Q: Monitor Problems, Response Problems, Lots of Problems

Hi This is my first time posting, and I have a lot of things causing problems with my computer, but to start off, here are my specs.

Windows 10 Pro
Intel Core i7-4770s CPU @ 3.10GHz
8 Gb Ram Corsaire Vengence 4x2
64 Bit
AMD Radeon HD 7700 GDDR5 1Gb (two of them w/ crossfire)
2 Tb 7200 Rpm Seagate HDD
z87-g45 Gaming Motherboard
Case: r5 Gaming Full size case
Power Supply: Corsair AX860
Fans: Rosewill Hyper Silence CPU fan, 2 stock front fans, 1 stock in back

So, to start off, I built this computer myself 2 years ago, and it has been running steadily without too many problems along the way, but earlier last year it began to have some much bigger problems.

Issue 1. Monitor Issues
I say this is a monitor issue, but i really doubt it has anything to do with the monitors them selves. What is happening every once in a while (about 3 times a week) the screens of my monitors will cut to black (it doesn't matter what I'm doing) and stay black for a few seconds before revealing the task bar at the bottom of the screen, and then the rest of my desktop slowly reveals itself. I've tried updating my video card drivers, but that hasn't helped.

Issue 2. Keyboard and Mouse Become unresponsive (System isn't frozen however)
Sometimes if I leave my pc idling in the lock screen, the keyboard will stop working, and when I come back, I can't log in. I can tell my computer is not frozen because the slideshow in the lock screen keeps moving and I can move my mouse (but not click with it.)What I found interesting in these occasions was that the Caps Lock key still lit up when I pressed it. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in the mouse and keyboard, but all that does is make the keyboard unusable (I can't press the caps lock) and the mouse doesn't show up anymore. Both Issue 1 and 2 are only fixed with a system reboot.

Issue 3. System Freezes
This problem happens the least out of the 3, and happens out of nowhere (like the other two.) I might be working on something, and when I look back to my computer, it is completely frozen. I can't move the mouse or press any buttons, and the task manager has stopped updating its processes (I keep it open at all times.) This issue is also only fixed with a reboot.

These are some of the issues that are most prominent with my system, I hope someone will be able to help me with this. I can provide more clarity if need be.
Thank You

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Oh yes, CCleaner. They do not seem to interfere with each other.

The problems are this. I have several Firefox Extensions and I think some of these are causing trouble. I ran Firefox in safe mode after disabling all extensions. This helped, but I think there may be Profile problems, too. I've had trouble getting good directions for fixing that. Mozilla is crashing a lot. Hey I've been having major problems with my Laptop.
Every ten or so minutes when my McAfee 2010 security suite disables real-time scanning it'll re-enable itself causing a lot of alarming pop-up boxes which is slowing my computer. Not sure whats causing it but it seems like malware.
Next theres this process which starts at windows start-up (DivxUpdate.exe), I don't think this is actually a part of divx. I've read somewhere that it is a form of autorun malware, it consumes 99% of my cpu majorly slowing down my computer, I think I may have similar malware on here that are problematic.
Also my firefox frequently say that there's an unresponsive script which temporarily freezes my whole computer and when I finally manage to get to task manager I have to end the process which seems to be using a regular amount of cpu and memory.
I made a topic exactly 1 month ago but nobody answered so I thought I'd make a new one seeing as the problems are progressing and building up.

Thanks for any help I'm provided with.

Hi, my name's Katie and I'm having major virus/spyware,adware,malware removal issues! I

have a lot of different things going on here, and can't make any sense of it. I tried

following other people's solved threads, but they didn't solve my issues, so I guess I need

personalized help. I have Windows security running (well, I usually do when it's working

properly,) and I run Ad-Aware and Spybot regularly, but it appears that they cannot solve

my issue. Anyway, here's a list of things that have been happening to my computer since the

virus happened...

1. I KNOW the virus was contracted in AIM. An IM came in from a friend with only a link. It

didn't look suspicious to me, so I clicked it, and all of a sudden I had IMEd everyone in

my buddy list the link, and received about a million IMs back (didn't have time to read

them before My Computer's virtual memory ran out and crashed AIM on me.

2.When the computer starts up, sometimes a default background appears before the logon

screen with the user accounts appears.

3.After logon, the same thing in general happens every time. Spybot comes up with a bunch

of messages saying that there is a registry change to my homepage or something else

happening. I deny it, and it denies it over and over again to seemingly no avail. A .txt

file appears on the desktop. I have never opened this file, don't know what it is, and

Just tell me if you need any more information on either of these problems.

