IE11 This page cannot be displayed.

Q: IE11 This page cannot be displayed.

IE11 on this computer abruptly stopped displaying websites with "This page can?t be displayed" error. Firefox on the same machine seems to function properly. No other obvious anomalies. Users software requires IE11 so it's critical to use that browser. Looks as if the virus software may be expired. Thanks in advance for any help.

Preferred Solution: IE11 This page cannot be displayed.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

1. I cannot find a solution for a problem accessing Microsoft forums websites from Windows 10 - IE11 and Edge browsers:
in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page.   IE11 this page can't be displayed.
For about a year it worked at least from Edge. Now both cannot access Microsoft forums. All the other sites are accessible.
I am using a corporate proxy. The same sites are accessible from Windows 7 with IE11.
First I blamed our IE GPO with multiple settings. So for a test I placed my machine in Blocked OU (no IE GPO, proxy is set from different GPO).
Everything what I tried didn't help. The question: why just Microsoft forums (no other sites) are not accessible.
Did couple of tests from Windows 7 IE11 machines. The same Microsoft forums are perfectly accessible (all GPOs are applied).
Suddenly, found that one corporate Web App does the same : "This  page can't be displayed". On other Windows 7 it does work.
I am out of ideas now... cannot blame anymore our GPO or proxy...
Any advice?

sorry, i'm not a computer wizard although I know my way around a bunch of these things.  Have the strangest thing, which I can't figure out.  I have this website, which is giving me always the "Page can't be displayed" error, together
with the TLS and RC4 comments.
Strangly enough, this is the only site where this happens.  All other various sites are accessible (e.g. Google, Facebook, Youtube), so it doesn't seem to be a connectivity problem.   FYI : i also get this same problem with Chrome.
I believe I had no problems with this on my previous computer, who also had IE11.  It must be some of the security settings or some kind of access right, although nothing special is installed.
I have the TLS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 turned on.  I also tried using the SSL 2.0 & 3.0 but no success.
Any suggestions ?

I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 and IE11. I often get a situation while browsing where I click on a link to read an article and the page comes up blank with the text: This page can't be displayed.

This condition seems to happen randomly. I usually have several tabs open. Once IE11 starts doing this, the majority of tabs produce the same blank page. I even opened a new tab and clicked on Google where the same thing happened.

The solution is to close IE11 and restart IE11. I've tried other solutions such as a complete IE11 reset, but that doesn't cure the issue.

Is there a fix for this condition?

I am working on configuring a kiosk for public use and have ran into issue in IE11 on Windows 7 OS.  When attempting to open a new window I receive "this page can't be displayed".  On this error page there is a button "fix connection problems".  If user selects button they are able to navigate through the troubleshooting and make their way to the control panel.  Is there a GP or registry where I can stop the prompting for "this page can't be displayed" or to disable the button "fix connection problems"?

OK, I'm having three problems.......

1.) For some reason, when I do a search and click on the site that I am interested in, it goes to a totally different site. I have to go back to the search engines site and click it two more times before it takes me to the site I requested.

2.) When I'm online playing Pogo, sometimes I get kicked out because a pop up appears in the page that I'm playing on.

3.) When I log onto Yahoo Messenger, my screen gets real small. I have to go to the Control Panel and maximize it again. It does it periodically other times as well, but mostly when I log on to Yahoo Messenger.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how I can get rid of it????

Thanks In Advance,

Sometimes it's only for a few seconds, but sometimes much longer, or the page does not load at all and I have to re-open the page. A:Keep getting 'page cannot be displayed'

Perhaps I should add some more info. I scanned with spybot S&D and got nothing. I scanned with ad-aware and got nothing. I scanned with microsoft antispy and got nothing. I scanned with pest patrol and it came back with 3 hits All located in the same folder. C:\Documents and Settings\Family Computer\local settings\temp. The three files are autorun.exe, autorungui.dll, and mssserif120.fon. All three of these files were indentified by pest patrol as being trojans, but before i got rid of them, I googled them and some sights say that these are false positives in Pest Patrol. So I really don't know if these files are problems or not.

Now the next problem I have is that everytime i am on certain websites (e-bay for example), My explorer crashes and I end up with a text file on my desktop called hs_err_pid####.log. I don't know what is happening here either. The #### is always a different 4 digit number.

