IE11 prompt "the page can't be displayed"

Q: IE11 prompt "the page can't be displayed"

I am working on configuring a kiosk for public use and have ran into issue in IE11 on Windows 7 OS.  When attempting to open a new window I receive "this page can't be displayed".  On this error page there is a button "fix connection problems".  If user selects button they are able to navigate through the troubleshooting and make their way to the control panel.  Is there a GP or registry where I can stop the prompting for "this page can't be displayed" or to disable the button "fix connection problems"?

Preferred Solution: IE11 prompt "the page can't be displayed"

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

1. I cannot find a solution for a problem accessing Microsoft forums websites from Windows 10 - IE11 and Edge browsers:
in EDGE - Hmm, we can't reach this page.   IE11 this page can't be displayed.
For about a year it worked at least from Edge. Now both cannot access Microsoft forums. All the other sites are accessible.
I am using a corporate proxy. The same sites are accessible from Windows 7 with IE11.
First I blamed our IE GPO with multiple settings. So for a test I placed my machine in Blocked OU (no IE GPO, proxy is set from different GPO).
Everything what I tried didn't help. The question: why just Microsoft forums (no other sites) are not accessible.
Did couple of tests from Windows 7 IE11 machines. The same Microsoft forums are perfectly accessible (all GPOs are applied).
Suddenly, found that one corporate Web App does the same : "This  page can't be displayed". On other Windows 7 it does work.
I am out of ideas now... cannot blame anymore our GPO or proxy...
Any advice?

IE11 on this computer abruptly stopped displaying websites with "This page can?t be displayed" error. Firefox on the same machine seems to function properly. No other obvious anomalies. Users software requires IE11 so it's critical to use that browser. Looks as if the virus software may be expired. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm running Win 7 Pro x64 and IE11. I often get a situation while browsing where I click on a link to read an article and the page comes up blank with the text: This page can't be displayed.

This condition seems to happen randomly. I usually have several tabs open. Once IE11 starts doing this, the majority of tabs produce the same blank page. I even opened a new tab and clicked on Google where the same thing happened.

The solution is to close IE11 and restart IE11. I've tried other solutions such as a complete IE11 reset, but that doesn't cure the issue.

Is there a fix for this condition?

sorry, i'm not a computer wizard although I know my way around a bunch of these things.  Have the strangest thing, which I can't figure out.  I have this website, which is giving me always the "Page can't be displayed" error, together
with the TLS and RC4 comments.
Strangly enough, this is the only site where this happens.  All other various sites are accessible (e.g. Google, Facebook, Youtube), so it doesn't seem to be a connectivity problem.   FYI : i also get this same problem with Chrome.
I believe I had no problems with this on my previous computer, who also had IE11.  It must be some of the security settings or some kind of access right, although nothing special is installed.
I have the TLS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 turned on.  I also tried using the SSL 2.0 & 3.0 but no success.
Any suggestions ?

Hi there, spreading this a little wider to see whether anyone else has experienced the same issue and whether anyone has found a workaround. Disabled strong security on the cert works around the issue as the prompt will not occur without strong security
Summary of issue:
When using Internet Explorer 11 on 2012 R2 with RDS or Citrix
and "Enable Strong Security" is set on a Personal Certificate, the prompt to ALLOW or DON'T ALLOW the application (in this case IE11) to access the certificate appears in another users session.

I have approximately 3 end users who receive the pop up window when downloading. The issue is, nothing happens when they click any of the options.  "Open" and "Save" simply get rid of the prompt, and "Save As" opens a dialog
box to browse to a spot to save, but it does not save.  It isn't a Windows group or a group policy otherwise we'd have more than a handful of users with the issue. Firefox is an alright workaround but we use IE11 in our environment so it's not
a permanent option.
How do I rid my users of this pop-up and have them always receive the orange ribbon at the bottom of their screen?

I'm currently stuck with a strange problem occurring only with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

We use a Bluecoat Proxy appliance but it may be the same with other proxies using web filtering.
Actually, on a Windows 7 with IE11 installed, when a user browse an Internet page trying to open a denied website in an iframe, we receive the custom websense page hosted on our Intranet telling that this is not allowed without problem.
When testing the same site with Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, Internet Explorer is asking the user's credentials to display the custom page in the iframe. When clicking on Cancel, I have a 401 error in the iframe, when entering the credentials, I receive the
custom page.
The Windows 7, WIndows 8.1 and Windows 10 are using the same GPO.
Any idea ?

OK, I'm having three problems.......

1.) For some reason, when I do a search and click on the site that I am interested in, it goes to a totally different site. I have to go back to the search engines site and click it two more times before it takes me to the site I requested.

2.) When I'm online playing Pogo, sometimes I get kicked out because a pop up appears in the page that I'm playing on.

3.) When I log onto Yahoo Messenger, my screen gets real small. I have to go to the Control Panel and maximize it again. It does it periodically other times as well, but mostly when I log on to Yahoo Messenger.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how I can get rid of it????

I have tried every proboard link out there and none will work for ANY proboard site. Also I am able to access them at work. This first happened on saturday and then I was able to log on again yesterday. Now today it is doing it again? What do you think? thank you again.
I also want to mention that I have emptied my temp files and deleted cookies, and that did not work. I have scanned my comp with McAfee and Microsoft Anti spy, just in case.