Hey man i dont know anything about your first query, but with second query, i bought a new 19" moniter for my PC and everything was pixelated and looked like there was gaps in the text and so on, this might sound simple and stupid and you may have already tried it...but I adjusted the screen resolution in properties menu, again you probably have tried that though.

I sure need help  --- I do not know how to deal with viruses, trojans, spyware, etc.
My husband and I were traveling. We had to use public Wifi places to check our email on our laptop. when we got home and checked our email accounts on our laptops, we found some really weird looking email messages. I 'think' my husband opened one that had his name in the Subject line, but we deleted all he other ones that looked strange. We did not open those emails, just deleted them.
Now all 3 of our computers are doing really weird things. I have run scan after scan after scan, both downloaded one and online ones. Sometimes they find problems and fix them. sometimes the scans find nothing. Yet our problems just seem to be getting worse and worse. I DESPERATELY need a lot of help.
I know it would be very confusing to try to work on all 3 of our computers at once so maybe we can start with my husband's desktop computer.
I am currently running Avast on it and it has been running for hours. It is find TONS of things like these ----
"...is infected by win32:Funweb-K [Pup}"
"...is infected by JS: ScriptIP-inf [Trj}
etc, etc, etc.

Ok, I have lots of XP problems:

Can't open My computer from the desktop, the computer just locks up whilst attempting to open it, showing me the animated torch, saying it is looking for files.

The computer is running really slow, locking up and crashing programs for no apparent reason.

Cant access the drop down box (shortcut key F4) in windows explorer/applications/anywhere.

Internet explorer refuses to do anything if I type a web address without the http:// into the address box. It worked before, but now it isn't for some reason.

Finally, when I restart windows, it locks up for anything up to 5 minutes when it comes back up. The windows bar with the start button on, when I pass my mouse over it, the pointer turns to an hourglass and I am unable to do anything unti it sorts itself out.

I have tried running several anti virus programs, including AVG, Mcafee and Norton. Only AVG came up with a virus, 'Dialler'. I cleared this and it didn't make any difference. I alos tried system restore from several points, but each time it told me that it was unable to restore.

If ANYONE can give me any help at all, I would be extremely grateful.

I have had repeated problems with my computer freezing/crashing. It?s a HP Pavilion 500-123ea, 8GB memory. sfc/scannow does not complete. Dism ?CheckHealth? is OK.

I have referred to the tenforums tutorial 7808 on Dism repair (last title I had was ?Repair Windows Update?). This has instructions to download a ISO file.

I have been struggling with this. On first attempt, the word I got was ?can not open file as archive?, ie that?s the install.wim file.

Second attempt I got ?source files could not be found?.

Thirdly, I tried another download attempt and after 20 minutes nothing had happened.

The download seemed to want to default to the C drive, although I had preferably been trying to get it to a removable F drive USB disk. No particular success either way.

I have tried to be careful with the install:wim syntax.

I suppose the diagnosis would seem to be that I have somehow ended up with some corrupted files.

Is this DISM RestoreHealth tool usable? Am I likely to get anywhere with it? Anyway, as before I much appreciate previous advice on this forum and I just don?t know if there?s anything else I can try.

A:Problems with Response from DISM

Hello jdcallison,
Actually RestoreHealth from DISM is somewhat complex. You cannot repair a 10586 build with 10240 ISO, which I hope isn't a case here.
The best option in your case would be to do a repair upgrade, which keeps everything and reinstall windows.

I have a friend who has a new Gateway with XP who complains that recently everything has been sluggish, there have been slowdowns and freezes, etc. I know win98 but not XP. Are there diagnostics and such that he can run on XP to check for anything that might be causing his problems? Things like SFC, scandisk, etc? Are there basic things he can be checking before calling Gateway? I will have him defrag just in case that might be a factor.

A:sluggish response, other problems

I'd start by running an online virusscan, and checking for spyware with Ad-Aware.

I am running a desktop HP Pavilion 500-123ea, 8 GB memory running Windows 10 (originally Windows 8). The computer frequently freezes/crashes.

When I run 'Restorehealth' in DISM it says there is an error 0x800f081f and that 'The source files could not be found'. I am referred to the link 'go microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=243077' which doesn't seem to go anywhere.

I realise I've posted before, and appreciate all received advice, but has anyone encountered this sort of problem before?

