Preferred Solution: Bsod after joining server in blackops

For anything regarding erasing your history and maintaining privacy, I really recommend downloading History Fixer. It deletes all traces of online and offline computer activity including Internet searches, history and chat sessions. Includes a file shredder feature.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/7JS9gZ. (This link will automatically start a download of History Fixer that you can save to your computer.)

Make sure all drivers are installed from your motherboard support site for your system and Windows 7 64bit software.
Security Software: ??? I recommend either of these two setups:Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Good and Free system security combination.
Download and install the security setup of your choice, update the software, and then run a full scan of your system for viruses and malware. If you only install MSE, I would also suggest installing and updating Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download, but do not start the free trial/full version of Malwarebytes. Run a full scan with Malwarebytes after updating it. Post back the results.

when joining a server you might have your game crash and go back to your desktop screen there is a simple salution to this, open task manager ctrl+alt+del then click on processes tab, find Bf2, right click it and select Set afinity make sure only cpu 0 is selected.
this is all you will need to do the down side to this is that you will have to do this every time you load the game. but for people that have this problem, Im afraid i have not come across any other salution.

I have a little problem. I am running XP on a workstation and i need to join a domain on win2000 server. When i try it as usual (and as it is working on EVERY other my computer running also XP), i get immediately an error, that it canť reach the domain controller. I don't know why, because i get IP/DNS from the server as normal.
I suspect the comodo firewall blocking ut, but no message pops up, and no logs are saved.

Can anyone help? Its really only on this workstation, and there is

XP sp2, comodo, Spybot, SG, Avast

on every other computer (even with vista) it works, so i suppose the server is working fine.

Hello, I'm having trouble with trying to join my client computer to the server domain. My client is Windows 7 Professional and the server domain OS is Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. I tried the usual method of going to System-Change Settings-Change-and entering the domain name to join. However, I get the message saying:

An active directory domain controller (ad dc) for the domain sean.local could not be contacted. Ensure that the domain name is typed correctly.

I know for a fact that the domain name (sean.local) is correct. On my DC, I have Active Directory, DHCP and DNS installed. Its weird because I could ping the server IP just fine and get a response, but when I ping the domain name (sean.local) I do not get a response. I get a message saying "Ping request could not find host sean.local. Please check the name and try again."

I think the issue I'm having with not being able to join the domain has something to deal with the DNS server. I will post the network configurations for both the client and the server domain and hopefully we could get this client to finally join the domain once and for all. Thank you everyone for your help, I appreciate it.

*Both of these machines had their IP settings manually configured, not obtained automatically.*

So far it has only happened right after getting into a League of Legends game. Usually at about 2-4 minutes in it happens but several times it has happened after 20-30 minutes of game play. It has only happened once when I wasn't in the middle of a game and I'm still not sure if it was actually the same problem.

After restarting the computer and going to the errors section is shows 5-6 errors similiar to the ones bellow all titled as "VIDEO HARDWARE ERROR" in a 1-2 minute period of time follow by the final error "SHUT DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY" which is where I'm presuming I hit the power button until the computer turned off. They all have slightly different codes as can be seen below.

I have yet to complete a game all the way through because of this problem.

UPDATE: Also recently roamed into the "performance information area" and noticed it says "new hardware detected your windows experience index needs to be refreshed" and shortly after hitting the REFRESH button I believe it got to around the testing windows aero effects stage and I got the BSOD again. I guess now I know it's not specifically from League of Legends although that is only the second time it's happened outside of LoL.

A:joining pcs together

All machines are must be in the same subnet, i.e. 192.168.0.x where x is any number. The subnet mask should be for most small networks.

Turn off any firewalls for debugging. If the firewall is the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses. Note that some firewalls must be completely uninstalled to stop them from affecting your networking.

PING each computer by IP address, and if successful, PING by name. You can obtain the IP address of a computer by opening a command prompt (DOS window) and typing IPCONFIG. This should work for any Windows version.

All computers should be in the same workgroup for computer browsing to function properly. File & Print Sharing has to be enabled on any computer you wish to share files or printers from. You also need to actually share the resource in question from My Computer, right click on the drive/printer/folder, and select sharing.

If you encounter difficulties accessing computers that are visible in Network Neighborhood, make sure the computer being accessed has an account with the same name/password as the system connecting to it uses to login.

While the default NetBIOS setting is correct for normal network configurations, it's possible for it to be altered, and it costs nothing to make sure it's correct. NETBIOS over TCP/IP must be enabled for normal network browsing.

