Hotkey support software error on keypress (FN+F5) etc

Q: Hotkey support software error on keypress (FN+F5) etc

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my PC, coming from Windows 10. Installed all the drivers and upgraded bios without any complications at all. But when I press a hotkey-combo, for example FN+F5 to lower screen brightness, I recieve an error saying "hpCaslNotificiation has stopped working". If I press this, or any other FN+key combo I'll get this message (even though the screen does in fact dim). Even if I press ten times, I will get ten error messages on top of each other. I have the latest Hotkey Support drivers installed right now, and I have tried to install an earlier version to no avail. Can anybody help me? I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, I'm using HP ProBook 640 G2 with Windows 10 v1607 Build 14393.693.I installed all drivers and anything is working fine except the Hotkeys. Fn+F1/F8/F9/F12, the I/O, wireless and mute switch are working by default, but Fn+F4/F5/F6 and F10 aren't working. When I try to install the Hotkey support I get the error 2753 "The File 'lanwlanswitchingservice.exe1' is not marked for installation." I tried version 6.2.29.1 Rev.A and 6.2.24.1 Rev.A. Same error.I have a workaround for the problem using the windows battery symbol, but I would like to use the keys. Can you help me? Best regards,Alex

Is there a program that would let me simulate a keypress?
For example, when I press a button (ENTER for example) it would make the computer think that I pressed ENTER 100 times in a row.

I had set the 'Black Button' on my T430s to lock my computer. I've used it for several years.  System Update just installed ThinkPad HotKey features Integration 8.85.03 and now my Black Button is dead.  The last know good version was 8.80.05. Does anyone know how I can either revert to the older driver or set the newer version to lock my computer when I press the 'Black Button'.  Thank you.

Is there a software such as Hotkey maker? Or whatever it is as long as it can make a new Hotkey..

Why? Because my keyboard has a few buttons that are not working, so I need a hotkey for those so I will not find that characters anymore.

I just want a SIMPLE hotkey maker, just a very simple one, I just want it for my keyboard problems, and not other things.

Many many thanks

A:Solved: HotKey maker software?

Create a Shortcut on your Desktop.
Right Click the New Shortcut you created.
Select Properties.
From there you can create a Shortcut key sequence.

You could also do a Google Search to find many HotKey freeware.
You could also search Snapfiles.com for HotKey and find many free applications.

I did use Google before making this post but got overwhelmed by the number of possibilities. Can someone kindly recommend a good tool (preferably freeware if possible but shareware will be equally good).

Hey guys!

Just found out something really cool and useful. It's like 3D flip but better, as all the active windows become smaller but are facing forward, which makes it easier to choose the needed one. When you point them with your mouse, it shows the software/folder name.

I know the alt + tab and win + tab combos, but there has to be some for this one too I guess. Haven't found it even though I tried searching the Interner for hotkey guides.

The way I found this option was when I was using my Logitech mouse on my laptop, and started customizing the mouse buttons... I found a button command "switch between software", chose it, and found this option out. How can I do the same thing without my mouse, just using some keyboard combo?

Here's a pic of how it looks. Originally Microsoft Word was on top, after pressing the button all the windows were resized and placed next to each other.

Thanks in advance guys!

A:Hotkey for switching software (like 3D flip)?

Not sure if it helps but you could try Win+T which will bring all active taskbar previews up at 1 time allowing for quick selection of the app/window you want

OS

EDIT: for some reason it's stopped working...Hmm, looking for solution now

UPDATE 2: it only shows multiple instances if you have more than 1 windows for the same app open e.g. 3 tabs on IE...

Sorry

I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

A couple of weeks ago, I landed on a site that downloaded XP Antivirus 2008 on my computer. I ran SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. It got rid of most of it, I think. It still shows up in my "Start" menu.

Since then, from time to time a window starts popping up 50 to 100+ times saying something like "HotKey.exe error PowrProf.dll" That's not verbatim, as I had to keep hitting the x key on each window that kept popping up to try stop it.