Okay, so I've been getting this problem while connecting to my college dorm's network. Whenever I plug in an ethernet without modifying some settings, my computer doesn't even respond to the cable being plugged in. Going into my LAN adapter settings, I tested if a cable was even being recognized, and it was not.

The first thing I did was install a new driver for my LAN adapter, which at first did nothing. Then I started fiddling around with something called Link Speed and Duplex Settings, because it's description said matching these settings to the network's can sometimes invoke a response. Originally set at 'auto configuration', I changed these settings to 100 mbps and got a response, but didn't connect to the network. All sorts of problems come up like "Didn't recognize a DHCP server, Windows obtained automatic IP address settings". It will try to connect to the network, but ultimately takes 2 minutes or so to come up with these errors.

So next I tried the 10 mbps setting, and for some reason, this makes everything work completely fine without issues. Except I can now only get extremely slow internet speeds in exchange for internet actually working. I also tried buying a $15 NIC card to go into my unused PCI slot, but my computer won't even accept the new NIC. Booting up my computer will make it go through this continuous power restart cycles without actually displaying anything on screen.

Currently I'm usi... Read more

I'm having problems with both my cdrom and cd burner. The cdrom is a 32x Mitsumi and the burner is a 2x Memorex(so slow). I'm running Win 98 sec ed. I have 128 megs of ram and a Pentium II 300mhz processor.

First, when I put a cd into the cdrom it takes forever before the disc is accessible and it may lock the rest of the computer up until it's done spinning up. However, it may never finish spinning up at which time you have to eject the disc to unlock the rest of the system. Also, when playing media files from it after a while it's starts playing back choppy. This only just started about a week ago.

Then there is the cd burner. Somewhat more stable then the cdrom when playing back but won't successfully burn a disc for anything. It will either burn the whole thing right up until the end and then blow out the disc while writing the table of contents or it will blow the disc within the first couple of minutes or lastly, the software will just lock. I've tried both Nti and Adaptec with no luck. I get maybe one out of twelve cds burned successfully.

I spent all last night doing scandisks and defrags to make sure the problem wasn't any rogue proggies running in background. I shut off all background tasks. Used Tweak All to free up 3/4 of my memory(I think I have a bit of a memory leak on that system) and still blew out the disc. Like the cdrom, this is a fairly new problem. I've been using both drives for over a year with no trouble ... Read more

I have a laptop with XP Pro SP3 and up until last night its been running fine. Last night I turned on a movie and I got blue screened. So I turned it back on and started the movie again. Fifteen minutes into it I heard the windows error sound and my computer restarted on its own. Again I turned it on and played the movie. It finally finished and I went to sleep. When I woke up this morning I had a windows bubble that said my computer was infected with spyware. It said to click to fix it, so I did. Nothing happened. So I go to do a virus scan and find out my anti-virus software (McAfee) is disabled and won't enable. So I do a scan with adaware and it find nothing. I do a scan with McAfee and my computer restarts in the middle. When it turns back on, it takes about 5 or 6 mins to boot (it normally takes one or two at most). I download HJT to try to post a log but it won't open, even in safe mode. I tried to do a system restore but apparently it deleted all my restore points up to about an hour ago, so I can't even do that. I have no idea what do do, please help.

The instruction at 0x7c809783 reference memory 0x000343d4 The memory could not be written, That was the first problem. I had a look aroung msconfig start up and saw somthing called point 32 and semanticInsight which I have disabled. Computer went mad shut downs pop up warnings etc.
I have scanned in safe mode with system restore switched off using

adaware ( which would not scan kept going to blue screen with fatal error warning)
spybot (found loads, toolbar 888, media plex, plus others)
CWS shredder ( found CWS misconfig and some thing else forgot name of)
Windows defender ( again toobar 888, C2lop, need to find bar, altnet plus others)
Ewido ( found about 5)

This is the second time I have performed these scan in todays and in the same mode and they keep coming up with the same stuff

Avg has found 9 trojans in two days and still keeps firing warnings at me.

I have look around and delete stuff I think should not be there. I have just rebooted and the same error message internal C tree etc is still there.

I have posted my Hijack this log to see if anyone else can see something I carnt I myself are running out of options what to do next. IE keeps struggling going off to a spyware site wanting me to buy. What ever it is it keeps coming back.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

The last time you asked for help you did not respond to the assistance offered so I hope you will this time.

Please move HijackThis out of the Temporary files and into a separate folder of its own in program files, so that it can function properly and create back-ups which can be restored, if necessary.

It is likely that you have a variant of the Vundo trojan that hides itself from HijackThis.exe so if we rename HijackThis, the entries should become visible.