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.

I have windows 7 64 bit on my computer.  I have cleaned out cache and everything else that I can think of.  But at times when I click on a link like yahoo mail or my bank page, I get this notice "This page can't be displayed?.  Is there something else that I can do to fix this?  I even clicked on "Fix connection problems" when "This page can't be displayed" notice pops up.  I also use IE 11.  I tried researching for an answer but cannot find anything.  They say something about "add-ons" might be causing the problem but don't know anything about add-ons.
thanks,  granny

A:How to fix "This page cannot be displayed"?

Add-ons are small bits of software that are 'added' to your basic browser to help with doing jobs you want doing.
You say you are using IE 11. Do you have a row of black print very near the top that starts 'File; Edit' and ends with 'Help' ? If you don't, press the 'Alt' key and it will magically appear !
Then click on 'Tools' ( in this line of text ) and you will get a drop-down menu appear which is divided into sections. At the bottom of the second section down, you will see a line which says 'Manage add-ons'. If you click on this, a large box will appear which lists all your add-ons. Now I don't know which add-ons you need, or want, but this is where you will find them. If you are still baffled by what you see here, post back with a list of your add-ons and we will take it from there.
There are known to be some problems with IE 11, I haven't run into any personally but then I don't use very much. It's not my default browser. It does have another feature which may help you, called 'Compatibility view' for web-sites which don't play 'nicely' with IE 11.
Again, click on 'Tools' and you will find it immediately below 'Manage add-ons'. This brings up a small box. At the top of it it says 'Add this web-site'. Type the internet address of the web-site you are having problems with into this box and click on 'Add'. The web-site will then appear in the larger box immediately below the one you typed it into.
As an example, say you bank with the 'Ban... Read more

When online, after about 5 minutes my browser seems to die. Im still online, outlook will come up and send email successfully, and if im playing a game, i can play all night, as long as i dont close it (shockwave). I will then have to just reboot pc and IE is working again. The other PC has no issues. tried to ping after got the error, "page cannot be displayed" and can ping successfully. Ran AVG virus program, it did find a trojan, and was removed, now showing no virus's. Also ran spybot and ad-ware and found just a couple of things and took care of those. Did repair on IE...no good, downloaded IE 6 again...no good. of course did the normal things, cleared cookies, temp files. also did dun/ras, and rebuilt my tcpip stack. This started happening about 1 week after we installed a kodak usb camera with docking station. dont know if this had anything to do with it or not. also prior to this could not open .pdf files. if all else fails, guess ill reformat. any ideas??? again, simply rebooting the pc fixes the issue for about 5 minutes, then back to page cannot be displayed again.

When surfing the net I am keep getting 'The page cannot be displayed' on various sites. I have to refresh the page or click the link 5 times or more before it works. I have run everything (av, updates, adaware, spybot, etc) and not found anything, it seems to have started today for no reason I can see. Probably something simple!

Any advice?

A:The page cannot be displayed

Currently the Spyware identified by the security experts and especially the morphing and breeding .exe`s in the new variants of CWS, after every re-boot required by Ad-Aware and Spybot etc, just spawns more and more files for the poster to find and delete. This is making the advice the security experts give just too hard to follow.
One of the security experts recently had one log with over a hundred files, they guy had to format c: drive.

Download and copy hijackthis to its own folder , it makes backups so keeping them separate and available can be useful.

Note the Spyware tools websites are veryu often under attack and so I have provided more than 1 location to download from:

ok, this is a massive problem.
i have a network at home, with two wired pcs and a wireless laptop connected to the network. we all had the internet until i went onto a website on my computer (one of the wired ones) whereupon loads of popups came up. it took me a couple of minutes to close all of the popups, and when i returned to the desktop, the wallpaper had been replaced by an internet shortcut to a site advertising a spyware blocker. i then found out how to remove it in the desktop settings box. that was fine, except i couldnt get onto the internet afterwards, and programs such as msn messenger and half life 2's steam did not log on either. however, the other wired and wireless computers could still access the net etc. i thought it must be something to do with the router, so i reinstalled it and the ethernet adapter on the motherboard (my LAN is now called LAN 8 i've done it so many times). this did not work. i then decided to repair the LAN, but it came up with a box saying 'failed to renew IP address', but my isp (wanadoo) have no fixed ip address. next, i tried 'ipconfig', found the ip address of the router (something like, because i reinstalled the LAN so many times), pinged it and all 4 attempts were successful. i then decided to use the modem that came with the wanadoo connection kit to see if that would work(a thomson speedtouch). it connected, and a comfirmation box came up that said 'connected-1.1mbps', but ... Need more info. Dial up or broadband? Do you have a router?