I just completed downloading a DVD. I open the file and there are 29 RAR files with the extension r01 thru r29. Then there are 64 unknown files with the same extensions: r30 thru r93. How do I turn all this into recordable DVD files?

click on the first one - either r01 but usually there is an unnumbered one
winrar will do the rest
the 'unknown' files are rar files, winrar only recognizes the first 30

and this thread will probably get locked

suggest you read the rules, which are guidelines but called rules anyways

I've installed W7 Enterprise Full and am trying to join an old NT4 domain. Keep getting the error:

"Your computer couldn't not be joined to the domain because the following error has occurred: the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"

Now a quick Google reveals several threads about this, some which are resolved, some which aren't.

Found this: Just to mention that the issue has been solved... secpol.msc ---> Microsoft network client: Send unencrypted password to connect to third-party SMB servers set to enabled and voila

But it hasn't worked for me. Is there a definitive answer? Worked fine for Vista...

Thanks in advance,

A:Joining an NT domain

It may not be possible, or if it is possible you'd have to deactivate so much security on the win 7 box that it may as well be Win3.11.

Are any of the DCs on the same segment? Pre-AD BDCs advertise their presence by registering themselves in the 0x1C group in WINS, in addition to the unique 0x1B registration for the PDC. If your win7 box is not within broadcast range, you'd need either WINS (*shudder*) or an LMHOSTS file.

A packet trace is the best way to troubleshoot network interop issues (www.wireshark.com). If you generate a trace of the failed domain join attempt, zip it up, and upload it here, someone may be able to spot the problem.

Is there a way to designate a specific OU when joining a PC to AD so that I don't have to join it, then performa separate action of moving it from the default Computers OU to the desired custom OU?

For example, I want a laptop to end up in the following custom OU: "<Domain>/SF/Laptops/WIN7" .

(Interesting note - when I typed the reference OU above without the quotes, the ""WIN7"" is automatically changed to "Windows 7" when I save the thread.)

A:Joining Win7 PC to AD

To the best of my knowledge, there isn't. I would simply add machines in batches (i.e: if you've an OU for the marketing department, add all the machines for that department, then move them into that group), and then move all the desired machines into the OU. That's what we do.

(and I'm curious to hear if someone knows how to do this)

Try using the Windows zero configuration service to connect your wireless connectror to the router. Go to control panel click admistrative tools then click services. Now scroll down to near the bottom of the page and you should see "wireless zero configuration manager. Make sure that this is on and set to automatic so it says on. Close this and go back to your desktop and look in the system tray the blue 1/2 in line on the very bottom of your screen near the clock and look for a small tv screen with blue half circles going half way around it. Right click it then a pop up should appear and left click "view available networks" Then find your router click on it then click connect. If you are using security then it will ask you to enter the pass word or phrase. Then it should connect to your router. hope it works

Hi Guys,

My Son-in-Law has a Wireless connection with Orange. He uses XP Pro. Connected by ethernet cable is my daughter's computer. My grandaughter's computer is connected by a Belkin wireless connection 802.11g. All three have access to the internet via the Orange wireless router.

My Son-in-Law now wants to add my two grandson's computer, 3 in all, too the network.

I have a little knowledge on computers but not a lot on networks. I appreciate that I will have to buy 3 USB or PCI wireless connectors (NICs?).

Having loaded the drivers and then connected the NIC(?) what happens next

A blow by blow account for dummies would be really appreciated

Many thanks for any help given

Actually, once the adapters drivers are installed properly, the next step would be to open the wireless client interface and search for wireless networks. If you have encryption enabled (highly recommended), you'll need to enter the encryption key that you setup in the router to connect.

i downloaded a file splitter software cos i didnt have a big enough memory stick...when i tried to join them back together it would either say that the file is corrupt or cannot play....or (when it does join successfully) it joins but not properly...FOR EXAMPLE: i had an .avi file that was split into two 700MB files. when i joined them it came to 1.4GB (ish)..so when i came to actually play the file although it has joined in file size it only plays the first avi file as a whole....
...incase im not clear...let's say i have a 30MB .avi file that is split into 2 = 2 X 15MB....when joined makes 30MB but only play the 1st half (15MB) of the .avi file as if that was the entire 30MB

Why not ask the Admin of the Domain what the requirements are.

They would need to add you to the Active Directory of the Domain before you can connect.

If you are worried about them accessing your files then turn off Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing etc. in the Advanced Sharing settings.

I have a 6 yr old Dell, works fine. Plan on buying another Dell soon, just want to upgrade. I've been told Radio Shack sells a cable whereby both machines will work together as one more or less. If so, I have lots of questions....
Do I need special programs?
I use dialup, will either machine be available to pick up mail or go on the web, naturally one at a time. Does my server allow this type of operation or will they balk?
Do both PC's need to be powered up or is this "cable " just a pass thru.
Is operation of both or either PC done from either operator position.
Whats this cable called?