Go to the C:\Program Files\HijackThis folder. Right click on the HijackThis.exe file and select "Rename". Rename it puppy.exe. Make sure it has the .exe extension or it will not work.

Then run HijackThis again and post a new log please.

I can already tell that his is going to be one huge post. I've been having many problems with my PC. One of the major ones was the unexpected restarts. I went into the control pannel and disabled the auto restart, but now i just get this huge blue screen that says my drivers are messed up or something or another. My friend next door said it could be something about a memory leak or something. Also whenever I try to install/play games they always crash, and im wondering if these two problems are linked in someway. Hopefully you guys can help me out because im clueless on what to try next. I've formated, and still get the problem.....

Thanks guys

Well Today i was just playing a game and my computer just went all bozo
At the start lots of ads started to popup and my background minimized into 1/4th
Then I ran Norton anti virus, mcafee, and ad-aware and it said everything was gone, i did full scan and smart system scans and every other kind of scan. I thought i got rid of it, but then my computer shut off.I thought who cares ill just restart, so i restarted and it said i had to sign on, which i never do, i usually just restart and it signs me in, but i signed in on owner with no password. Now i am stuck here only able to use ctrl+alt+delete to start programs. All my desktop shortcuts are gone and i cant drag or see anything on my desktop.

So I restarted my computer this morning and noticed some problems.

1. Only AVG Anti Virus and Power ISO showed up in the system tray. I usually have AIM/ZoneAlarm/Volume/afew other things showing up, but none were there after 5min of waiting after startup. The clock was also gone.
2. The quickstart menu on the taskbar was just gone.
3. Lots of programs didn't open up when I tried, like AIM, Word, Windows Messenger, etc.

I thought that was weird so I just restarted again. When everything started back up, the taskbar was completely gone. All there is is the skinny gray line, like how you can click it and move it to stretch up/down except it won't let me expand it, all I see is the tiny gray line.

I decided to try System Restore and it said...

"System Restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer and run System Restore again."

After some Googling, I found someone with a similar problem that suggested a few thigns.

1. Go into Admin Tools>Services and try to enable System Restore from there. I tried to do this and it won't work. When I right click it and hit properties nothing happens at all. When I right click and hit Start I get this message...

"Could not start the System Restore service on the Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency or group failed to start."

2. Try to make a new user with admin privileges and log in and try all this on that one.

I tried this too and it won't work. When I go to ... Read more

In the last few months I've been having alot of trouble with my computer.

First I started noticing slow loading times. For example, windows would load really slowly (it would be on the loading screen at startup for 5 minutes), installing programs would take at least five times as long as usual and it would take ages for my games to load. I scanned for viruses but there weren't any. I reformatted my PC and it seemed to fix the problem. However, after installing and playing a game (Call of Duty 4) for a few hours it started playing up again. Same problem; slow loading times. I reformatted once again. I played the same game again, and it froze. I tried restarting but it just blue screened at the windows loading screen...I reformatted once again and haven't installed the game since.

I move my PC around alot. I take it back and forth between houses every few weeks. About 50% of the time I've done this it starts playing up again. For example, last week when I moved my PC to another house I tried starting it up but I would get an error saying something about a missing DLL, and it told me to contact the system administrator or replace the DLL. I formatted my C drive partition (I created another partition last time I reformatted because I was sick of losing all my important files) to get it working again. Most problems I've had when I've moved my computer have prevented me from starting it up, but I didn't always get this DLL error. Another one I ... Read more

Start by testing memory:

MemScope (Floppy and CD images.)
Microsoft Memory Test (floppy or CD ISO image)

If you have enough memory sticks, you can test them by removing one at a time and see if the problem disappears.

If you are running Vista and can boot up, go to Start > Search and type:

Choose to run a memory diagnostic on next boot. Or, you can boot from the DVD and run it from there.

Before we get started, I'd just like to say that my computer is really messed up. Just recently i think my router messed up, because the internet is now only accessible on this computer, and not on the other one connected with it. (Yes, I've tried many many ways to fix that.) To add on to that, the internet on this computer is considerably slowed. Also, I am pretty sure that i have a browser hijacker. I can't click a link on google without getting redirected to '101links.com' or something like that.

Other problems include applications disconnecting themselves (exiting without my permission?), greyed out display options, and the inability to access my windows firewall. (The application tells me that I do not have the permission, or that 'due to an unexplainable problem' I can't access it.)

After many virus scans, nothing has been found, besides the everyday deletions and such. There is nothing much else I can think of doing, so I have attached extra.txt. Hopefully you can help.

