I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

When I initially booted my Yoga 920, pressing F1 F2 F3 work fine for volume controls with a UI prompt for the function.Pressing F4 toggled the mic mute with a UI prompt.F5 could be used to refresh a webpage.F6 toggled the use of the touchpad, but did not show a UI prompt.F7 toggled airplane mode with UI prompt.F8 toggled camera function with UI prompt.F9 locks fine.F10 works fine too.F11 F12 toggles brightness with UI prompt. I don't know what happened along the way, but now F4 (mic), F7 (airplane mode), F8 (camera) stopped working. Nothing happens when I press the buttons. I'm running Windows 10 Home, version 1709, OS Build 16299.125. Maybe someone can help me in restoring the functions of those buttons? And additionally, maybe add a UI prompt for F6 (touchpad)?

Touchpad is working only intermittently. Under Human Interface Devices, I have 2 entries for 12C HID Device. When the pad stops working, one will have a ! in a triangle with a code 10 error. I can uninstall, hard shut down (note: restart does nothing. Hard shut down is required) and have the touchpad back, usually throughout startup. It will disappear again just after startup. Rinse, repeat four or five times, and it will work for maybe a couple of hours. I've removed everything from Startup. I've updated using Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update. I am at the point of considering a factory reset, but I'd rather not do that if anyone has a suggestion? I've been dealing with this about two weeks. Not sure if it was in conjunction with a Windows Update, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised. Note: If I uninstall both 12C HID Device entries, rather than uninstalling the second entry, the first reappears with the warning sign.

I'm having a similar problem to Chris Chu - http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/888744-need-help-have-wireless-but.html

I just upgraded from Qwest DSL 1.5 Mbps with an Actiontec GT701 modem to the 12Mbps service with the Actiontec Q1000 modem, set up with just the default options.

I'm having a very peculiar problem. I can see the Q1000's GUI control panel (192.168.0.1) and browse the Internet from a computer connected via wi-fi. However, a computer connected viaEthernet doesn't see the web or even the Q1000 control center. A ping from the Ethernet-connected machine times out. However, the Ethernet-connected machine CAN see the other machines connected to the Q1000 - I played an MP3 file from one of the other machines. So the router function for the LAN is working, but the Q1000 doesn't respond to a ping or let me see the external 'Net or even browse to the Q1000's GUI panel.

I've tried this with just one machine connected directly via Cat5 and none of the other Ethernet ports on the Q1000 used. I've done that from two different PCs, using 4 different Cat5 cables, and trying different ports on the Q1000. I've also tried it going through a D-Link switch with the same results from 4 different PCs.
All of these connections worked with the GT701 and the 1.5 Mbps service, but not with the Q1000. We even tried replacing the Q1000 with the same results. (Firmware versions were QAQ01-31.00L.34 on the first Q1000 and QAQ01-31.00L.33 ... Read more

I bought my HP Pavilion 17-g121wm at Walmart. Works fine, but the fn-F12, which is supposed to toggle Airplane mode on/off, doesn't work. And although Settings shows that the laptop is in Airplane Mode, it isn't. Wifi is enabled. In short, I cannot turn Airplane mode on to conserve battery. I've tried updating the LAN driver, and also installing F12 key driver. Neither helped. I'm looking for some way to be able to toggle wireless on and off. Right now, wireless is always on and I can't change it.

Hi there,

When I turn on my computer (running Windows XP), it seems to boot up fine, but a few seconds after the desktop appears, the screen goes black for a few seconds. Then the desktop appears for 4-5 seconds, then the screen goes black. This just reapeats over & over and the computer seems frozen. There is also a little red 'X' hanging out in my toolbar, who looks especially evil. As time passes, the toolbar becomes warbled.

I rebooted my computer in Safe Mode, which works fine & have been trying to fix it from here all day. I tried following the 8 steps to rid/protect your computer from malware/viruses, but some steps can't be completed in Safe Mode.

Can you please help?

Thanks!

I have a Gateway PC, 5 or so years old, running Windows XP Media Edition.

A few days ago, soon after having installed some Windows updates, my wireless Microsoft mouse and keyboard stopped working. I plugged in a spare PS/2 mouse, and in the bluetooth dialog box removed, added, and reconnected both components. The wireless mouse and keyboard worked, but not for long. I then uninstalled and attempted to reinstall the mouse and keyboard software (except that the software apparently had not uninstalled). This did not fix the problem.

From here on I tried so many things, I do not recall in what order. I did a system restore via Advanced System Care, then tried again using a much earlier date. After a very long wait I was informed that my system could not be restored to that date.

I ran Reimage, which reported a moderately severe stability problem with numerous crashes. This program fixed and replaced files, etc, but got stuck while attempting to reinstall Windows updates (during repairs, Reimage removes Windows updates and reinstalls them afterward, but for some reason this last step has never worked with my computer and I've had to reinstall the updates manually). The computer was frozen and I was forced to turn it off using the power button. When I turned the computer back on, I had no working keyboard or mouse, and again had to use the power button to turn off the computer.

I plugged in a PS/2 keyboard and started the computer in bios, resetting bios to default sett... Read more

Hello,

Before I start my Thread i apologize for me English, It is just from google translate.

My girlfriend's laptop had been a BSOD. This includes the kernel power Event ID 41. This issue seems to be the WiFi driver. Now I want to update it, but that is not the current problem. If I take the laptop out of airplane mode, the screen flickers blue and I can do nothing. If the laptop on airplane mode, nothing happens and operates the laptop normally.
How can I solve this problem? If Annex I added the ZIP file of the dm_log_collector. I hope to have sufficiently informed you with this.

