Need an Image Viewer with "Scroll to Zoom" feature

Q: Need an Image Viewer with "Scroll to Zoom" feature

So I need to a image viewer/editor with "Scroll to Zoom" feature. Basically when I scroll, the image should be zoomed instead of moving to the next picture.
Irfanview had this feature but its not there anymore. Or maybe I am not able to find it.

I know that Ctrl+Scroll will produce the result. But I need it to zoom with only the Scroll button.

So do you know of any program/software that has this feature. Any suggestions?

Preferred Solution: Need an Image Viewer with "Scroll to Zoom" feature

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Built in Windows Photo Viewer does that.

Hello

I'd like to ask you, whether there's a way (internally or via 3rd party software) to disable the feature which is slowly starting to drive me nuts. Namely, if you change your window layout to "list", you end up with several columns of files. If you try to click on a file which isn't in the leftmost column, the list will automatically scroll so that the column with the chosen file will become the leftmost. This effectively disables the ability to quickly rightclick a file that's not in the currently "focused" column.

Thank you for your time

A:A question regarding the "scroll on click" feature

Hi Treupp and welcome to the Forum
When I left click on a file in say the centre column then it stays in the centre when the pop up window with "Open" "Open with" and "Properties" at the bottom opens. If I left click on a file it just highlights it. If I double click on the file then, of course, it opens in my chosen program. I confirm I am in List view whilst doing this.
However if there is a file name in right hand column that cannot fit into the space to the edge of the Explorer window the file will scroll to the left to make it fit. Check you file name and have you got the Explorer window open to full screen?

Hello M4TE and welcome to Seven Forums. Sorry for the delay in responding but I just came across your question.

Most newer manufactured computers have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive. The manufacturer provides specific instructions on how to access that partition in case you want to restore your machine to the exact condition it was in when it left the factory. That means you'd have to go through the time consuming process of cleaning out factory bloatware (like free trials of programs you'll never need), installing programs you do need, updating everything, creating your personal settings, etc. Here is a general idea of how to access the hidden recovery partition.

HP Recovery From Partition

Let's say it took you a day or two to set up your machine to your liking using the hidden recovery partition. A System Image is like a snapshot of your entire hard drive. It will include everything from the operating system to all your programs, files, photos, music, all updates ... everything. Most folks keep it on a separate external hard drive. Let's say a week later you get a virus or your machine crashes for some reason. You can use that System Image to return your machine to the exact condition it was in when you made the image. Usually takes about 30 minutes or so and you're back in business. It's a lot faster and more convenient to only worry about a week of updates compared to probably months with the hidden recovery partition. The newer a System Image is the... Read more

Because I have only an external Zoom 56K faxmodem, I recently "removed" an entry labeled "56Modem" -- no "k" -- from Device Manager. Since then, at every boot-up, Win98SE claims it has detected new hardware "56Modem" and no amount of searching ever produces an acceptable driver. I've verified that "56Modem" no longer exists anyplace in Device Manager. Searched the registry and found no entries fo text "56Modem" -- but, using FIND, the text "56Modem" was found in Windows\System.ns0, Windows\Whinfo.dat, and Windows\System.dat; also in Windows\Inf\Drvidx.bin and Windows\Inf\Other\MicrosoftZoomsrwv.inf. A view of the last file lists "56Modem" as a Zoom-supported (or recognized) product. I'm hoping someone with a similar setup can tell me how to permanently delete "56Modem" from my system or locate a driver to install during the bootup process. Sure will appreciate your help!

A:Zoom "56Modem" in Device Manager

Just follow the prompts. When it says it can't find the driver, tell it ok. It will then add the 56modem to Other Devices and leave you alone.

yep it "was" fixed only for that time...

NOW EVERY TIME WE NEED TO PRINT ANY DOCUMENT WE NEED TO GO TO THE "SETTINGS PANEL" (a general term) and "UNCLICK" the stupid "MIRROR IMAGE" thingy...

the real question: how can I prevent the computer to "defaulting to the MIRROR IMAGE mode"?????

