 presses before one would register. I did not immediately RMA it, since the issue was not that bad in the beginning.A couple of weeks ago the sound chip stopped working, the whole chip was gone from the device manager. The drivers could no longer be installed with the HP tool or from the device manager. Manually downloading and installing them fixed this. The real issue began last saturday: friday evening I did some work in tablet mode, with the keyboard undocked and then turned it off. On saturday I turned it on again - and my 1012 took forever to boot, there were no scheduled updates or anything. It just stuck at the hp logo for minutes before reaching the windows login. At that point I docked the keyboard and wanted to enter my password, and the presses on the keyboard buttons no longer registered. The touchpad worked however. So I rebooted and got this message, which is probably a bios error:Took a few minutes, then I reached the windows login again, and the keyboard still didn't work. At that point I tried a couple of different things, like docking on and off, booting with and without the keyboard attached, checked the connecto... Read more

I have just bought an Elite x2 1010 G1 Tablet and have followed the screen instructions to install and create a user name and logon password to WIN10.  I created a Local user because I have no idea what to do with the "Hello" logon creation - I decided to carry this out later once I was firmly logged on to WIN10.   Everything seemed to work correctly within WIN10, so I downloaded my computer security software from CHECKPOINT,  created my email accounts, that also worked correctly. When I rebooted in order to carryon installing my programmes, I could no longer log on to WIN10 it refused my password. Not having created a  password reset key- simply because I did not know you had to do so at this point, I had no other choice but to reinitialise and reinstall the whole system again - after having spent lots of time trying to find the relevant documentation on how to do this.  Let me specify - I live in France;  the WIN operating system including the instructions is in French although I requested the apps to be in English (as it is my mother tongue). I spent 31/2 hours reinstalling the system and once again I requested the Local User + password - which was accepted by Windows 10.  So as not to waste time, I rebooted to see whether I could logon on again .... and NO, Windows refused yet again to accept my logon, which means that I am going to have to, once again, reinstall the complete  WIN10 operating system!!!  ... We have deployed over 160 Elite X2 1012 Tablets across our organisation adopting a mobile strategy for our Workforce replacing all Laptops and Desktops.  After heavy testing we went with the Elite X2 1012 Tablets as they met our requirements with the accessories (hard case, tablet pen, etc)  However, when we deployed the tablets we have found that they struggle with MS Excel and frequently crash / not respond when performing cross-sheet calculations (between the same sheet and other open sheets).  This is a basic requirement of our Finance and Report Teams to carry out their jobs.  We don't have this problem with the other HP Devices we have or the Microsoft Surface Pro 3's we use (which are all arguably much lower spec that the Elite X2's)  All the tablets have Windows 10 x64 Enterprise OS and Office 2016 Pro Plus (x64) installed.  We have downgraded the tablets that are having problems to Office 2013 Pro Plus (x86) and still have the same problem, all be it less often.  Can you advise if there is a fix for this or it is a common problem with these tablets?

Hi all, We bought about 10 HP X2 Elite 1012 G1 along with Thunderbolt Docking station. I setup the laptop then installed the drivers for Intel Management Engine and Thunderbolt dock. Updated the firmware for Intel chipset as well. Since we setup these laptops user complain about the dock not getting detected by laptop. No matter how many times they restart. I went through each laptop and observed the following issues: 1- When I open the Thunderbolt software, it shows multiple HP docks in the attached devices with cross sign (which means the device is disconnected). It seesm that the Thunderbolt software creates multiple entries of the same dock then fails to detect it 2- When the laptop goes to sleep mode, the dock gets disconnected and then it doesn't get detected at all, even after reboot.  So far the only fix is as below: (which worked 90% of the time) 1- Uninstall both Intel management Engine driver and Thunderbolt Secure connect driver2- Install both Intel management Engine driver and firmware + Thunderbolt Secure connect driver BUT, this can't be a proper fix because in a corporate environment we can't go through this every single time. It's a total waste of time/money for a corporate. On top of that, users get frustrated by this issue that is ahpenning constantly. HP PLEASE FIND A PROPER FIX. I have an Acer Aspire One D250 with a synaptics touchpad bought on March 20th which hasn't given me any problems till 3 days ago.

Friday, when I turned the computer on, the touchpad wasn't working. I tried Fn+F7 and nothing. The usual synaptics animated icon wasn't beside the clock. I went to the control panel>mouse>device settings and no device was listed there, while all the options were greyed out. I went to system>device manager and no "Mouse and other pointing devices" was listed. I went to Acer.pt (I'm from portugal) and downloaded the driver and installed it. The instalation went without problems and when I restarted the computer, the touchpad was still not working and nothing was listed on the device manager.