I have completely reset IE. I've tried adding to trusted sites. I've lowered all security settings. The person I spoke with at the company that designed the pump software had me update Adobe and Silverlight which neither helped. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to come up.
I can ping the IP address and that works fine. I can also access it with google chrome. I can't however do anything with chrome because its designed for IE. I was also was able to access it from a windows 7 computer we had here until someone updated it and I lost access on that as well.
I'm guessing there just some stupid setting that enabled during a recent patch.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Did you get the Anniversary Update (aka Feature update to 1607) about the same time? I may be that IE11 is no longer identifying itself properly to your fuel pump. I had a similar problem with Yahoo Mail, there's a workround that got it working again for Yahoo, try this...

These should be https:// secure sites.

Check your IE Advanced Settings (aka Internet Options), especially the Use SSL & TLS settings.

Can anyone tell me what is up with me not being able to enter secure sites? Any website that requires a transaction or secure information wont let me on. I asked the tech support lady at my ISP and she didn't have any idea what was causing it. She said it could be something to do with my AVG virus scanner. I have done all the things the page says when "The page cannot be displayed" notice comes up. I have fiddled with the internet options security settings and have not got anywhere.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong with my comp?

I am sick of not being able to purchase things and enter websites that have important info!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

(i am using internet explorer and have windows XP and the free, outdated version of the AVG anti-virus system)

Ok so here's the deal and Im hoping someone can help me...

Everything was working fine up until the other day... when IE crapped out on me thinking it was spyware or a virus I sorted through everything and found NOTHING.. repeated searches with SpyDoctor / Ewido / Norton / McAfee / Windows found nothing.. ran HiJack This.. found nothing out of the ordinary... even posted it to a couple tech sites... everything seems to be ok...

I have xindows XP, my ISP is Bellsouth (Westell Modem) going through a Belkin WirelessG router.. (ive been running this for a number of months now...) when everythings hooked up IE doesnt work but both my modem and router are connected... (XboxLive works - Wirelesses) and other programs like LimeWire / AOL / and everything else seem to have no problem establishing a connection, however IE doesnt work... so now heres the strange part... if I unhook the router and plug the modem directly into the computer.. IE works fine.. i dont understand why this is and I really dont know how to fix this.. I need to be able to have the router working and be able to access IE...

has this happened to anyone else? and more importantly does anyone know how to fix this? If anyone does, please take some time to walk me through it.. Thanks so much

I get this constantly. Unable to go to links. What do I do?

A:This page cannot be displayed

I think then, that you mean when you are browsing the web. That's Internet Explorer or Netscape, which aren't business applications. So I'm moving your Q on over to the Internet forum where someone with more brains than me about browsers will help you out.

Breifly what has happened: Last three days

While on the internet I am now not allowed to access any secured sites (https. I can not get to the log on screen at my bank, my back-up e-mail server, nor any other secure site. I get a message that says "page cannot be displayed"

Now as for what I have tried.

I have spent nearly eight hours on the phone with S.B.C., Yahoo, and Peoplepc. We reset all the security setting in Internet Explorer 6.0, They had me try and log onto some of their sites that perform tests on your computer. We turned off "Restore" and rebooted in safe mode. ran Norton and it found no viruis.
The internet people think there is a problem in my registry that is effecting "SSL 1" and/or "SSL 2" What do I need to send you and how do I do it for you to look and see if you seee anything wrong with my system?

I have norton internet security on my machine, but I keep finding it turned off by one of my co-workerd, how do I stop that too.

I have windows 7 64 bit on my computer.  I have cleaned out cache and everything else that I can think of.  But at times when I click on a link like yahoo mail or my bank page, I get this notice "This page can't be displayed?.  Is there something else that I can do to fix this?  I even clicked on "Fix connection problems" when "This page can't be displayed" notice pops up.  I also use IE 11.  I tried researching for an answer but cannot find anything.  They say something about "add-ons" might be causing the problem but don't know anything about add-ons.
thanks,  granny

A:How to fix "This page cannot be displayed"?

Add-ons are small bits of software that are 'added' to your basic browser to help with doing jobs you want doing.
You say you are using IE 11. Do you have a row of black print very near the top that starts 'File; Edit' and ends with 'Help' ? If you don't, press the 'Alt' key and it will magically appear !
Then click on 'Tools' ( in this line of text ) and you will get a drop-down menu appear which is divided into sections. At the bottom of the second section down, you will see a line which says 'Manage add-ons'. If you click on this, a large box will appear which lists all your add-ons. Now I don't know which add-ons you need, or want, but this is where you will find them. If you are still baffled by what you see here, post back with a list of your add-ons and we will take it from there.
There are known to be some problems with IE 11, I haven't run into any personally but then I don't use very much. It's not my default browser. It does have another feature which may help you, called 'Compatibility view' for web-sites which don't play 'nicely' with IE 11.
Again, click on 'Tools' and you will find it immediately below 'Manage add-ons'. This brings up a small box. At the top of it it says 'Add this web-site'. Type the internet address of the web-site you are having problems with into this box and click on 'Add'. The web-site will then appear in the larger box immediately below the one you typed it into.
As an example, say you bank with the 'Ban... Read more