Also, my mouse starts to stop working and I have to use the laptop's mouse pad to move the cursor.

There are also a couple of things that Ad-Aware shows as an infection Search and Destroy does not pick up on. However, it doesn't seem to be able to delete as the same thing keeps coming up on Ad-Aware after I reboot.

I'm running WindowsXP SP3.

I hope that helps describe the situation.

I noticed that alot of people are experiencing this problem and I've decided to help.

Well I'm not sure if this would work for you but it sure worked for me. I currently use Toshiba Notebook of the F20 series.

I had the same problem and I managed to fix it successfully. Here's what I've done:

I uninstalled the Toshiba Hotkey Utility and Toshiba Utilities.
After rebooting the computer I clicked on Toshiba Assist icon on the desktop.

Next I clicked on the Protect and Fix tab and then Preinstalled Drivers Depository.

A screen appears displaying tools and utilties. Just click on it and you should have a list of the preinstalled files on the left.

I suggest that you click on the Common Modules first and install that before installing other Toshiba components.
Afterwards install Toshiba Utilties and Toshiba Hotkey for Display Devices.

This should hopefully help.

My apologies if this doesn't work out.

Hi All - a very frustrated newbie here.

I did have Vista installed on my laptop, and recently a strange occurunce started happening - everytime I pressed ANY key on my keyboard Windows Media Player would aggresively open, and dominate my desktop, I tried AVG, trojan reomver, and NOD32 - none of them found a problem.

I searched google endlessly looking for an answer - all I could find was someone saying that the got aorund this problem by installing Windows 7.

Last night I sat down and installed Windows 7, all of the install went fine, not a glitch - when it was all finished I jubilantly pressed the G key on my keyboard feeling smug that I had gotten rid of the virus/torjan - but guess what, out came Windows Media Centre -AAARRRGGGGHHHHHH - So what I went on to do, is disable Windows Media Centre in Windows Features within Control Panel - of course this stopped WMP popping up - but now I have Windows giving me an error message to say 'Shell32.dll wants to open, but Windows does no know what to associate the file with' - So I guess now I have switched WMP off, the infected Shell32 wants to run, but I can't as I have disabled WMP - hence why I am getting the error message..

My question to the tech wizards, is how can I replace/rebuild/reinstall a non-infected Shell32.dll file? Is it indeed the System Shell32.dll that is at fault/??

I assume that this is an altered file due to a virus as no virus proggys pick it up - but who knows, it might be a clean install if nothing fo... Read more

I'm going to guess no, but will be happily corrected by anyone with a surface.

It's likely that the KB sounds are considered system sounds, so if you decrease those, you decrease all of them.

Hi,
I have a vexing problem that probably has a simple answer, and I'm sure this fine community knows what it is. When the following code runs in my application I get a problem that eludes me. The AnswerInput textbox is used for input, and I use the KeyPress event to trap the Enter keypress. However, whenever the user presses the enter key, my computer beeps from the speaker. The procedures that are called have not been altered at all, and this is the new code that has been added just prior to the beeping starting. The beeping seems to occur after the TestNextCard or TestShowCard procedures return to this procedure.
What is causing the beeping? And how do I turn it off?

Any help is appreciated.

I have no idea how to write what I thought would be a simple macro...

Sub keypress()
Do
If Cells(R6, C2).Value = "S" Then SendKeys "{F11}"
ElseIf Cells(R6, C2).Value = "S" Then Exit Do
ElseIf Cells(R6, C2).Value = "B" Then SendKeys "{F12}"
ElseIf Cells(R6, C2).Value = "B" Then Exit Do
ElseIf Cells(R6, C2).Value = "X" Then Exit Do
End If
Loop
End Sub

That is my unsuccessful and frustrating attempt.

Cell B6 in excel contains a formula. The result is the letter W
(for Wait) until certain information elsewhere in excel is entered and updates the formula.