A:printer always "defaults" to "MIRROR IMAGE"

You need to access your "settings panel" via the Windows Control Panel.
ie Start, Control Panel, Printers and other Hardware, Printers & Faxes.
Right click on the Icon and select printing preferences.
Unclick the mirror image
The settings will then be saved as your default.

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

I copied some .mp3 files to another (old) PC on my home network, and it displayed the duration field correctly:

Also, the properties window correctly shows the duration also:

I noticed on most of the digital cameras that are in my price range have either a "digital" zoom or an "optical" zoom of no more than like 3 or 5 times, or maybe as much as 10x on a few models.

In contrast, I see camcorders listed where their optical zoom is much higher, like 35x or even 50x or more. Why such as difference? Does it have something to do with the available light or some other factors?

I saw a short video clip a friend sent me of a lighthouse accross the bay and he was able to zoom right in on the camcorder with no problem.

Thanks in advance

Well, when I zoom in the Windows Photo Gallery pictures gets pixelated instead of "smoothed" out like in XPs Photo and Fax Viewer. Kind of annoying.

Anyone know howto fix it?

Added a picture to show what I mean by pixelated.

A:Pictures gets "pixelated" when I zoom in.

Hi Stigern and welcome to Vista Forums

This is perfectly normal. Take a look at the following images. The second image is a magnified section of the first. No further editing other than zooming has taken place.
Notice how the head and upper body area of the animal is pixelated. Magnification actually involves a principle known as the Inverse Square Law - see: Inverse-square law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Using the diagram as an example, with S representing the pixel and r, 2r, and 3r representing the level of magnification, it can be seen that r equates to normal size (1:1). 2r is a doubling in size (2:1) and it can be seen that each pixel is now represented by 4 (don't forget that the doubling occurs both horizontally as well as vertically). Likewise, 3r is a trebling of the original size (3:1), and the original pixel is now represented by 9 pixels.

I have a problem with a missing "Printing-Foundation-LPDPrintService" feature/service from Win7 from a RT7 Lite install.
After dozens of tries I have narrowed the problem of not being able to install a printer driver apparently due to this missing feature/service.

What I don't understand is this is not a service that is listed under "Services". It's only listed in the right pane of the 4th page/tab; "Features Removal". The right pane, "Default Features". You apparently check these to keep or protect the removal of features/services which is the opposite of all the other steps where you check to remove an entry. Of course if this was documented properly, I would of looked there sooner.

I can correct this in future installs, but for now can this "Printing-Foundation-LPDPrintService" be re-installed in Win7 w/o reloading the entire O/S?

BTW; this is the missing "Core driver package" that I got when I tried to install a M$ driver off of their site since Canon does not have the driver available.

A:Can the "previous version" feature of win7 overwrite newer files?

Hello chatumao and welcome to Seven Forums.

From a Microsoft article about System Restore:

System Restore affects Windows system files, programs, and registry settings. It can also make changes to scripts, batch files, and other types of executable files created under any user account on your computer. System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos, so it cannot help you restore a deleted file. If you have backups of your files, you can restore the files from a backup.

**** BACKGROUND INFO ****

My e-mail client is Windows Live Mail Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.0206).

I've used various versions of this software for several years. I use it only to handle e-mail from four different hotmail.com e-mail accounts.

I have set the following safety options:

(1) Safe List Only

(2) Report junk e-mail to Microsoft and its partners

(3) Bounce the blocked messages back to the sender (when I click the "Delete and block" link on messages)

(4) If the e-mail is a mailing list, unsubscribe me from the mailing list (when I click the "Delete and block" link on messages)

My PC is a TOSHIBA laptop (P100-ST9612) running MS Windows XP Home Edition 2002 Service Pack 3, current with all critical updates. Intel Duo-Core CPU T2600 at 2.16GHz and 3GB RAM recognized out of 4GB RAM installed.

**** MY ISSUE ****

When I click the "Delete and block" link on an e-mail message, no e-mail address is added to the Blocked Senders list.

The Blocked Senders list remains empty.

I've discovered that I can manually add senders' e-mail addresses to the Blocked Senders list using the following menu selections.