Without further adieu:

Hi there. I'm trying to get my dad's laptop back to "normal" working condition. It's less than a year old - Dell studio 1737 running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2. Processor reads: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53 GHz with 4GB Ram and 64-bit OS.

Dad is a "clicker" - meaning he clicks on anything and everything. I'm trying to break him of that, but so far...well...he's having a lot of issues. I have no idea what he's downloaded. My brother *thinks* he fixed it by downloading other junk that didn't work, and now it's worse than before. It's running quite slow, IE closes on itself nearly every time you open it, random pop-ups when you navigate away from the homepage, etc. We use Dell Remote Access when he's away from home in case we run into something I can't talk him through - but we've had a ton of trouble with it and now we can't uninstall it - it gets hung up. I've tried to repair it with no luck, either. Last night I ran AdAware...and now I'm here. You've been so helpful in the past. Any ideas?!

There is also a dell backup thing I don't know what is for. It asks every day if he wants to backup - sometimes he says yes, sometimes no. Is it necessary?? Seems like a lot of wasted space. I have a large iomega external drive I back up his machine on every 3 months...

Oh - I also moved 90GB of movies he shot for his business last night to free up some space - but he has a... Read more

So I am losing my mind over my computer this week, It all started on Thursday. All four of my Virus scan softwares (Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes, AVG and Spyware doctor) which i run on a daily basis found numerous threats and infections. My computer was running very slow and there were many pop ups, plus I had to download Malwarebytes again becuase there was a problem with mbam.exe. As of Saturday night after running numerous scans with all the programs things started to look better, my computer was running normally and the scans were not picking up any viruses. Then on Sunday morning the scans picked up a few more trojans in System Volume Information. I have seen these before and knew that if you turn off system restore then it will get rid of them, yet when I tried the system restore tab was missing. I checked the services list and system restore was listed at started. I then read that if you change the name of system volume information i could solve my problem. When I right clicked on System Volume Information it said I couldn't rename it, access denied. I was also denied access when I just tried to open the folder, even though I am an administrator (guest login is turned off). I still have some of the threats quarentined that are from SVI, should I release them?I also noticed that I could no longer go into safe mode. I tried to go into to safe mode to scan for viruses as well, but each time i tried a message popped up saying "We are sorry! if the computer was... Read more

To find your System Restore, go to the partition where you install the OS, click it and go to the folder that says Windows.
Open it and go to system32, click it go to Restore again open it and you will see "rstrui.exe" that is an application.
Double click it and you are are in the System Restore.
Good luck and tell something.

Also, I went to housecall.trendmicro.com and did a free scan. A lot of things came up that I'm pretty sure were trojan viruses but I wasn't able to delete the files because it said they're in use. My system is full of spyware and other viruses, its an outdated system with a 40gb hard drive, 1.8ghz processor and 512 mb ram. My hidden files are not visible (i've tried folder options and all) and my D drive (on which I've installed XP SP2) is always out of space, I've hardly got 378 megs on it, its a roughly 10gb partition but the fact is that i have not got anything of that size on it. I deleted some files and moved other files of like 700 mb but in vain, whatever i do there just isn't any space left. Also i can't open my hard drive partitions by double clicking on them it gives me the "open with" dialog box. And i once installed a bluesoliel bluetooth usb dongle with my system, but after some time bluesoliel started hanging up and slowing my pc, so i uninstalled it but now whenever i start the system the, a found new harware wizard starts up saying that it has detected the bluetooth dongle, but it isn't even connected to it. My system takes a lot of time to start and the date is always set to 9th octber 2002. And there are like 5 svchost.exe running. The registry is all wrong and when i open startup in msconfig it shows me some programs which i have uninstalled a long time back. When i open add remove programs it says that there is a yahoo address auto complete but it doesn't get removed.

Please help me and recommend some authentic anti virus and antispyware program that i could install.

First of all I am running Windows Vista and it is generally working just fine. However...

On a couple of occassions recently, my laptop hasn't started properly. Instead of a log in screen, a box comes up saying a log in error occured and instructs me to view the event viewer to see what the problem is. I did, and it's under the 'Critical' category and is called Kernel Power (event id 41). What does this mean? I do not have enough knowledge of this area, but I know that, apart from an old game I've installed that runs perfectly on my laptop, nothing else in the system has changed, so I don't know why this is happening.