After information is fed into the formula the displayed result will be either the letter S, B or X.

If the letter is S I want the F11 keyboard key to press automatically.
If the letter is B I want the F12 keyboard key to press automatically.
If the letter is X I want nothing to happen and the macro to finish.

I want the macro to loop and continously monitor until one of the above three results occur.

Please help I am going insane

Welcome to the board.

Your syntax is incorrect, and SendKeys method shouldn't be used unless absolutely necessary (which in this case it isn't). Try:

If Cells(6, 2).Value = "S" Then
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogSaveAs).Show
ElseIf Cells(6, 2).Value = "B" Then
Charts.Add
ElseIf Cells(6, 2).Value = "X" Then
'do nothing
End If

A:Keypress mimic mouse click

Here's the thing. Do you have any other controls on the form which accept keypresses? Like a combo or text box. And if so, if they have the focus when you press they will receive the #1 too. But you know that.

To remove that possibility, reset the key to 0 if pressed. This way nothing happens. This will unfortunately remove your ability to type the number 1 into the text box. You could get around that if need be.
Code:
Private Sub Text1_KeyPress(KeyAscii As Integer)
If KeyAscii = 49 Then KeyAscii = 0
End Sub
In the form's properties, set Key Preview to True.
Add this code to your form. It says if the 1 key is pressed, then the Command button's click event is called. If you want to use the Keypad then Numlock has to be set first or it won't work.

Code:
Private Sub Form_KeyPress(KeyAscii As Integer)
If KeyAscii = 49 Then Command1_Click
End Sub

I have the CAPS LOCK/NUM LOCK enabled so that I can tell when I accidentally turn them on.
I use Vista Home Premium; Asus Laptop.
I use Logitech's Cordless Number Pad for entering numbers and the laptop's number pad with the NUM LOCK key set to OFF to navigate around the screen.
With the Num Lock OFF I get keypress sounds whenever I use the L/T Num Pad. I don't have the problem with the Num Lock OFF.

Is there a way of disabling the keypress sounds from the L/T Number Pad while keeping them on for the laptop (without having to press the NUM LOCK key - otherwise I wouldn't have bought the Pad)?

I have emailed Logitech about this and waiting for their reply but I think this is more of a operating system issue.

I am a computer professional and Electrical Engineer and Visual Basic Software Developer. Please try to help me with this weird problem I am encountering. When typing on my Logitech G15 Keyboard, the characters are typed correctly in Windows Notepad.exe program in both Windows 7 and Windows 8. With Windows 7 this problem was intermittent and is not currently exhibiting this bizarre behavior. The problem seems consistent on Windows 8. This problem only occurs with the number buttons 1 through 0. When pressing the numbered buttons, not on the keypad but on the main qwerty part of the keyboard, on web forms only, both Chrome and IE10, the web form gets the character that was the last non-number key I pressed on the keyboard. For example, if I press the 'a' key on the keyboard then the '2' key what I see on the web form is 'aa'. If I then press the 'c' key and followed by the '7' key on a web form text field, such as MY PASSWORDS and LOGIN ID's, can you tell I am angry?, I see 'cc' on the web form. Did that make sense to you? It's almost like a cruel joke. Thinking that, I performed a Antivirus Scan using Norton and the free online web scan from Trend Micro. Norton found 34 tracking cookies and nothing more. Trend Micro found nothing. This problem occurred before I changed keyboards and spent a 'dollar sign'' 100 dollars on a new Razer Black widow keyboard. The problem followed the keyboard. The ... Read more

I am using windows 7 and when I press any key on my keyboard for the first time windows makes a beeping noise. I can continue typing perfectly fine without any noise but then once 30 seconds is up it beeps again, even if I have been continuously typing.

If I watch a video for a few minutes or do something that doesn't require the keyboard it will not beep until the first key press again, then the 30 seconds until it does it again. I can walk away for an hour and it will not beep at all until the next time I press a key.