First of all, I am new to the forums, and really don't know if i can ask this question because it might not be related to W7.( I posted it here becase at anytime this forum is visited by over 10000 people) Anyways:
I have a router tp link td 8840t.
It is a small modem which i got from my isp and is good enough for my needs. When i use bridged mode and connect using broadband connection of W7 internet is awesome.
However if I use pppoeInternet becomes very choppy.
Now I was wandering why could this be? I experimented with various dns' from google ublic to opendns to my isp's dns but no matter what I try it's always choppy. So I was wondering if any of you guys or gals from this forum could help me?

A:Using bridged mode works but pppoe doesn't work

To my knowledge ADSL 2 (+ or whatever) does not use PPPoE for authentication. The authentication for connecting to your ISPs network, allowing you internet access, is done by the modem/router serial # or the MAC address. So trying to use PPPoE is why you aren't getting any INet access. Reset the modem/router box back to factory specs. The reason you are getting good INet access with it set to Bridge Mode is it is then authenticating with your ISP but your Win 7 computer is now getting a Public IP address, not a good thing to do. Bridge mode basically make is just a modem so you can install your own router and the add on router would be set to Dynamic IP Address, Again No PPPoE. So set the modem router to Dynamic and see what happens.

Hi everybody, I hope you can help me with a simple (?) question: I got a new hp 255 g5 notebook, and installed Win 7 pro. Everything is working fine except for the airplane mode (f12): is there any specific keyboard driver which makes it work? I have already tried to update all the drivers, to install hp system event utility and hp hotkey support, to uninstall all of them, to update the bios, to use Microsoft hotfixes, etc. to no avail. Please, avoid simple suggestions and answer only if you already know the issue or have a specific competence in this field. Thank you very much! :-) PSOn Win 10 the problem is not showing (so it is no hardware issue). PPSHp technical assistance was of absolutely no use in my case.

It could be due to any factory installed software to save battery. Check for installed programs to see if there's any such feature to auto-enable airplane mode during idle time.

I have a broken screen, which prompts me to disable the touchscreen function so I'm heavily dependent on the keyboard. The problem is I accidentally pressed the airplane mode setting when I was trying to dim the lights of my screen. Since the keyboard is a Bluetooth device, I now can't interact with my laptop (i.e. move the cursor to disable airplane mode). This is the second time that this happen and it's really frustrating since I wish that there's actually an airplane mode button on the sides of the laptop itself for situations like this. I tried downloading ng a hard restart like I did last time, but I still can't get out of airplane mode. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

My daughter has a Dell laptop with Win 8.1 this has been broken many times and she's returned it (she bought a 2 year warranty which is good) it's needed the harddrive replaced at least twice. That's not the problem, but the last 2 times it came back from being fixed, it's been in AIRPLANE MODE. this happened the last time it came back from getting fixed, and I googled it and she tried various things, even taking the battery out and waiting and putting it back in. It won't connect to WiFi and says it's in Airplane mode. The last time she kept trying to use it and a few days later it started working okay. This time, I was googling this and found some complicated answers, going in to settings, etc. and also found a lot of other people who were having the same problem and couldn't figure out how to change it. I don't know much about Windows 8, even just getting around in it, I still have Windows 7 and this is what I like.
Is there a simple way to turn off Airplane Mode, or even disable it? There is very little chance she will be taking a plane, or bringing the laptop with her on one, and I think a lot of planes now allow the use of WiFi so it isn't even needed.
Oh, her warranty was up in Aug and she returned it the last time the end of July (it needed the hd replaced for the 2nd time) and they gave her a hard time about this because it was almost up and she'd returned it to have it fixed 2 times before. So, she can't call t... Read more

Most Dell laptops have a physical switch which turns the WiFi adapter On or Off. When the switch is off and there is no wired connection to the Internet, the laptop shows to be in Airplane mode. If the switch if On and the laptop is still in Airplane mode, the WiFi adapter could be disabled. From Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections look at the status of the WiFi adapter; if it shows as 'Disabled', just right click on it and select 'Enable'.

So it looks like I've made a mess. I have the P72 (using Windows 10) and was trying to figure out how to get the laptop to charge in airplane mode. So from what I initially read, I needed to download Power Management. So, I did that from https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds506238 but I didn't really notice anything. I kept digging on Google and found that airplane mode can be adjust with Lenovo Vantage. So I figured out how to get to that but since I'd installed Power Management and it didn't seem to do anything, I decided to uninstall Lenovo PM from the device manager (which is what the link above said to do). After that I was unable to see airplane mode in the hardware section of Vantage or as a power plan in Power Options (pictures are attached of what should be shown, but they no longer appear for me). I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling Power Management (from link above) as well as Lenovo Vantage and that didn't seem to help. Has anyone else had this problem and knows how to get the airplane mode back? Also sort of funny, now it'll keep charging the laptop even if it's in airplane mode.Airplane mode shown in VantageAirplane plan in Windows Power Options

I had an issue with AVG that was locking up the machine.   I was able to remove AVG in safemode, but after rebooting my laptop, I now have no internet connectivity.  I am running Windows 10.  When I go into the settings for network and internet, I have an option for Dial-up, VPN, airplane mode.   There is no option for Ethernet nor wifi.  When I click on airplane mode and attempt to set the toggle switch to off, it will not move...it simply slides back to the on position.   I've gone into device manager and attempted to update the driver (which is Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11 bgn wifi adapter) and it tells me that it's up to date.  I then disabled it per instructions that I found online, and rebooted.  It reinstalled the drivers, and again says that the drivers are up to date.  Another option was for me to go to properties for the adapter and hit the power managment and Clear off the option that says Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.  However, there is no power managment tab?!?!?! Also, when I view the Network Connections folder, it is empty.  I'm at a loss.  I've tried everything that I can think of.  My wife needs this PC with internet access to run her online business, but it's utterly useless at this point. I could really use some assistance. Thanks!