I've noticed today that windows live doesn't automatically sign my in when I start my computer, and when I try to log in manually it tells me I have an error. I look up the error code on the windows live support page and it tells me there is something wrong with my date and time settings. The date and time settings are correct though, and I have done nothing to the system to change this. I hunt around on the net and some page tells me to go to the date and time settings and sync to time.windows.com, which I try and do but I'm told an error occured when trying to do so. Very helpful. My anti-virus programme tells me that my computer date and time settings must be wrong as the anti-virus database is newer than my current system date.

I'm also getting certification problems when I log into hotmail, which I&#... Read more

Hello,You don't have even an antivirus or a firewall installed on your system. That is very risky!First of all, disable your spysweeper, because it can interfere with the fixes. When you enable it again, make sure you allow everything in your spysweeper, because those are the changes you made yourself, so don't let spysweeper block it again.* Uninstall Media Access via add/remove programs.Reboot.* Download: HosterUnzip hoster to an own folder, eg C:\Hoster Start Hoster.exe, click 'Restore Original Hosts' and click OK. * Perform an onlinescan with housecall and/or Etrust and let it delete everything it is finding.Download http://www.trojaner-info.de/cgi-bin/downlo...gi?file=sphjfixUnzip it to your desktop.Start SpSeHjfix and click "Start disinfection"Let it finish the job.Restore your websettings: Go to start > controlpanel > Internetoptions > Tab Programs.Click: "Restore Websettings"When done, post a new hijackthislog together with the log that SpSeHjfix produced. (it's in the same folder as SpSeHjfix)

Before posting my log, I have run an Ad-Aware scan. But, I am somehow unable to run a Trend Micro scan on my system. (Today only, as I ran one yesterday) I DID run a Panda free scan, which found 13 problems. Can I post my HijackThis log here without running the Trend Micro scan?

A:Lots of problems here!

Sure you can......whenever you're ready.

Here's the current instruction:

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

A:Lots of little problems (HJT log)

did i do that right?>first time.===========Hello While we understand your frustration at having to wait, please note that Bleeping Computer deals with several hundred requests for assistance such as yours on a daily basis. As a result, our backlog is quite large as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Although our HJT Team members work on hundreds of requests each day, they are all volunteers who work logs when they can and are able to do so. No one is paid by Bleeping Computer for their assistance to our members.Further, our malware removal staff is comprised of team members with various levels of skill and expertise to deal with thousands of malware variants, some more complex than others. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. In either case, neither of us want someone to assist you who is not familiar with your issue and attempt to fix it.We ask that once you have posted your log and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your thread or make further replies until it has been responded... I have hedgebuilders filter on my husbands computer. Last night we installed Norton 360 2.0. There were no problems until this morning the Norton said it could not update because of the proxy (hedgebuilders). I talked to hedgebuilders and they walked me through uninstalling and reinstalling their filter. No problems there but Norton would still not update. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled Norton. Now I have application errors popping up every where and the NAWDI bus enumerator problem. Norton still will not update it gives me the same error message. Norton isn't finding any virus'. We are using Windows XP.

Well I am not certain what the issue is yet but we can do a scan and rule out malware first. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.32) and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2If you have a previous version of MBAM, remove it via Add/Remove Programs and download a fresh copy.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Alternatively, you can update through MBAM's interface from a clean computer, copy the definitions (rules.ref) located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from that system to a usb stick or CD and then copy it to the infected machine. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives se... First of all, my computer operation is Windows XP Home Edition.

This started last Friday, when I restarted the computer, and my brother logged in. They were lots of popups, and programs installed by itself. We uninstalled the programs, and deleted the adware with, a program called Ad Aware. Then, I use this Anti Virus program (not norton anti virus) to scan for viruses. They were viruses, but the dumb program couldn't delete it. I thought, I guess the computer is okay now....and my brother just went on the computer, without any problems. But then the next day, I logged in, the internet wasn't working. Then I checked the other computer,to see if the internet was working, and it was (we have two computers sharing a modem) So, I thought there must be a virus blocking the internet connection. But the dumb anti virus program we had, couldn't delete it. So, I got Norton Anti Virus 2004 from a friend, so on the other computer (With the internet working) I tried to copy norton anti virus to a blank cd. So,that didn't work. My friend did it for us on her computer. So we installed it, and restarted the computer. But when I tried to login, I couldn't because, about 50+ more viruses were on my computer! And they were all trying to load when I logged in. Like how my msn messenger always pops up and signs in when I log in..so when all 50+ viruses are trying to load, I can't do anything...my friend told me to put the norton anti virus internet security cd in an...