I checked my system tray and the only program I have open is Comodo (the free firewall).

Active process;
Firefox.exe
Explorer.exe
csrss.exe
dwm.exe
nvxdsync.exe
nvvsve.exe
taskmgr.exe
taskhost.exe
cfp.exe
winlogon.exe
That's all, it is a recent installation so pretty much nothing is installed, I reinstalled over windows XP. I never had this beeping problem in the time I used XP.
The first few minutes of use wasn't too annoying but now it is painful hearing the beep every 30 seconds.

Hello,

I'm having a strange problem that just started a few days ago. I have a laptop with Windows XP Home edition and if I press a key, any key Explorer loads. I can't type any thing without multiple copies of Explorer loading.
I have ran the following programs and have not found the problem:
Norton Antivirus with the latest LiveUpdate
Spybot Search & Destroy v1.1
Ad-aware v6.0

I've checked my startup group, HLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run,
and my running processes list and have not found anything unusual.

I could really use the help since my laptop is useless now.

A:XP/Home Any keypress on desktop loads Explorer

go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Hi All,
Last resort time...
* I've got a friends PC (WinXP, P4 2.4GHz, 1Gb RAM, plenty of free HDD [200GB IDE]) with a frustrating fault. I'll be honest, I'm stumped as to whether it is a hardware or software issue.
* PC was presented with the usual malware infection symptoms (running slow, etc), KAS2010IS installed and up to date 'ish, couldn't update because the system was running so slow.
* Other attempts to access the Internet were successful, but so slow as to be unusable.
* It is impossible to access bios, or any 'pre-windows' menus, as PC locks if and keypress is made. Hard restart required.
* D/L Combofix to flash drive from my PC and put was able to run it on infected PC. Reported that no Recovery Console was installed, attempt to install stalled with D/L at 0.3%. Long story short, managed to install RC and run Combofix which did find and remove a number of infections.
* On restart Windows ran better, but Internet access still very slow.
* Installed Malwarebytes and ran a full scan that came up clean (update was not possible.)
* Was able to get PC into safemode though MSCONFIG, but scans didn't detect any infections
* installed HDD to my PC to scan, scan hung at 32% and caused issues with my PC. Issue were resolved and scans came up clean.
* Uninstalled KAS and MBAM, no improvement.
* Reset IE8 and Internet options, no improvement.
* Checked network connection settings, all ok.
* Installed wireless USB NIC and connected to net... Read more

Not sure what the value of "stress tests" might be...did you run the appropriate hard drive diagnostic?

Replace the CMOS battery?

System manufacturer and model?

Try running RKill (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill) and SUPERAntiSpyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/)(Update First) in safe mode (With Networking)
If that doesn't work, run Kaspersky's Rescue Disk (http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk)
Hope this works!

I have a bakery and I need a program to run my business. I need a program that I input the order, it prints out the order for the cooks and it automatically sends the information to an invoce. I have around 150 customers. Right now I input the information in excell, but I don't know how to send that information to an invoce. For this reason I go to quickbook and input the information again to print out the invoce. I need a way to send the information from excell to quickbook. For example if I modify the information in excell i want it to be modified in quickbook and the other way around. I need to know if there is software already design to do this kind of job for a bakery. Please give me the links of the programs.
Thank you,
Roalx

Hi ladies and gentleman!

I am searching for reliable, secure, and fast Remote Support Package and/or Remote Administration Software on the enterprise level.

I know about RealVNC, TightVNC, Windows Built-in Remote Support, but Iím looking for something ďmoreĒ reliable, with less user interaction & knowledge required.

Anyone on here know of any out on the market? Iíd appreciate any links or information that you could provide.

It would be great if someone has actually tested or used some of the software & could recommend it, but even if you havenít used them any type of reference would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & have a wonderful day!

Shane

PS: I did a search, but I kept ending up in the malware & virus removal section.