Actions > Junk e-mail > Add sender to blocked senders list

A:Windows Live Mail "Delete and block" Feature Seemingly Broken

Perhaps, this issue is a function of Microsoft's hotmail.com service versus a glitch in the Windows Live Mail software.

The "Delete and block" link has added e-mail addresses to the Blocked Senders list in the distant past.

Good evening all! Thank you for your access here.
Now I am having a question about effecting of dangerous site blocking feature.

Some anti-malware softs are having too agressive site blocker.
Their blocker disconnect connection to websites which are obviously safe.

I think that some people, who are using anti-malware soft, which is including too agressive site blocker,
want to disable only this feature.

But the most of softs are showing that "You are in dangerous" or "This PC is in dangerous situation" when users turn off only site blocking feature.
I also faced the situation like above.

I want to ask you that...

Question 1:
Why should not the user turn off "site blocking feature" provided by anti-malware soft(Not "WEB scanning feature" or "HTTP scanning feature")?

Question 2:
The most of anti-malware software are showing warning even when the user turns off only Site blocking feature.
Are these warning correct in terms of keeping PC security?

Question 3:
I am using the latest edtion of Mozilla Firefox, and enable default "blocking feature" at "Security" tab of "Option" page of Firefox.
And I am also using ublock origin which is included "Malware domains" and "Malware Domains List" filters.
(I don't want to use some security addons (e.g. Adguard or Avira Browser Safety) because of heavy and not supporting e10s of Firefox).

I tried Google Toolbar's "Translation" tool and didn't like it. SO, I turned it off. But it did not go off. Every word I scroll over on a webpage, there is this little red magnifying glass that hovers over with the translation and tons of text. It is really annoying and I can't get it to go away. I tried dumping all of my temp. & cookie files and doing a disk cleanup, but its still there.

Any other ideas?

A:Solved: Google Toolbar - can't get "Translator" feature to stop (red magnifying glas

SOLUTION: You enable the google toolbar "translation" feature and then click "edit" and there you will see the "hover" feature. Just unclick both options and then uncheck Translation itself and all the hovering will be gone!!! I'll mark this thread solved..........I guess I don't have patience sometimes to wait for others to solve my problem

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and up until today Ive managed to fix most of my windows problems, but this one has me at my wits end. About a week ago, right after I installed a new DVD Burner and Nero 6 my computer (Windows XP) stopped showing the welcome screen when resuming from screen saver. It will still show the screen when resuming from standby mode, but I want to make sure the screen saver feature is not indicative of something worse. Whats more troubling is that I can go to the registry and set all the right keys and it still wont work. I am setting ScreenSaverIsSecure to 1 and NoAutoReturnToWelcome to 0. After doing this, the window shows the "On Resume...." checkbox is checked but the function is greyed out. Fast-user switching is turned on.

Here is an HJT Log of my system. Any Suggestions

source: Windows 10's "Controlled Folder Access" Anti-Ransomware Feature Is Now Live

With the release of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update last week, the "Controlled Folder Access" that Microsoft touted in June is now live for millions of users.
As the name hints, the Controlled Folder Access feature allows users to control who can access certain folders.
The feature works on a "block everything by default" philosophy, which means that on a theoretical level, it would be able to prevent ransomware when it tries to access and encrypt files stored in those folders.
The benefits of using Controlled Folder Access for your home and work computers are tangible for anyone that's fearful of losing crucial files to a ransomware infection.
If you want to give Controlled Folder Access a go, below are the basic steps to enable it on your PC.

It's been a while, but I use to hook my computer up to my big screen TV (S3-video) every so often and I could have sworn it was by going through Display, Settings and Advance. Once in Advance my NVIDIA card would be there and I would click on it and choose the clone option so that what was on my computer would be on my TV.

But this week-end I tried it and it no longer showed my Video card or anything remotely close to the screen I had used before, instead it now shows the typical dual monitor configuration/setup ie. extend desktop across both monitors.

I cannot figure how I lost my Video card screen where I could clone - am I just forgetting where I went and going to the wrong spot now?