Read other 3 answers

I have recently set up a broadband connection for a family member and it all seems to work fine, the speed is right no crashing or disconnecting.

One problem we do have is that when trying to access certain pages we get a Page Cannot Be Displayed error. As the internet is wireless we try the same page on a laptop and it works fine.

The internet is provided by Sky (the television company) and when we try to log on the account they provided us with we also get a Page Cannot Be Displayed error.

Ive searched the forum for some information and haven't really been able to find anything. We have done anti virus and spyware checks (Nod 32 and Spybot used)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS The broadband is sent through a normal phone line not a cable line. Microfilters are on all things that might interfere so I don't think that is the problem. To be honest Ive always had trouble with broadband coming through a normal phone line.

A:Page Cannot Be Displayed

We just got a Laptop computer, so I'm fairly new to having two computers in the house and therefore, also to running a router. I'm trying to get to the bottom of a similar problem myself. Namely that a wireless connection works OK but any computer that is hard-wired to the router via the ports at the back can have trouble displaying any web pages at all. The strange part is that Skype can connect OK, so I know there is no wiring error.

The solution in my case seems to lie with the sequence in which the modem, router and modem are turned on. The recommendation by the router manufacturer is: router > cable modem > computers. However, it's doing it like this that seems to cause the problem. No web pages show if I do it this way. If I turn everything on at once, the problem may occur. If I power up the modem and computer first, then power up the router, everything runs reliably at switch on. I suppose this what I'll have to get used to doing.

Perhaps you could also experiment in this area, or maybe start looking into router settings in general to see if it leads to solution to the difficulties you are experiencing.

A:The page cannot be displayed

Hello creicke and Welcome to TSF.

1. Try clearing all Cookies and Temporary Internet Files in IE.
2. Go to Start>Run, type in cmd hit enter at the command prompt type
the website you're trying to enter (ping www.xxxx.com). If this returns as "request timed out" than the site is not reachable.
3. Run the System Configuration Utility. Start>> Run. Type in: msconfig [Enter]
Click on the "Startup" tab and remove the checks from each item in the Name column.
Click the Apply button.
Reboot your computer.
Try again.
If this issue is resolved at this point, reverse the process. However, add one check back at a time to Startup and reboot each time until the issue reappears.
4. Run your Anti-spyware utilities.
5. Lastly try restoring Winsock stack it might be corrupted, if your running SP2 the best way to do this, go to Start>Run, type netsh winsock reset [Enter]
Then reboot. Or you can try d/l this Winsock fix from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4372.html.

I hope one of these suggestions helps solve your problem, have a Happy New Year.

Before surfing you should try to ping a website like this

open your run box type cmd in it

then type "ping yahoo.com" if you get a reply then you are online and connected to the net if you don't get a reply or see something like unknow host. Go on to ping a WAN ip. if you do get a reply than it might be a DNS server problem .

If in both case you don't get a reply than ......check your ip configuration.
By typing ipconfig /all in the command prompt.

I've been having an issue since I started using this computer a week ago. I can connect to the internet (netscape online dial-up) and start surfing but at some point - maybe 5 mins or more - when I go to a different web page I get "page cannot be displayed". It looks like I've been booted yet when I check my connection I am still connected to the internet. I've tried everything to try and correct this - ran COMODO, AVG anti-virus, Malwarebytes etc. It can also happen when I'm playing a casino game...screen freezes, I have to minimize window, close the program with ctrl, alt, del, disconnect and then reconnect. The problem doesn't seem to be with my ISP, modem or phone line because I am definetely still connected.

Other places where ads are supposed to show I get "this page can not be displayed" It's like that on my "Cnet" site and my "MSN" site etc. The only firewall I have doesn't change things when I turn on or off. I'm at my witts end. I know there are pictures there because my girlfriend doesn't have this problem.
Can anyone suggest anything short of a Windows re-install?