I called the Acer support line and the told me to restore the OS. I spent friday doing backups and I reinstalled Windows XP from Acer eRecovery Management. After all that, the touchpad wasn't working still.

Saturday was spent going to the store where I bought the netbook and trying to find a solution. Just as when I was going to give the netbook to warranty, a guy turned the computer on and the touchpad was magically working again.

I went home, all happy and warm and fuzzy inside.

Today, when I was copying my backups to the netbook again, I hit "cancel", and the icon next to the clock disappered and the touchpad stoped working again. Went to check, and nothing was listed on the device manager or on contro... Read more

Worked fine after I restarted it.

Now, the same thing just happened again, on a DIFFERENT laptop with a different OS, browser, everything.

I have a new Acer Aspire 1670 laptop which has worked fine for the past few weeks. However, I turned it on this morning (it worked fine last night) to find that my touchpad no longer works.

I don't feel this is a hardware issue in the sense that the touchpad has become unplugged from the internal PS/2 port, because the touchpad works for about 3-4 seconds after I log onto Windows/when the desktop loads up. That's the only time it works, it doesn't even work at the welcome/logon screen.

After those 3-4 seconds, something obviously happens that's preventing it from working.

I thought it might be my Wacom Graphire II graphics tablet, which is plugged in via USB 2. However, my touchpad and tablet have worked fine together for the past few weeks and have never caused any problems.

I unplugged the tablet, and uninstalled the tablet and touchpad drivers. I then rebooted, and - navigating around with the keyboard - reinstalled the touchpad drivers and rebooted. It still won't work.

Any ideas?

Two things:

1. Does the touchpad have an indicator light that shows you when it is activated? The one on my HP does.

2. Is there an On/Off button above the touchpad...there is on my HP. Did you accidently turn it OFF

I currently have a HP pavilion tx2520ae laptop and now and again whilst im am working on it i suddenly get the message 'synaptics touchpad has stopped working with two options saying : close and check for a problem online and close', after this message appears the touchpad still works, however the scroll bar for the laptop does not, this is an inconvenience as i do alot of my school portfolios on my laptop, some of which are nearly 100 pages long and i am constantly editing it, so i need the scroll bar to save me time and effort.

When i restart the laptop however this problem is corrected, but after a while it appears again and constantly restarting the laptop every 10 minutes is just too much effort to waste on fixing a simple scroll bar.

When the message appeared, I had tried to go onto the mouse options on the control pannel and i got an error message saying 'unable to connect to the synaptics pointing device driver. if you have installed another PS/2 pointing driver please unistall the synaptics driver by clicking on the yes button. you then need to reinstall your pointing divce driver for your external device again.
Do you want to unistall the synaptics driver now?'

I went to use my laptop today, and I discovered that the touchpad has stopped working. In fact, I was unable to even get past the sign-on screen, and if it weren't for the fact that I got a mouse arrow with a plug-in USB mouse, the laptop would be completely dead to me.

My son uses the laptop for Minecraft gaming, but I don't think that has anything to do with this. Even a reboot didn't change anything. I wonder if a Windows update screwed something up (again)? I'm at a loss. I'm not always where I can set up a physical mouse to use - and frankly I don't want to have to.

Any suggestions?

Found the solution. When I pressed the F5 button (not Fn + F5), I got a popup that said "touchpad disabled." When I pressed it again, it said "touchpad enabled." I unplugged my USB mouse and tried again, and it's now working. What a screwed up design that allows a user to accidentally disable one's touchpad with an accidental press of the F5 key. Then you have to research the problem before figuring out the problem. Someone in the Toshiba laptop design department should be fired.

My Tecra R950-F0036 touch pad suddenly stopped working (Serial No.4D027959H bought in South Africa).

I have tried all the usual options such as updating the driver.
The driver appears to be there but FN F9 does nothing to switch the pad on.

Any ideas on how to re-activate the touch pad?

I don't know which OS do you use but check please hardware status. Check please device manager and be sure touchpad is listed there and enabled properly.

Hi, The touchpad on Thinkpad T430s is suddenly stopped working (unsing windows 10).  I can move the cursor but the bottoms are not responding).   I have updated/rollbacked the driver, BIOS, Windows, etc.. Still not working. (((I am now using a mouth and it's working.  Does this mean my touchpad is forever gone?  Is there a way to fix?  Please advice.  Many thanks in advance!