Does any know if I'm going to the wrong spot? Or if something could have happened to take that screen away?

Thank you.

A:Cannot find "clone" feature on video card

Nvidia comes out with new drivers about monthly. You might have downloaded a new driver. The option should be there still, but it may be in another place or they might reword "clone" as something else.

Something that has bothered me since I installed Win7 is the way WE handles folder navigation. When one clicks on the arrow next to a folder (left pane), often, the folder drops to the bottom of the left pane. And often, there is a short delay before it does so.

This irritates me to no end. I'll click on a an arrow, the sub folders drop out, I go to click on the desired folder, but suddenly the entire tree drops to bring the parent folder (whose arrow I clicked) to the bottom of the pane, leaving me to click on the wrong folder.

Does anyone find this useful in anyway? My first thought is "what were they thinking???"

At any rate, is there a hack available for this? I can live with it if I have to (as I have learned to live with Full Row Selection), but I'd really rather not.

Thanks for any ideas.

James

A:Windows Explorer Navigational drop "feature"

James,
Don't quite understand the problem because I've been unable to duplicate the problem.

Suggest you set the Folder options shown in the attached snapshot.
I more suspect your problem is caused by other software running in the background. If you are running more than one anti-virus software then 100% remove all except for one of them.

My personal advice on av software is to 100% delete all of them and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

Hi, I am having trouble with my search feature on win XP. I used to be able to press "widows key+F" and it would bring up the "Find Files or Folders" window; now it does nothing. When I open a folder and press the "Search" icon (with the magnifying glass) it used to do the same thing; again now it does nothing. Is it possible that I turned this feature off somehow? And if so, does anyone know how to turn it on? I have tweakXP and I thought that maybe I turned it off in there, but I looked and didn't find anywhere that I could've turned it off. I am looking for a few really big WAV files that are taking up space, and I just can't find them. Can anyone please help?

Why does it ask to "Show Images" in Yahoo mail app? I accidentally clicked on "show images" on what looks like a phishing email. I didn't click on the hyperlink, but I clicked the "show images" button. Am I infected with viruses now?? LOL

What is the purpose of "show images"? I've heard opening a PDF can execute programs, but can viewing images inserted into the body of an email have any negative effect on the security of your device? If not, what is the purpose of this feature? Thanks!

Since I haven't been able to find anything that directly refers to this, I'm taking a shot in the wild blue here, in case maybe someone here knows at least enough to point me in the right direction.

I am a long-time Windows XP user. But I have a couple of newer computers (including a laptop) that came with Windows 7 installed; the manufacturer does not support XP on these newer computers. Without drivers for the newer hardware, XP is not an option.

There are many things I don't like about Windows 7, but I've been able to overcome most of them, either by settings changes, or with "Classic Shell" (Welcome to Classic Shell) which allows users to change the Win7 UI to be much more like XP.

But there is one problem I haven't been able to overcome, which is the thing circled in red below:

I think it is called a "filter" popup, but I'm not sure.

The problem I have is, I never use this, but it sure gets in the way of what I do use, specifically resizing the column widths or moving the columns. In WinXP, there is a lot more leeway when you select the right side of a column. In Win7 (due to this infernal thing) you have to select it much more precisely, otherwise that filter thing pops up instead.

If anyone happens to know exactly what this thing is called, or even better, if anyone could suggest where I might go to find a way to turn it off, that would be greatly appreciated.

A:Can Windows 7 Explorer "Filter By" feature be disabled?

Why don't you just run Windows XP? A whole lot easier then trying to change a new system to an old system...Or do this...Use the side closer to the label and not the arrow. There is a large target area for resizing on the right side of the line.

I have a fairly new Seagate 3TB USB3.0 drive that I've been using as a data backup on my desktop. I've been just copying stuff over to the drive once a month or so, but decided that I may as well use the backup feature in windows 10. However, I'm running into an issue.

The drive is usable and I can drag/drop files over to it. I've tried "Include in Library" both my data drive and my backup drives, but that doesn't seem to work. I've tried searching the forum but didn't find anything. Any suggestions?