A:Joining two machines

IF both machines are equipped with a Network Adapter, then a cross-over Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable is required.

That would allow you to set them up in a peer to peer network, also it would allow one (the Host) to be able to access the internet and the second PC to use that connection, but both PC's have to be on.

Without knowing if both PC's have a network adapter (ethernet port) it's not possible to say if this will work for you. Ethernet cards (to add-in) are cheap for normal desktop PC's

Each PC operates independently, but the "network" created by such a cable allows you to access the data on one PC from the other. Essentially that is the limit of the cross functionality obtained by connecting them. (I have 4 networked here, sharing printers, broadband and files)

All this depends on the version of Windows on each PC as to how easy or hard it is to set up.

Hi all

I have a utility program I purchased called pdq. It came to me in the form of pdq.001 through pdq.014. Also included was a file called pdq.sfv. After joining them (apparently successfully) with Mastersplitter, I now have a file called pdq with no extension. Im assuming there is someway to convert it to an executable file and install it.

What do I do with it from here?

Thanks much

A:Re-joining a file

If you still have the originals use the pdq.sfv file to combine the other files. You will likely have the extension if you combine them with the program that split them.

Just put the 14 files plus the sfv file in a single folder and select the pdq.sfv file. If that doesn’t work download Easy SFV Creator and read the help file for recombining files.

I don't see a reply. Even though this is an old post, I'll try to close it out with a response.
Yes, you must have the Pro version, and yes it will cost you close to $100, maybe less for students.

Your might as well upgrade to 8.1 if your haven't. It is free.

BUT... be careful. Your upgrade registration must match the version you are running.
If you buy a 8.0 upgrade to Pro, apply that before you make the free upgrade to 8.1.

If you are already at 8.1, be sure to buy the 8.1 upgrade to Pro.

I hope that is clear.

Good luck.

Hi folks,
im searching for something ic ant find i searched the entire CP of windows 7 but i cant find anywhere HOW to JOIN my excisting homegroup Its just a homegroup called MSHOME
with 2 other PC's on it running windows XP pro SP2 and windows XP Home SP1

So how can i join that group??

A:Joining a homegroup

workgroup and homegroup are two different things.... you dont name your homegroup... all you do or have to do is to enter the same password when joining a homegroup, on all desired pc's. Tho they all have to be on same workgroup, i'm guessing thats MSHOME. j

The Homegroup will only work with existing 7 pcs that i know of, not sure bout 08 server or the upcoming 7 server ( would imagine so). Tho sharing files thru workgroup with the hybrid pc network is still possible without the use of a Homegroup.

Say you have two computers, and they're linked together, as one, sharing the processor load. With either computer able to access the other's hard drive as it's own. With one monitor if possible.

Could this ever work? If so, how? Would 3rd party software be required? Special OS? Cabling? (Don't even mention USB...way to slow)

I had no idea where to put this thread...move it if necessary.

A:Joining two computers as one

This is called a cluster.

You should require linux or Windows 2000 advanced server.

As fast as possible networking is nice.

The Windows 2000 clusters like high spec machines, but the linux clusters can use lots of smaller specced rigs effectively.

When you use a system like Google or something its not a single machine but rather a cluster of machines like this.

In linux there is a system called beowulf clustering. Its useful because if you have a lot of lesser specced machines you can use them all at once to work on problems, etc.

XP Pro on a laptop (named Laptop), a PC#1 (named Mark5) and a PC#2 (named Compaq). I have set up a workgroup (Windward) on all three machines and linked them into a Netgear hub with three crossover cables.
When I click on [Network Places] and then [View Workgroup computers] :-
The Laptop shows [Windward] with Laptop and Mark5 icons.
The Mark5 shows [Windward] with Laptop and Mark5 icons.
(with both of these I can access shared files as expected)
The Compaq shows [Windward] and just the Compaq icon.

Just so I have this straight:

If someone wants to join a domain, they log in as usual and go through

control panel > system > computer name > change,

they then enter the name of the domain they wish to join, get the administrator to enter his/her log on and password in the pop-up box, and hit enter. After a restart, they will be members of the domain, and still have their documents and settings and desktop all the same, correct? Just making sure.

Yes I've googled and that is pretty much what I have come up with, I'm just looking for confirmation that this is correct.

I have just installed a new 2000 professional workstation and I am tring to join a domain on a nt 4.0 server but I am not having any luck. Is there something I need to do on the server or the workstation. I am howerver able to use the internet so I know the network card is working

A:joining a nt4.0 domain

In the settings for Client for MS Networks you need to put the DOMAIN name in the appropriate box. If it still doesn't work, go to the server and add the workstation in server manager.
